I've been to this CAVA location three times (2 for dine in and one order to go through the app). It is easily my favorite CAVA around and I think they do a great job maintaining consistency in product. I love the build your bowl option with the greens and grains. I'm a creature of habit, so I opt for the grilled chicken 99% of the time and I have to say that I am never disappointed. The toppings are flavorful and well made. I highly recommend getting the harissa and taziki added to your bowl as well as the pickled onions, Persian cucumbers and tomato and onion mix. The toppings easily help take these dishes to the next level! If I could make one modification to the menu, it would be the cookies they offer. I have not once felt inclined to try the current option. One of my favorite things about Zoe's Kitchen was their chocolate chunk cookies and since CAVA bought out Zoe's Kitchen, I was hoping that those Zoe's cookies would have made the cut for the CAVA menu. I'm going to stay hopeful, but in the mean time, I will obviously continue coming here because the food is great! So I will say the food was really great but the men working in the establishment are not polite and need to work on their customer service. A girl was working at the counter, she was very nice, and seemed new. The men that were training her (possibly the manager not sure) were being very abrasive and rude in their directions to her. I've been to other locations (in SA and other states) but this new location at the rim is something different . They always out of something .(past 3 times) today i went there but only 2 different meat to pick and grilled veggies are more like grilled carrots, every time I had to ask to put Brussel sprouts because I always get only carrots. I recently moved from Dallas where there are several CAVA locations I've been to, so I was really excited when I saw CAVA was opening up a location at the Rim in San Antonio. I placed an online order for two bowls at 3:28 pm for pickup at 3:45 pm. I arrived at the restaurant and there weren't any to-go orders on the shelf. After waiting for several minutes with no new orders brought out to the to go shelf, I waited in line to inquire about my order. The employee in line said my order "was up next," and coming right out - at this point I had been waiting 11 minutes since the promise time of 3:45 pm. I waited some more and stood by the to go shelf - it was extremely obvious I was waiting for an order and at no time was I offered assistance or even acknowledged by the 6+ employees working in front of house or by the employee in charge of bringing to go orders out. After waiting several more minutes, I got back in line again. At this point I had been waiting 24 minutes. I would've canceled my order but there wasn't a way to do so via the app or the confirmation email. I asked about my order (again) and indicated I had been waiting a very long time/the promise time for my order was 3:45 pm. The employee in the line asked me if I had checked the to-go order shelf, as if I hadn't been standing there for the past several minutes waiting on my order. The employee then "checked on" my order AGAIN, and assured me it was "coming right out." After waiting some more, an employee finally came out with my order at 4:17 pm, 32 minutes after the promise time for my order. All he said was that they received several orders around the same time and evidently forgot about mine... (despite me waiting 32 minutes and getting back in line twice to inquire the whereabouts of my order from several different employees). See the photo attached below where it is clear that the promise time for my order was 3:45 pm and the receipt sticker was printed at 4:14 pm (29 minutes after the promise time). The food was cold and needed to be reheated once I arrived home. Additionally, they forgot to include my side pita bread that I ordered. I have worked in food service at a quick service restaurant (where the food is prepared on the line in front of customers) very similar to CAVA that was more high volume than this location, so I understand being busy. If a customer's order wasn't ready by the promise time, the appropriate action is to make the order right then and there and to work the to-go order into the line, before taking another order. If a customer had to wait over half an hour past the promise time for their order at the place I worked, the order would have been comped and an apology would've been issued at the very least. A customer should never have to wait 32 minutes past the promise time, ever. I was never offered an acceptable explanation and or even an apology. The customer service at this CAVA location was really unacceptable and disappointing. Unfortunately, I won't be returning and wouldn't recommend going here. Edit: After contacting CAVA Corporate, they handled the concern appropriately with me. I added an extra star for CAVA corporate's (NOT management at The Rim location) quick response and customer service as they tried to rectify the situation. read more

No one acts like they want customers to eat at Cava. The service and ambiance gets an F. Even though the food is good, the service is terrible. Every employee acts like they hate working here. Things I've noticed on every visit: Disorganized. Dirty. Disinterested. Don't go the last hour as they are closing up and you will maneuver around their staff ready to go home. I keep hoping, I'll go on a different shift and the service and ambiance will be better. Clearly this is a deep management issue. Stay clear! read more

I love Cava. The food is so good. But can I say how dirty their counter and restaurant was today, and how rude Ross was. He didn't pay attention or looked up while I was standing at the counter. He ignored me for about 3 long minutes until another worker noticed and helped me. Ross then decided to ask what I needed, after the other worker was already helping me. I said since he had ignored me for so long I'd already been helped. He just shrugged his shoulders and looked away. We have been 4-5 times and each time order something different. Every time we leave and say "that was delicious". The meals are prepared quickly with high quality ingredients. You can build your own bowl or pita with a broad selection of veggies and proteins. If you like you can even add some extra spice to heat thing up. The worst part of this visit was the customer service, we went 30 minutes before closing and the workers were already closing up and looked like they didn't want to be there anymore. Food is amazing, but customer service is not. I have been to this location multiple times and have never been treated nicely. Each time the employees are ridiculously rude. I am just leaving this location and was treated very poorly by the person building the bowls. It is not difficult to treat people with respect and patience. Cava is the only chain restaurant that will tell you what you HAVE to get when YOU are paying your hard earned money for their food. The lamb meatballs are not included in the price of the bowl, which is ridiculous! The cost for two lamb meatballs is $1.90. If you get a bowl with 1/2 veggies and 1/2 lamb meatballs (2), you pay the $1.90 for the meatballs. Ok, no problem, However, if you want full veggies and two lamb meatballs, the Cava staff will tell you, you HAVE to get full lamb meatballs (pay $3.80 for 4) Why???? It makes no sense! They have NO reason as to why one must pay for 4 lamb meatballs when you only want 2. This is the reason for my two star review. Also, the Cava location in San Antonio TX on LaCantera Pkwy ALWAYS burns the veggies to a crisp. The cauliflower & brussels sprouts are literally black. It's beyond ridiculous! I used to go to Cava pretty frequently in North Texas where I think they are more prevalent, and they were always very clean and consistent. I don't think I'll be coming to this location anymore, it's filthy, the food is consistently bad or unavailable, and the wait is awful. They are always out of at least two staples and the staff freely admits either they forgot to prep those items or they didn't make enough. They aren't short staffed (there are almost always two or three people hanging out in the kitchen) but only two people on the line when I go. I know that if there are more than three people in line it's gonna take 20 minutes for me to get up there to order. I've seen people walk in to see a short line (like today) and walk right back out because I'm pretty sure they've experienced the same thing. The line staff don't care, they toss food in the bowl with frustration and throw bottles and utensils around when things are empty like they're complaining. They tossed and scooped in such a hurry today that the bottom of my bowl today had a 1/4 inch of standing brine from the toppings. It's really sad because I do genuinely like the food here. My order today was just so gross and they were out of 90% of the things that I came in looking for even though it was right before 5 o'clock that it was the last time I'll attempt to eat here. There were two families of four and one couple in front of me, and it took me almost 45minutes to get up to the line. The restrooms were filthy, the line was covered with food and sauce that caked to the bottom of my bowl as the staff scooted it along, and there wasn't a single clean table despite the lone staff member in the dining area standing around with cleaning equipment. It seems like just bad mismanagement to be out of all sorts of things they "forgot to prep" and for a two person team to take 45 minutes to clear 10 customers in this model of a restaurant. Okay- I have no idea what's up with this location in particular, but I'm hoping this review can get the attention of someone in ownership who can make the proper changes. First off, I love cava, and every location delivers stellar and efficient service- except this one. I had a bad experience the first time I went: They were already closing up two hours before they were supposed to actually be closed, so a lot of the options were unavailable, because they had already put them away. Unlike the other locations, they had no efficient structure to keep the line flowing, so I waited about 20 minutes to be able to sit down with my food. The staff was also really grumpy- you could tell they didn't want to be there, which is probably why they were already closing up two hours before actual closing time. I was tempted to write a review after that incident, but decided to give them another chance tonight. Well, it was worse. I don't like to assume, but it seemed the kids working the line were high, because they were moving so slowly and were dumbfounded at simple requests. Many options were unavailable and not being refilled- the staff (even the manager) seemed out of it. I made a comment about it to my girlfriend standing in line next to me, and the girl in front of us turned around and told us that this location is always a "sh*t show," and that it takes her no less than 20 minutes every time. I believe management needs to be trained by corporate to provide a structured way of keeping the line flowing while adhering to the customer needs and refilling the trays as needed. I plan to make the 20 minute commute to cava in stone oak, because it's a consistent and structured experience. The rim needs training. read more

The black lentils were raw and basically uncooked. Not sure if it was the honey chicken or the roasted vegetables but there was so much spice, couldn't taste the food.
