Bonchon wings slap so hard. If you want fresh crispy and juicy wings, come to Bonchon. Wings are honestly the best and the soy garlic adds a level of sweetness and tang that I can't get anywhere else. I've tried the spicy one in the past and it is very flavorful but abit too spicy for me (perfect for my friend though). I also love the pickled radish that comes on the side because it compliments the chicken really well. I'm also a big fan of takoyaki and I think Bonchon makes theirs really well, especially if you eat it fresh! Their fries are great too because they are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Literally perfection and the seasoning is so good. I've eaten at Bonchon many times and their food consistently amazes me. Luckily you get some pickled turnips to help balance the spiciness level. You definitely have to eat everything right away since the crispy skin might go soggy. I called via phone to place my order since it seemed like I couldn't do it online. I also had to provide my credit card number over the phone to place my order. I asked for a wait time (30ish minutes). Parking was easy since there is a shared parking area with other businesses. Upon arrival, there are a lot of people waiting and there are benches outside. Now for the unfortunate part... because I asked for a wait time, I made sure to arrive like 5 minutes before. I walked inside to check if my order was ready, but it wasn't so we waited outside. They were calling folks outside who had their orders ready so it's time for the waiting game. Another 5 mins go by. Then another. Then another. Everyone was getting their order but ours. In the end, I walked in to ask and our order was there with a bunch of others. Not sure how long it was waiting there, but left a bad taste in my mouth. I used to be a massive fan of Bonchon, specifically this location. The flavors and textures are iconic to Korean fried chicken. So maybe the other locations might be solid, but this one has certainly gone down hill. The last couple times I've gone, the chicken has been undercooked and inedible. Yesterday, I ordered online for pickup for around 4:20pm. I got there a bit late, but still ended waiting about 30 minutes after I arrived. The restaurant wasn't busy, maybe 4 tables of people. I'm less bothered that I had to wait, but to wait and then receive undercooked chicken. I've given up. For the record, when this place is on it, it's amazing. Easy 5 stars. Just the perfect amount of of seasoning on every wing, although the fries are pricey at $7.50. Most of the time it is a full house. One major con I have with BonChon is that they demand online payment over the phone if you are doing carry out. I befriended the employees and you make you feel conferable. I felt they could have given a bigger portion, but it did have a lot of different vegetables. Recommendations as a consumer: If you are planning to order the family meal, you need to call in your order. Credit card payment via phone. The online ordering system does not have it. Recommendations for the business owner: Incorporate family meal into your online ordering system. Differentiate the chicken flavors by some kind of label in the chicken box of the family meal. Every time we went, our plate always arrived looking a little bit different than the last time while somehow also becoming progressively worse. I really hoped after a few years post covid they'd go back to their old chicken. OG Bonchon took about 30 minutes for chicken to be ready bc it was the double fried real deal. A great place to chat with friends for drinks as you waited for your meal. It even came with 2-3 sides back then! Now the chicken comes out in like 5 min like it's Applebees or something. Awful! The quality of their chicken really has plummeted....I feel bad for anyone who missed out 2006-2018. Strips now are just processed tenderloins that are rubbery with nearly a microwave texture. I've been a long time patron of Bonchon since Drew was the manager and have loved it early on. After Drew's departure i was sad to see him go but the new manager was good and I couldn't complain. During the Drew era and the era after was still great. Peggy was our favorite server and not sure what happened to her but I wish her the best. We were proud regulars. Within the last few years service has significantly declined. The girls are always friendly and helpful with a pleasant attitude. Jay is amazing, always attentive, follows through with requests and suggestions and has a great attitude. Unfortunately there are servers ((Henry, I think his name is) are less pleasant to deal with. Being seated right away since there was no wait and pretty much the bar area had two other customers, I thought we would have waters brought out to us as soon as we sat. I was wrong. The drinks we ordered being brought out over after 15 minutes is unacceptable. I get it if they were busy but it wasn't. People seated after us got water before us and their orders taken. No big deal. I wasn't surprised with the lack of service from him because this isn't the first time we've encountered his lack of service appeal. It's been years. He plays himself off by being over friendly when you walk in and it makes you feel welcomed with such a strong greeting but you are slowly let down as you order and although he seemingly looks like he's paying attention or cares but reality is the opposite. He's great at making you feel heard but doesn't follow through. He doesn't offer if we want additional drinks but instead clears our glasses. Called in my order and paid over the phone with my credit card. The staff was extremely nice and had my order ready by the time I pulled into the parking lot (15 min after ordering). We got a medium combo order for 2 people with half spicy and half soy garlic. We decided to eat a few pieces right in the parking lot just to get the amazing crunch when the chicken was still fresh. It was still decently crunchy after a 20 min drive home but I definitely recommend eating this as quickly as possible since the crunch is the best part. The chicken was very flavorful. Came here for dinner with two of my friends on a Thursday night. We were greeted by an employee and seated right away. We ordered 30 wings, fries, onion rings, and some beer. We got soy garlic and hot for our two choices of flavor. Our waitress was very nice and constantly came to check on us in case we needing anything. The food was fresh! Hot to the touch and filled with flavor. Definitely enjoyed my time here. The reason I'm only giving 3 stars is because of the cleanliness of our beer glasses, or lack there of. When we received our glasses, there were thick mouth stains still prominent on each of our glasses. They definitely weren't cleaned properly. I would think cleanliness, especially in our current situation with the world, would be of utmost priority. We told our waitress about the dirty glasses, apologized (even though it wasn't her fault), and gave us new ones. Wow, just wow. I visited Bonchon several times before. My most recent visit being last week and today (07/25/22). The previous times and last week were delicious... except for today. I ordered through their official website online for pickup. I ordered a small combo which includes 4wings and 2 drums (refer to bottom box of photo) and a large combo which includes 12 wings and 6 drums (refer to top box of photo). Previously, when I ordered the combos I would receive wings and large drumsticks; happened every time when I would order the combos. However, today for my large order, I received the correct quantity of food, but the size of the drumsticks were drastically smaller. I believe I was given drumettes (basically the size of a wing) and they passed it off as drumsticks. I called Bonchon to bring up this issue, believing I received the wrong order. But I ended up being passed over to Sarah, who I believe to be the manager of this establishment. She asked me if I had visited this specific location before. And after I responded "yes, I did last week and many times before," she stated that "the drumsticks have gotten smaller since Bonchon has no control over the size of the drumsticks when they are purchased." We ended the phone call with her saying sorry and offering to text me a picture for the size comparisons of the drumsticks. What she told me is ridiculous because in my small combo, I received 2 drumsticks, 3 wings, and 1 drumette. Are you telling me I received 3 wings and 3 drumsticks, with 1 "drumstick" significantly smaller than the other 2 drumsticks? If that is the case, then the large order I had was 18 wings and 0 drumsticks. I would not recommend going to this establishment anymore because what I received was immensely different from what I had ordered before. I feel cheated because I feel like I did not receive what I paid for. And after bringing up the issue with management, I don't believe my issue was properly resolved as they just blamed it on the company. Bonchon has been a so-so experience for me for the past two times I've been here. Fried chicken is made to order, so expect to wait for that to cook. The flavors are good. My favorite is the soy garlic one, but the honey flavor is nice if you want something sweeter. The fried chicken here is definitely crispy, however I find that the meat underneath the batter isn't juicy nor flavorful. It doesn't make it that enjoyable to eat.
