Chicken fried steak
Ivana Y.

Just updating my review, to say, IT'S STILL DELICIOUS here! You can't go wrong with anything on this menu. The food, the service, the ambience, it's all worth the wait!

Finally got around to trying the chicken fried steak. It was really good. The gravy had a great taste.eggs and Hashbrowns were great and I ordered mine with a piece of toast.. The service was great. The waitress was super sweet. It was a nice cleaned restaurant..

We got here early on Sunday morning and had no wait. By 9 am they were filling up fast. Our waitresses was quick to take and deliver our drink order. She even left us a pot of coffee. I had the morning wrecker. It's a split homemade biscuit with chicken fried steak, hash browns, and 2 eggs all topped with gravy and melted cheese on top. It was so good and I ended up taking half back home. The others got the normal chicken fried and eggs and the brisket hash. Which they each loved. Make sure you get a grilled biscuit!

I wish it tasted as good as it looked. I got the "Big Ol' French Toast Breakfast", and upgraded my French toast to the "Peach Cobbler French Toast". The hashbrowns were bad. The ham slice was greasy. The eggs were fine. The Peach Cobbler French toast was soggy.. there was just too much on top of it, it absorbed all of the moisture? It was visually pretty, but lacked flavor and was all one texture, mush. The Blueberry Pancakes were underwhelming. The pancakes taste like they need vanilla extract, maybe it's about personal preference, but I like my pancakes more sweet.. syrup didn't help, I'm not sure why. The hot chocolate was good! And I think they make their own whipped cream, we all enjoyed it. The restaurant itself is cute. While our waitress was friendly, the other staff seemed a bit dismissive. This isn't the worst place I've been to, but would I come back? No.

I've been seeing Bobbie's Southern Kitchen for a couple of weeks, and decided to finally try it out. This is a spot that replaced the old magnolia pancake house. We waited about about 25 minutes before getting seated. This place is very clean, open with a lot of light. Service was very good. Our waitress was very attentive without being intrusive and quick. The food was pretty good. I ordered the traditional breakfast which comes with a side and bread of your choice. I had refried beans and a biscuit. The food was good. And the price for this meal was pretty reasonable. My friend ordered the grilled biscuits, which she shared with me. They do charge an additional $.99 for grilling them. I enjoyed their food, atmosphere and service. I have every intention of coming back to Bobbie's Southern Kitchen, and trying some of their other southern food.

Stopped in for a working lunch this week. The service was super nice and we were seated immediately. The coffee was a little weak but a good flavor. The lunch plates are enormous. I had the Lone Star Patty Melt ... two patties, onions, lots of cheese, spicy mayo .. it was a mess but it was sooo good. I liked the dirty fries but I felt the mix of flavors could have been titled a little more towards the spicy sauce.

Smoked Brisket & Cheddar Omelet with hash browns

Went on a brunch date around 11:25am and we ended up having about a 56 minute wait. We waited outside on the patio and luckily there was a nice breeze. I ordered an iced vanilla coffee and the small chicken fried steak & eggs. I had my eggs over easy. For my sides I picked the seasoned farmhouse potatoes with onions and tomatoes and a biscuit. My chicken fried steak and eggs were delicious. I think my potatoes could have used a bit more seasoning. The biscuit was big, warm and tasty! I would come back to order biscuits to go. I'm glad I ordered the small portion because it was filling. I had half of my biscuit leftover. My boyfriend ordered a coffee and the smoked brisket & cheddar omelet. For his sides he got the hash browns and a grilled biscuit. The omelet was delicious and the grilled biscuit was okay to me. My boyfriend enjoyed all of his meal! Our server was friendly and attentive. No complaints on the service. I think we will definitely have to come back!

This is the Morning Wrecker..

We decided to eat breakfast here yesterday and we have had some great service and time before. I put our name on the waitlist online which is a wonderful tool to use and we had a few people ahead of us. It was a table of five and it was placed around 8:23. We were meeting at 8:30. We arrive a few minutes before the rest of our party and check in with the hostess, it's understandable in a busy restaurant that you have to wait for your party before you are sat. This place was not busy at 8:30 this morning. Not an issue just annoying. We are sat at a table that was dirty. It had multiple "leftovers" from the previous table. Hash browns, and something that was burned and left on the table. I asked for a napkin to clean off the table because the hostesss didn't see it. After we are sat we received prompt service from the waiter, quickly we got our drinks in, just waters for the table while we checked out the menu. When he came back with our drinks we decided to order. He was through putting in our order asking the right questions that we didn't answer ourselves while ordering. What type of bread did we want? How do we want our eggs. We talked amongst ourselves and the food was delivered, my hash was delicious just the eggs weren't over medium but more over easy, very liquid yolks. The waiter again was quick and asked if we needed anything else, we asked for ketchup and salsa, he very knowledgeably brought out butter with our food. Extras delivered, the food was tasty. And we enjoyed it. The issue was no refills on drinks, and he was sat with a large table which left him inattentive to his other tables. Not an issue, just an observation. Someone came and took some plates and asked if we needed anything we got some boxes for to go and paid up. Wasn't what we were used to, so it left a sore spot for us. Nothing that will keep us from ever coming again but something that will make us think before going back.

The pancakes were tough, the hash browns were undercooked had to send back my friends food because they got the order wrong, she didn't get her fruit and the bacon was like leather The ice coffee was good, the waitress was amazing and it was a cute restaurant, clean and well kept I wanted to like it also because Bobbie is my first name but very disappointed

Don't pass up your opportunity on this restaurant. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Our server did an excellent job on staying on top of things and I feel like this day and age that's rare to find. We had our five-month-old baby with us and they accommodated our seating very well so that we fit comfortably within a spot without having to feel crammed. It just overall was a nice experience and will definitely be back. For our family of three our bill came out to about 50$ with two coffees for our drinks. Also side note they don't have a kids menu.

I'm writing this review after two visits. The first visit was on a Sunday around 1030 and the wait wasn't out of the normal for that time of day but the food did take a while to get to us and it was just a small table of three. All the food was warm and delicious so we decided let's return the following week. We checked in with two people in front of me and then we waited....and waited....and waited....finally I went up to the host stand and was told (after telling them my link they text me says we are already seated) that the system "is lying" and don't listen to that and I'll be called shortly so we kept waiting and waiting then I went back up to the host stand and they said i had 7-8 people in front of me. I then figured out the host sat another table under my name and I was told "sorry" then a blank stare and nothing else to rectify the mistake...I was already having a crappy morning so we just left and went to ihop. The foods good but just make sure you give them a unique name so your table doesn't get snagged I guess.

Additional dine in seating.

Looked on Yelp for waffle options near me. And Bobbie's was listed amidst a couple of other options. I decided to go in and pick up a couple of orders first my husband and I. Once I got home and opened the bag,y husband and I were pleasantly surprised at all the food that came with waffle, eggs & bacon plate. I substituted sausage for bacon and we ordered sliced tomatoes as. Side & grits with cheese. The food was Amazing! The only downside was it was not very warm at all which was a wee bit disappointing seeing as you want to eat once you get it home not re-warm (we live 5 minutes away) waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage & grits in 4 different sessions in a microwave. But once re-warmed it was pretty darn Fabulous! Note: This is Treat if you watch your calories... save them only for this meal!!! I'm Happy I did and do not Regret it! Unfortunately planned on taking photos of our food but forgot once we realized we had to warm it all up again. Plates are PLENTIFUL so order accordingly!

Clucker

Came on a Friday for lunch on a holiday. The wait time was about 40 minutes and I joined the online waitlist. I noticed my name kept popping off and when I went to check-in, I was told that their system drops people due to inactivity but if I come in, they will accommodate my group quickly. Therefore, the total wait for a 11:30am table was about 45-50 min. We were seated quickly and had our order taken with friendly customer service. They did not rush us even though we took some time to finalize our order. The waitress was very friendly as was the person delivering our food. They came by at least 4 times to refill coffee and check on us. The food was delicious with excellent portion sizes and cooked to perfection. The clucker I ate was perfectly soft biscuits, excellent egg made exactly as asked and with the right temperature and presentation. I was extremely impressed with the food. The prices are between $10-20 depending on your order. The average is about $15. They take your bill at the table and also can split it easily using their electronic device. I felt well taken care of and enjoyed the place immensely. As some of you may know, this restaurant location used to be another breakfast place. I think the food is the same and perhaps even better now with a strong southern hospitality and menu.

Chicken Fried Steak - the small. I also had Texas toast as a side. It was all great.

It is still open. The phone line acts quirky from time to time. It is worth the wait. Great family style dining; you go back in time when you eat here.

It came with 2 cakes. One was undercooked and one has a crispy crust. The undercooked one was my favorite. It is more moist with soft in the middle. Tuna Al Pastor has a kick but nothing special. Tres Leches was beautiful. 4/5. I like the fresh fruits to cut down the sweetness. The cake was a bit in the dense side. The icing on top was thick. We arrived around 5pm on a Thursday and got in queue which was out the door and wrapping around the front porch. Their host/doorman was kind, he offered the line water on many occasions and made pleasantries with almost all guests as the line moved. It was a hot day so those waters were clutch. By the time we made it to the front of order line maybe 40 minutes had passed. But ladies and gents the wait is worth it. When we plated our trays on the table my family all had heart eyes, and had equally loved our first bites. Their brisket is extremely tender. It's beautifully sliced and made for an amazing welcome back to the South taste for me. I was in heaven. I particularly enjoyed having the fresh pickled red onion for fresh, zesty cuts through the abundance of other saltier elements on the plate. Their menu is slammin! Their sides, and sausages all had crafty ingredients. I enjoyed their spicy link options and their macaroni was delightful. Their BBQ sauce was a nice 4/5 but certainly did the job. As a native Texan who's had their fair share, this was easily some of the best barbecue I've ever had. Top 5 top 5 top 5. I'm of course coming back and looking forward for more banana cream pudding especially. They were small, slightly sweet, and had great balance with the vanilla wafer ratio. That whip cream on top too had me hooked. I couldn't have asked for a better welcome back meal for the bold Texas cuisine, hospitality, and novelty animal and cowboy decor.

The cabbage was somewhat spicy, the cornbread muffin was a half muffin, the muffin did not fill up the cupcake muffin wrapper. But the fried catfish, fried chicken wings and yams were on point, I would order the catfish and chicken wing plate to go anyday! The peach cobbler was very sweet. My daughter ordered meatloaf, a pork chop plate, Mac & cheese, collard greens, cornbread muffin, a tropical punch beverage and banana pudding which I felt the pudding was watered down vs. being thick. She asked for medium cooked pork chops and one pork chop was medium and one pork chop was over cooked. She notified the cashier and he stated they both were cooked at temp the same time. The collard greens were spicy and the Mac & cheese were watered down. I had to go to the restroom. This was the worst restroom in any restaurant I have ever used. First, there was no light on, I had to ask for light and one of the employees turned on the light. Secondly, there was an awful hole in the top right corner ceiling, I was afraid to use the restroom for fear of some bug crawling in through the ceiling hole. Third, there was also a hole in the wall visible behind the toilet tank top, again I was afraid to set down on the toilet and the whole bathroom decor was unappealing. When other patrons described this establishment as as "HOLE IN THE WALL" they were absolutely correct. Don't forget about the hole in the ceiling! Entering into the building, the walls and ceiling were black, making the atmosphere sad. There was also a small bar to the left of the dining area. But the kicker for me was, our two meals, two beverages, and two desserts cost $61!!! As many Soul Food Restaurant I have eaten in with my daughter for two people, I have never been charged so much for two soulfood meals with two beverages and two desserts. RECOMMEDATION: Of course my palate is different from other customers, but I would never return to the establishment due to being over charged for two meals, two beverages, two desserts and the lady's restroom was the pits.

It is the perfect stop after showing friends and family the Alamo and the River Walk before heading back home. Just be prepared for a line because every time we have gone, there is usually one. The ribs and sausage are also solid choices. For sides, we rotate between the well seasoned green beans, mac and cheese, beans and okra. All of them are excellent and you really cannot go wrong. Side note. I am not a fan of their corn. I prefer corn that leans sweet rather than spicy, so it is not my favorite. Next time I go, I already know what I want to try.
