I actually dream about the Fat Dragon noodles! So yummy, and just the right amount of spicy kick! I also frequently order the orange chicken, and love that they use Mary's free range chicken - the difference in taste and quality is more than worth any extra cost. The steak with broccolini is bathed in a flavorful sauce that is literally addictive. And I love the surprising, offbeat fortunes inside their homemade fortune cookies - utterly charming, sometimes funny, and sometimes thought-provoking or even educational. Service is fast and friendly - I could pretty much eat here every day. My new favorite Chinese restaurant...and it's across the street from where I work! Got a take out order tonight. The 3 dishes I ordered were great: full of flavor without being over salted. Bone broth has authentic flavor very similar to my childhood!!!!! Fantastic Mapo tofu had just the right amount of spice, and I ordered mild. It looked a bit runnier than what I'm used to, but I don't mind it since it probably means they didn't use as much starch. Veggie fried rice was fresh and stir fried really well. No soggy, clumpy rice, nor were the veggies undercooked. Great wok skills here. All in all I am glad I stumbled upon this place since I am normally very picky with my Chinese food. I will definitely be back for more. read more

The gentlemen who picked up the phone and the head chef were both incredibly patient and generous with their time and offered to personally ensure certain ingredients were not used in our orders. This is BS that this place has 3.5 stars. This is hands down the best Chinese takeout restaurant I've ever had. My wife and I get this place religiously every Friday night and it is consistently good high quality food. The chicken is fresh white meat (no mystery meat), their fried rice is unique but extremely tasty and they deliver super fast. We love the Mary's orange chicken and vegetable fried rice. We decided to try Fat Dragon on a recent Friday night. So, we ordered takeout as the parking lot is really small and parking is scarce around there. We ordered the Calamari, Steak & Brocollini and the Dragon fried rice. The calamari was pretty good but as with most fried foods it didn't travel well. So, I'll reserve judgement for now. (Decent but I'd like to try them piping hot out of the fryer along with the sliced jalapeños etc.)The Steak & Brocollini (essentially beef & broccoli) was tasty and well seasoned. However, it wasn't the upgraded "certified Angus steak" flavor we were expecting for $16.00. (Ouch!) Good but just that, good but not great. The Brocollini was a bit unwieldy to eat as all the pieces were long. I think I'd have liked it cut into shorter pieces but I imagine maybe they keep it whole to prove to you that you're actually getting Brocollini. No big deal as I enjoyed the savory taste and the florets absorbed all the saucy garlic flavor. The Dragon Fried Rice was a bit of a disappointment. It was described as having Chinese pork belly, Chinese bacon (?) and kohlrabi. There were teeny tiny bits of Chinese sausage and a few little bits of pork that I can only assume were the "bacon". For $12 I expected something a bit more substantial and hearty. Kohlrabi? Couldn't find it. Perhaps the tiny carrot like cubes were it... I seriously have no idea. We might be back but we wondered if if was actually better than our cheaper local Chinese takeaway. Got extra money to throw away? Go for it. Otherwise, perhaps look elsewhere. I wanted to love it. I have had a hard time finding any Chinese food in LA that I am tempted to try. Someone recommended Fat Dragon and it's super close to my house, so the boyfriend and I gave it a try the other night. Very fast service, medium pricing. The Orange Chicken was really good (good sauce & good meat--no weird chewy bits or anything like that) and the Dragon Noodles (veggie lo mein) were also really good. The 'Braised Tofu,' however, was disgusting. Literally unpalatable. I took two bites and couldn't eat any more. It was slimy and completely lacking in flavor. The sauce somehow tasted like lint. It was really bad. Maybe just a one-off for them but a bad enough experience that it felt worth warning others about. read more

Absolutely love this place! Came here with a group of friends who found it listed as one of the top new places in LA to check out. Loved meeting both the owner and manager who personally made sure or food was on point! Favorite dish of the night was the sweet shrimp and walnuts and the tofu soup. The fried rice and pork belly was also to die for. What's also unique about this restaurant is it is also a tea house! They offer a wide variety of both hot, cold, and milk teas.
