Been coming to this restaurant location for years and always had great service. Came in for lunch with family on a weekday. Restaurant name change and under new ownership. Some of the original servers are still running the restaurant. We were seated by the restroom. Service was a bit slow today waited 30 mins for our tea pot and had to ask servers several times (2 ladies). We even got out of our seats to serve ourself. The older gentleman (guessing is the owner) waved use off when we asked for a tea cup and just walked away. Typical Asian run restaurants so be prepared for unpredictable services. Can be a hit and miss!!! Would have rated lower for service but rating is for food. Overall food was tasty and good. Upon parking in the tiny lot, I observed this hole in the wall restaurant. I was very skeptical at first. We had their lunch special which was $6.99 a plate and meant to be shared "family style". The food was very good and tasted authentic. Only four stars because the place looked dirty. My soup spoon was dirty, so check your dishes. They seemed to be doing some construction so they sat us in a little side room. After we were seated, they sat three other tables. They seemed to take all our orders at once and proceeded to serve the other three tables first! Two of those were almost done eating before we had our first order! The rice they served was weirdly discolored and dry. If I had to guess it was the bottom of the rice pot, how some parts are stuck together and a little "beige" like toasted together. This restaurant is a bait and switch. Do NOT come here unless you want to be a victim of false advertisement. This is my second trip to this restaurant. The first time I came with friends who know the owners, they gave us what was actually advertised in the menu and then some more. The problem is this: The menu shows pictures of sea bass fish and they charge a hefty price per pound of fish. This is fish that goes into the hotpot. There were a number of things wrong with this restaurant: 1) The fish they actually served us were some other cheap and inferior fish substitute - for sure not sea bass. 2) The service was horrible. One of the waiters had a frown on his face and acted like he didn't want to be there. They ran out of one type of noodle that goes into the hot pot and when we asked about it, he said no we ran out of noodles period. When I asked the other waiter, he was able to miraculously provide us with noodles. At this restaurant, you get what is advertised on the menu only if you know the owners. This was ordered by me, taken to another table by the waitress and eaten by another table, then the waitress had realized it was on the wrong table, took it from the other table, took it back to the kitchen and 10 seconds later served it to us! The flavor is spicy, slightly tangy and just overall good flavor. The lamb clay pot is good too: the lambs are more tender than I thought they'd be. This was my second time coming here and I'm definitely a fan! I was craving a tofu and mushroom pot and wasn't sure where to look. I ended on yelp looking for place close by and saw that they had a picture of exactly what I wanted. I called in the order. The gentleman that picked up the phone was really nice and had good telephone etiquette. I ordered the SEAFOOD TOFU POT that came with baby octopus, shrimp, fish fillet, tofu, mushrooms, and yu choy. I was expecting this dish to be $9.95 but they recently updated their menus and my total came out to be around $15. The dish was flavorful and exactly what I wanted but I thought the pricing is a little expensive especially since I was expecting it to be around $10. My family always comes here for family gatherings/special events and on the rare occasions we randomly go out to eat. We usually get the large stone wok. Pretty intense when they bring it out, bubbling and looking heavy AF. I love love love the sea bass in it. My family is super Asian so they usually order soft shell tortoise as well. My favorite vegetable to eat here is the braised large bean sprouts with fresh tofu skin as well as the stir fried pumpkin slices with the Chinese yam and wood ear fungus. On occasion we get lobster, and the best way to eat this is to have it steamed with a bunch of garlic (loveeee garlic) glass noodles surrounding the lobster so all the lobster juices are soaked up!!! First of all, if you want to order on the phone, you better be able to speak Chinese as they can't speak a lick of English and be able to take your order. If you order online, they charge a little more for each dish. We ordered shrimp with mixed vegetables and as soon as I opened up the styrofoam container, I could tell the shrimp was bad as it had a foul spoiled smell. We ordered black pepper filet mignon which the woman at the restaurant was upset we tried to order that cuz she said she didn't know what mignon was and to just call it beef.... umm... it's on their own menu written out as filet mignon. That dish was mostly green peppers and onions with about 10 pieces of tiny small cheap beef. I've come here with my family a few times already, and we would always go in for the lunch specials in which the dishes are $5.95 each. Despite the low prices, the dishes are nevertheless very large thus portion sizes are never a problem here. Also, the food in general tastes fine enough that I don't think anyone will find much fault with it. Maybe their beef fried rice might have needed some more flavor but that's just my opinion. Surprisingly, their kung pao chicken was actually my favorite dish as there was so much flavor to it.
