cacao one and it was really bitter haha. I ended up getting the Pistachio one bc it was a safe bet haha. I did enjoy how creamy and soft the ice cream was, but I wish the pistachio flavor could have been more pronounced. I feel like the taste was very lackluster, very subtle. I did enjoy the bits of pistachio in it, but it didn't really taste like much to me tbh. I enjoyed the consistency of it tho! Bf's sister got the jujuberry since she is lacstose, and she said it was refreshing. She said it tasted like blueberries since we weren't quite sure what jujuberry was haha. Service was nice, friendly. Patient with their customers when sampling ice cream.

Tried some flavors and ended up getting 1) lotus biscoff - kinda too sweet but you'll like if you enjoy biscoff cookies 2) antep pistachio - this is a must get! So good All are hand crafted and creamy. We got the $9.95 for 2 scoops.

First time visiting FILO Desert in Downtown Orange, and we're so glad we stopped by! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The shop has such a cool vibe -- it almost felt like a charming two-story ice cream spot with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The owner was incredibly kind and welcoming. We were told she runs the whole shop by herself, and you can truly see how hardworking and passionate she is about what she does. She happily let us try several flavors, and every single one was excellent. The star of the night for us was definitely the Nila Banana ice cream -- absolutely delicious and full of flavor! Their Kunafe paired with ice cream was also next level and such a unique, tasty combination. Everything we tried was amazing, and the experience made it even better. Highly recommend this spot to anyone in the area looking for great desserts and ice cream. We'll definitely be coming back!

The staff were so patient and friendly. They helped explain the menu and gave us samples of ice cream. They recommended the strawberry cheesecake ice cream and the pistachio/almond cheesecake ice cream and let me do a split scoop because I couldn't decide between the two since they were so delish! The other flavors were very interesting and good too. My family liked the banana because it was real rather than artificial banana flavor. The ice cream was rich and creamy, not icy and not overly sweet either. We also enjoyed the crispy kanafeh and rice pudding which was super creamy and thick and had a nice floral flavor to it. The chamomile and vanilla latte were also great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They had a cozy corner with comfy bench seating that was perfect to hang out in plus ample space upstairs too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There is parking in the back lot that is free but limited and pay for spot parking on the streets.

I love the ice cream at Filo and have wanted to try their knafeh since the first time we visited. After lunch today we walked over and got one to share. We had never had knafeh before, and weren't sure exactly what to expect since it's a cheesy dessert. We were VERY impressed and will come back for it again! It's a crispy, flakey dough, with a mild, somewhat salty, stringy cheese inside, covered with simple syrup and pistachios. LOVED IT. Since we were pretty full from lunch, we only ate half and took the rest home. The guy who helped us said to reheat it in the oven for a few minutes. I think we will be doing that tonight after dinner. This has become my go-to spot for Mediterranean desserts. Parking is conveniently located behind the building. Having lived in the Middle East for over five years, I sometimes really miss authentic flavors--and I'm so grateful to have found this place. The shop itself is small, but there's a second-floor seating area that offers a bit more space. I usually come for their homemade ice cream or their Knafooza--a crispy kunefe topped with your choice of ice cream. You can choose whether or not to have syrup on the kunefe, and extra syrup is available at the table if you want a little more sweetness. The staff are always incredibly friendly and hospitable, which makes the experience even better. Highly recommended if you're in the area!

My wife introduced me to this fantastic dessert spot in Downtown Orange, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. We ordered the Knafooza and the Boozalava with pistachio ice cream to share, and both were exceptional. The standout for us was the Knafooza. The kunafa was served warm, perfectly soft and gooey, with a balanced sweetness that didn't overpower the dish. The pistachio ice cream was smooth, rich, and subtly sweet -- a perfect complement that elevated every bite. The combination of warm pastry and cold, creamy ice cream was spot on. Service was attentive and friendly, and there was plenty of seating, making it easy to relax and enjoy our desserts without feeling rushed. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully crafted. It was indulgent without being heavy, and we're already looking forward to coming back to explore more of the menu.

I was actually blown away by the dessert here. As soon as you walk in and see the display case you can see the thought and intention that was put in to showcase their desserts and the delicacy of it. I ordered a boozlava and it was the perfect size for sharing between two people. To me it was a twist on a traditional baklava. The top was a thin crisp layer of filo pastry topped with pistachios. The entire dessert was crispy, creamy, nutty and delicious. The lady working was also really kind. She let us sample the different ice cream flavors, which are all great by the way. Couldn't recommend this place enough.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great variety of ice cream flavors in a space decorated with Turkish tiles.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were there when it was relatively empty, so the person working was really patient in letting us try out flavors. The crunchy baklava ice cream was delicious. While the ice cream flavor itself was plain, the baklava throughout added that extra bit of sweetness and texture that made it so good.

First of all I'm not Arab but I understand Arabic. I came to Filo on August 28th. I was recommended by some friends to try this place. Usually Arabs are known for their hospitality but that was clearly not there with one of the workers. She was a shorter older woman with her hair in a bun who was very rude to me while taking my order and would give snide remarks to her co worker while I was sampling some ice cream. I ended up just getting one scoop and leaving, the ice cream was pretty good so I'll give this place a 2 star but that woman's customer service needs a lot of work. read more

We loved the ice cream here! You can tell everything is made with high quality ingredients. Samples and scoops were generous too. It's middle eastern style ice cream so it's got that stretchy and airy texture. We got pistachio and strawberry and it was a delightful flavor combo. We didn't feel super heavy and sugared out afterward - it was the perfect level of sweet. The employee was also super kind and helpful! The ambiance is also very warm and inviting. I've tried Dubai bar and it's awesome, crunchy as expected and tasty. I hope they have an option to have it with dark chocolate. Turkish coffee is also great and they put a little different flavor (I think it's cardamom) so it's different than a regular Turkish coffee but I like the taste of it as well. Service is quick and friendly staff. Ambiance is also very cozy which I liked as well. Highly recommend if you are in the area read more

We happened upon Filo during an evening stroll through the neighborhood. They were having a "soft opening" and invited us in. Mo, the owner, is an incredibly gracious host, as are his staff. We love Middle-Eastern style deserts, and their ice cream and pastries are fantastic and a very welcome addition to the Old Town Orange area. For us, deserts of this quality had meant a drive to Anaheim, or even Westwood. So far we've had a few ice cream flavors, and their pistachio is the best we've ever had. We'll become regulars for sure. Give it a try! read more

OMG im obsessed with the knafeh here. I love the ice cream and the service is top tier. The restrooms and facility are super clean and it looks super organized. I love the paintings and historical facts on the wall when going upstairs. The orders are made custom and made/ decorated nicely when they are "for here" so many accommodations and options. I love it here and they are open late for any cravings!!! read more

I tasted a few different flavors of their ice cream. It is noticeably more "chewy" than the other Turkish ice cream place I have tried, which is in Long Beach. So I guess Filo's ice cream should probably be considered more authentically Turkish (but only "guess" because I'm certainly no expert). I tasted the pistachio flavor but felt it wasn't flavorful enough. I also tasted the baklava flavor and found it was not to my liking at all, even though I do like baklava. I felt it tasted strange, in an unpleasant way. They told me the one I ended up getting, Lotus Biscoff, is the most popular flavor. I'm not familiar with these cookies, but they seem to make for a good cookie-based ice cream flavor. I wouldn't describe it as memorable in the way I feel Peruvian lucuma ice cream is, but it was very enjoyable. I'm giving them a 4-star rating instead of 5-star rating for two reasons. First, because one flavor I tasted was really pretty poor and another was mediocre. Second, and perhaps more importantly, I feel they don't offer enough variety of flavors to choose from. read more

This is a family owned business and you can feel the warmth right when you walk in. The decor and the aesthetic is absolutely beautiful and is giving Damascus vibes. We tried the knafeh, coffee, and the ice cream. Everything was very good! We sat upstairs and the sweet young lady working at the time even brought us up an iced mango tea and a hot tea to try. This might be the best addition to Old Towne Orange. You can't get KNAFEH everywhere but you can get it here and it's delicious! The staff is friendly and there's plenty of seating as the shop has a loft. I will be coming back here every time I'm in the area. They also serve a variety of unique ice cream flavors. read more

Filo Dessert Co is an incredible addition to the neighborhood to expand the Middle Eastern culture in a warm and delicious way. The shop is beautifully in touch with the Palestinian roots, being family owned and architecturally pleasing. Coming from this background, I have high expectations, and Filo delivered. Booza (Arabic ice cream) which has a sticky consistency is something many locals are not familiar with, and what a way to share that through the power of culture and dessert. There is also knafeh and baklava, which are crowd favorites! The staff was very knowledgeable and offered top tier service and the ambiance was popping (I was impressed with the consistent foot traffic for a couple of hours for a Sunday evening). I look forward to tasting the variety of unique flavors across the board and they rotate their ice cream menu, trying something new each round and bringing us back for more. Location wise, it's perfect with the Orange Circle, and there's nothing else quite like it. We closed out with Turkish coffee and a little in-house coffee reading (a traditional thing for our culture) and had so much fun. Everyone should get a true taste of authentic Palestinian dessert, because this spot is an absolute must. read more

My family saw this place online. Decided to give it a try. Let me tell you the service was fast and friendly. Very nice people. Had Kanafa and ice cream some of my favorite flavors the biscoff, pistachio, lemon/mint, and Turkish coffee ice cream were all delicious! I cannot be more disappointment with my experience here. Ordered one knaffeh. They told me it would take 10 mins. We ended up waiting for over 30 mins, no seating, over crowded and cramped space. All this for a below average $12 4" semolina cake with cheese and very skimpy topping of pistachios. We ordered to eat at the location, and they served it to us in a to-go box. It was so gross. The restaurant reeked, the smell was described by one of my colleagues as "worse than my PE clothes". This restaurant has smoothies that call ice cream and their Knafeh was a disgrace to authenticity. There was no space to order and the whole place felt stubby. The only good part of this place is the aesthetic, it feels very homey. Now I run a tight ship and I don't believe in biased opinions, although I recently went to a authentic Knafeh store 15 minutes from here and their Knafeh and baklava is 100% better. So glad to find this charming place in Orange! Enjoyed meeting the Chef and his staff who introduced us to the menu. The ice creams are delicious, and we tasted a few to make our choice. The Biscoff, Lemon Mint, and Juju were all delicious and fresh! Many other desserts and coffee offerings are available, and all looked amazing. The decor is lovely and there are cozy places to sit and enjoy your treats. We'll be back! read more

The ambiance was so nice they had plenty of seating downstairs and upstairs. Street parking was easy to find. The dessert flavors were unique and so tasty, we got the Biscoff and the Baklava Lava and they were delicious. The service was quick and they were very helpful in picking flavors. This is my first time coming to the shop, my friend recommended it to me so i thought i'd try it. I didn't know how bad the customer service would be. Firstly i ordered a dubai chocolate that was extremely over priced and not worth it. While ordering it i was rushed by the old lady behind the counter who was extremely rude to me and impatient. Even when i tried sampling the ice cream she was rushing me to choose even though i only sampled 3 and she made sure to give extremely small samples where i can only taste ice. I think she might've been the manager there because of the way she was bossing her co-worker around, i don't see how the owner would let a person like her manage their store. I hope the owner sees this and takes into consideration who they put into their managerial position. read more

Their ingredients are top notch, like using protein and fiber-containing almond flour; also a healthier fat like ghee instead of butter (cheap bakeries including store bought use industrialized seed oils). As a sweetener they use allulose - a natural (but pricey) sweetener that is found in fruits but tastes like regular sugar, unlike the semi bitter stevia. I'm glad they don't use erythritol - a popular sweetener which has been linked to blood clots. They also use xylitol which, when isolated, prevents tooth decay - but is dangerous to dogs. For humans, results in far less carbs than regular inexpensive bleached white flour baked goods which when added with table sugar gives a massive sugar spike. Not good for people with insulin resistance (which includes many older adults). It's a small space but it smelled great when I was in there as they were baking. It would've been great had they sold good coffee and a place to sit but that would probably raise their prices even more. Because of the expensive ingredients, don't expect a lot of their goodness for the price. The carrot cake slice was probably half of the size in another regular bakery, but it was delicious. Note that because of the crushed almond, the texture is somewhat more grainy than a white flour based carrot cake. Same with the $9 Tres Lechces cake slice. But in both cases, the taste was good and I felt better eating them because the calorie count, as well as carb load was much, much less. Actually, what I was looking for was a cinnamon roll but they had sold out. There are a lot of different types of muffins, cookies and cakes.So if you're a sweet tooth, you should give them a try. (a side note - next door is a good Chinese restaurant - Royal Wok, with nicely prices lunch specials).

As we're sitting there, I noticed everybody was ordering the lemon ricotta pancakes, so I could not resist and ordered some as well. I will say the most underwhelming part of that was the lemon ricotta pancakes due to the ratios for the pancake pancakes and lemon ricotta. Overall, my experience was spectacular. These are reasons why it didn't add up 1) empty seats inside but had a line since 3pm and beer was released at 4pm 2) I don't think the people going for younger would just order one beer and not try other RR beers? 3) only one guy working beer counter and having to clean the tables and make sandwiches? 4) 12 oz pours of beer and keg with about 1984 oz would make it 166 beers. No way they sold 166 beers in an hour with one person working the bar and shop empty in an hour. They could have posted on their instagram or socials that they sold out but failed to do so. I'm sure a lot of people all night were disappointed to see that they didn't have it or post anything about it.

We ordered the breakfast burrito and smoked salmon toast. The smoked salmon toast was really good, but the bread was a bit hard; it wasn't the soft bread. The breakfast burrito was okay because it was a bit dry to me. It does come with salsa, but I would prefer if they had their own sauce. The menu is straightforward, divided into three sections: Beverages (herbal teas & coffee), Desserts (Knafeh & Baklava), and Booza/Ice Cream (offering a variety of intriguing flavors). The kind staff member allowed me ample time to peruse the menu. After careful consideration, I opted for the walnut Baklava, Knafeh, Turkish coffee, and pistachio Booza. Despite my unfamiliarity with these delicacies, each item I sampled was delightful. The Baklava, filled with walnuts and syrup, boasted a fresh and crispy filo dough. Knafeh, a novel experience for me, proved to be intriguing. Fans of contrasting textures will appreciate this dessert, served warm with a crispy exterior (kataifi noodle crust) and a warm, gooey cheese filling. Drizzling the provided syrup over the Knafeh enhanced its flavors. Surprisingly, it wasn't overly sweet, making it a delightful discovery. Finally tried Filo Dessert Co in Old Towne Orange after constantly seeing a line out the door and it definitely lived up to the hype. This was my first time trying desserts like knafeh and fresh booza and I was honestly blown away by how unique everything tasted. The booza has a super stretchy, creamy texture that's completely different from regular ice cream, and the pistachio flavors were sooo good without being overly sweet. The knafeh came out warm, crispy, cheesy, and perfectly syrupy while the baklava had the perfect crunch. You can tell a lot of care goes into the desserts here. I also loved how they blend traditional Middle Eastern desserts with a more modern presentation and atmosphere. The shop itself is really cute inside and the staff was super patient explaining the menu to first timers. My fiancée and I went in for the first time and we instantly were greeted by the owner and the person working. I asked the owner what he recommended and he was very helpful and enthusiastic about his product. He suggested a few ice cream flavors and he suggested that I tried the knafeh so I did and it was very interesting. I do recommend trying it for the experience it comes with! The owner of this place is a perfect business owner and isn't all about money instead he is so positive and supportive of his creation. The inside was very nice and full of positive energy. I often find dessert places hit or miss, but Filo Dessert truly exceeded my expectations. Though they offer a limited menu, everything was spot on. My boyfriend's favorite was the Knafeh, while I was really impressed by the ice cream and Baklava. The Baklava was crispy and not too sweet. I recently visited Filo Desserts, which just opened and is gearing up for their grand opening on July 13. I tried the vanilla coconut latte, and it was excellent! The flavor was perfectly balanced, making it a delightful treat. The interior is very cute with plenty of seating and adorable decorations that create a cozy and welcoming atmosphere.
