Stopped in to have dinner with clients and found that for an almost waterfront restaurant the food quality was poor. Fish tacos were seriously lacking fresh fish. Shrimp scores were dry and served on a bed of dry white rice. No sauce etc. It was very poor for the price paid. read more

Stopped in at the Black Cat for dinner. Very good food and a fun, jazzy atmosphere. We were able to sit outside and look out at the harbor. Service was slightly slow but not too bad and the food was definitely worth the visit. read more

Only reviewing the Clam Chowder which was excellent: creamy and full of clams, very flavorful. A wee bit pricey ($6.95 for a cup). Cape Code Red was $6 for a 16oz glass, which is a bit much as well. read more

I am not much for reviews, but this place deserves a giant nod. Staff is awesome, friendly and affective. Quick to the drink and sharp with the order taking. Steamers were perfect, clean and delicious. Ahi Tuna Taco was aces and the fried clams (bellied) were incredible. A simple meal but really one of the best I've had in a long time. Add to it an amazing performance by Tony (Antonio Bailey - The House of Water) and his supporting percussionist, just an awesome time had by all. 4 thumbs up. read more

Great fish fry and fried shrimp platter. Nice atmosphere with outside seating overlooking the water. The plastic silverware went along with everything. Great place to sit outside and have a good meal. Ordered the Mediterranean Salad with salmon. I've had this salad before and loved it. This time, not so much. The pepperoncini must be a new brand. They were cut up and most of them had the tops to them. They were hard and with a waxy taste. I pushed them to the side and finished my salad. I presented the plate to the server and explained my issue. She apologized. I could have asked to speak with the manager but didn't and no one came my way. I didn't expect anything in return. Totally love the food at Black Cat. I've taken all my friends and family there whenever I'm I. Cape Cod. My favorite thing is the lobster rolls which are the best I've had anyplace in the world. After hearing about their 1/2 price sushi ads, we decided to try "The Shack Out Back" at the Black Cat in Hyannis. Loved the great outdoor patio atmosphere and friendly staff. However, not very impressed with the food! My husband and I both ordered chowder to start and it was very good. It was flavorful and piping hot. That was the best thing about the place. We also ordered Ahi tuna fish tacos, and a stuffed quahog. The tacos were very bland with limited toppings. A piece of tuna, a dab of spicy mayo, and some shredded lettuce made for quite a dry, flavorless dish. The quahog was horrible. When it was served, it was gooey and lukewarm, and had a very strong and smelly clam taste. I asked for it to be cooked some more. That didn't help. The stuffing was soggy and had a gamey, fishy taste. Not fresh. We then tried the sushi. There is a very limited sushi menu with about 6 or 7 rolls to choose from. We had the spicy tuna roll and the tempura shrimp roll. We were very dissapointed with the tempura shrimp roll. It was obviously not made to order. The tempura shrimp was ice cold and the tempura batter was wilted and soggy from being refridgerated for a while. The spicy tuna was marginal. Overall the sushi was on par with take home sushi from the grocery store. We would go back again because it was a fun place ang great location but we would definitely stick to drinking. They had fun and attentive servers and bartenders. It is sad that being at the docks their seafood wasn't fresh and items like sushi are not made to order. read more

Excellent service ! Food was delicious. My whole family was happy. Everything was fresh. Drinks were also fantastic. We recommend the frosé and the blueberry lemonade, for grown ups of course. Cute walk up window to order quick food out of (not fast food because this is high quality!). There's covered and uncovered seating...which is great when the clouds roll in quickly! The only reason I stopped was because of the sign saying they had the best chowder on the cape three years straight...and didn't compete the fourth year! The chowder is absolutely fantastic! Nicely seasoned with fresh herbs...thick but not too thick, creamy, buttery, and full of chunky potatoes, clams, and celery! Really glad I stopped!! read more

Cannot agree with anything less than a 4 star restaurant review. Clam chowder is totally amazing, deserving the award it received as best chowder. It has a lovely 'edge' to it, which enhances the clam flavor. No bacon, which I thought was the best way to have chowder. I was wrong. Also had the lobster roll, also deserving of it's award of best lobster roll. The waitress said it was a good size for one, possibly two people, so my husband and I shared one, and had the chowder, stuffed quahog. Glad we did. I ate 1/3 of it, and it was all I could eat, although I would have eaten a whole one if I had had it (and then been very ill from overeating). So I'd give it probably 3 1/2 stars honestly. I looked up places to dine on New Year's with the boy on Yelp before deciding on this place. (First couple of choices were closed for the season) I stumbled upon this restaurant and it sounded like it had a pretty solid menu, so I thought, why not? We call ahead for seating and get a time no problem, awesome. We are greeted by a nice girl and she immediately takes us to our table, balloons everywhere, very festive and a cute touch to add to the dining experience. Someone else comes to fill our water and we are told our server would be with us right after.......Ummm... like times goes by and we initially think nothing of it, then more time goes by and we're like....ummm.. did they forget we are here? Finally the bf flagged someone down and asked who'd be serving us this evening (in a very polite manner of course) and the server said he didn't know who'd was supposed to have our table but that he would be more than happy too. Very nice recovery I must say. So I ordered Proseco to start, and it came out immediately. I have to add that the menu is a little pricey, it's the cape, and it's off season, but eh...I don't know if that's why or not. Just a little side note. The boy got a stuff quahog, oysters rockefeller, bacon wrapped scallops, stuffed shrooms, and clams casino (all but the stuffed quahog was an appetizer sampler). Honestly....the sampler looked kinda tacky, and I didn't try any of it, but it just didn't look good, esp. for the price. He commented most on the quahog, he pretty much inhaled everything else since he was starving. I opted for the ahi tuna entree, the tuna was seared with a nice sesame crust and was perfectly rare inside. It had a spicy aioli drizzled on it, there really wasn't enough of it, but it tasted good, kinda sloppy presentation, but whatever. The rice was a perfect round delight in presentation, jasmine, very tasty, with a nice seaweed salad also. The seaweed salad paired well with the tuna, I actually ate the majority of the tuna with the salad in each bite. My meal was good. I didn't get dessert, the bf got the chocolate martini, it was delish! I won't say I wouldn't go again, but with all the places in the cape yet to be explored, I don't know. read more

Add some over cooked grilled chicken, another $5. Add some dry salmon, another $8 bucks. The chowder? Nothing special. 4 adults "light" lunch, you're looking at a $85 bill. The oysters were clearly frozen, not fresh, and the lobster bisque is terrible. The stuffed shrimp entree at $22 came with four shrimp and a side of watery and flavorless potato salad. To make things worse, I got double charged on my card for my meal with the second charge coming 2 hours after we left the restaurant. Calling the manager the next day yielded this response: "That is your problem" and got hung up on. I was expecting at least an apology. Worst place in all of Massachusetts. This is a great quick stop in Hyannis for a casual bite to eat with a great view. It's basically a take out window with a pared down version of the restaurants menu. We had some steamers here and they were delicious. There is a porch with a few tables overlooking the harbor. read more

Probably best seafood restaurant in Hyannis. Love the porch seating. Bar area is very nice. Watch the ferry coming and going. They valet park but you can park at the meters across the street too. Service was good - very friendly. But the food was way overpriced and very meh. My husband's fish tacos were pretty flavorless. I got the veggie burger & just didn't like it. Kids got burgers & said they just didn't taste good & barely touched them. All in, we spent around $100 & ate maybe half our food. Fries were good, though. read more

We got two cups of soup for lunch from their window. It took ten minutes to get the soup and then we were told we couldnt sit at the tables next to the window to eat even though no one was there, and that there were benches across the street if we wanted to sit. The lobster bisque had one piece of lobster and the clam chowder had only tiny bits of clam and was mostly potato. Two cups of soup and a soda for 23 dollars - waste of money, try somewhere else instead! read more
