Chicken fried steak, their specialty, was chewy. The breading tasted good and the texture was good, it just wasn't stellar. The waitress was very nice but I had to call over another waitress to fill my coffee cup after waiting a bit. It has a very comfortable atmosphere and the food was ok. We were seated immediately! The restaurant was very clean and decorated with things you would find on a farm. The hostess took our drink order and promptly brought our beverages. Our server was with us shortly and took our appetizer order which was homemade golden brown loaded tater tots which were very tasty. We all ordered the senior chicken fried steak. It came with two sides. Our meal was brought out quickly and was hot and well made. My only disappointments were that I ordered Coconut Cream Pie and it was frozen so we took it to go and had it at home and the dining room was filled with tables, no booths, which made for a very noisy environment so be prepared. Simply put, the food is delicious. Our server, Rylee, was so witty and friendly, she'd be reason enough to become regulars. Our food was piping hot upon being served and really got our day off to a wonderful start. We even got to meet the actual Bobbie (although not her real name). She was sweet...just like the syrup, but spicy, like a habanero pepper. She does not put up with "Karen" behavior. I witnessed her check someone being rude to a server. Love that! The pictures look better than what we had. The chicken fried stake looked and sounded amazing from their Social media posts. It was average at best, very disappointed. Service. During a busy Saturday lunch with people waiting outside, which is another complaint, that your hostess cannot give a wait time for new customers. You need to come to the 21st century and do better on giving wait time estimates and create an app that allows weight time options. You will lose customers, especially on busy Saturday and Sunday lunch and no clue how long to wait for a table as hostess has been told not to give a wait time. I can get similar food as good as your food and have an idea of how long I have for a table! So I cannot recommend your restaurant anymore, even though I have been there before. So response from Scott is not good enough. All other places at least try and use some computer system to keep you up dated. Your food is good, but I can get better service and same quality food else where and will let others know! Hope you survive and are able to compete! Good luck. I read about Bobbie's online and decided to check it out. At that first visit, it became my favorite breakfast place. I've taken my Husband there twice and been back alone twice. The food is great and the portions are huge! The biscuits are so big that I usually bring half of it home. Service is also great. We went for a ladies brunch today after seeing a story on a local news show that showcased Bobbie's Cafe and over all it was a pretty good experience. We had 3 order the chicken fried steak, grilled biscuit, hash-browns and over easy eggs, pork chop breakfast and the hillbilly eggs Benedict. The chicken fried steak was delicious with yummy crispy batter coating that we all enjoyed as well as very flavorful cream gravy. I have never had a grilled biscuit but it was a really delicious twist to a biscuit! The pork chop breakfast was delicious but the chop a little on the dry side. The hillbilly eggs Benedict was decent but wasn't wowed. The hash-browns and eggs were not a hit with anyone. The hash-browns were slightly cooked on one side of the square patty but almost barely warm throughout and definitely needed flipped when cooking to be warmer and crisper. The over easy and medium eggs we asked for were not hard but close. The coffee and hot cocoa were delicious and our cups were kept full by pretty attentive staff who were super friendly. While I always tip; regardless of service, the menu states parties of 6 or more will have a large group gratuity and while we were only 5 people, we were all surcharged a gratuity with no explanation of why. Long wait, but worth it. My eyes were bigger than my stomach. I had the small chicken fried steak and eggs. Over medium with hash browns and a biscuit. The chicken fried steak was tasty and perfectly seasoned. The eggs were cooked to perfection. Also ordered the kings french toast. I was a lite french toast and the peanut sauce was tasty. I used to take my kids when they were young. We made a stop in while in town a few days ago and it was still just as amazing. The wait time was totally worth it! Our hostess was kinda and understanding (I believe she was the owner). We were a party of 7 and no one made us feel bad for being a large group! Our food was 10/10! We received a burger with only a small portion of fries. When we asked for more fries, our waiter walked away and came back in less than a minute. I took my husband there for his birthday lunch. The atmosphere it's like a country farmhouse. The wait staff were very nice , we had a server named Miranda. She was very helpful letting us know what were really good dishes on the menu and what she liked. We had the chicken fried steak and the pork chops. They were very good. She offered us a grilled biscuit with honey and butter. Oh my goodness it is a must. We can't wait to go back for breakfast . We went to the park this morning and this place was the only place that was close so we decided to check it out. Added ourselves to the waitlist online, smooth and seamless. On the outside, I admittedly judged it by the way it looked. I was nervous the food would be horrible or mediocre at best but man... I was so wrong. Everything here is excellent. From the food, service, cleanliness, and everything in between. I ordered the morning wrecker and my waiter informed me that it's a tik tok trend food so everyone is coming there for that ( I don't have tik tok so I don't know anything about that) but what I do know is that this meal was INCREDIBLE. Soft fluffy biscuit, crispy juicy chicken fried steak and the gravy, bless that gravy. It was some of the best gravy I've ever had in my life, even better than my own gravy I make at home. The thick chunks of ham/ sausage, whatever it was added the best smoke flavor. I would order this again but definitely share it because that is one MASSIVE option. The coconut banana pancake was delicious as well. So soft and buttery. Not overly sweet on the coconut or white chocolate. Perfect bite every single time. Their pancakes are THICK so when we got this, we were so excited. Hubby got the grilled cheese French toast and it was also spectacular. Smokey, peppery, sweet and yes gooey with the perfect amount of cheese. This is my favorite place for breakfast now. Best in San Antonio hands down. read more
