I heard her give the same level of care for the gentleman before us and the teens after us. They were attentive on quickly cleaning the tables once guests leave. They called us when the meal was freshly made; the bag was a bit greasy perhaps they should swap out the food gloves when doing final packaging fulfillment. It's in a complex along the Noho Arts district. Parking can be a pain if you're not already living in the area. I had the asignment of feeding 100 people at a funeral service for a close friend at Forest Lawn in Hollywood and after checking Subway and other sandwich shops, I spoke to ED at Firehouse subs in North Hollywood. Ed was very professional, informative and seemed to have the best selections and cost for our needs. The next day, I went to the location to try each of the sandwich types we planned to order- Roast Beef, Pastrami and the Chicken. All were really good and I wondered if the ones actually made for the event would be as good- THEY WERE! We ordered five of the catering "boxes" which had a variety of meats and all condiments on the side. Firehouse even delivered the sandwiches right at the time we requested. Decided to take advantage of a Door Dash credit and special to try Firehouse Subs. I am a big fan of Jersey Mike's so was curious to see how it would match up. My son and I decided to go with the Firehouse meatball and Firehouse steak and cheese. Both turned out to be hearty, tasty and fulfilling sandwiches. Loved the soft bread and fresh ingredients. The meatball was very hearty and good balance of marinara and cheese. The steak and cheese was also delicious but the cheese and steak could have been better balanced. Story time! Back in the mid 90s my sister lived in Jacksonville, FL and we grabbed lunch at a local spot where you can get sandwiches made by real firemen. I loved, LOVED their sandwiches including their chicken salad sub. Fast forward to the present where that once small business has now popped up in my neighborhood because it's been franchised. So, I have recently gotten in to Firehouse subs. I have ordered them twice off doordash, but since I was in the area, I decided to pop in, in-person. Boy- was that a mistake. There was NO ONE inside the place. There were 2 employees (one on register, and one making the subs), PLUS someone whom I believe was a manager. Well, I ordered a Large Jamaican Jerk Turkey, and wanted Extra Lettuce, Extra Onion, plus add black olives and jalapenos. Well- I got NONE of that, NO extra Pickle and NO CHEESE (that was already suppose to come on the sub). Firehouse Subs far exceeded my expectations. I thought Jersey Mikes was head of the class as far as Subs go, but After having Firehouse, I definitely reconsider. This place is a well oiled machine from top to bottom. Firehouse is clean, staff friendly and the subs are well made. You can tell all ingredients and meats are fresh and high quality. The only bummer is the parking. It's meter street parking, so make you sure you have quarters and pray you find a spot. With your first yelp check-in you get a free combo meal with sandwich purchase. Due to Covid no indoor seating but I think I remember seeing a couple tables outside you can use. I highly recommended trying Firehouse Subs to feed your sandwich craving. read more

The turkey and ham were good quality, however, slim on quantity. It didn't cover the bread completely. So unsatisfactory for me. They can't compare to Jersey Mike sub. Haven't been to a Firehouse Subs in a decade, and on top of that, it was in Virginia Beach, VA. I am in love with these melt-in-your-mouth sandwiches. We ended up ordering the Steak and Cheese and the Smoked Turkey subs. Ah, man. Just like I remembered it. Crazy thing is, I'm sensitive to gluten and the bread that they use, didn't make my tummy hurt. I didn't understand that. Generally, I can only eat sourdough bread and was able to eat their sub with no digestive issues. Loving it. Now the Mac and Cheese, DISRESPECTFUL. It tasted like someone had used the dirtiest water in the world or right out of a toilet to make it. As a chef, I can't imagine anything that would make their Mac and and cheese taste the way it did tonight. I also followed up with not one but two forms of communication. Once with an email and once through their app and never heard a response back. The customer service was awful and the orders were wrong. Both times the staff were super slow (there were maybe one or two people inside) and they lacked any decent communication skills or common sense. Our order ended up being wrong both times as well. I must confess that I belong to the group of women whom unabashedly love firefighters. The combination of physical and mental strength of character alongside the uniform and ability to save lives... it definitely sets off the smoke alarm! This preference of mine naturally means that I usually support any business that has a firefighter theme. Enter: Firehouse Subs. You're probably assuming I only have great things to say about Firehouse Subs, right? Let's take a look... Firehouse Subs is located near the smack center of the Noho Arts District and holds down real estate on Lankershim Blvd in a strip plaza (underneath residential living) next door to various eateries such as pho, poke, and create-your-own pizza. The striking thing about Firehouse Subs is that it is more than just a sub shop: it truly has a philanthropy angle supporting firefighters in respective communities with grants, events, and fundraisers making it not just about a profit or food. Kudos to Firehouse Subs, for that. That aside, what can the 'Average Joe' consumer expect at this location of Firehouse Subs? Upon walking into Firehouse Subs, one will notice a large dining area with plenty of seating, super bright lighting, a flat-screen television, and various firehouse accents such as hoses, firefighter boots, etc. Don't expect high-end decorations though: it is very much a fast food environment. In fact, a bit TOO much of a fast food esthetic. What do I mean? Firehouse Subs was filthy. The entire dining room floor looked as though it hasn't been swept in ages with food pieces, napkins, etc; everywhere. The soda machine area looked downright sticky and disgusting with a hand-drawn sign stating, "No Ice!" (so, apparently, the ice machine wasn't working). It looked like a McDonald's and not at all what was expected. Once you peel your eyes away from the disarray; you will see that Firehouse Subs is sort of like Subway. It offers the same chip selection and a menu of pre-configured sandwiches. The difference? Unlike Subway, there isn't much room for customization at Firehouse Subs (there IS a create-your-own option but not as many ingredients nor bread options) and the prices seem steeper. In the past, Firehouse Subs featured a menu selection of subs under 600 calories which it no longer does, to my disappointment. I decided to try the current promo of a medium Cajun Chicken Sub (Cajun-seasoned grilled chicken breast with zesty cherry peppers, melted Pepper Jack cheese and house-made Cajun mayo, lettuce, and onions served on a wheat bun -- $5.55 which I opted for no-mayo). So aside from the flith and limited menu, what else was a downside? The wait time. Firehouse Subs took FOREVER to make my order so it isn't Subway fast at all. Now, that is fine if the quality of the sub sandwich will be tip-top but that is not the case (I will elaborate in a moment). Once I finally received my order, it was placed in a sturdy recyclable container (not just a paper wrapping) and served alongside a deli pickle (nice touch). I literally live 300 feet walking from Firehouse Subs and I am sad to say that the time I spent waiting for that sub was in vain. It took about 3 min-top to get home and the sandwich was already cold. First off, the ingredients were messily assembled, the cheese was rubber, and the entire thing was mostly shredded lettuce. There was barely an addition of the main ingredients. The chicken was also cold and sort of bland in flavor (although 'colored' with a Cajun spice appearance). The only positive was that the wheat bun was soft and delicious and the medium size for 5.55 for the promo was decent. However, it was literally bread with lettuce with a few other hasty ingredients. I wasted $6.08. I genuinely would have rather had Subway, any day. Awful. Such a let down. As much as I support firefighters and the background story of this franchise; there is nothing else I recommend about this spot. The eatery was a gross mess, the wait time doesn't make sense, the quality of the sandwich was nonexistent... the whole thing is a rip-off. When a Subway franchise, which is basically the McDonald's of subs, is better; then you know something is wrong. Skip this place. read more

It's cute; it has like fire house decor, because it was founded for firemen! Menu I didn't get a look at toooo thoroughly but it seemed that they only really had hot signature subs, sides and the cold subs seemed to have been like "build-your-own" kind of thing... where you choose the type of bread and meat... then proceed to add the ingredients... kind of like a subway kind of thing but most definitely better quality. Good sandwiches but slow service. I ordered on Yelp and arrived when the order was marked as ready to pickup. I checked in and it wasn't ready, they said they were backed up and needed 10 minutes. I sit around waiting for 20-30 minutes and finally decide to check again and the order is just sitting behind the counter. No calling of my name or putting the order out to the visible pickup area as you would expect. The sandwich was sad and cold. Frustrating experience and waste of time.
