The service here is amazing. They're friendly and also so quick! It's super cozy here and feels like an old-school diner. Expect a wait if you come here on the weekends, but it's easy to get seated during the week! My friend gets the waffle here with bacon and an egg. This is her tried and true order. Born and raise here in the Western Addition (Fillmore). Eddie's was a treat to have as a kid & when I got older it was the go-to hangover spot on the weekends after the club. And, it's still just as jumping like back in the day. Even more so now well... almost / kind-of / sort-of post pan-demi C-19. The family that runs this hustling bustlin corner cafe be moving and grooving getting plates out to their many customers turning tables for that long line outside. The outside parklets help so much. It was sold to current owners who are Korean but they have maintained the traditions. The current clientele is very diverse and even though the community has changed to offerings and service as the same. They are primarily open for breakfast and early lunch so check hours before you dart down. It is very easy to locate. Head to The Mill down the street for your Four Barrel coffee and $6 avocado toast. Stroll on up to Sweet Maple for your $8 Millionaires Bacon and a mimosa. Drive over to Eats for your Chicken & Waffles or Acai smoothie bowl. Take the bus to Mo'z for a crepe and fresh squeezed OJ. If one of those is your ideal weekend breakfast, then you might never come to Eddie's - it's "just" a basic diner. The breakfast menu is eggs, omelettes, pancakes and waffled, bacon, sausage, brewed coffee, .... you get the idea. But there are two things that make Eddie's stand out from the other places: 1. the service is spectacular 2. they have a collection of mugs for your coffee and the owner will pick one out that she thinks matches you. We go in fairly regularly (once a month or so) and when we walf to our table, they are already pouring a cup of coffee for me and making a cup of tea for my wife. Within seconds of sitting down we are served out beverages (usually in SF Giants mugs since we are fans) and a few minutes later our order is taken. And since the owners are Giants fans, there are plenty of Giants mugs - as well as Giants decor around the cafe. If you have kids and they order hot chocolate, it will come in a princess, super hero, or maybe a sports mug if the child is wearing a team logo. The food is delivered quickly and is very consistent. They also offer grits as an option to hash browns, and the biscuits are light and fluffy. There is often a short line, just wait outside and be patient. Because the service is quick the wait will be reasonable. So if you are looking for a good solid breakfast from a place with local flair and character, I suggest giving Eddies a try. read more

Fun little family run, old style cafe in NOPA that I visited this past weekend. The ambiance was busy and a bit crowded but it was clear that this joint is a local favorite & a hangover go-to. However, no less than 24 hours later, I got the worst food poisoning in my life from this restuarant. BEWARE of the policies on the wall at each table!! We want to share our disappointment with our experience on Sunday at this cafe. We were so surprised at how we were treated. Totally understand they have rules which maybe regulars are used to. However, we were not. We frequent different lunch spots in the city almost every week and this was by far the worst treatment we have received. The food was tasty but nothing special but there was obvious conflict. When we told the server that we didn't order bacon on our egg and cheese sandwich (because of allergies) all he did was remove it and gave us back the same sandwich which was by then room temperature. The egg was also not tasty looking at all. He also argued with us when we requested cheddar cheese instead of swiss or american. That should not be a big deal. We understand the cafe was busy, but it would have been nice if they checked to see if we wanted more water and ask how we were doing? And then (even though there is a 45 minute sitting limit) to say "are you finished here"? so another party could have our table is a very rude way to treat customers!! As a result our horrible tip spoke volumes. We do want to acknowledge the kindness of the female server and the other male server. We think it was the owner who was unkind and made us feel unwelcome. read more

So their food is fine and they have a good collection of mugs but my problem is the way they go about coffee. Normally, you go to a diner and they give you cup after cup of coffee, no problem. You don't even think about it. This place gives you one cup and only at the end when they handed me the check did I have to ask for a refill. The guy fills my glass half way. I'm befuddled and looking at my group like what is this. He comes back saying "did you want more?" I say yes. He splashes a little more coffee (not filling the mug) and says "You MUST finish your coffee." Sir I am a grown a** man; why are you demanding that I finish this not even filled mug of coffee. A solid old school diner. I've been wanting just a normal triple decker club sandwich for a while and haven't seen one anywhere. I had to do an early morning smog check recently so I figured I'd check this spot out on a weekday when it would hopefully be quieter than it is on weekends (when it looks pretty busy from the outside). Come to Eddie's and expect a solid, affordable, and quick-service meal with none of the frills of other brunch places in the city. The restaurant isn't very expansive, but they're efficient with their use of space and serving their customers. I came here on a Sunday morning with a group of 7, and there were about 10 people ahead of us outside. We only waited about 15-20 minutes, and I was really surprised that they were able to accommodate all of us between two table right next to each other, as the biggest table is a four-top. The menu is pretty simple. They've got the breakfast staples including pancakes, french toast, hash browns, omelettes, and meats, and just about every combination you can get between them. Seeing all of the pictures before, I definitely wanted to get the pancakes and hash browns, and they didn't disappoint. The pancakes were beautifully fluffy and the hash browns done to a perfect crisp. My plate also came with their homemade biscuits, which I was very impressed at how light and fluffy they were. Everything is around or under $10, so it's a really affordable breakfast. The restaurant is fashioned as a classic, family-run diner. The staff are very efficient at getting your orders in and getting your food out, although they aren't rude about it at all. Everything we had was very delicious, and I don't think anyone had anything left on their plate when we were done.
