Service and ambiance: low. Food: OK. We approached the counter near the cashier. He was handling orders "to go", and completely ignored us for several minutes. Not even a nod, or an "I'll be with you in a moment". We ordered, and he didn't ask "for here?". We found one clean table and sat there. Another table was empty but completely filthy with food scraps. It remained that way for the duration of our visit. When the food was ready, it was all packed "to go", including a plastic bag, and way too many plastic utensils. We usually avoid single-use plastic! The utensils were horrible quality: so flimsy that I would not use them. We found some real silverware hidden away in the back. They apparently have real plates, because we saw another party with real plates. The food was just OK. Nothing special. I will never go back after this kind of service. Do not be fooled by the good reviews of the breakfast burritos!! I'm sure they're fine, but this was the WORST Mexican food I've ever had. We were in the Richmond and craving Mexican food last Saturday. Cielito Lindo had been on my list to try for a while, so we sauntered over there, hungry and excited. We honestly should have turned around and left after arriving and seeing how dirty the place was. The small, cramped dining room was filled with massive tables that are way too big for the space and a huge neon speaker standing in the corner blaring excessively loud music. Each table was COVERED in the remnants of the previous guest's meal and hadn't been wiped off. I'm not snooty or pretentious when it comes to dining, but please wipe off the tables after diners have left!! It's so gross to sit down and see the remains of someone's guac crusted on the table! There were literal pieces of meat left on some of the tables! The cashier was sitting behind the cash register on his phone, could barely be bothered to look up when we approached to order (clearly too busy scrolling TikTok to wipe the tables either). We ordered the quesabirria tacos and the chicken enchiladas. We were both SHOCKED when our order came out to $52!!!!!! $52 for TWO items??? I don't believe that all Mexican food should be cheap, but it doesn't feel great to pay that much when the restaurant is so dirty and the service is so bad. We were hoping that the food would blow us away in terms of taste and flavor to redeem the experience. Unfortunately, we were sorely mistaken. My enchiladas tasted like they had NO salt or seasoning on them -- just a pile of bland chicken wrapped in soggy tortillas topped with soggy shredded lettuce. The rice was COLD -- like, fridge temperature! How is that even possible?? The only good part was the refried beans. My partner's quesabirria tacos were also extremely bland and under seasoned, and the consommé was luck warm and tasted watery. We barely ate half of our meals before boxing them up to take home. I write this in the hope that the owners and employees of Cielito Lindo read this and take some more pride in their work. It's disappointing to pay such high prices for a dining experience that is so shockingly bad. read more

Where to begin with this place. Authentic food. No longer have to drive to the Mission to get quality Mexican food. The birria is amazing, even made it into a Torta. The breakfast burritos are filling, a great price, and you can custom make them with your fav ingredients. For me its, rice, avocado, cheese, onions, cilantro, and chorizo. I'm driving a pretty big truck so parking was unfair to me today. I park far and on the way over to the taqueria I figured I should just eat there. As a first-generation Mexican American, I can confirm that the food here tastes and smells authentically delicious, bringing back memories of my childhood visits to Mexico. After a long night out in the city, my friend and I were looking for a place to have lunch. I've come here before and wanted her to try it as well. Before you walk in you can see their cute mariachi sign and restaurant name. This Mexican food joint may not seem like much when you walk in but it has a sense of home and a resemblance to the authentic small restaurant feel in Mexico. It's surrounded by lots of color and friendly faces when you walk in, welcoming you into the space. This time instead of getting my usual burrito with potatoes, eggs, and chorizo (which is so delicious, warm, and just the right balance of meat, potatoes, and eggs. A great breakfast choice!) I decided to have their quesa-birria tacos. We ordered a 4 taco plate to share and between us girls, it was the perfect amount. The tacos are so meaty and fill you up quickly. The consomme which you dip your tacos into was hot enough to enjoy and not burn your mouth. And they add in some limes and cucumber as something refreshing. If you like spice make sure to ask for their red and green salsa which each gives your tacos a good kick. Cozy space and great service. The tacos are better than what you'd find at most places. I ordered a quesabirria taco and two regular tacos for a total of around $20 after tip. That's quite a bit for tacos, but this is San Francisco and other places often charge even more. The quesabirria taco, which cost around $7, was good, but it was the first time I tried it, so I don't really have a reference point. Surprisingly, it was the pollo taco that stood out the most. A quickly visit to San Francisco to ride the Golden Gate Bridge. Ridding the bridge got us hungry and stomped upon this restaurant. The inside is simple as well as the menu. The tables are not clean at all! Coffee stains, hair, food crumbs. That is why I took the tool one start. The menu has vegetarian options (big plus). We order 5 beef tacos, chilaquiles and enchiladas. My enchiladas were vegetarian which they put beans in the inside, a lot of potatoes and carrots, lettuce and aguacate (yummy)! The plate would be perfect for 2 people, it was a large amount of food. The kiddos like the tacos. The chilaquiles were a bit too spicy for my husband, but very delicious, again the plate would be perfect for 2 people as it was a lot of food. Cannot forget the aguas frescas were delicious! Long overdue review since February. Was craving a breakfast burrito and found this little gem. First of all Judith is so sweet and personable which made the experience all the more enjoyable. I was really sad when I realized the burrito I ordered didn't come with sausage. When the staff found out, they ended up adding sausage on the side for me (without request)! It just seemed like they truly care for their customers, and I really appreciated that. Came to Cielito Lindo during my lunch break, and never did I expect an authentic tasting Birria taco spot within the Richmond District! I have definitely tried better Birria tacos elsewhere, however the Birria tacos here are pretty decent and yummy. I think the tacos were fried decently and were not soggy. It could use a little extra crunch which can be done with a little more frying time. The taco was definitely loaded with juicy Birria. One of the best taquerias in the city, maybe even Northern California. Same owners as Chinos Taqueria up the street so you know they are good at what they do. I get there breakfast burrito at least once a week. My favorite being the egg and potato with avocado added to it. I have to say, though, the Quesabirria is out of this world! This is a wonderful spot for breakfast burritos and lunch. Owner/manager (Jose) is super warm and welcoming and made me feel as if I were a regular there for years. I sat outside at their little outdoor table, but could have just as easily sat at the neighboring public parklet. Amazing!! That's the only way to describe this place. I was told about this restaurant by a friend of mine who went there and loved the quesibirria tacos. So, I told my partner that if he drove me there (we live far from this spot) that I would buy him the tacos. He did. I did. And we both loved the dish so much we want to go back and try other things now. We also had cucumber agua fresca with tajin and it was so delicious and refreshing! When we got to the restaurant there was no one else there. We originally wanted the food to go, but decided to just stay there and eat. My two favorite spots for breakfast (Roosevelt's tamale parlor and Padrecito) closed recently, so I have been in search for a new restaurant. I asked if they had black coffee and the cashier said yes, but when I got it, it was cafe de ollo, which is a cinnamon sugar coffee. I have a strong distaste for sugar in coffee and wasn't told that this was what they had. I ordered the chilaquiles and asked if it could be made with green sauce and was told the could be, but when it arrived, it was red sauce with green salsa on the side. Chilaquiles is one of my favorite meals and I have never had a bad one anywhere, but I was very disappointed by this one. It was also quite expensive for the quality of the food, atmosphere, and for being an order up front sort of place. My chilaquiles was $15 and so was my boyfriend's huevos rancheros, which he found acceptable. I'm sure this place has a lot of great food, maybe I just ordered wrong, but it wasn't for me. read more

I've always wanted to try the dippy tacos but never knew of a good place to get them... we were at GGP and went on Yelp to find a place for lunch, this was one of the first places to pop up! My bf and I just grabbed lunch on a Saturday, we ordered 2 quesabirria platters, a side of rice, and horchata. I have never tried birria before even though I've seen it's the latest hype...
