The food is pretty good the hot sauce you gotta try the biscuits are great and big food portions are large. Had a late breakfast today at Bobbie's. I had a French toast plate with 2 eggs, potatoes, and ham; my wife had a spinach/mushroom/onion omelette with potatoes and a biscuit (costs extra). The food is good, in ample amounts, and not too expensive. Our server was very attentive and pleasant. That biscuit seemed a bit stale; the other items were clearly freshly made. The French toast was crisp and tasty. My wife felt the omelette was a 3/5. It's a good place for southern comfort food at a good price, explains why several friends really like it. read more

I wanted to try Bobbie's Cafe again, but this time on a weekday to avoid the crowds. I got the Morning Wrecker like I did on my first visit and it was a 180 from that first visit. The biscuits were extremely dry and hard to the point of being totally inedible hockey pucks. My side of bacon was nowhere near the quality of what I received the previous two visits--very noticeably of poor quality and taste. It was clearly not the usual table bacon they serve. The service was outstanding, as usual, and their coffee was very good. Claire, the manager I spoke to about the food issue, was genuinely concerned, informed their kitchen staff of the quality issue, and provided me a $4.74 discount. I'm really wanting to love 'the best breakfast in San Antonio', but consistency is everything with restaurants and, thus far, the food is really missing the mark. As stated previously, the service is excellent. I will likely return in the future after their food quality issues and inconsistency have been improved. read more

It was our first time here and we picked it by happenstance as we had just come from the airport. We were immediately impressed by how nice everyone was. Our server was Miranda, who was very friendly, gave good recommendations, and was a pleasure to be around. As far as the food, it was incredible. Never got to the table to eat. This place offers the convenience of notifying the restaurant ahead of time, which is good. HOWEVER, management will not allow front staff to tell the patrons how long the anticipated wait is. When I arrived, there were 7 people ahead of us on the premises waiting, but over 13 in the call ahead platform that was ahead of us, for a total of possibly 20 people. I had my elderly mom with health issues and needed an estimated time to see if staying was an option and all the front staff could do was skirt around the question. When I got to management is when I discovered the issue. I walked out and don't plan to return. read more

I do not understand the hype. I have eaten a lot of southern style food when we lived in Georgia and I never had a biscuit that I could cause head trauma with. Nor have I ever had a chicken fried steak with cornmeal in the batter. My daughter loves pancakes and hers were so heavy she barely touched them. Chicken Fried steak of epic proportions and taste breading is seasoned perfectly. Coffee is just the way I like, not engine cleaner and not too weak, and the cup never runs dry. Get the seasoned potatoes as the hash browns are nothing special. Eggs are eggs, will add they list to my request for hard scrambled all three times I have been there. Serving staff all work together, which makes for the aforementioned, never empty coffee cup. Last, if not a fan of white gravey you can get brown if you go later in the morning. read more

I have been to Bobbies a few times, at least 6 to 7 times in the last 2 and 1/2 months. I've we've tried a few different things, and everything is pretty good. The morning wrecker is one of our favorites. Bugers are good, but the Bun is a little dense. (Kinda thick, not fluffy, or soft) Bread fell apart on me, but the seasoning on the patty was good and delicious. The banana nut pancakes were really good. Fluffy, big, and tasted like Banana. I think they put banana in the batter. They were really good. The French toast was not great. They use use regular bread instead of Texas toast, so they are small, not filling. In my opinion, they charge a little too much for the French toast they are serving. Enchiladas plate was alright. There is nothing really special about it. Good, but not my favorite. Out of everything that I've ordered, the only thing i did not like was the liver and onions . It wasn't the taste I was expecting or looking for. Kinda of had a little bitter taste. The onions are regular onions, not the sweet onions that should be used to give it a little sweetness. Service has always been good. Staff are really nice. I highly recommend getting on the wait list when you are going. It's a small place and can only handle a few parties at a time. There is, usually, a good wait outside sometimes 30 minutes to an hour. He cut into it and it still didn't look like he touched it! The service is amazing even when it's busy. We came here during a busy lunch hour, so we did have a wait. Our server was wonderful, we didn't get her name sadly. It is kind of a small building and parking can be tricky. They have additional parking in the back. The hillbilly Benedict was really good, my friend ordered the chicken and biscuits, i would steer away from this entree if youre a sides kind of person, this doesn't come with anything other than the chicken tenders and biscuits. The location is convenient I live less than a mile away. I ordered a standard breakfast which included eggs, pancakes, hashbrowns, sausage. Unfortunately, My choice did not live up to the hype. Considering the price was a little under $20 I could have just eaten a grand slam for less $$ at Denny's it tastes about the same. Fried Chicken was decent, Club sandwich scene. Their nacho appetizer was quite filling and delicious. Always have had a personal preference for the pile high style (when not in an extreme mood for Chacho's). We also tried the seafood, which honestly was overkill on the breading. Granted, the breading was good, not would have preferred them as a separate dish almost! The onion rings are large in size, but taste could use some improvement. Same thing on the breading.
