Quaint, cute spot in downtown Saratoga! Indoor & outdoor seating available. I saw photos and preferred the spacious inside. No need for a reservation Sunday during brunch but it's good to make one just in case. I arrived at 12:30pm and outdoor seating was full with two parties seated inside. By 1:30pm, the place was 3/4 full. Eats: Orange Juice Rose-Berry Lemonade Corn Ribs Chicken noodle tomyum soup Darla French Toast Ricotta Pancakes Tofu Scramble *The Great: Ricotta Yuzu Pancakes!! AMAZING! So fluffy and hot-- everything you'd want in a pancake. I don't like ricotta much, especially on pizza, but they make it so smooth like a liquid icing but creamy yellow with yuzu essence. They're known for these for a reason. Corn ribs were DELICIOUS! Buttery and savory with a creamy aioli dip. I ate three pieces and could've eaten more. *Could've Been Better: Chicken noodle tomyum soup barely had any shredded chicken. Maybe some chopped chicken cubes would've worked out. It had typical noodles for chicken soup. It was also not sour or spicy like typical tomyum. All sweet and tomatoey. Tofu Scramble needed more seasoning? Potatoes were good. I should've tried the house marmalade on the bread. They keep some in the little jar on the table. Darla French Toast was excellently executed. Picturesque. It tasted more like bread pudding, slightly undercooked in the middle and would've been great with a crisp exterior for texture contrast. Service was fine with polite smiles. They leave you alone for the most part. Little vase of flowers is an adorable touch. There is parking in the back but good luck on weekends. Great place to walk around and explore local shops.
Found this lovely place on Yelp when I was searching for a breakfast place near Hakone Gardens. We were welcomed in as the first customers of the morning, server was very friendly and accommodating. The menu is American Asian fusion, and their duck confit and waffle breakfast was absolutely delicious! For a group of eight, we ordered all different breakfast plates, and we finished them without anything leftover. Food was so flavorful and I loved the unique fusion of menu items. Inside the cafe, it was very clean, and had a nice, cozy feel to it. Parking was easy to find across the street as we arrived right when the cafe opened. I would love to go back another time and try their lunch items as well. Wonderful place to have breakfast!
I was going to complain about the long wait time but now that I've got my food and drinks I have zero complaints. It did take 40 minutes just to get drinks but the staff hustled and were very genuine and sweet. The drinks were amazing! Espresso martini and nebula. We loved our food too. Totally worth the wait and then some. The corn ribs were the best corn I've had in awhile. Also loved the mango salad; the flavor was amazing. Come here if you don't mind relaxing and waiting. I also loved the early 2000s R&B playing.
Food taste and quantity was good! The wait for the food was a little longer than expected, but understandable given they were pretty busy for lunch on a Saturday. My tofu scramble was very good, would gladly get again.
A darling Asian-American fusion cafe in downtown Saratoga! This neighborhood gives Stars Hollow vibes. With so many interesting options on the menu, our party shared a couple plates: Loco Moco 1: Wagyu beef patty was nice and tender Loco Moco 2: I preferred this version with the Karaage Ricotta Pancakes: initially drawn to this because of the Yuzu glaze! However, I found the sauce to be bitter and the batter too cakey to my liking. Overall, great presentation of food, but the taste fell a bit short of expectations. Service was slow, possibly since we were sitting outside, but the staff were very nice and welcoming. There was plenty of parking in the back lot. If you're not in a rush and looking for a solid brunch spot, Darla would still be a great option!
i LOVEE the cutesy aesthetic decor and food of this place!! been wanting to try this place forever!!! we were so excited!! the menu has so much yummy options. the service was friendly however we waited around 30-40 minutes for our food to finally come. i'm not exaggerating like i have the time stamps are in my pictures. like understand they wanted to make our food delicious and pretty but we haven't waited this long for food especially brunch in a while. my friend was slowly losing it. the wait was so long our sweet waiter noticed and gave us free potatoes to munch on while we waited. also my friend's food was cold when it came out yes the food was yummy!!! i got the florence benedict which came with CRISPY kale. a fun surprise. texture giving crispy seaweed!! (doesn't taste like seaweed dw) wasn't expecting it when i put my fork through, the sauce over the eggs SO GOOD AND BUTTERY love the touch of pomograte with the kale yuzu pancake - got one cake on the side, sweet but also with yuzu light sour taste, hot fluffy iced jasmine with lychee - light taste of lychee very light subtle - jasmine watered down, lychee syrup we want to come back to try more food...but idk if we can wait that long for food
Cute brunch spot in Saratoga with friendly service, but not really special in terms of the dishes. Met up with a friend for a late weekday lunch and staff kindly accommodated my dog. I got the garden scramble ($21) which came with a piece of toast and a serving of potatoes/sweet potatoes. It wasn't really anything mind-blowing but felt fairly healthy and I had a good portion to take home for a second serving. I also got the yok lor coffee ($6.50) which is basically Thai iced coffee with milk. They said it was similar to Vietnamese iced coffee and I immediately followed up by asking whether it would be very sweet. Our server said he would be able to make it less sweet, and he absolutely delivered!
We stopped in for a late Sunday lunch. We sat outside on the back deck. There's a huge tree in the center of the patio. The menu was excellent and very creative. From the menu, I already knew that we'd be returning. My waistline won't let me order everything on one visit!
The ambiance is cozy, w/ plenty of seating. There is a parking lot behind the restaurant. Service was slow and food took too long to come out but they are understaffed that day. The bathrooms were not clean. The food was alright. I like how unique the menu items are. I would not be back, but it was a good try!
I'm surprised Darla Café was so chill on the weekend. Places that offer Bottomless Mimosas can get wild and ratchet (anyone remember Lime in The Castro?). I can't do mimosas anymore but it's fun to watch the drunken shenanigans. "Dis iz meeeee after 10 miiiimooooosaaaas" *Faceplants on table* Darla Café opened two years ago and has been on my list to try after reading the owners are three friends from SF. And, with a menu that looks to be inspired by popular SF brunch spots like Sweet Maple, Blackwood, and Son & Garden. Unlike other hot brunch spots, Darla Café accepts rezzies which is a big plus! We visited on a Saturday around 11 am and was shocked that there was no line or wait, and there were only a couple of tables eating. M E N U AZN fusion brunch fare and Modern Thai dinner fare. Beer, wine, and low abv cocktails (sake and soju). Bottomless mimosas for $25 pp (90 minute limit). F O O D * Chef's Special: "Thai-Green Fusion" Beef Rib w/ turmeric rice, salad, tzatziki ($35): https://tinyurl.com/yc6t56k7 Staff said, this was a Thai and Greek fusion dish. Seemed interesting enough to try but when it arrived, it was just two different cuisines plated together. It felt disjointed and the flavor combo didn't work. My fav part of the dish was the biryani-like rice, fragrant and served hot. The beef rib was meaty and tender but didn't have much flavor and could have been warmer. The undressed greens w/ cucumbers+ pickled onions and tzatziki was fine but seemed like random plate fillers. I wish they didn't water down the nam jim (thai chili dipping) so much but understandable for the area. I asked if they had thai chilies, thai chili powder, or sriracha (basically any AZN hot sauce) but was told they only had tabasco or cholula. * Breakfast Plate: Eggs, bacon, rainbow potatoes ($19) The scrambled eggs were more like a thin omelet with browning. Served with two thin slices of bacon, and a mound of crispy breakfast potatoes seasoned with an earthy truffle oil (best thing on the plate!) * Sides: https://tinyurl.com/4u8ajzbb - Avocado ($4) - Chicken Sausage ($8) - Fries ($5) Only tried the diner style fries which were hot and crunchy. Cozy patio with a huge oak tree in the middle. P A R K I N G Private lot in back. Overall, our brunch at Darla Cafe was underwhelming for the steep price points ($100+ for two after tip with no alkie). Maybe we ordered wrong or the food was better when they first opened? However, with few Asian food options in Big Basin, Darla Café is def worth trying esp if you're looking for photogenic AZN fusiony brunch food with no wait.
Relaxing, beautiful ambience with friendly, attentive service and fantastic food! The menu options are varied and unique, with an obvious eye toward detail and quality. We came for brunch on our anniversary and we loved it. We are definitely going back!
The menu was extensive and very unique. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. The decor inside was sleek and I loved the ambiance. We ended up sitting outside which was not as fancy but still nice and was able to seat a large party. They have a parking lot in the back. The service was ok. I think my favorite was the soft shell crab. I thought the food taste wise was just ok, but the presentation and the variety made eating here enjoyable.
Was getting brunch with some friends and one of them recommend this place as they had seen on Tiktok. The restaurant is very clean and relaxing atmosphere. It definitely gives brunch vibes. We got a reservation for 12:30 but it did not seem like it was particularly needed. Even though it was not packed, service was a little lacking. We got our drink orders in and we got our drinks and had to wait before the waiter took our order for our food. And even after that, the food came out randomly. We got our first order, 5 minutes for our other 2 items, and a whopping 10 minutes after for our final item. DRINKS Blueberry matcha latte: This was on the special menu at the time. The blueberry syrup was good but the matcha itself was lacking. Definitely tasted grassier than matcha usually is and bitter. Upon mixing everything, the drink was overall better but nothing amazing. 2/5 Thai Tea Tini: This was their take on an espresso martini but using thai tea? The drink was very light and fragrant. I personally would have preferred if it was a little more thai tea forward but not bad. Also no garnishes. 3.5/5 Espresso Martini: Very simple and a classic. All the components mixed together very well and the coffee and vodka tastes did not overpower one another. 5/5 MAINS Duck and Waffle: A take on chicken and waffles x duck l'orange. While the duck was tender, the waffles were extremely dry. The orange sauce was a bit heavy and too thick that it didn't really soften the waffles. 3/5 French Toast: My favorite of everything, the french toast was moist yet remained slightly toasted. Fruits were fresh. A classic but nothing too different. 4.5/5 Lobster Benedict: The lobster was overcooked and a little too rubbery. It also took them over 10 minutes to get this to us after we got everything else so I am not sure what happened and if it was sitting out there and got overcooked while it sat. 1/5 Overall, a bit disappointed. There were a couple items left on the menu that piqued my interested but unsure on whether I would return.
Was looking for a brunch spot and wanted to try something new. Darla Cafe did not disappoint. Cute little spot in Saratoga. Ample parking. Visited on a weekday so not sure how the weekend rush is. Staff was super sweet and helpful. I asked for a custom espresso drink based on what I assumed they had and they were happy to accommodate. Not only did they make an awesome drink but presentation was on point. We had 2 of the house specialties. The duck confit was fabulous. Perfect confit and the waffles were crisp, tender and flavorful. The marmalade syrup was a nice touch. The karaage Loco moco was equally scrumptious. Perfect chicken and that gravy was delicious. Come here for the ambiance and vibes, but don't expect too much from the food. It's not bad, but you can get better quality and quantity brunch for the price you're paying. If you're just trying to catch up with friends at a cute restaurant, this is the place. The interior is super cute-- each table is decorated with a mini bouquet of real, fresh flowers. There's a nice outdoor patio as well, so I bumped up the rating for that. This is what we got: Softie Benedict (2.75/5): I'm a crab lover, but this is my first time eating soft-shell crab. Though I liked the crispiness, the center of the crab was incredibly salty and I couldn't finish the dish. The hollandaise was average and the bread was also harder than I would've liked. Loco Moco No. 2 (3/5): the kaarage was nice and crispy, but I wasn't a fan of the ginger gravy-- it was too strong and overpowering. The pomegranate was an unusual but delightful addition to the dish that balanced out the ginger flavor a bit. read more
My friend and I arrived here around 1:30 pm on a Sunday afternoon for a late brunch! Welcome in and have a mimosa! PARKING: There was nearby street parking, which was about 5 minutes away. Sundays are the best day to park in downtown Saratoga since it's free! AMBIENCE: I loved the atmosphere, great for couples, solo diners, friends, and families to enjoy a meal together. They have indoor seating, patio seating, and bar seating. We decided to eat inside since it's a hot day. It's so nice to see the bar and see the magic happen with bartenders making some delicious concoctions. SERVICE: The staff were fast, efficient, and professional. It was just the little things that gnawed at my mind since our server didn't ask how our meal was going and no one out of their 3 wait staff came to refill our waters... Anyways, one woman across from us spilled her mimosa and one staff member was quick to react and helped clean the mess up and provide another mimosa for her. ORDERS: I ordered the Kaarage and Waffles, which came with deep fried chicken, waffles, lemon wedge, spicy yuzu mayo, and syrup. That cost $24, which seems steep for chicken and waffles. The dish itself wasn't underwhelming nor overwhelming, just satisfactory. The waffles were pretty with the powdered sugar, but standard in taste. The deep fried kaarage had great flavors and breading and crunch, that mixed well with the spicy yuzu mayo. The drops of lemon uplifted the flavor profile to be less dry and more zesty. Nice combo of sweet and salty flavors, but overall, it was meeting expectations but lacking to surpass them. RATING: It's a pleasant place to experience at least once in downtown Saratoga. read more
Classy, cute, and interesting unique menu of Asian American fusion breakfasts. Everything was super fresh and full of flavor. The brioche French toast was great paired with the Soju Bloody Mary, add eggs and bacon. It was early on a Sunday morning with no wait and outdoor seating available. The reason we went here is that whenever I see kabocha squash on a menu, I go. As an anniversary celebration lunch, I had picked out Darla's Cafe, and we were there on a Saturday around 12:30. Seating tip: Definitely sit outside in the cute little area. It reminds me of a restaurant we visited in Paso Robles with the outdoor area. The restaurant wasn't too crowded, but more people sat down as we were there. The brunch/lunch menu has both sweet and savory. The items I was excited about were: Pumpkin salad - The kabocha in the salad was really yummy. The ingredients tasted fresh, and the nuts added a nice crunch. I swapped in spring mix instead of kale. The truffle balsamic glaze dressing was good but didn't blow me away. I almost wish they had used the sesame dressing that was on the tofu salad. Also, I feel like the salad needed one more ingredient... like avocado. I like lots of salad ingredients. Snobby salad eater alert. Truffle rainbow potatoes - These were yummy with a good texture. I didn't taste much truffle, though, and I wish there was more rainbow (sweet potato). I would come back to try the ricotta pancakes and the soup that is only offered on the dinner menu. I tried brunch at Darla Cafe on a weekend to celebrate a weekend occasion, and we had reservations. The restaurant and Downtown Saratoga area were very quiet and quaint on a Sunday morning, and we were able to find street parking nearby. I tried the Golden Milk, Duck and Waffle, and Loco Moco No. 2. The Duck and Waffle was a very interesting variation of chicken and waffles, but who would've known that it was a good combination? Unfortunately, the gravy on the Loco Moco was too salty for me and I found the dish to have a bit too much ginger, but I liked that there were bits of pomegranate in the dish. My favorite was definitely the Golden Milk. It was such a good comfort drink and I loved the tumeric and spices. I wish that I had a bigger cup, and would totally come back just to have the drink. I had to take some points off for the Loco Moco, but the Golden Milk is a must try. I would rate this place a 3.5/5 for the food and price, rounding up to 4 stars for the nice ambiance and highlights. read more

We've been to this place a few times before. We came back for Sunday brunch. Not sure if they were understaffed or what. We waited about an hour for our food AFTER being seated--and so did the other 5-7 tables around us. No updates, no check-ins, nothing. Just sitting there feeling totally ignored. And then, to make things worse, one of our drinks had flies in it. Not even just one--multiple flies. Super gross. I get that stuff can happen, but that's just not okay. Really disappointed, especially since we used to like this place. read more
I was excited to try the new addition to the strip here and left disappointed. The kinks are not worked out and don't see myself coming back at least for a while. First off, they only had one waitress during lunch time on Friday and she was doing her best but was just overwhelmed. She also shared that they were short staffed in the kitchen. It was hard to get her attention to place the order and the food took a long time. The chicken karage salad was underwhelming. The chicken was dry and it hardly had any dressing. read more

Lovely little brunch spot in downtown Saratoga! The space is very cozy and gets great light from all the windows. They even have a nice little patio. I enjoyed the fusion flavors this cafe offered. I think it is pricey for what it is, but I was expecting as much for the location. Portions were fine for me, but they might not be enough for big eaters. Service was decent, but not as attentive as I would've liked. Yuzu ricotta pancakes: I actually really enjoyed this. The yuzu kind of overpowered the ricotta, but I think the refreshing quality of the pancakes came from the combo of yuzu and ricotta. Wish the pancakes were a little bit more substantial. Candied bacon: Would not recommend. Taste was good, but I thought it was not worth $9 for 3 thin slices of bacon. Wagyu loco moco: I liked that the gravy had ginger in it. It helped cut the heaviness of the gravy. The patty was smaller than I would've liked, but it was delicious with the gravy and egg. Karaage waffle: I didn't try the karaage or the waffle individually, but everything together with the syrup and cream was so good. If you're looking for a nice place to get brunch in downtown Saratoga that offers some interesting brunch choices, I'd recommend Darla Cafe. read more

Very nice space and friendly staff. Had breakfast there last weekend and we were first to be seated. Loved that they had coloring for the kids, plating and utensils for the kids as well. That starts at 4 stars... We ordered yuzu ricotta pancakes with eggs & bacon (complete breakfast), housemade waffles , karaage benedict with truffle rainbow potatoes to all share. There definitely can be some improvement on execution of the dishes for their price point. Also, glad I didnt opt for some of the $30+ dishes as I feel that it probably would have been a let down. My dish was probably the best out of the bunch, karaage and poached eggs were cooked well but on a piece of toast (a bit odd). Potatoes were fried nicely but lacked any kind truffle flavor. The main misses were my kids waffles, they were very soft (no crisp at all), my wife mentioned they probably just used the same pancake batter and put it in a waffle machine. The pancakes were on the smaller side and thin and I guess had yuzu and ricotta in the batter mixed??? Didn't taste much of that flavor in the pancakes. I had to ask the server if they mistaken it for just the plain pancakes... it was a huge miss! The scrambled eggs were nice and fluffy, but the bacon was thin as paper. This probably would be an overall 3 star because wasnt bad, but the price point of three dishes and two cappuccinos came out to $81 without tip. Btw, my coffee cup had red lipstick smeared from their attempt of washing the cup (gross). Breakfast food is typically affordable and I get if the price tag is up there but the food has to be stellar. I ended up here based on a food influencers post, but sorry to say I probably wont go back for an overpriced mid-tier breakfast. In the end it was 2 stars for us. read more

i saw great reviews for darla and wanted to take my mom here to try for her birthday. Sadly it was disappointing.. my mom ordered a sunrise scramble and the presentation was just sad. Nothing special, some small potatoes and the amount of food was not much for the price value of $20. The toast surprised me because it was such a huge piece and we weren't given butter or jam until we asked for some. I ordered something different to try and was surprised that it didn't fill me up! It was the cilbir. It came with 2 poached eggs, Greek yogurt and a sweet chili oil. It wasn't bad, but it didn't stand out to me. It also came with three pieces of toast that were slightly burnt. I think portion wise and presentation wise it could have been better. I ended up going somewhere to eat after cause I was still hungry and not satisfied. read more
Great new breakfast/brunch spot in downtown Saratoga. It took over the old location of The Basin. They did a nice job of making the space brighter and more inviting during the day. They also have a cute outdoor space which will be perfect for sunny days. The menu for soft opening has a good selection of breakfast items, with both sweet and savory options. There are standard breakfast dishes but also some Asian foods like chicken karaage, porridge, and Chinese donut. We split the Darla French toast and salmon benedict. The French toast was quite filling but not too sweet. The salmon benedict was tasty and I liked the yuzu hollandaise sauce. Darla Cafe is a wonderful addition to downtown Saratoga, and we look forward to dining there again soon. Check it out before it gets crowded on the weekends! read more

i've been coming here pretty much every sunday for bfast or brunch by myself. It's my little hide-out to eat good yummy healthy food and get some work done at the back patio. I've tried a lot of menu items but fav are actually their salad dishes (smoke salmon salad, chicken karaage salad is the bomb, scrambles are awesome and benedicts are wonderful) coffee and cocktail are both beyond expectation. Simply put, they make simple food simply amazing and incredibly tasteful. Service is always attentive and accommodating. I often walk my dog first before i go in and take every opportunity to convince those wonderers outside peeking the menu and inside, to JUST GO IN and try their amazing food, you will NOT regret :) i'll continue my sunday ritual for as long as I live in south bay :) read more

Very impressed. Open airy sunny dining room, really opened up from the prior The Basin decor. They've still maintained the outdoor patio under the huge live oak tree. Staff was uniformly friendly and welcoming and food was promptly served. They have a bunch of clever taste combinations in every stage of the meal. We ordered chicken karaage appetizer which was expertly executed: light crispy hot batter, brined and juicy inside, with a spicy aioli dip. Soft tofu salad came with plenty of thin sliced very fresh tofu in an excellent sesame dressing with julienned dry seaweed, grapes, tomatoes. Burrata came with honey lavender and blood orange citrus slices ..:we vaporized that dish! The shrimp congee was outstanding with lots of fresh ginger and mushrooms, perfect for cool weather. Definitely a welcome, fresh alternative for Saratoga, a very pleasant ambience, service and family run restaurant vibe. Breakfast looks amazing too with innovative comfort food options. This is a really cute, spacious, and modern restaurant in downtown Saratoga. There is a decent parking lot behind the restaurant and street parking nearby. Also have a very cute paddle area for you to bring your pup! We ordered the more popular menu items and the food came out pretty quick! However, service can be slow. They are known for their Thai Japanese fusion brunch and it's pretty decent. Everything was good, my least favorite was the bras they used for eggs Benedict. And my favorite was actually the salad lol. read more

Went here for a Bachelorette Brunch! The area is beautiful, with a lot of things to do since there are a lot of shops near by. I got the Darla's Benedict and it was so good! I loved the fried kale, it was crispy but didn't taste oily. The candied bacon paired well with the yuzu sauce and was overall delicious! The server was kind and quick. The interior is beautiful, where you can sit either inside or out. read more

Second time here coz we could not order all the food that we wanted to try on our first visit. Just simply great tasting food. Got the Duck & Waffle today and it was divine. Perfectly cooked duck, and when paired with that orange sauce, just tasty. Service was a touch slow today due to a big party but still not bad. The atmosphere is always light and vibrant. Came here for brunch with a friend and we were seated right away at 10:30 am! Service was friendly and at a good pace, and we got to eat and chat for a good hour or so. We ordered the crispy stuffed french toast and the florentine benedict, with the potato add-on! The potatoes were my favorite item tbh, and second fav would be the benedict. Some flavors were just a little off- fried kale that came with benedict was quite oily, and the mascarpone filling in the french toast wasn't my favorite, but otherwise a solid brunch spot. The interior is VERY cute and clean, and great for a girls' brunch without being too over-instagrammable. Would like to come back and try their lunch or dinner! Californian type of breakfast. A mix of everything. You can get scrambled eggs, bacon and potatoes, waffles and syrup, or chicken karaage with rice, porridge with shrimps. They are all delicious. Our group of 5 shared everything so everyone can taste all the dishes. Service is not bad. We ordered porridge and it was hard to share since the restaurant doesn't have that many small bowls (only 2) for us to share. Ambiance is very casual. Typical breakfast cafe. Very busy. This experience was sadly so terrible for my group even though we were initially so excited to try this place. We had a group of 9 and made reservations online but luckily one of my friends called to double check day or two later because they said they didn't see our name down for reservations and we made another one. The main reason why we had such a bad experience here was because we had to wait a super long time for our food to come, which I can understand because we're a big party, but it wasn't busy when we came in and they gave part of our table their food but the other part took an extra 30 minutes so we couldn't even eat together. At first we decided to wait for the others in our group to get their food because we thought it would take an extra few minutes only but it ended up being over 30 minutes and the people who got their food became cold. We tried to get the workers attention but when they made eye contact they would ignore us or say "the food is coming" but not really check. To add to it, the worst part of this was we found a hair on one of the plates at the end and when we told the worker, they didn't do anything about it. We ended up having to pay the full gratuity as we had a big party but felt like service wasn't up to par for it so it was a super disappointing experience overall. No sorry, and they didn't even seemed like they cared. We really wanted to enjoy eating here but it was just one thing after another and it's rare for me to have such a bad experience at a restaurant so I had to write this review. read more

I went to Darla's around 12pm on a saturday. It wasn't as busy but we couldn't get someone to take our orders for a good 10-15 minutes. The food is okay, but it's not great for picky eaters like me. The Loco Moco #2 was the only thing I was okay with getting, although I wasn't a fan of the pickled peppers as it was very spicy. This place does have its own modern aesthetic to it. I don't see myself coming back to be a regular, but it was a nice stop over. read more

Edit in response the owner: Specifically the two dishes that came out 30 minutes apart even though they were ordered at the same time were both the softie benedicts which I believe is a part of the brunch menu and the neither the menu stated nor the servers communicated with us about that preparation time starting at 11am. Original review: Arrived in a group 10 for our reservation and we were sat promptly. The ambience is quite nice and decor is cute. The food itself is okay, and quite pricey for what it is and the taste. I really wanted to like this place at my friend's recommendation. It was a little busy so i understand the front of the house staff having spotty service but it was definitely a bit difficult to get their attention. They didn't really check up on us. Took about 45 minutes for 8 people's food to come out and we were missing food for 2 people. We tried to flag someone down to check on their food and they said they'll look for the remaining person's order and we had to remind them we were missing 2 people's orders. It took another 30 minutes for their food to come out which I find pretty unacceptable because they had ordered the same things as us. We saw other tables who had ordered 10-20 minutes after us get their food before them. I feel like their order had gotten lost or they had forgotten about it. Either the back of the house/kitchen needs to get it together or management needs to do something. I generally don't write bad reviews or chalk up things to an off day but based on this experience and as someone who has worked in restaurants for nearly decade, this was a very unfortunate experience. I try to give the benefit of the doubt to places but I personally wouldn't come back or recommend this place to my other friends. I also found a hair under the last piece of bread in my soft shell crab benedict so that was stellar as well! read more

stopped here for breakfast after a morning at saratoga farmers market. the restaurant is on the main drag of saratoga downtown so take street parking where you get it. the restaurant is quite spacious with cute modern decor and a large bar. by 10, there was only one other table there but by 12 the place had filled up. the menu had a lot of asian fusion dishes, both savory and sweet. i got a blueberry matcha to start. it was a little sweet for me tastebuds but overall i enjoyed it. for mains we had yuzu ricotta pancakes and the karaage loco loco. usually i'm always on team savory breakfast but the pancakes were delicious. they weren't too sweet and the yuzu curd on top was the right balance of tart and fruity. we added on a caramelized banana which was perfectly crunchy and delicious. the karaage was also tasty, and the pickles balanced the whole thing out. my only critique is that the gravy itself was a little lackluster for me. all and all really enjoyed the food and the ambiance. they've got a separate dinner menu that i will definitely come back for. read more
Cute cafe with cute ambiance! Located in the heart of Saratoga village with a bunch of other restaurants here. Came on a Saturday around noon and was seated right away. They have an outdoor patio area that looked cute but we opt to sit inside since it was a hot day. We ordered the sangria and also the espresso martini and both were good drinks! One of the better sangria with berry flavors and not watered down. Saw the softie Benedict all over Yelp so had to try myself and it did not disappoint! It was very unique. The darla's burger was also very delicious and had a good kick to it. Didn't care for the potatoes, they were a little dry. Service was ok, didn't check in on us and took a while to wave down our waitress for the check. There's a parking lot in the back and street parking. Definitely give it a try if you're looking for something different for brunch! read more

Pros: A cozy little restaurant with a nice and friendly vibe The food looks good Average customer service - nothing memorable, but not the worst The chicken karage tasted great Cons: The food really did lack a lot of flavor, nothing really packs a punch They missed the mark on a few of the eggs Benedict and the over easy egg came out over hard Our medium rare order came out as medium well The bread they use here under the eggs, Benedict is cut very thick, but also toasted to a level that makes it very chewy The hollandaise sauce is a little weak, but also smothered all over this chewy bread so, if you want the sauce, you have to get through the bread They missed one of our items we ordered You can make the loco moco at home The loco moco was 50% plain white rice with only 1 egg My orange juice was the size of a tea cup I have at home lol Main takeaways: Picture, friendly food that definitely lacks execution If you want a tasty and filling, eggs Benedict dish, you'd rather go to Bill's I think of all the criteria, my biggest complaint would be with the chefs If you cook at home, you really don't need to come here Wrong textures, no flavor, no excitement, and small portions Overpriced and underwhelming read more

The food was good and tasty. It was an empty house for hours that we were sitting there and the staff were not anywhere to be found! We had to walk around to find them twice when we wanted extra coffee and check out service. Just beware the it seems like the service is sparse. read more
Parking is available behind the restaurant so don't worry about parking on the street. The interior of the cafe is beautiful. Really sets the mood for a brunch with friends. Came in with a big party of 11 and was seated fairly quickly at around 1 pm on a Sunday. Service is alright. They're eager to take your order but don't come out to check on you unless you wave them down. Softie Sandwich (3.5/5): The soft shell crab was very crispy but the crab flavor was light. The sauce stood out to me the most which is why it's rated decently well. Potatoes are a mix but cooked well. Karaage Sandwich (2.5/5): Super underwhelming, barely any sauce and somewhat dry in my opinion. It's unseasoned karaage chicken in a sandwich. I would say the food underwhelming so don't expect too much. Come for the pictures and bottomless mimosas. If I ever come again, my next review will be about the sweet dishes. read more
I absolutely love the chicken karage at Darla cafe and I love how they include it in so many dishes. From my experience though, the chicken karage dishes is where they really shine. We got the loco moco as well as the soft shell crab burger and both of those were just okay. The pancakes were so light, fluffy, and airy and the Thai tea sauce was perfectly sweet. Great breakfast/brunch on Jan 1. Super nice location on Saratoga. Everything was amazing. Food is excellent. 5 dishes+ extra bacon+ hot cocoa+ latte+ 2 coffees+ tips= $190. The only issue is the restroom (hope that will do renovation soon). Also, keep in mind that on regular weekends you for sure need a reservation and due to a high demand the waiting time for food serving could be long (but the waiting is a small cost for such a beautiful experience). A friend and I were in the neighborhood for some wine tasting and decided to drop in to eat before we began drinking. This place had really great reviews so we decided it would be a good option since it was 10 min from the winery we were going to. I have to say I'm really disappointed. I ordered the chicken salad and honestly didn't expect it to be fried. Now my actual problem is not that it was fried but it just had absolutely no flavor. If it had any dressing, I couldn't taste it at all. I'm hoping we just came on an off day because it did not live up to the expectation. read more
