This cafe is right opposite the Yaletown roundhouse train station so very transit friendly. They don't have a lot of seats inside so it's more of a takeout spot but luckily when we went there, they had empty seats! We tried there lavender and vanialla/seaseme macroons - I liked the vanilla one more because the taste of lavender was very faint. Also tried their mocha and matcha iced tea, both were 4/5. The matcha taste was barely there. I also got their lavender soda which was AMAZING! I even asked the barista what syrup they used and I'm planning on getting it. Would highly recommend that one especially for the summer. Their pesto cheese sandwich was 5/5 and so was their prosuccito and brie crepe. It came with a side of fruits which were sooo fresh! I'll be back for sure (especially for the lavender soda drink).

Got the Brie and prosciutto sandwich - pretty decent sandwich for a quick lunch. Bread was crispy and fresh. I would've preferred the cheese a bit more melted but it was still tasty. Space is great for small groups with some high seating and small tables

Store is clean and tidy. We were greeted promptly upon arrival of the counter. It's a beautiful Friday morning with gentle breeze. Perfect weather for outdoor sitting. Coffee and fig walnut bread tastes good.

Staff were approachable and helpful. They patiently answered when I had some questions about their coffee and pastries. The noise level is a bit on the loud side, if thats something you mind. I appareciate that there's ample indoor and outdoor seating options. I enjoyed my pain au chocolat and nutella crepe, with caramel macchiato. I also ordered a ham and cheese croissant. The staff offered to warm it up, and I learned that next time, I should really eat it as soon as it is out the oven (or microwave), as it got hard a few minutes after me taking photos if it for the gram

I like this coffee shop. It is cozy and emulates French vibes. I had brunch in the summer with a friend once and have frequently visited the davie location. Today, I really needed a pick-me-up, so I ordered their tiramisu mocha. It was delightful. There was a line-up, but I definitely got my coffee shortly after my order, and I didn't have to wait long. This place is great for both dining out and getting takeaway. There are a lot of great dessert options and a nice brunch menu. Weekends are busy so the earlier, the better!

Oh. My. Gosh. SO GOOD! I've never really been to a real patisserie such as Faubourg, and my first experience surely set the bar high. We ended up coming around lunch time, so we got sandwiches as well as a tiramisu. The sandwiches did take a while to come out, however understandable since they probably had a lunch rush. Thankfully, my brie and prosciutto on multigrain bread was so worth the wait. Afterwards (and admittedly, a little before) our sandwiches, we had the best tiramisu I've ever tasted! We came during the Eras Tour weekend, so the bakery was decked out in pretty flowers. The inside was crowded, but weather was nice so we sat outside. I'm glad we did, because I feel like our experience was all the more better because of it! If I go to Vancouver again, I'd love to try more pastries because they looked so good. I highly recommend Faubourg!

A perfectly delightful spot for a morning coffee and pastry. The place is clean, beautiful and elegant... and the offerings superb. They have both breakfast pastries and cakes and such for a sweet tooth treat later. The brownies to go looked amazing. Lots of good indoor and outdoor seating, you order at the counter and then pick up your choices. We had an almond croissant and a pain au chocolat, both excellent made in an authentic French style. We also ordered medium-sized lattes. Service was efficient and courteous. I enjoyed an easy and simple breakfast and overall very satisfying.

The selection here is really extensive for a coffee shop: sandwiches and crepes all made to order, soups, various sweet and savoury baked goods, plus coffee and tea and more drinks. Nondairy milks are available but it looks like none of the food is vegan. There are plenty of vegetarian choices though. Very hard to make a choice since everything looked delightful. I had a tomato and bocconcini sandwich, a hazelnut mousse dacquoise w/ pear compote (the pastry of the month), and a lavender Italian soda. Was going to order a crepe but the barista told me it would be 15-20 minutes when I was hoping for a quicker lunch, but maybe next time. I really liked my sandwich, anyway. I had it on the multiseed bread which was hearty and fresh. I loved biting into the balls of fresh bocconini too. Sometimes sandwiches with pesto come out too oily for me, but that was not the case here. The pastry was also fantastic! I loved the contrasting textures and richness of the hazelnut cream, and the tart, juicy chunks of pear inside were a nice little surprise when I had been expecting something more jelly-like. The soda was good too. It was hard to mix the lavender syrup in, but once it got mixed it was very floral, and they didn't use too much syrup to make the drink too sweet. They have the clean, elegant Parisian aesthetic down inside, but I most enjoy sitting on the patio which is covered and elevated away from the sidewalk level, so you can relax away from the weather and crowds. Very welcoming and thorough service from the staff member in training who took my order. Drinks are called out from the bar, but food is brought to your table when you eat in. FYI they have mugs for coffee and plates and silverware, but my cold drink came in a plastic cup. Not sure if it was just a mistake or if they just don't make the cold drinks in glasses, but I will watch out for that next time.

Nice lunch spot! I had a lavender latte and a mozzarella/tomato/pesto sandwich on a baguette. It all tasted very fresh. For those two things, I spent about $25, so it's one of the more expensive spots downtown. If you're looking for a spot to settle down after visiting the art gallery, or some good coffee as a pick-me-up, I recommend checking this place out. I asked about their accommodations for my peanut allergy, and the staff were kind and helpful. They were able to point out which things would be suitable for me to eat, and took care and concern that I had a serious allergy. I would recommend asking the staff for more information about the menu if you have any allergies!

4.5 - A cozy little French Cafe with a great selection of fresh and creatively made pastries and sandwiches. We come here quite a bit. Our usuals are the double chocolate pistachio croissant and the vegetarian spinach and feta croissant and we love them both. Their Americanos could be slightly better, but that's because I tend to like my coffee quite strong, so usually I get my Americano with an extra shot of espresso, I find the single to be a little watery for me. The atmosphere and environment is really lovely and tastefully decorated and all the windows gives you a cozy place to sit, observe and just Be. I find the staff varies, as sometimes when we walk in there's a warm and attentive friendly greeting and sometimes there isn't. There's also a great space outside to sit if you enjoy a nice chilly morning with your coffee cup and pastry watching the locals walk by :)

Viennoiserie downtown! So where can I get a breakfast to go (or eat in - or out, too)? It was an easy walk from our hotel to the Faubourg in the light cold winter rain. Here I was greeted by a wide range of croissants, etc. The double baked hazelnut chocolate croissant was sublime. The extra crisp and chocolatey hazelnut flavor - wow. It was a bit messy on the hands, so watch out to not smear on your threads. The pain au chocolat was classic and the almond croissant rounded out our selection. Coffee was good and service on point. Takeout was great for me, but not sure if I'd be inclined to come back to sit a spell. Perhaps it's downtown but I didn't get a warm and fuzzy feeling there. Seemingly many families and tourists on this sleepy weekend morning. They had bread and macarons but I didn't try. Maybe next time.

I came here after visiting the art gallery across the street. It was still early so I decided to try a bunch of stuff. I do love a good french pastry with coffee in the morning. I had the ham and cheese croissant, canele, a chocolate cake and some macarons with coffee. I felt they could be better. While the food was a notch higher than the usual cafes here, they paled in comparison to the other patisseries specializing in French pastries (eg Thierry and Thomas Haas). The canele was disappointing. The croissant was ok. The chocolate cake was not too bad as were the macarons. Still, they did not impress me much to make me want to go back again for the food or to even think about them. If you are a snob about French pastries, I will suggest to skip this place.

I decided to try this cafe again. Food is still mediocre which too bad because the ambiance is nice. The egg in the spinach and egg croissant tasted like airplane food. McDonald's egg McMuffin feels much fresher than this. The ham and cheese croissant also tasted stale. The little dessert called cannole or something was burnt at the bottom. Not sure why pastries just don't taste fresh here.

I found this place with reviews for dessert places in Vancouver via Yelp. I had been to Vancouver a lot but had issues getting to this location during the hours of operation. But I finally made it late in the afternoon on a Wednesday. The place was busy, but there is lots of seating indoors and outdoors at this location. I was pleased to find seating to enjoy my nice little cake. I choose the Pasty of the Moon a little red dome shaped cake for $6.75. A little bit pricey but comparable to other places that offer similar cakes. The cake was very enjoyable, it was a light cake very soft to cut with a fork and it melts in your mouth. Not too sweet, it was done right. I would probably go back to try some of their other varieties if I'm in the area. Service was quick and a 'trainee' as it was displayed on her name tag was serving me. She was very kind and quick to serve me. The atmosphere of the dining area was OK, but could use a bit more identity, just didn't feel as comforting as some other patisseries I've been too. read more

This is probably my favourite spot for a quick breakfast during the week. Best breakfast croissants in the city! The staff is great in multitasking and always professional and pleasant even during the busy hours. The atmosphere is amazing! Try the veggie breakfast croissant and the peach croissant. They often give samples of their baked goods. The coffee is really good too. read more

Charming Cafe, with a great selection! Though I will admit I was off-put by the lack of service. Thankfully another server stepped in to redeem it! Came to the cafe with staff chatting in the back, with one person ahead of me in line. Server takes their order, and as soon as it was my turn; she leaves the counter to go back and chat it up with her coworker. I gave a confused look wondering what that was all about, and she returns after noticing I wasn't all too happy with that. She takes my order, then proceeds to take the other order of the one behind me.. only to serve them first with their order...? Call me crazy, but I just wanted macarons. I don't see what the fuss is with just fulfilling by the order of customers. Thankfully another server came to the rescue, and helped me pick some out. Really happy with the atmosphere, and the overall quality of goods offered here, but taken back by the odd service that happened today. read more

I'm a huge fan of Faubourg, I go to the one in North Van a lot. They make THE BEST almond milk lattes I've ever had and I could eat their macarons for days. I walked into this Hornby location and was greeted pleasantly by the staff right away (they have some great looking employees with smiles to die for haha). I love the atmosphere, but the only complaint I have is that they told me this location didn't have almond milk! I walked out only with my ham and cheese croissant which tasted like heaven, now if only I had my almond milk latte too. Get some almond milk soon please! :) read more

This is one of my favourite coffee shops! I recently met up with someone from Bumble Bizz here to get come career advice. The location is very convenient - right next to the art gallery. The atmosphere is professional and sophisticated. I had a croissant and I really felt like I was in Paris! The person I was meeting was extremely impressed with their latte. Macarons were good, but I'm not really a fan. I find that stuff to be too sweet. Needs a bitter coffee to round them out. Service was okay. Now that lemon tart -- it looks great, but when it comes to eating, it's like trying to eat food cooked up by kindergarten kids. It's too candy like. It needed a more liquid middle layer to off set that. Had some puff pastry -- they were cold and didn't impress. I'd come here with a date but otherwise I think it's a bit overrated. read more

Thank you Faubourg for proving that anyone can be a French baker. Sure most of those people wouldn't be very good including the sub-par roster of bakers that con themselves into believing they know anything about viennoiserie. Your almond croissants remind me of the texture inside a Tim Hortons French Cruller. Soft and spongy with the only texture coming from the scant layer of toasted almonds on top. Tres bien? Non, tres bad. read more

If I had written this review a few months ago, the rating would have been much better. In my experience, however, the quality of the coffee has deteriorated significantly and I fear the baristas are generally not up to standard. Both the lattes and espressos I have had of late are consistently quite bad. This is a shame, because the pastries are quite good and better than Artigiano next door, but the poor quality of coffee prevents me from recommending Faubourg or even returning any time soon. read more

Nothing special. Macarons are just solid pucks of crunchy sugar with no discernible flavour and the croissants are akin to what you'd find at a supermarket. You just have to pay a little extra for the ambiance of French pretentiousness that comes along with the cafe. read more

Finally a place to get great croissants downtown. Bel Cafe without the pretentiousness, more space inside and you can usually find a seat on the patio. This is my new coffee stop. Artigiano always seems backed up and incredibly noisy. Even better than Thierry and not as far as Thomas Haas to get a croissant. read more

Best croissant in town! Almond croissant is perfect sweetness (not too sweet as I don't like too sweet), crispy on the outside , great consistency and texture. Pistachio croissant is also my favorite. There's also chocolate and plain. All great. As an aside, the almond croissant at Thierry on Alberni is awfully sweet, dense and heavy. read more

We stopped in for a quick breakfast. My husband's croissant and espresso were fine. I ordered the breakfast sandwich on a croissant. What I got was luke warm, smushed, with cold ham. We ate half and threw the rest away. We would have asked for another, but we had already gone back to them to get a different coffee as the original drip coffee I ordered tasted like gasoline. They were very kind in swapping it out for a latte, which was a little better. Overall, we were really looking forward to this place and left disappointed, especially considering the prices. read more

I've been buying a croissant and coffee here for a number of months (once per week or so), and although I keep coming back for the croissants, which are amazing, I've always been leaving a bit fed up with the service. This place just seems to have the most unfriendly people working here - with a small exception. They don't look happy to work there at all and have never been very helpful. Today, after collecting on their "points system" for what seems like an eternity I asked how many points I have as I should have received a few free coffees by now. I was told I had 2 points! So they have simply never bothered to add the points? Have now finally decided to give up Faubourg and go somewhere where I'm treated better as a customer. read more

The cakes and pastries are decent but the customer service is lacking. I ordered a cake online for a work birthday. I was told it was their policy to prepay for any orders so I had them charge my credit card in advance. My colleague went to pick up the cake a few days later and was charged a second time since there was no record of my payment despite their prepay policy. Three hours after picking up the cake and discovering this error, I sent an email to the bakery letting them know we had been charged twice. They did not respond until the next day with an apology , and an invitation to come and pick up a cash refund in the store. Despite both charges being on credit cards they claimed they were not able to do a refund to a credit card if it wasn't the same day. I found it incredibly inconvenient that we were asked to drive 30 minutes to their location, pay for parking and collect a refund that had been due to their error. I work with retail stores on a daily basis and this policy is highly irregular. Many stores would go out of their way to rectify the situation and not put the customer out further. It is just bad business and leaves a bad taste in your mouth for a high priced bakery. read more

Franck strives to bring the pursuit of perfection to all his endeavours, from recipe ideation to staff management. His commitment to hard work and constant improvement led to the creation of Faubourg's commissary kitchen in Rivershore as well as the Hornby Street and Park Royal locations, all within four years of the Kerrisdale flagship location's 2010 launch.

Meet the Business Owner: Franck Point P.

Born in Lyon, France, Franck was raised to honour food for both its sensory pleasures and its ability to bring people together. The Master Artisan behind Faubourg elegant Parisian Bakery & Café, Franck understands that exceptional bread and pastry are the linchpins of a truly great meal. Upon graduating from the prestigious Cornell University in 1993 with an MBA in Hospitality Management, opportunities abroad took Franck and his family to Bangkok, Thailand, where they remained for five years before returning to Europe. A born traveller, Franck often visited Vancouver and recognized a notable dearth of authentic, gourmet French bakeries in the city's culinary landscape. After relocating the family to Canada in 2006, Franck cultivated his life long love of Parisian Bakery and Café by entering a baker's apprenticeship program in his native France. His tenacity and effort paid off in 2010 when he opened Faubourg Paris' doors, bringing a taste of Paris to Vancouver.

Of course, everyone is free to make their own decision, and others may have a different experience than I did. I simply wanted to share my honest feedback so that other customers know what to expect. I don't write this review to criticize the business unfairly, but as a customer, I believe it's important to share both positive and negative experiences. I hope the Vancouver location can improve its consistency so that it matches the quality of the Richmond store.

Gary's only allows to order the fresh mango cakes up to one week ahead to ensure they have enough ripe mangos, which I admire their dedication. We ordered the 6 inch cake for 9 people (7 adults and 2 kids) and everyone got a thin to average slice. The cake is definitely prettier than the other fresh mango cakes on the market, has a lot more mangos that are perfectly ripe and sweet, there is less wipped cream, and the sponge cake is softer. The family agreed that Gary's has the best fresh mango cake but at $69 for a 6 inch cake, versus $43 for a 6 inch mango cake from Saint Germaine, a cake from Gary's is definitely a treat and for special occasions. Is Gary's worth the premium price? I think so but not everyone in my family agreed. One thing to note: Gary's do offer cake in a jar that's $8.50 each. When we went, they had a BOGO deal with the mango cake jars. My nephew asked my sister to buy the BOGO deal knowing that the 6 inch cake was not going to be enough, as the kids like having a second slice of cake.

I really liked how they separated the coffees by flavor profile so you could key in on the type of beans and roast you prefer. They offered several natural, honey, and anerobic options, which made me happy. My friend isn't a coffee geek like I am, so it was fun to see which he gravitated to and enjoy that alongside my choice, which was totally opposite. The barista side of the shop is long and narrow, with the bar predominating, but there's a great sitting area right next door that I didn't even notice until we were leaving. I always order the 3 pieces (1 wing, 1 drum & 1 thigh with fries or rice) for $9.39. You can ask for a mix of spicy or original but think the spicy is better and not too hot. I usually can't finish and take the rest home. Open 24 hours and considered the best deal in town for the portion of food you get. The decor is not fancy more like a hole-in-the-wall but that is what I love about it! They are here to impress you with the food and not the decor. The colourful orange and green bench seatings were originally from their shop on Main and 33rd so I love seeing them as it's reminded me of their good old days when you see motorcycles mixed with Mercedes cars in their parking lot.

The server apologized for the mistake, and I let it go, thinking we didn't have to drink it all. However, when the bill arrived, the price didn't match the quote. We were charged $25, not the $20 we were originally told when the 64-oz pitcher showed up, with the explanation that the regular price was $35 and that we had "saved" money. In the end, we were served twice the beer we wanted and paid twice what we intended, based on information that kept changing. Whether this was incompetence or intentional, it left me feeling frustrated and uncomfortable. The food and atmosphere really were great -- but the experience was overshadowed by feeling manipulated. Enjoy the food and beer, but pay close attention to what the wait staff tells you and what ends up on the bill.

Unfortunately, the lobster roll was a letdown. It wasn't very warm, the lobster itself didn't have much flavor, tasted off and the whole sandwich was just kind of dry. Thank goodness I also ordered the prawn cocktail because it saved the meal. It wasn't anything fancy, but the prawns were a good size and gave me something I actually halfway enjoyed. Overall, I didn't have the experience I was looking forward to.

Very expensive sugar. I know that Vanouverites like their deserts a bit sweet (the weather I guess). But I'm not sure that they like them this sweet, I mean pure sugar incarnated as Macroons (yes, capital M since they sell foe $2 each). They are so small and dry, I've never tasted anything as bad. I was tempted by the lavender and raspberry ones, they have nice colors but boy????! You must be so stoned and low on sugar to be able to finish one. The whole idea of Macroons is the multiple tastes you get in your mouth after one bite. But here I guess that they understood it as how much sugar you get in your mouth.
