Tofu Stir-fry
Lianna T.

o Definitively some of the best Thai food in Austin (from someone who very much likes Thai food). The setting is above and beyond lovely, despite the parking as everyone says. Once you order at the window, the food was ready relatively quickly. We ordered a variety of items, including the papaya salad and each of us were very happy with our mains of Tofu Stir-fry, Roasted Chicken in Thai Marinade, and Street Noodles. The flavors are very tasty, and the food seems to be high quality. I am looking forward to returning to try their other dishes.

This place is great! They moved from Radio over to the new botanical style Leona off Brodie. It's a really cool space with plenty of room to relax. Dee Dee serves up some fantastic Thai comfort food. My go to is the Pad KaPow which is comprised of a spicy minced pork, with a fried egg, & basil over rice.

I was so excited to try out Dee Dee's at Leona. I had heard how great and authentic their food is. Also I just love their story of how they came to be and the labor and love they put into their dishes. Also jackpot on location at Leona! For 3 of us we shared... PadKaPow $17 Extra Side of Chili Fish Sauce 75 cents Roasted Chicken with Sticky Rice $17 Pork Dumplings $10 Everything was beyond flavorful and scrumptious. I would order it all again! The dumplings were my favorite. The sauce it comes with and crispies are so freaking good!!! Can't wait to come back and try more menu items!

Fermented papaya salad

Price is up and it's justified. They moved from the previous food truck park to this plaza and it's nicer. Green curry: so flavorful Fermented papaya salad: hands down the best you can find in austin. Very authentic. They didn't tune down a bit for the American market. Stirred fried tofu: very good, nothing outstanding like the papaya salad though

Dee Dee is now located in a gorgeous third place where there are other bites available and a coffee/drinks place. A perfect spot to catch up with friends and also to be productive! Our favorite dish was the Pad Ka Pow, which was flavorful and delicious. I loved all the components of the dish and it went well with the rice. The Thai fried chicken was also delicious! I loved the sauce that it came with. Perfect amount of spice! The dumplings were the only miss, which I felt could be more flavorful, but were decent. Overall highly recommend the food especially for the value and the space it is located in.

It was a disappointing experience in Dee Dee. The location itself is gorgeous. They have a beautiful garden area that has river and is surrounded by other food trucks. It looks very nice at night. I have ordered pad kapow which costs $17. My egg was 50% overcooked and on the smaller side. The pork was dry and a bit bland. It was also unevenly seasoned with salt. Jasmine rice and what I believe is basil tasted quite good though, but the whole dish itself was incredibly dry. We arrived an hour before closing on Friday night and there was no line, food was ready in like 5 minutes. Service could have been warmer too.

Dee Dee's new location is on Brodie at Leona Cafe, it's a stunning setting! They are now open for lunch and dinner. We ordered online ahead of arriving in case there was a wait but it ended up not taking very long fortunately. The parking at leona is pretty limited so I would come during an off hour. The food is good. I enjoyed the pad kaprow and the fried chicken as well as the dessert. They do have more of a limited menu during lunch hours, so I will need to come back during dinner to try more of their items.

Dee Dee Austin at Feona is such a gem! Dogs are welcome, and the staff is super friendly--instant good vibes the second you walk in. The fried chicken sticky rice? WOW. The chicken is perfectly crispy, the sticky rice is rich and comforting, and together it's basically a little bite of heaven. I tried to just have a few bites...spoiler: the plate was gone before I knew it. And the dumplings oh my gosh. Soft, flavorful, and so addictive I was already planning my next visit while chewing the last bite. Cozy, charming, and full of flavor, Dee Dee Austin is one of those spots that makes you happy you left the house. Come hungry, bring your dog, enjoy the friendly staff, and leave thinking about that fried chicken sticky rice for days. Highly recommend!

I can't believe I've never written a review for Dee Dee! They now have a physical location in the really cute park that just opened with Leona's and Veracruz. I really enjoyed Dee Dee when they were just a food truck. They have really good and authentic Thai food, and they have a even larger menu now! I thoroughly enjoyed their KaProw and pork dumplings. I also vaguely remember loving their Thai Tea at their food truck, but I didn't see it on their menu at this location.

Dee Dee has been my go-to Thai spot for years, and even though I have to fly from LA to have it, it's absolutely worth it every single time. Now that they've found a permanent home at Leona Botanical Café & Bar in Sunset Valley, it feels like a full-circle moment. The expanded menu is incredible while keeping all the favorites that made Dee Dee an Austin staple. My go-to will always be the Pad KaPow. Spicy, savory perfection. I told a friend recently that this dish is Austin to me, and it's the reason I keep coming back. Still the best anywhere. We also tried a few new items this visit: - Thai Fried Chicken: beautifully tender and seasoned, with that perfect balance of Thai chili hot honey and pickled lemongrass. It just hits right. - Pork Dumplings: juicy, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the house-made soy sauce. A solid addition to the lineup. And of course, no trip is complete without their Papaya Salad, my wife's favorite anywhere. The team always packs it perfectly for my flight back to LA because if I come home without it, it's considered a failed trip. Justin and Lakana are such incredible people, and seeing them finally have their own brick and mortar after years of hard work is so inspiring. The new space at Leona is beautiful, spacious, and feels like the perfect home for Dee Dee. If you've loved the food truck, you're going to fall in love all over again here.

Mango Sticky Rice

Tasty casual location! Make sure to preorder ahead of time. I ordered around noon for a 7pm pickup, and I got a text a few minutes before pickup time that my food was ready! Pad KaPow: reading the reviews and the "very spicy" caption on the menu cautioned me to order the mild version. I thought it could've been more spicy to be honest, so maybe should've stuck to the original. But it was delicious, flavorful, and a unique dish! I liked the combination of the basil and minced pork, which packed a flavorful punch. Gaeng Daeng (Red Curry): what a generous portion! We were worried it would not come with rice, but there was a fat portion packed separately with it. The curry was a manageable spice with lots of squash. Wish they had more meat in it though! Mango sticky rice: Generous potion of mango on top of the deliciously sweet rice. This was my favorite dish, even as a savory person. I like how the rice was not too sweet, and they did not skimp on fruit.

Dee Dee Food Truck serves up delicious Thai food, but be prepared for a long wait--unless you pre-order online (which I highly recommend). Even my son, who is not a fan of Thai food gave it a thumbs up. We absolutely loved the Pad KaPow--a flavorful mix of spicy minced pork, Thai fried egg, fried basil, Pik Nam Pla, cucumber, and jasmine rice. You can choose your spice level, which is great. The first time we went, we waited over an hour since we had no idea how busy they'd be, but the food was totally worth it. One standout was the pickled salad side, which added the perfect balance to the dish. Highly recommend! Just plan ahead and order online to skip the wait. I plan on coming back again soon.

I placed an online order the morning of. I arrived at 6:30 pm and had to wait about 10 minutes. There are huge portion servings. Staff was friendly and plenty of outdoor seating. Good vibes and good eats.

Seesaws are metal and fun, but there is no fence to keep those kiddos corralled in which I know some people look for. Parking was limited, and there were kids playing games and football in the parking lot which made me a little nervous, and they were playing with footballs that I could see hitting a car. The food trucks that night were limited, but the Mediterranean food truck was good! Nice falafel, a solid chicken shawarma salad, and hand dipped onion rings and mozzarella sticks that the kiddos definitely enjoyed. It looks like they have a burger truck too, but it was not open that night. The game volume on high, nice patrons, solid layout for the space they have, nicely maintained, friendly staff that make you feel like you've come there for years, all adds up to another great experience on Manchaca Rd!

Back then, Austin needed a bakery so badly that easy tiger was a standout savior. Fresh bread (still great today!) and pastries were so welcome. At some point after Covid, quality started slipping. Pastries weren't changing. The croissants were soft with no crunch. The chicken schnitzel which is used to be thin had turn into a thick blob basically a giant chicken nugget. The pretzels I always loved tasted stale like they baked them and left them sitting under heat lamps for hours. Sandwiches tasted noticeably worse. Still, we continued to come here. And then they were sold in the last year. New owners and what's the first thing they do? Fix issues? No that would be hard. They raised prices. A LOT. Coffees cost more than anywhere else in the area. Lunch for 2 adults and 2 kids meal hits $90 with zero leftovers. Every time I come here I feel so squeezed and it's never worth it. So this is it. After 7 years I'm through. The place has so much potential but whatever is happening here I cannot support. There are far better bakeries (looking at you sugarwolf) and far better coffee places (literally dozens). Here is to hoping for a turnaround.

When we were poking around looking for breweries in the area on Yelp we came across The Shady Llama! This place doesn't make their own beer but they have lots of guest taps for breweries in the surrounding area. It's a good variety of beers to choose from and it looks like there is at least one food truck available sometimes in case you get hungry. The main draw for why we came here was to see the llamas and indeed we dis see some. One of them gave us some attitude and then sauntered off down a hill, taking it's less moody companion with it. They were funny and with the attitude I got and the name of the place I posted the Eminem song "My Name Is" where the lyrics "Slim Shady" get mentioned on Instagram because I thought it was all quite fitting. In addition to seeing the llamas we saw a great view of Hill Country. There was a lot of seating when we were here and could pick pretty much anywhere we wanted to sit. But I'm sure the place can get busy... the location and those llamas are reason enough. Cold beer, moody llamas and beautiful Hill Country... definitely worth the stop!

We chose half sweetness so it didn't feel drenched in maple syrup, which made it way more enjoyable for me. The cinnamon notes and subtle spice undertone came through nicely. Not exactly my go-to since I gravitate toward floral or fruit-forward drinks, but definitely fun to try at least once. Honey Lavender - LOVED this one. Everyone agreed it was very lavender, which only made me love it more. I chose whole milk and was surprised by how smooth and creamy it tasted. My only tiny complaint is that I didn't get much coffee flavor coming through, but if you're here for the lavender, this absolutely delivers. Coconut Macadamia Latte - this hit the spot. Perfectly coconut-y with just enough macadamia peeking through. I'll admit I have a sharp tongue for coconut flavors (hello, Thai curry), so this one immediately stood out to me. The sweetness level felt just right, and honestly, I'd pick this over Starbucks any day. Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin - one of the best things I ate in Austin. The texture deserves praise because it somehow managed to be firm without being dry, which I usually think goes hand in hand. Not here. It was moist, flavorful, and absolutely delicious while somehow also not being overly sweet. The cream cheese and pumpkin flavors came through beautifully without feeling sugary or heavy. If you stop by, this is a must-order. But honestly, the best part of this whole place? The service, the people, the atmosphere (especially the atmosphere!), and the flavors. The lavender flavor was very forward and there was a hint of sweetness on the back of the tongue, so very accurate. I didn't get as much coffee flavor here so maybe double espresso if that's important to you.
