a hand holding a pastry with butter

I really wanted to like this place with all the good reviews about their cakes! I ordered an 8in tres leche for a family christmas party. I wish they took orders over the phone bc I had to drive there just to place an order (They dont accept payment over the phone). It was $29 for an 8in cake which I think is such a good price!! One of the ladies walked me through flavor, design, occasion, pick up date etc. It was a little hard to understand her when she asked about some options for the order but she was super nice and helpful. I paid in full and picked up the cake a week later! A week later I came by to pick up the cake and also picked up a palmier and this other pastry filled with cream! Palmier was really good but the other pastry was a little burnt and the cream wasnt a smooth texture. The biggest bummer was the cake! I was sooo happy with the pretty christmas design. All of my family was so excited to try the tres leche cake! Unfortunately when we cut into it, it wasnt a tres leche cake at all. It seemed to be maybe a vanilla sponge with some strawberry cream filling. If the cake was good, I probably wouldnt have minded the mistake as much... However the cake was too dry and the strawberry filling was a little too jelly-like which I didnt enjoy much. It wasnt a horrible cake... But given it was the wrong cake and just ok, it was pretty disappointing...

    $5 tres leche cake

We were on the search for tres leche and this spot is open an hour later than other area bakeries. They don't have it by the slice, but their smallest cake isn't expensive at 5 bucks so we got that. Service was great, just wish there was a table on their floor space to have ate inside instead of our car. The bottom layer was perfectly soaked and overall I enjoyed it.

    Tres Leches cake. So delicious!

The tres leches cake is so good! The circular one is only $15 and big enough to feed 12-16. The employees there are also super friendly. They can write a message on the cake for you and when they heard us talking about star wars, offered to give us some star wars toy rings as toppers on the cake. I brought this to a party and so many people asked me where I got the cake.

    Moca tres leches

My first Moca tres leches! I came looking for a tres leches cake for my husband's birthday but all the tres leches had a very feminine decor. When I said it was for a guy, they showed me some with blue roses... I decided to go for something else. Service was excellent, he was very friendly and even opened one of the individual slices they sell so I could taste it for free and even offered me to take it home. Although it was not as moist and sweet as the traditional tres leches, it was good and had a strong coffee flavor which is the other thing my husband loves so it worked out. The parking lot can feel a bit ghetto but it's a small store so you just go in an out quickly...

Best place! I've been coming to this Bakery since I was a kid and I still drive the 40 minutes it takes to get here from where I live now. I use to live a block away! For so many years I thought this was part of El Toro and after 34 years, I just found out it isn't, lol! What an embarrassment on my part. Regardless, this has always been my go to place for birthday cakes, pan dulce and gelatinas! They are very popular and have a huge following. They bake all day long and they sell out all day long.

Of all the items were soo so yummy, and here is my ranking of each pastry I got: 7. raspberry almond cake: 7/10 lightly sweet and tart, thicker crumbly texture (which i'm not a fan of and should've known given it was an almond cake) 6. oaxacan cheese and tomato croissant: 8.5/10 had this one a day late which def could've affect taste/texture but the tomato sauce was strong in flavor and the cheese with it made such a delicious flavor pairing 5. rosemary focaccia: 9/10 aromatic and had great airy fluffy crispy texture 4. pain âu chocolat: 9.5/10 had this a day later, texture was not as flaky but crossiant still butter qnd the rolls?folds? still defined when taking bites into the crossiant. The chocolate was so rich and the perfect sweetness 3. monkey bread crossiant: 10/10 a pleasant surprise! sticky, sweet, crispy, with such a yummy texture 2. ube croffin: 10/10 the ube cream inside the croffin and the toasted vanilla cream on top were made so well, perfectly sweet and fluffy, both ube and vanilla flavors strong and prominent, the texture of the bread was airy and had a great chew 1. Croque Moniseur Crossiant sandwhich. 11/10 best bite! Loaded with flavor! There was a generous amount of meat and sauce. The jalapeños added a good level of spice and pickle. A filling and very worth it item!!! The staff were all friendly and the wait on a Saturday morning at 9:30AM was not too bad just 20 mins. Beware it is street parking! This is definitely my new favorite pastry spot. I need to go back to try different pastries very very soon!

Usually parking here isn't too bad if you're staying for less than an hour and easy to walk over to the dessert shop. Baked Banhs is located in the 4th street food market, one of the first shops you'll see if you're coming from the parking lot. Note the hours before you come (for instance, they're closed on Sundays and Mondays). And note that they seem to usually sell out of certain items by the days end. We've tried a number of different items here now including four of their canelés and their basque cheesecake. The cheesecake was solid. But we really loved their canelés. They are soft/moist on the inside with a nice crunch. And the different flavors really come through. Our favorite is the black sesame - not only is there black sesame peppered on the top but also in the center with a nice black sesame cream. It's so good and delicious. Four canelés cost $16 and thought they were well worth the price. Again, it's so sad to hear that Baked Banhs is closing soon so if you're a fan of canelés or other desserts, recommended to come sooner than later to try this out! We really hope they reopen again elsewhere or do a lot of pop-ups soon.

The main problem is they definitely seem to have way less stock on hand, and things can sell out fast. I had to come back another day for my favorite item of theirs, the rusk - extremely light and crunchy bites of buttery sugared mini toast. I buy a bunch of these to take home as souvenirs, as the strawberry croissants obviously need to be eaten ASAP. Their employees were pretty friendly and helpful. I love that they carry bulk platters of their strawberry croissant and have them displayed right as you enter.
