Me was ASTOUNDED! Best dim sum I've had in 2025. The XLB were not xiao at all in fact they were quiet da. They were bursting with soup but most of all flavor! ! ! da fuq?? Unlike other XLB places which rely on dipping sauce concoctions to generate umami, Din Ding's XLB were so delicious on their own that I could just eat them straight. I would recommend giving the tableside chili oil a try though - it had a mysteriously addictive taste like nothing I'd had before :O Particularly good drizzled over springy shrimp and pork siu mai. Don't forget to order the potstickers, too, which arrive in delicate lacy skirts that conceal tasty juice explosions. String beans with pork were the perfect side. I genuinely could not stop cronching on them. The only dish I would knock would be the tomato egg noodles. While the noodles themselves were soooo chewy and long, I wasn't a big fan of the tomato egg sauce, which had a strong ketchup aroma. The XLBs here are tasty! The skin is well made that it contains the soup (a good amount) without any leaks and stretchy enough that it allows you to take it up without it tearing or leaking. The filling is also a good ratio between soup and dough, that it just tasted very good. WARNING: the soup is steaming hot so allow it to cool a little and then bite open the top to check how hot it is before putting it into your mouth! The service was good as we went during the weekday and it was almost full but not full. It's on the loud side but you could still have conversation with one another. They have booth seating, table seating, and a few larger tables for larger parties. They also have some outdoor seating available. Their dumpling display window is somewhat obscured and in the back. Two unisex restrooms only. The service is good and attentive. Some of the staff from the other restaurant transferred here. Food: Pork Xiao Long Bao (4/5) - a nice thin skinned dumping with soup inside. Northern Style Crispy Pork with Peach Sauce (4/5) - this was a new dish, so I wanted to try it. It's more upscale inside and busy. We ordered the Xiao Long Bao, Shrimp & Pork Wontons in Spicy Sauce, Green Beans, and Spicy Garlic Beef Noodles. Everything was overall tasty - the xiao long bao definitely stood out, it was so flavorful! Only thing is we were seated in the back of the restaurant and there were SO many tiny flies... like a bunch. 1 or 2 is understandable, but 10+ made it hard to continue eating since they kept flying into the food. The couple next to us were dealing with it too. Service was minimal, like most people were saying, they don't come by to check on you or fill up your water. The pickled cucumber and the wood ear (it taste better than it sounds) are a good starter palate cleanser along with their complimentary picked cabbage. If you're undecided on the XLB, get the traditional Pork XLB or the Shrimp and Loofah XLB. If you have four in your party add an order of Shao Mai. The Pan Fried Ground Beef Pie, you can skip. The Dried Fried String Beans with Pork wasn't dry but it was good. To summarize, I was not impressed. When you have so many amazing dumpling/noodle restaurants around, the competition is real. Unfortunately, when comparing with others in the Fremont/South bay area, I did not think Din Ding was more then mediocre. BEEF NOODLE SOUP: Their noodles taste fresh and the meat from this dish was fall-apart tender, which was a nice surprise. The flavor in the broth lacked flavor though. If you've ever tried Liang's Kitchen beef noodle soup, you will understand the difference. XIAO LONG BAO: Bigger than normal xlb's, these were mediocre. I didnt think there was anything special about it. SPECIAL HOT OIL NOODLE WITH PORK: I was expecting something like a spicy minced beef noodle stir fry, but this ended up tasting like a chow mein. So far we've liked the food each time we come here. They have a few larger tables for larger groups. It's a little hard to maneuver around there so it might not be accessible to everyone. Most of the time I came here for breakfast and most of them time the XLB is good as well as other dumplings and beef pan cake all that. Until i recently checked with dinner, like broccoli beef and stir fried green bean, i am quite disappointed on those dinner food. The beef tasty like pretty old multi days beef, really hard to chew. The flavors were pretty good in general but maybe not the most authentic. Brisket Noodle Soup- the brisket was really tender and good. The soup/broth itself lack depth in beef flavor. The noodles were so so in chewiness. Spicy Wonton- interesting that wood ear and thin slices of egg were added. I appreciated the use of peanut butter in the sauce, slightly a bit too sweet. Spicy Cumin Zhajiang Noodles- I am usually not a big fan of cumin because I am surprised how subtle the cumin taste was and the sauce was actually quite balanced. As far as the food, everything was good. The pork Xlb and pork/crab xlb were both filled with soup/filling. Only one dump broke apart when picking up. The salt and pepper pork chop was really good. Well fried and super crispy. The sautéed spinach was plentiful and a mountain. The shrimp toast was basically donut with shrimp inside with mayo/sriacha sauce that wasn't spicy. The pan fried beef bun was good with nice filling. The chicken zha zhiang mien was least favorite of them all. The service was really good. Everything came out in timely manner and was checked on. Wow, these are the best XLBs that I've had in a long time (same can be said for the Union City location). I'm usually weary of the pork with crab XLBs, but my dad was visiting and someone born and raised in Shanghai just can't resist a crab and pork XLB when they see it on the menu. And I'm so glad we tried it because it was excellent. The crab wasnt fishy at all (as is often the case at other places), the texture and seasoning was completely on point, and the skin was delicate and thin, yet not a single one broke as we dug in. Yum yum yum. Everything else we had was also very good. The house special fried rice was delicious. Had the right amount of fill-ins, including delicately pan fried egg, shrimp and peas. Also loved the fried pork with peach sauce. Came out so crispy and the pork inside was soft and tender. The sauce was a bit on the sweet side but it's a classic Shanghai flavor. The bang bang chicken wings were also perfectly crispy. A bit heavy on the sauce and wish the meat was just a tad more tender inside. The pea shoots were cooked perfectly and a very authentic flavoring. The pea shoots themselves were on the tougher side, due to no fault of the cook, just simply were a bit old. It's been a while since I've been to Din Ding Dumpling, but I'm glad I no longer have to drive to Union City to get my xiaolongbao fix. The service at the Fremont location is phenomenol. The xiaolongbao came out piping hot and tasty just as I remembered. The shrimp & pork wonton with spicy sauce was flavorful without being too spicy. The honey walnut prawns were well-battered with a crunchy exterior coated in a honey-mayo glaze that's perfectly sweetened. The only low point of the meal was the shrimp toast. I was hoping the spicy shrimp toast would be similar to a fried shrimp ball, but the dish itself was pretty pricey for a sparing amount of shrimp paste on youtiao. Overall, it was a good meal and the xiaolongbao are always the highlight. Pros: Fast, friendly service. Great value for xiaolongbao and other dumpling dishes. The XLB was new to me and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Soup in my dumpling, delightful! The beef & onions dumpling was also very good! We got pork & crab dumpling and people liked those as well. The veggies were great! We got black pepper broccoli and sautéed green beans, both very good! and then there were lots of veggies in other dishes like the Mongolian beef & combo chow mein. I did pull a large chunk of unchewable deep fried gristle n sinew out of my mouth and that took up a corner of my plate, but these things happen from time to time. The sauce in the Mongolian Beef & chow mein were heavy on the reduced side, powerfully flavorful. Some of the broccoli florets were laden with oil. But with the bad came very many tasty goods! Overall everyone had a great time and a great meal. We were stuffed. Thank you to my nephew and his girl for not only taking us out but introducing us to Din Ding Dumpling. Similar to Din Tai Fung but BIGGER portions. Our family of 5 came here for dinner and the wait was no joke. The staff will give you an estimated wait time but best believe that the number is inaccurate. Lol. How is it that we arrive and our wait time is 30-40 minutes and then maybe half an hour later, another party walks up and is given a 30 minute wait. Just come here ready with patience. The drinks are kind of scarce- canned soda, Thai tea, apple juice, or hot tea.
