I've been to many Mongolian bbq places years ago so when I found Chang's nearby, I was super excited. Straight on the door, they showed you the All-You-Can-Eat price. I was a bit surprised as the price has increased in the past few months (looking from some previous pictures) but no problem as we were craving for dinner. When we entered, one of the staff noticed us. He pointed a booth for us and asked us to go straight to the buffet. They provided disposable gloves to keep the spoons clean. They have thin sliced pork, beef, chicken, and lamb, as well as tofu for protein. They also have shrimp & squid (previously frozen) at the end of the line - after the sauce section. The vegetable looked fresh and there were lots to choose from. I was super disappointed with the sauce. They were all watered down. For the first round, I put a ladleful of each sauce that I wanted but after it was cooked, the food was bland! So, for the second round, I put two ladlefuls of each sauce and still it was bland. For the third round, I basically doused my bowl with sauces and it finally tasted something. Also, the squid pieces that I picked wasn't cooked - was still raw & rubbery. With AYCE, you'll get a big bowl of rice, soup, and crispy wonton chips. The soup was bland. The crispy wonton chips were good. Overall, it was too expensive for the price. The meat & veggie quality were good but the sauce was meh. It was a solid 3.5 stars for me. read more

Lunch prices have gone quite a bit higher since my photo in 2022. As of September 2023, lunch is $16.45 and dinner is something like $18-19. Not so great of a price anymore. Teriyaki sauce is pretty much like water (no flavor) whereas my mom said hers with soy sauce was too salty. Ice cream is only vanilla and extremely sweet. This is a wonderful restaurant with fresh ingredients. Staff has always been pleasant and each time I have now come here as been just as good as the previous time. Wearing a mask and using gloves, the options are many and safe. There are six meat options, many veggies, two size noodles, and ten oil options including garlic, soy, and teriyaki. The food as with other Mongolian grills, is right in front of you. Watching your choices grill just makes the time to eat even more anticipated. The won tons are always fresh also. Located in a shopping strip mall, access is easy as parking is plentiful. There is a break between lunch and dinner time but good hours open will make customers happen as they are open good hours. read more

I'm a big fan of Genghis Grill so thought I'd try this. I'm not a fan of frozen shaved meat first of all. The beef turned out so grissley that I kept pulling pieces from my mouth. I love the noodles, broccoli and zucchini. But even with 3 ladles of teriyaki, there was no flavor. The pour so much water on it that it really dilutes it. So I dumped soy sauce on it at my table. I was brought very tasteless egg drop soup, rice and greasy fried wonton after I was through with my bowl. Soft serve ice cream was the best part The buffet line was such a mess. Yuck. This place is my favorite restaurant. It is comfort food at its finest. The food is prepared on a large circular grill, where the chefs practically dance around it while stiring and tossing your plate of happiness. The wait staff are attentive and you'll start out your visit with a bowl of rice for the table, fried wonton wrappers, that act as chips, with some sweet and sour sauce, and a small bowl of egg drop soup for each person. They have the best selection of toppings for your bowl, including water chestnuts which I have struggled finding elsewhere, and a wide variety of sauces. The first bite is always the best, and the second best is at the end, where I recommend adding a spoon or two of rice to your bowl to absorb any sauces left over. My only grievance is that you can only take home your first bowl, once you get your second you cannot take home your leftovers, which is unfortunate as I can usually only make it halfway through my second. read more

They offered a variety of noodles, meats, veggies, and even shrimp! As always, you can create your own concoctions of sauce and flavorings. Overall the quality food was good. Very expensive comparing to what we get. Egg flower soup was terrible with no refill. Waitress just say we ran out even though it was still another 90 minutes before they close. No eggroll just a basket of wonton skin. Since they only allow one bowl at a time. After the food was cooked, it was like 5-6 bites of food and you have to go do it again. The whole restaurant filled with grill smell. So be prepare for that stink. read more

Went for dinner. ALL the sauces were watered down...ALL!! I know this because I have all the sauces at home... oyster sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, chili oil, etc. Then as my food cooked, a hug bowl of water was poured over my food, which took all flavor away from already watered-down sauces! Can't believe I've never tried Mongolian BBQ before until recently. I've always seen it at the malls and everything but never got the chance to try it. Endless noodles and toppings? Say less, I'm in. Saw this place had good reviews and was recommended by someone we know. It was also really busy when we went so we had to check it out. It's $17.95 for Dine-In or Togo but Dine-In is All You Can Eat so we decided to eat there. The whole process is super quick. There's a good selection of meats, veggies, noodles, sauces, and etc. They provided these Wonton Chips w/Sweet & Sour Sauce and it was literally so addicting lol. The soup was okay. They also have some rice on the table. Then they have Ice Cream for dessert but we were already full after one round. Service was great and staff was friendly. Disappointed! I read the reviews and thought this would be a good one as we have loved other Mongolian grills in the past. We honestly have a very minimal standard with Mongolian food as we have also loved the ones in strip malls in the past. But this place was totally not what the reviews here mentioned. The hygiene and cleanliness is substandard. They charge 18.95 per person unlimited. But what is unlimited? Half of the containers were dirty with an oil residue shining on them. Food was spilled out from all the condiments. The frozen meat (esp the pork) stunk a bit. Their meat shavings are so thick which seems to be a good way of filling up your container. The sauces weren't as potent as you would want them to be. I literally had to pour 4 chili oils and 2 1/2 soy sauce for my food to even have a mild taste. They say unlimited seafood but the only items they had was an empty pot titled calamari and the one with shrimp is placed in the end so that you would rarely get any. The egg drop soup they offer is in such tiny bowls that it's a joke. It wasn't tasty at all. The only saving grace was probably the soft-serve (which they advertise as unlimited dessert) Very disappointed and it was money thrown down the drain with this visit. This is the best Mongolian BBQ restaurant in the Sacramento area. The inside is clean, spacious and cool. The servers are friendly, efficient and customer orientated. The food section is varied and at dinner time, said and shrimp are part of the selection bar. They are reasonably priced. We always look forward to going here for our lunch or dinner. read more

My first time at a mongolian grill! I've only been to a mongolian grill within a chinese buffet restaurant and I always like the food so I was curious to see how it would differ. There was definitely more meat and topping choices. For my first bowl, I got a bit of beef, lamb and pork. For veggies I added cabbage, green onions and mushrooms. After seeing it cooked all together, I would probably get more meat than noodles because the meat shrinks. Overall, I think the quality of the ingredients was pretty decent. I'm not sure if I prefer this kind of food in general so probably wouldn't be back often but if I wanted mongolian grill, I wouldn't mind coming back. read more

It's not bad for the price and the fact that the price is for an All-You-Can-Eat option. We came in on a busy time, but we were seated immediately as soon as we came in. The line into the cooking area was long, and did keep getting longer, until another cook came in to help. The place is clean, except for the area where you assemble your food bowl. A lot of the food was scattered around and even on the floor. The sauces area was a merry splatter around. But that did not stop me from making my bowl combination, getting it cooked and enjoying the meal with my family. The service was outstanding. The staff was always there to check up on you...clearing out the used food bowls or refilling your drinks. They also give you soup and rice for your meal. And fried wontons! And the food is healthy...of course, dependent on the combination you select. And flavour is also dependent on how well you combine the sauces into your bowl. I've come in here a couple times with people who made my bowls for me but today I went in for the first time where I would do it in my own. And the man behind the counter who was cooking offered me help in choosing and portioning the sauces to put on my bowl, he said that if me and my friend didn't like it that we could go and throw it away and make a new one. But I trusted him 100% and it came out AMAZING. This place is really great and the people are super nice. The restaurant is also very nicely decorated and I love the feel that you get when you walk in. You can tell they run this place with a lot of care and heart. I went right home and recommended it to my dad as I shared my leftovers with him and he loved it too! So I'll definitely be coming back soon. read more

Came to this place on Veterans Day for lunch with the family and you can never go wrong when it comes to Mongolian. As long as you know what you are doing, you can get A LOT of food for the right price. First things first. The restaurant is pretty clean. Staff was good at picking up the dropped food and cleaning the self serve area. They offer gloves for cleanliness and tongs for every topping so there is no cross contamination. The food. I got chicken and beef for my meats and PACKED them down so I had a good amount in my bowl. The goal is to push everything down to make room. I decided to go with the thin noodles over the thick ones thinking I could get more thin noodles in my bowl. They had sooooo many toppings to offer. I got green onion, zucchini, carrot, celery, mushroom, bean sprouts, broccoli, and jalapeño. Once I got my toppings I added the sauce. They offered a lot of different sauces and I prefer all my food spicy so I tried to make it as hot as I could. Food was super good because I got everything I preferred and wanted. The gave us rice, chips, and a side soup. The soup wasn't my favorite but my step son loved it and ate 3 mini bowls worth. The staff was attentive, checked on us, and gave us time to eat with limited interruptions. For three of us I believe it was $35 including drinks. It has quite an excellent selection of food. For dinner the addition of shrimp and calamari is really stupendous. You get a bowl of rice, miso soup and the waitresses are wonderful and very accommodating. There could be a long line, but it's definitely worth it. This is our kids' favorite spot to eat out. They love to make their own noodle dish. I usually get some chicken, spinach, mushroom, tomatoes, carrots, broccoli, onion, cilantro, water chestnuts, mung bean sprouts and pineapple topped with garlic, ginger, oyster sauce, cooking wine, sesame oil. When you get to sit at the table, you are served with egg drop soup, steamed white rice and fried wonton chips with sweet and sour sauce.
