Loooove El Burrito Jr. in Seal Beach. Walking distance to work so a co-worker and I share the "Surfer's Special". 5 bucks for 2 bean and cheese burritos, chips, salsa and a drink. Have been in for sit down and have enjoyed other items. They are good as well but when on a budget the SS can't be beat. (to go only). Another co-worker told me about the new location in Long Beach and I was very excited that now there is an El Burrito within walking distance to my mom's. A good excuse to visit her more! The Surfer's Special is not listed on the menu but since El Burrito Grill is owned by members of the El Burrito Jr. family they will know exactly what you are talking about if you order it. Definately not the so called "healthy" mexican food that you can find in the big chains. Creamy refried beans made the way they're supposed to be! Yeah baby! Me and my boyfriend first came to this place because we were at the park across the street and nature placed a call. Too much info? I'll leave it at that. Anyway, while we stopped there, we noticed the place looked alright, and we were a bit on the hungry side, so Hey! Why not eat here? Well, the menu was huge, so it was a bit overwhelming, all those numbers! I'm sure they could group things together to make it easier on the eyes. The platters are fairly priced, not expensive at all actually and they come in pretty big plates which are extremely hot. The rice is alright, the beans are better, and the tamales are delicious (it's what I usually stick to). The service is really great. We came every few weeks, then had a break for a some months, and when we showed up again, the staff remembered us! They are always attentive and constantly stop by to ask if everything is alright. I love this place. The location is convenient; surrounded by shops and close to the local college. The employee are friendly and the decor in the restaurant is fun and lively. I've had the opportunity to sit and have a meal and it's clean and well lit. I've also ordered ahead of time to place a pick up order. The wait staff are helpful in person and over the phone. Let's get to the food...I looooove their carne asada quesadilla. It's super delish (a little greasy) and the portions are perfect. The fresh chips and salsa come with every meal and the salsa is just the right amount of spicy. My husband orders a burrito (sometimes meat, sometimes seafood) and they're always filling and tasty. The food is fresh, hot and quite flavorful. We have been there at least 10 times over the past 5 yrs, between the hours of 2pm and 6pm. I've been here many times, mostly for take out which has been great. Tonight I dined in. Waited 10 minutes to take the order and another 40 for the food to arrive. I was told a huge take out order came in and backed up the kitchen. The staff is always extremely friendly and the food is great. But tonight the service was terrible. read more

We come here when we're on this side of town for a great Mexican meal. The beef with red Chile is soooo good and tender. My son loves the red beef burrito and my hubby is hooked on their shredded beef taco dorado. I on the other hand like changing it up a bit so I'll vary my order but it's all pretty tasty. Service is great and friendly and even when they're crowded you still get your food pretty quickly and piping hot, like don't touch the plate hot. The booths could use some love, seats are torn and can be uncomfortable but other than that it's great! We tried the other location but prefer the food and service of this one read more

My boyfriend and I come here ALL the time. They seriously have the best bean & cheese burrito that I have ever had. Their chips and salsa are really good too. We've been here a few times close to closing and they've never rushed us or made us feel uncomfortable. Food is delicious. Generous portions. However, there are flies all over which was irritating and ants crawling on the wall around the Windows. Seats need upholstering. They are badly in need because they chew up your legs as you slide in and are uncomfortable. Sun shines in window above door making it difficult to sit in that side that faces the window. (So I moved to the other side of the table - but if we had 4 people at our table it would have been "sol" for those 2 facing the sun at 5:30pm). My recommendation is to fix the seat and to have some covering to shade that window. Food service was ok. Waitress took walk in orders before taking our order. And they came in 15 to 20 mins after we were seated and we were ready to order right away. read more

El Burrito Grill is a pretty good place to eat. They are the cheapest food place that's still got quality within walking distance from my house and school if I'm not looking for fast food. Everything else in the area is either overpriced or expensive, but worth it as long as I have the extra money to spend when I'm in a hurry. What really makes this a good place for me is how friendly the manager is. He knew me by name after my first time going in there and always makes sure to be friendly and personable with his customers, while still making sure to get everything that needs to be done so that no one is kept waiting. The only thing that really made me give it a 4 instead of a 5 is that when the manager isn't on the floor, the food quality seems to lesson, occasionally I've received meals to go without even the salsa being included or sour cream with food items that actually say "with sour cream" in the name, etc. This only happens while the manager isn't there, so I'm not sure what's up with that. The food is great as long as the manager is on the floor. Overall, I think I probably wouldn't go there as often if there were more food options available that didn't force me to spend $10 on a sandwich and fries, but I'd still definitely keep it on my list of decent food places. read more

I've been to the LB location on pch and also to the junior spot in Lomita. Both were GREAT. This location was really disappointing, I dont know if it could be the fact that its Lakewood? But the quality of my food was just disappointing. The chicken was disgusting no flavor and had a lot of black spots. This place sucks. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. The servers are very rude. They push your buttons almost as if they want to fight. Very unprofessional and way to aggressive. There are children here and the attitudes must stop. Barely any seating inside. They do not open the upstairs portion. Not to mention they were closed not to long ago for rat infestation. And dont bother talking to management because the owner is on the same level. These people act like they work in a hostile environment. You are in lakewood, remember. Good stuff. Nice portion size, decent service, and pretty good food. We're new to Long Beach and have been looking to try everything we can. This place isn't far from our house so we finally decided to drop by. The steak and vegetables in the fajitas were amazingly fresh, the wife had chicken enchiladas and offered the same compliment. The food lacked just a little in the seasoning department we felt though, which was odd because I've never really had bland fresh food. We'll go back and give it another shot, maybe it was a fluke. I am very surprised of the treatment that I received from the manager Jose this last Sunday. For the first time, I decided to try selling at the Long Beach flea market and for lunch, a partner of mine and myself took a long walk to this restaurant. The food was great, and the two servers were very curtious. The manager however treated me badly. If I were the owner and I found out about this issue, I would "can" this guy. My cell phone was dead and one of the servers advised I could plug into outlet where I was sitting. I unplugged a light and plugged my phone in. I turned my phone off so It wouldn't take too long. The manager came yelling at me. From that point on, without provocation, he kept treating me bad. I was going to order food for my crew, but after that, I decided otherwise. read more

I watched with a cautious eye when this place was being built. On one hand, Dippin' Dots had failed on that corner, but on the other hand, it would be convenient Mexican food with a totally excellent accessibly parking lot. The only other place that I feel that way is GenkiYaki. One can see the kitchen and activity and it's hard not to want to go cook with the guys. The first thing I saw on their menu board was a @ $4.50 big burrito -- but it's "To Go" only. I briefly had thoughts of sitting in my car but just couldn't because it wouldn't be a good Yelp review and I'm all sorts of good, ya know? We received our menus and chips and salsa and drinks in a cool, calm, and quick manner. They had one other table when we got there and then everyone showed up including to go orders so they do some good business here. Why should you care? Food turns over regularly so yours should be pretty fresh. I ordered the soft chicken taco plate ($6.50) with rice and beans -- wow, was I a happy girl. I had just had that same type of plate a few days before (Manny's) and it didn't compare to EBG. I have this thing about cheap cheese killing an otherwise good plate of food -- and my beans and rice had a sprinkle of a nice quality cheese -- yes, that was my happiness. Same with the taco, it was all about the chicken. It came on 2 corn tortillas and I was able to use each as a taco. When my seester ordered a quesadilla ($4.50), I was worried because I didn't remember any reviews suggesting it and sometimes (when done with industrial cheese) they are pretty greasy and bad. She had a huge quesadilla and even let me steal a bite -- grilled and melty and they used a good amount of cheese. (My experience at Chronic taco has made me wary of quesadillas unless I know they have a grill and use it.) So in both cases, the food was good! Yup, I might eat Mexican food more often because this place is right off of Carson and Bellflower, parking is excellent, and the prices are competitive. I just have to remember they have a happy hour taco special -- wait, I don't even have to do that because it shows up on Yelp. read more

I used to go there and it was good, until recently. First of all, the waitresses are very unfriendly! I ordered a shrimp burrito. My shrimp was under cooked! It was not cleaned and had grit or sand in it! I tried to tell the waitress, but she never came back. I couldn't track her down. I didn't eat any more shrimp. When I went to pay, I told the waiter at the counter that the shrimp had sand in it. He started laughing and made a stupid joke about taking fish and sand home! They were all laughing!
