First, order then, pay inside the restaurant. There's a 3% charge if paying with card. There's no extra fee if paying via cash. Staff will give a number. Display number on the table for them to bring made to orders. Ambiance is come as you are! We were lucky to be surrounded by a few different, smaller groups speaking Español. Steak Tacos (2 per order): Hubby said his steak tacos were awesome! That's a high compliment from a person who gravitates to Chinese food when he's happy and sad. Hahahahaha! Steaks are made fresh to order, juicy and tender. Steak Quesadillas (4 slices per order): Pieces are tender, juicy, heat hot, surrounded with cheese, and grilled on flour tortilla. Da OG Tostada: Fresh blue crab, ceviche spread, fresh avocado slices. Able to taste the crunch from the tostada. Do not underestimate the size. Filling and flavorful chill after consuming just one. Salsa and Chips x2: Homemade tortilla chips fried to crispy perfection. Fresh and crunchy. Nom! Nom! Nom! Homemade salsa in Español is caliente! Locals will describe it as fiyah! No more oily chips! The only quirk that turns me off is the parking situation, which is in a block fashion where you park and someone may completely block you in and you gotta ask them to move their car so you can get out. I honestly think you're better off dining in rather than ordering takeout. We came here on Father's Day, so I knew it was going to be busy and decided to order takeout instead. Since everything is made to order, I expected the food to come out fresh. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. While waiting for my order, I watched it sit on the counter for quite a while as an employee continued prepping crab tobiko. During that time, at least five parties who ordered after me received their food first. It seemed like getting completed orders out to customers should have been prioritized. Another concern was seeing a gentleman preparing cucumbers sneeze twice while working. The reactions from the other employees suggested they noticed it as well. The owner appeared to be actively supervising the staff, and I understand that holidays can be hectic, but it was still something that stood out to me. Once we got home, the shrimp ceviche was a big hit. Unfortunately, my tacos were soggy, which I suspect was due to how long they sat on the counter before being handed over. Hard to get parking at peak hours. We went during lunch and were able to tandem park. Just have to plan on timing it right or working with the people parked behind you. MY FAVORITE PLACE! Literally the best ceviche and fish tacos. Ceviche is always fresh and the fish tacos are seasoned perfectly and always crispy on the outside. Blue crab dip is ok by itself, I feel like it could've used a little lime but adding that with your ceviche and hot sauce is amazing. It's been a little busier so seats are sometimes limited but people are always coming and going so wait not long. Staff is super friendly. To start this off, just straight up WOW. This spot has been on my list for a while, I have been wanting to come by but never pulled the trigger on driving to this side. I happened to be on Aiea side to do a hike so grubbing on some amazing Mexican food was the best way to end the activity. The parking was a bit wonky, so we drove to a nearby lot, parked there, and walked over. It was a bit self-service, with tables you grab yourself and you just order at the counter yourself (although they do bring the food out to you). There are tables outside and inside. We got the taco cabo, ceviche tostada, and steak quesadilla. - The taco cabo was 11/10, it was SO GOOD and a MUST ORDER. - The ceviche tostada was good but I felt like if all the components were separate, it would be much better, 7.5/10. The blue crab dip started to mix and get watered down by the vinegar from the ceviche and it was just kind of hard to eat. - The quesadilla was good but nothing special, simple and well done 8/10. After trying their ceviche and blue crab dip at a pot luck we wanted to actually show up and give Da Seafood Cartel a go. The food was phenomenal, the staff were helpful, and the vibes are exactly what you'd expect from a locally loved food spot. My fiance and I ordered two Camaron Cocido Tostadas, when they brought the food to our table we were surprised by how big they were, especially that they came with full shrimp pieces and a slice of avocado all sitting on-top a crispy tostada slathered with their blue crab tobiko spread. All of these ingredients provided a rich tangy refreshing flavor that will leave you wanting to order another one. The steak quesadilla was packed with juicy seared steak and savory cheese that tasted delicious. Last but not least the shrimp tacos were fantastic, the shrimp is fried in a tasty beer batter and served with corn tortillas and a spicy sauce. They were pretty big too and super filling. Overall all the food was fantastic and worth the price! The staff were great and they bring the food to you where ever you end up sitting at, outside or inside. The music they have playing is a mixture of banda and other Latino music. The music is pretty loud though which isn't really a big problem but it did make it pretty difficult to hear what the server was saying when they were taking our order at the counter. I recently came back here for the second time with my dad and learned that he worked at this very gas station (which is now this amazing Mexican seafood restaurant) - as a gas attendant when he was in high school. I love that they kept the vintage charm of this gas station - Da Seafood Cartel is truly an Oahu gem! For round 2, the one dish that I did reorder was the mixed seafood taco. A classic! I'll always order this whenever I come here. A new item that I tried was the marlin quesadilla. Whoever says that fish doesn't go with cheese, needs to try this quesadilla. The marlin is kiawe smoked, so it has more of the flavor profile that gives pork more than fish. It's also super oily ( in the best way). If you're not really into fish or raw fish, this is the dish to go for. Instead of ordering the ceviche, I went for their tostada la basta. It has shrimp, octopus, mahi, and ahi in their special black sauce. This was good but having tried their ceviche before, I'd probably go with their ceviche next time. Always drove past this place when it was Wally hos and just had to try it now that it is the sea food cartel. Located next to "Dixies" on kamehameha highway. Parking is shared witb Dixies and other businesses nearby. It was a service station turned into a restaurant. The dinning area is mainly outside (Where the gas pumps would have been) they have metal tables and metal chairs ( alot of the metal chairs are wrinkled and bent not comfortable and definetely unsafe and shouldnt even be used) wish I took picture...they also have 2 or 3 tables and chairs inside as well (dont believe its airconditioned either) The set up is kind of odd. To order you would proceed inside order your food and pay...there is an option to tip when you order then they would give you a number and their wait help would bring out your food and when you finish you would just leave everything on the tables...odd because they have wait help but doesnt seem like it would be a place to tip. The staff didnt seem friendly at all except for the cashier that rung us up and I am thinking that he was either the general manager or owner. Here they pretty much stick with all lime. My favorite item on the menu is the OG Tostada ( blue crab tobiko spread on a crispy tostada, topped with shrimp ceviche , onion, cucumber & avocado). The blue crab spread is soooo good and adds a wonderful creaminess to the acidic seafood. I bought a 12 oz side of that crab dip with tobiko to go just to grind with some tortilla chips and sparkling wine at home while watching football . Throw in some avocado and that's just plain good eats! The CHIPILON Cooked shrimp, shrimp crudo, octopus, and fish crudo topped with purple onion, serranos, and cucumber in special Cartel Sauce and served with homemade chips is also a winna! Served chilled it's super refreshing on a hot day. The tomato-ee citrus sauce with cucumber, onion and serranos almost gives the dish a gazpacho like feel with shrimp. Soon after returning from our trip to Japan and Korea, my eldest sister suggested we have lunch at Da Seafood Cartel, thinking we were "tired of" eating Asian food. Although we weren't tired of Asian cuisine or the global gourmet food selections served onboard the Oceania cruise ship, we happily agreed to meet her in Aiea. We knew exactly where this cafe was located since we have passed by several times en route to the Pearlridge Shopping Mall along the Kamehameha Highway. We remembered this site as the former Wally Ho's service station and its longtime neighboring restaurant, Dixie Grill. However, this would be our first time to eat here since we're not usually fans of eating out in the open air and didn't want our dislike of al fresco dining to dampen our lunch get-together. We arrived shortly after 11 a.m. and parked in the tandem parking lot on the right side of the restaurant. Multiple open tables and seats were available outside, but when we entered the restaurant, all the indoor tables and seats were taken. There was also a four-person-deep line in front of the order counter. We quickly looked at the handwritten chalkboard menu and then at their printed menu to choose our lunch. Instead of ordering individual meals, we opted for their house special seafood platter or "Da Mariscada" priced at $48.95 and four Agua de Horchata ($6.95 each). After placing our order at the counter, we were given a numbered placard to put on our table so the servers could accurately deliver our order. The seafood platter was filled with shrimp ceviche, aguachile with shrimp, poached shrimp, and callo de hacha (a type of scallop), topped with Sonoran special sauces. The server also brought us a basket of fresh fried tortilla chips. Each bite of the lime juice-cooked seafood was refreshing and tender. The aguachile with shrimp had quite a peppery kick and a tangy, acidic bite. Red and green sauces added to the spicy level and acidity. We liked the fresh avocado slices atop the shrimp ceviche and the pickled onions (cebollas curtidas) that gave this dish color and more textural mouthfeel. There were eight raw callo de hacha-sized U10-20, which we let slow-cook in the citrus-based sauce before devouring them. We easily finished the tortilla chips and seafood platter among our foursome and quenched our thirst with icy cold horchata. "Unexpected guests" of roosters, hens, and chicks freely roamed near the diners and seemed tame as they didn't flinch or scatter whenever a human moved towards or at them. Also, on a weekend morning, we could see how brisk business was here as many customers from nearby military bases and residents flocked to Da Seafood Cartel, filling all of the indoor and outdoor tables. We enjoyed the welcoming and efficient service, seafood freshness, flavors, presentation, and value. However, the outdoor dining experience along busy Kamehameha Highway isn't something that we'd want to repeat. read more

Parking is definitely a challenge and if it's busy you will have a very difficult time trying to get parking. There is seating inside and outside. I ordered three items off their menu. - Ostiones Da Seafood Cartel which is supposed to be fresh oysters topped with shrimp ceviche and BSOD (don't know what that is). - Tostada Embarazada which has blue crab spread, cooked shrimp, octopus, and ceviche. - Whole Fried Fish which had a whole fish, rice, pico, slaw, lettuce with dressing, and corn tortillas. The tostada was okay. I wish there was a larger tostada or maybe 2-3 tostadas to go with the amount of toppings. The whole fried fish was good. It wasn't dry and fried nicely. The rice on the plate I didn't care for and felt it was a bit flavorless. The slaw, pico, and salad were nice toppings for the fish in the corn tortillas. The oysters were not good at all. I am a seafood lover and have ate many different types of raw/cooked seafoods. The oysters we had were not fresh and had a bad fishy taste. I ate the first oyster with all the ceviche and tasted the bad oyster. I then wanted to try the oyster without the toppings to see if it was maybe just that one oyster, unfortunately it was even worse on its own. My sister also ate an oyster and had a horrible taste in her mouth. I have eaten many oysters raw/cooked small/big. I know when an oyster is bad. I spoke to the staff about the bad oysters and just asked them to take it off the table. The staff later came by the table apologizing for the oysters and provided a refund. The refund was not asked for, but I greatly appreciated that they did that on their own. The staff explained the oysters came in fresh the day before and that the taste is probably affected by the size of the oysters. Overall, I did not enjoy my food as I thought I would with all the reviews I've seen. I'm glad I tasted and tried for myself. read more

Few tables located indoors, more seating outdoors and it was packed by 12:30. We were able to grab a couple of seats indoors along the window counter. Started with the chips and guacamole - the guac was creamy. Chicharron de Pescado was another good starter - liked them with both dipping sauces. Hubs went with the Steak Quesadilla and I went with the Taco Cabo. We enjoyed both. They may look small but were quite filling and full of flavor. read more

I went to Da Seafood Cartel after a short hike and I just wanted something light and refreshing. A no frills joint but plenty of seating around 4 pm inside and outside. Da OG tostada paired with a Mexican coke hit da spot! Friendly service. I can see how the parking might be tricky but they do have designated parking, and I had no problems getting in or out. Will return to satisfy future ceviche cravings! read more
