We ordered the Belgian waffle with chicken and apple sausage, bacon egg cheese avocado sandwich, and a side of pancakes. The waffle was crispy and sandwich was very tasty. The pancakes were not very fluffy and for lack of better words, a bit rubbery. Overall, this place was average. One thing to note is there is a $1 service fee for paying by card. read more

I've passed this place 1000 times but never when I needed a diner or it was too busy. Today it was mostly empty and I wanted a club sandwhich, and a club sandwich they had on the menu. Ordered to go. They are VERY nice people. Every person there was super bubbly and nice to me. The sandwich came fast. The sandwich was pretty much what I wanted style wise, but wasn't especially good or bad. On my most recent visit to S.F., I stumbled upon this cute little cafe for breakfast. The menu is typical breakfast basics, the seating is dated, and it is cash only. But, the vibe in here is what really makes this place. They have a collection classic mugs, so you best order at least a cup of coffee or hot chocolate. We came in on Sunday around noon, and although there was maybe 10-15 people ahead of us, we waited for only 15 minutes. They turn over tables, get your order, and get you your food quickly! I like that you can get exactly what you want here. There's a combo meal for everyone, or you can create your own with sides. We had one combo with eggs, bacon, hash browns, and biscuit, and another with pancakes, egg, and sausage patties. The waitress brought out a plate of two small biscuits with butter and jam to start (from the first combo), which was appreciated! The rest of our food came out shortly thereafter. Everything is solid. We particularly loved the hash browns, a huge slab of shredded potatoes that had both a crunch and a soft center. This spot is so great! It's super cute and cozy and the staff is really friendly. My friend and I came for the first time hoping for an authentic SF diner experience and we were not disappointed. My egg sandwich came with the egg perfectly over medium, American cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayo. Amazing deal at $5 and change. Came here around 8:45am for breakfast and had to wait roughly 15 - 20 minutes for a spot, but it wasn't super busy as other brunch places! I think it's because it was still a bit early, and this place isn't your fancy brunch place. It has a slightly grungy, small diner feel but it's super cheap, fast and affordable. Most of their menu hovers around $10 and they have all the classic breakfast items you'd want. I wanted to try something different so I got the salmon patty, two eggs (easy over), hash brown and home made biscuits for $13. It was pretty filling too! For the biscuits, they're pretty generous with the butter and jams too (their butter was bomb)! The meal was also decently filling too and was more than I expected! No mayonnaise no mustard no lettuce no tomato no onion as it will come regularly with, only butter and jelly on toast upon arrival they tell me after buying the sandwiches at least 10 times this year they tell me it's too much work to put butter and jelly on two pieces of toast. So they just placed some butter and jelly in a bag and said I could do it myself. WTF if I wanted to dress a egg sandwich wish I have to take a part to put the butter and jelly jelly on. I topped the hash browns with ketchup and Tabasco and just Tabasco on the omelette to spice things up, but, again, nothing was memorable about this. It seems that most of the diners were regulars given the familiarity between customers and the hostess who seated us. Water glasses were filled, empty plates removed, and requested sauce bottles delivered promptly. Nothing to say bad about the experience which is why three stars fit my assessment of Eddie's. Perhaps I ordered the wrong menu item. Okay for a neighborhood place but not destination worthy in my book. read more

Am I supposed to give a breakfast dive restaurant this many stars? I mean it is just breakfast, right? As a native San Franciscan I am ashamed it took me this long to get here. We woke up late on a rainy Sunday morning with a hunkering for some pancakes and bacon. My friend suggested this dive over my normal brunchy places. When we got there the line was about 10 people long and the place accommodates maybe 30-40 people at most. Well as I would find out, they move fast and we waited barely 15 minutes. I think we were only there 35 min ourselves. We each got our hot coffee and quickly placed our order for bacon, sausage, hash browns, eggs and pancakes which came out fairly quickly. It is basically a 4 person operation with the owner and his wife doing most of the work. An interesting little fun thing they do is give you mismatched coffee mugs which indicate how they might think of you. I got a teenage mutant ninja turtles mug while she got a Disney princess mug. The meal was fantastic with perfectly fluffy pancakes and crispy hash browns and bacon as well as spicy sausage links. The service was super quick with my mug constantly filled by the cordial man who cleared tables. I even had a chuckle when he asked if the hipster next to me was unsatisfied because he barely ate. When the kid said he was hungover and drank too much, the guy let out a huge belly laugh and called him a lightweight! I will definitely come back. But if you make it by 8am on a weekday, you can easily snag that little two-person booth in front of the Divisadero window, a most preferable place indeed. I came for the cheap breakfast - two eggs with two turkey sausages and a generous hunk of hash browns for less than $7. Excellent deal and the sausage had a nice little kick to them. Korean-style, I think. The potatoes were grilled to just the right crispness, too. The biscuit was nice and fluffy...could have been a bit warmer. I got my piping hot coffee in one of their dime-store mugs, the kind you'd get at Wal-Mart when you moved into your first apartment...in 1964. Gee, I like this place when it's quiet...which, of course, is rare. Hey, I left a big tip because she treated me very well despite the navigational difficulties of getting to my window booth. Small hole in the wall, but ...! I was in the neighborhood and it was breakfast time, so I thought I check yelp and pick a place to eat. Eddie's sounded interesting, so Eddie's it was! When I walked in and saw how small it was, I almost turned around, but the ladies behind the counter caught me with their warm greetings before I had a chance. So I walked in, sat at the counter and ordered a basic omelette with a cup of coffee. I tell you what, the place grew on me. People walked in and they all knew the staff. Even a few out of town visitors got a special treatment after they confessed they were SF Giants fans! This is your classic diner. I mean that in the best way possible! You got the old-fashioned red leather chairs, slightly greasy atmosphere, and coffee out of scratched up mugs. It is definitely cleaner than what you have in mind for a typical diner. For around ten dollars, you can get a delicious combination of pancakes, two eggs, and meat of your choice. You get three slices of fluffy pancakes that come with butter, which is quite filling! I like the serving size and how the pancakes are soft, becoming deliciously moist with syrup on top. I'm not a fan of the coffee though. It tastes almost like coffee beans soaked in water. There is not much smoothness, just the raw flavor of the beans, which even the milk and sugar struggles to cover up. Please note that this place is cash only, which is a huge downside. That is very annoying because most people don't bring around as much cash anymore... I understand there are credit card fees, but this may irritate/alienate some customers. read more
