Maybe it's because I had a lower expectations for this place but I was pleasantly surprised so it's a solid 4 stars! Granted, the taste is just standard, it wasn't extra yummy or anything but it's passable. One item that shined was the beef noodle soup with wonton. It's also free refills for the HK tea coffee (my favorite and nostalgia from childhood)! Can't go wrong with that. Service was good but most likely bc we speak the language. Food arrived quickly and they gave us everything we asked for. Very nice casual place. Great price and portion ratio! My sister is vegan & there were a few dishes for her like the spicy garlic eggplant, on choy with garlic, soy sauce noodle. read more

Ordered some food to go for dinner Friday night and was impressed by the foods flavors and quantity! We got the crispy fried chicken which was crispy,flavorful and came with prawn chips, the shrimp with egg had huge shrimps and was cooked perfectly, the yang chow fried rice was as expected! Excellent authentic cuisine. The taste is traditional and every bite has an explosive amount of flavor. Ingredients and quality of food are above average which sets this restaurant as an ideal location when searching for genuine Chinese food. Only complaint is the service. If anyone knows, service amongst traditional Asian delights are not always the best. We were adding a few items to our order and as we were mid sentence with our server, he turned around and walked away. He never captured the order. Otherwise, I highly recommend the walnut shrimp and the pork belly. read more

Food: (22) fried chicken wings, (48) fish filet with vegetable, (194) sautéed peas leaves with garlic, string beans, (260) shrimp fried rice, and some other dishes (while fried chicken, whole fried fish, tofu in clay pot (didn't like this one). Their hot tea was not good. This restaurant was recommended by my Chinese FIL and everything was delicious and fit our large group of (13). Service: we put in a last minute order for green beans and they got it to us right away. Ambiance: you have to enter through the patio in the back through the glass doors. There are a lot of large tables and booths. Parking: has its own parking lot. read more

My family and I decided to eat at this restaurant today even though we haven't been there in a while. We originally thought that they just served to-go, however a side entrance allows for dine-in dining. Previously, there were many people in this location, but now there are fewer people and only a few tables are filled. We ordered the Home Style Fried Vermicelli, House Special Steamed Chicken Noodle Soup, Fried Pork Chop with Spicy Salt, Sautéed Squid with Spicy Salt, Crispy Chicken with Green Onion and Soy Sauce (Half), Pork Intestine with Preserved Vegetable, and Eggplant with Spicy Garlic Sauce. The Crispy Chicken with Green Onion and Soy Sauce (Half) is something I'd suggest because it's delicious and the sauce is great with rice! My family and I enjoy the food very much. read more

Food is okay, 3 stars. We like their Crispy Fried chicken with spring onion. Fried whole fish and Singapore style fried vermicelli. Some customers where blatantly smoking while under a "no smoking sign." Spoke with the manager, he did not care. He seems to side with the smokers. So sad how people don't care anymore. There was a table with 3 small children next to the smokers. We got up to leave but before doing so, pointed to the smokers. Health Department! read more

We got garlic string beans and chicken chow mein. The food was so delicious and so flavorful. The garlic string beans had spicyness to it and the amount of garlic was perfect. The noodles were cooked perfectly too and were well seasoned. Two dishes for the three of us was more than enough and we had a lot of chow mein left over. Two dishes for $30 total is super affordable with generous portions. The service is fast too! Definitely want to come back in the future and try their chicken wings and fried rice. read more

Always taken to go after work. Is it the best Cantonese Chinese food in the area. Have no clue. To many places to count in SGV. Is there parking lot full. Yes most the time. Is it oily? Yeah a little. Do I go back...yes. Generous portions. Separate full serving of rice. A large styrofoam container. Free tea with every entree. Kind of like a McD. I always know what I'm getting. Everybody has bad and good reviews on this place. Sometimes, it honestly depends on your attitude on life and on how you perceive things. How you treat others is how you wanted to be treated correct? If you have a nasty attitude, who knows they might even spit on your food. My parents and I came here a few times over the years, and we never had terrible service or bad food from them. Too me, maybe it's the language that we speak. We speak mandarin and Cantonese, so all the Asian restaurants can relate to the culture. If you guys don't know, most Asian restaurants aren't rude or anything, maybe the way we talk cause it's really loud and sounds kinda obnoxious, but that is part of our culture. We pretty much "yell" when we speak, but we are very welcoming people. The food here is not at all bad. It's the pricing that is a little more expensive now due to the pandemic. It used to be a little cheaper, but hey we all need to make a living. Most places charge a few cents or a dollar more now for every dish. We came here on a weekend (Sunday) and ordered the Eggplant With Shredded Pork, Fried String Beans With Diced Beef, Shrimp With Walnut and Marinated Pork Belly. The Eggplant With Shredded Pork was one of my favorite. A lot of flavor too it and it's really healthy. Eggplant itself has a really plain tasted, so in order for me to like eggplant, it needs some good seasoning. They did just that. I ate more eggplant than anything else actually. Props to the chef that day for making it so delicious! They also fried it a little. Not deep fried but slightly fried to were it has a crunch to it which made it even more delicious. Whatever seasoning they used, it made me wanna eat more and more....! The Fried String Beans With Diced Beef was so delicious. The fried string beans had a lot of garlic flavor in it. Just the right amount to were the flavor melts in your mouth. It just wants you to keep eating more and more. You can become a vegan just by eating it because it's so good! LOL! The diced beef was very tender and very chewy. Lots of garlic flavor into it. It was just right. It wasn't too salty either were it kills the dish itself. This is the other dish I like from the day. The Marinated Pork Belly was pretty good too. Lots of flavor. The pork belly was very juicy and tender. The meat wasn't rough at all. Easy to bite into. It wasn't the best Marinated Pork Belly I've had, but it will still be a dish I would order here again. The Shrimp Of Walnut was ok. I was also more disappointed with the price braked too. $15 for such a small plate with less than 15 shrimps in it. My dad told me it was the lunch menu, so they had to shrink it's sizing of the dish, and also they have to give you less shrimp. Overall taste? It was ok. The shrimp pieces weren't big either. I've been to places that give you bigger pieces of shrimp. The flavor was ok. I enjoyed eating the walnuts more than the shrimp. This is why I knocked down 1 star cause of this dish. Parking is not bad at all. They have a pretty big parking structure for bistro. Front and back parking. They also have a big outdoor patio sitting in case you wanna be outdoors. I liked this place I wanted to love it but here we go. The food was edible. I got the green beans (flavorful 8/10) crispy chicken with green onions and soy sauce (good 8/10) and crispy tofu with mushrooms (ok 5/10) the food is decent here and it's cheap. Just the customer service sucked waited 1 hour for rice. Also not sure if anyone would really care but there's carpet, it's very old and dirty. read more

On a roadtrip up to meet long lost family hungry they suggested the China bistro. They ordered multiple dishes for me to pick up. Although, my experience was brief with the staff they were very friendly. They have a parking lot for dinners. They did turn the main entrance into a pick up window so you do have to enter on the side. The menu is filled and organized for those who don't read Chinese. We ordered the house special shrimp which was my least favorite dish. The shrimp had great flavor but was overcooked. Maybe unlucky but if you have never had this type of shrimp I highly suggest it. We also got a beef dish, fried tofu and mushroom, green beans and white chicken. Everything was just as expected. The other dishes had good flavor and were all still hot once we got to our destination. As a bonus we were given free tea and two large containers on white rice which never happens as everything typically has a price. It was a great meal had with wonderful people which one can't ask for more. read more

This is the second time I came here. The first time I came here with my brother was the opening about a month of the opening. The waiter seat us down and gave us the menu. When I we were ready to order no one came to us. Waited half an hour and no one took our order. So we just left. From then on I said I would not come again. Well I came her again cause my brother want to take our family out to eat. He got there with his family and my older brother first. We got there almost 3 pm. My parents sat down and so did I. My other brother was ordering the food. The waiter left and my brother called the waiter again to order drinks for my parents. There wasn't much customers around only 3 table. The waiter got a attitude and said what you want this time. My brother said he want to order drinks for my parents. The 1st sign. Then the soup came there were 7 of us. The waiter helped us get the soup into a bowl. The bowls did not fill up to the same amount. One or two was almost filled but the rest was very little. Like 3 spoon. My brother asked the waiter for vinegar and fresh chiles. He came back with fresh chiles with vinegar in it. I was going to tell the waiter to change that. We wanted it separately. I got pissed and went to get the vinegar myself. If they have fresh chiles there I would get it myself. I was going to call the waiter again to change it but my brother stopped me. The 2nd sign. Other foods came out. The deep fried fish came out dark brown. The put the sauce on the bottom of the fish. The French Beef has few pieces on the small plate. The plates were small and not that much food on the plate. One of the food was too salty. We were the only one left in the restaurant. My brother paid the bill and we left. The 3rd sign. Got home and got a stomach ache after. The 4th sign and final sign. I would never go to this place. The was the second time. I gave them a chance to make up for the first time they messed up. Good place for Cantonese food when you don't have to wait. Just a tad bit better than average Chinese restaurant. Been here a few times. Nice variety of menu items. Pretty generous portions to eat in and leftovers to take home also. All the dishes I have tried are pretty good. Good size parking lot, pretty clean overall in and out that I can see. WonTon soup was filling and hearty, little bland. Bitter melon Beef with black sauce was good as well. Not a bad option by San Gabriel and Valley Blvd area. 3 1/2 stars would be for them. I was not a fan of this restaurant for the longest time as I always found this place has a weird smell. However, a recent visit changed my perspective. I came here for late night dinner specials. I ordered a Thai fish filet and crispy chicken with green onion soy sauce. The fish filet was not over cooked and the breading was not too thick. It was mildly spicy that I was able to handle. The chicken was super lean. The chicken skin was very crispy. The chicken breast was not dry or rough as well. I am surprised! The cost was very reasonable as well. My friends at China Bistro made our Chinese New Year Eve dinner a feast. I ordered a Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings party tray. This restaurant has been the locals favorite and go to restaurant for authentic Cantonese food. While my dad was alive, he had been coming here for lunch almost every Sunday after church. He was a chef and he liked the food here. It must be good. This is my first time here with my wife. We ordered a few dishes to test out their authenticity. We got a dried scallop with egg white fried rice, seafood tofu in clay pot and a gailan( Chinese broccoli) with dried squid. Both the prices and tastes for the dishes are excellent. These dishes all tasted fantastic and full of flavors. We called this type of flavor Wokhei (flavor created by very hot wok) which is an unspoken essential part of good Cantonese food. Ingredients in all dishes were fresh and abundant. They don't skim on them. My dried scallop fried rice with egg white had a lot of dried scallops and crab meats in the rice. Not too many restaurant put that much expensive dried scallops in a fried rice dish. One dish stands out from this restaurant is the Gailan with dried squid. This vege dish has intense fresh seafood flavor. They had cooked this right by using the appropriate amount of soy and oyster sauce to integrate the dried scallop to create the right flavor and taste. Right now, the restaurant only offers outdoor dining with limited seatings. So come early for lunch as this place tends to get crowded during lunch time. We'll come back to try their other dishes soon. read more

I have been coming to China Bistro for years. This will be the restaurant to go when I dont know what to eat. Tonight I ordered Deep fried pork chop and Beef chow fun with dark soy sauce and they are horrible. After our meal, this is how much left. Pork chop tastes like triple fried since they are super hard and dry and full of bones and fat. Chow fun tastes very bitter for some reasons and we pretty much spit out most of the beef since they are quite chewy. What happened to the soft yummy beef we used to love??? Did China Bistro change chef? Last time when I ordered their fried pork chop it tasted like double fried but we thought maybe the chef overcooked by accident. Tonight after our meal we are pretty sure we won't be returning anytime soon. read more

It's been awhile since I went to China Bistro. Well let me tell ya...do NOT get the clam with spicy wine sauce. I swear it's the most unfavorable, no wine taste, not fresh clams. And douse with lots of peppers and you can't even taste any wine flavor at all. For $21.95, I think I make it better at home! The rest of the entrees we ordered was not good either. I'm not sure it's change owner or chef. It's not the same! Gave two stars because the server was nice to give my lemon tea to go even I didn't ask for it. read more

Great food! We've tried several fried rice dishes, filet mignon French style, salt and pepper squid and salt and pepper pork chops, deep fried chicken wings, fish filet with vegetables, sweet and sour pork, hot braised string beans, garlic baby bok choy, chicken chow mein, and steamed ground pork with salty fish. All these items are excellent. Can't go wrong with any of these. read more

The orange chicken was sliced very thin, and the batter was extra crispy. We enjoyed it, but it's different from the typical orange chicken you'd find at most Chinese fast food restaurants. Grand opening under new management! Nice place, good service and great food! I haven't been to this place for almost one year since last visit. Their service is surprisingly good now. The waiters are very nice and friendly, always check with you and willing to help! The food also look good and tasty. My mom loves the "pork belly with preserve vegetable " it is yummy! My favorite dish is "fish fillet w/ eggplant in hot pot" The fish is very tender. I am glad that they have egg waffle now, it taste soooo good! You must try!!! Sorry, I forgot to take pictures . my friend told me about this.It did not go too well. I ordered the general chinese foods I liked (Mignon cubes, eggplant, fried fish, crispy chicken wings, and curry) 1. It took us forever for the food to arrive, the more recent customers received their food and had higher priority. 2. They served us the wrong dish 3. There was a cockroach in the eggpllant 4. The fried fish was so salty it was inedible. 5. Mignon cubes were not flavored well, and it was oiled, which I believe is how they flavor things here. They dump buckets of oil to give flavor/ 6. Instead of a warm pot, waiters served 3 plates of cold white rice with the 7 of us. We were disgusted and I did not even try to eat it. 7. The curry was so bland, and not even spicy at all. It saddens me to find so many unnecessary negative reviews. This is one of the best Chinese restaurants around!!! Delicious food, great service, and a lively, inviting environment! I noticed that many complained about the noise level -- well, there is nothing the restaurant can do about it! I came here based on a recommendation from a co-worker. The first time I came, we ordered the stir fried rock cod, seafood hotpot, and chicken with mushroom in a bamboo pot. I really enjoyed the stir fried rock cod because it was fresh and flavorful especially with the chili satay that they have on the table. The only thing that I really did not enjoy was the bad service. I am accustomed to having mediocre service at Asian restaurants, but dude this takes the cake. I love this place. I was introduced to CB by a friend of mine who used to live in Rosemead. On Sundays we hike and then head to CB for lunch and it never disappoints! It is always busy and always loud and the waiters are always running around like crazy - they are not the friendliest, but very efficient. The iced tea is the best in Southern, CA. I love the Vermicelli Singapore style and the sauteed green beans with meat - both total winners. To be honest, every dish I have ever ordered there has been great. The food was surprisingly good but I came here with fairly low expectations. nothing amazing but it was good. Broccoli was fresh and cooked just right for me, soft yet crunchy. A descent place for Chinese food. They have a little bit of everything and they keep great hours. For the food it's a strong 4 stars yet the service falls down a bit between 2-3 stars. They serve a good strong cup of coffee too. We ordered the wonton beef noodle soup, glass noodle shrimp, and peking style fried pork shop. All were delicious and cooked perfectly, and for the price all are a good value. The parking is terrible so you'll have to park on the street on normal dinner hours. First time I came here, I liked it. Yang Chow Fried Rice was pretty good. Second time I came here, we ordered Lemon Iced Tea and had the Fried Rice again. The meal was pretty good but everyone in our group had extreme nausea. Third time I came here to eat with my cousins, we all ended up with extreme nausea again. I almost threw up. Situated inside an 8 parking spot lot, this restaurant has limited seating. During lunch rush, getting a seat may be difficult. I drive here after I tried them in Postmates because I want them to get all of my money. Postmates charges a service fee to the restaurant when you order from them so they always end up double-dipping: they charge the restaurant AND you to use their service. However, because they charge the restaurant a percentage of their sales, restaurants will often increase their prices on Postmates. So the prices you see are often inflated by 20-30% to offset the greed of Postmates. I come here quite often now for takeout. The staff speaks English well enough and my Mandarin takes care of the rest. I've had their braised spare ribs and cabbage rice dish. The savory flavor of the ribs worked wonderfully with the stir fried cabbage. The sauce ends up being absorbed by the heaping portion of white rice underneath. However, the true reason I come back is their desert: chilled pear and white wood ear soup. MY GOD. Sweet without being saccharine, thick without being too goopy. If you've ever had white wood ear as a desert drink, you know what I'm talking about. There is NO OTHER desert as cooling and refreshing. To amplify the cooking nutritious effect, they also add goji berries and jujubes--the two kings of health when it comes to Eastern Medicine. The bowl of noodles is $14.50, and the combo is $18.50 which includes a side of vegetables. I came during lunch, and the place was pretty packed--every seat was taken. They have a lot of tables, so I was surprised to see it that full. Service was great. The staff brought water right away and asked if I preferred it hot or cold. They work quickly and efficiently. The atmosphere is good for small groups. I didn't see many large tables, but they can push tables together for bigger parties.
