First visit to this "dance bar" which is in the heart of the gay area (Arenas Rd.) in downtown Palm Springs. We stopped in during Christmas week, and it was packed. Seemed to be more of a mixed age crowd than some other places on the street. Upon arrival, we walked the premises checking out the large front bar, and then into the back area which had the dance floor and a smaller bar. The three of us opted for a table out on the patio which provided the inside music as a background, so having a conversation was possible. The drinks were good and a little more reasonably priced than at our first stop. They had male go-go dancers around the main bar area, providing a little extra visual stimulation over all of the regular customers dancing in the back. All-male bar and wait staff the night of our visit. Overall, I enjoyed myself more than at our first stop, Hunters, which was across the street. I would definitely come back here again.

torn up patio sofa for years. please put some of your profits back into your bar

all i can say is look how run down it has become. used to be so fun and clean. Andy still the best

What's a Sunday afternoon in Palm Springs without a good, old-fashioned drag brunch? A day without sunshine perhaps. More like a day without eyeliner and mascara but never without concealer. Regardless Jamie W and I didn't have to face this conundrum because we ended up reserving a couple of spots for the Sunday brunch. What a delightfully appropriate name. Quite chill indeed. We were seated at the counter where we had a good vantage point for snapping the drag queens as they strut by. And what would be a drag brunch without $18 Bottomless Mimosas? Two please (Photo 9). They certainly weren't stingy with refills. We decided to share the $15 Belgian Waffles nicely prepared with fresh berries, chantilly cream, powdered sugar, and maple syrup (Photo 8). That was enough for us before the show started. The entertainment portion didn't disappoint, as there were five splendiferously dressed performers in constant rotation. We recognized at least a couple of them as veterans from The Abbey, our platinum standard for drag brunch nirvana. The show lasted a couple of hours, just enough time for the sparkling wine to kick in. A gay old time was had by all. DRINKS - 4 stars...the mimosas tasted better the more we downed them FOOD - 4 stars...the waffles were satisfying ENTERTAINMENT - 4.5 stars...the show was top drawer AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...a bit crowded for a drag venue SERVICE - 4 stars...responsive...and the boys looked good, too TOTAL - 4 stars...cumulatively a defining Palm Springs experience RELATED - Exploring Palm Springs? The Chill Bar is...CHILL! My wife and I were introduced to the Chill Bar by a couple we know. It was their Friday afternoon habit, and was a convenient location to join them when we were in town. Sitting in the heart of Palm Springs' Gay Bar headquarters, Arenas Street, this bar welcomes everyone. Service is quick and efficient. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. They have a great drinks menu, a very impressive choice of bar food and more substantial fare.

Out of towners here. Popped in and out of the bars in the immediate area. Definitely best music and crowd. Younger crowd as well.

    Outdoor seating is disguising.

Ask the Community - Chill Bar

Is this a good spot for the solo business traveler?

    Absolutely

Is anything included in the price for the drag show brunch? Or does the $30 just cover the show?

The fee just covers the show.

Hello, we are thinking of coming with a big family this Sunday, as part of my mothers 85th birthday celebration. My daughter is 18 - would she be able to attend the sunday brunch?

Almost certainly not, unfortunately. It's a bar so I am 99% sure that she'd need to be 21 to enter. :/…

Is there a cover charge sat?

    The time I went, No

For the drag brunch, do you have a separate brunch menu? I was having a hard time view it on the website.

We do. Let me see if we can post it here. Update. Didn’t work. We have pancakes/waffles/ eggs/avocado toast etc. will figure out how to get it on yelp.

Do you still have a drag brunch on Saturday September 17th, 2022? And are we allowed to make reservations for a table of 6? Not need for vip, just a table for the bride and her group 💖

Hi. Yes, we post the tickets to Eventbrite as soon as the cast is announced. It's usually three weeks in advance.

When are the shows for Sunday April 10th going to be available?

tomorrow, by the end of the day. On Eventbrite.

Are their drag shows only on Sunday?

Yes. We do shows at noon and 8pm on Sunday. We also host a drag bingo on Saturday at 12:30pm.

Do they have a drag show? If so when and what time?

Last Sunday (Sep 27, 2020), Chill had a hilarious drag bingo event. Not your typical performance of music, but definitely fun and funny. Suggested donation of $5 per set of bingo cards. Bingo caller in drag and joined by some guests in super…

The escargot was beautifully prepared and made even better by the perfectly char-grilled baguette that came alongside it. The steak tartare was an absolute flavor bomb with great seasoning, especially paired with the house-made potato chips. It leaned a touch salty, but in a way that made it the perfect appetizer and somehow had us ordering another round of cocktails. The grilled artichokes were simple, smoky, and delicious. The red curry mussels were served with that same incredible bread and an aromatic, deeply flavorful broth that we didn't want to leave behind. The smoked pork chop was another standout--beautifully charred on the outside while staying perfectly juicy inside. Beyond the food, the service was fabulous, attentive, but not rushed. The atmosphere is quintessential Palm Springs: stylish, colorful, well-lit and a lively environment overall. It made for a memorable birthday celebration, and everyone in our group left happy. Well this one, located in the Arena area of Palm Springs. Theres no name or signs anywhere. You just have to know where to look. Try opening doors and see which one opens. We were walking back to the car when I noticed the doors. As l had heard so much about it but didn't know where it was. Well lucky me, I opened the door with the first try. I had an idea on where it was but didn't know where. That's where the 4 stars come in. As I had the door open, I could hear from the bar area a gentleman yelling out shut the door. Ok, I get the dark hidden concept but yelling out like that, kind of rude. Do you not want people in. It was about 11pm when we walked in. You enter and it's a dark hallway straight to the bar. That'll be what you see right when you walk in. Place is covered in a dark damask wallpaper and only light are small fixtures. So dark and demure. Bar area is the main attraction with all the seating. There's a few hi tops along the wall as well as some seating in the back area. I'm not sure how big the place is as we only went straight to the bar and sat down. The menu is printed to resemble vintage newspaper. The dark mysterious room with tufted seats and dim lights is what this place is all about. But of course you can't leave out the drinks. Centered of the bar wall, there's Udo Kier watching you. Anyways, down to the drinks. Printed on the newspaper was a perfect touch. I went with the pisco sour and we had the bartender make something else with mescal. An updated smoke and mirror I believe. Drinks were excellent which we expected. The whole place is really dark and mysterious which was a nice touch. It wasn't that busy when we arrived Friday night. A couple of people in the back area which we definitely could hear...lol... There was no list to get in as we just walked in. The only downfall with the rating, the rude remark when we walked in with shutting the door all the way from the bar area. Yes we heard it from outside. There were two bartenders working , but we did chat with one of them and she was a sweetheart. Informed us that they too will be closed down for the summer holiday but will be renovating. Places out here closes at least a month for summer holidays and with the slow season due to the heat. First impression of this place, besides the rude remark was we really liked it. The drinks were great and tasty. It's not super big but more intimate. Can get a little loud as people are talking over each other. Could be the alcohol.... It's someplace I would visit again with people who I know will appreciate it.

I forgot his name but the bartender was very nice and you could tell he likes his job. We got there and ordered a drink, and we're lucky enough to get a free order of some delicious bread sticks. The drink was very tasty for a decent price, so I would come back for more drinks.

It caught our attention as we had stayed in two different Kimpton Hotels in Seattle prior. We wanted to grab a drink at the Window Bar (not knowing that was its actual name, but the conversation we had with the bartender about that window shining too much light at certain parts of the morning definitely gave me a chuckle in hindsight). We happened to be a bit early since he had not been able to finish setting up shop yet. We went ahead and waited until he was ready without rushing him because we ourselves weren't in any rush at all. Surrounded by a ton of nice interesting artwork, it was a pure joy to enjoy a drink or two in this environment. The bar can be found at the corner on the other side of the hotel concierge in plain sight from such a big space for a lobby, directly left upon entrance through the front. Since it was slow in the morning, we were able to chat it up with the bartender and even explore a bit of experimentation in the form of a particular top secret cocktail that every mixologist knows. I definitely exercised my etiquette and reading the conditions to even suggest it. He couldn't be any nicer about our time with him. So yeah, Christopher H. from 9/9/18, I don't know what you're talking about. I make it a point to visit the bar at any Kimpton location nowadays. I always seem to have a good time. But then again, I can only speak for myself. Parking: Street, unless you're a guest at the hotel. FYI: - Despite the hours on Yelp saying this place is open from 4-10pm, they might open earlier, as we joined in at around 11am or noon. But don't hold me to it. If there's somebody at the bar, you'll need to simply ask if it is open yet.
