I was actually at this location picking up my own food when Rubina had this "poor" incident. Lol, Karen Alert. Homegirl looked like a walking Yelp review the minute she walked in. Half the stuff in that girls review is laughably inaccurate. Only thing true was she waited a bit before reasonably inquiring about her order. Except she wasn't reasonable she was an absolute nightmare to the already incredibly busy staff. She was extremely rude and called the girl with colored hair some ableist slurs just because the employee couldn't hear her in a busy restaurant. They didn't say her name was foreign they just asked her to spell it so they could get it right.. Multiple times they had apologized about her order and said they would make it all asap. Sucks to have that happen to you but you really don't have to attack a whole staff personally over some sandwiches, babe. Only person making fun of her was me as I cussed her out for being a miserable person the way she chose to talk to the staff. That Gucci purse didn't buy you any class, sis. Someone has never worked a food service job before and it shows. Take that refund from corporate and buy a new personality. Anyway, long story short the staff here are dope and the food is always great. I have been wanting to try this place out for a while and finally got in to check it out. I got the Hook and Ladder medium sub combo. Free chips or chips and drink with Yelp Check In! The Hook and Ladder was excellent. The bread tasted really fresh and was soft. There was a good amount of meat inside too which I always require for a good sub. Even amounts of ham and turkey topped with monterey jack cheese and all the extras. Soo good. Looks like all the subs are warmed which definitely enhances the flavors. I browsed the hot sauces shelf for a mix of heats. The range was 1 - 10 for hotness. Lots were duplicated and there is also regular BBQ sauce and A-1. The BBQ was awesome with this sub. Inside is fire fighter themed with all the gear and fire station feel to it. Staff was very nice and ready to start the order. Sandwich was ready in about 5 minutes. The place is decorated like Disney did a movie about firefighting Dalmatians and they also needed a place to sell sandwiches well here we are. I imagine these places are a hit in like Staten Island or Riverside. Sandwiches are good though. I always get the turkey ham dealy. You can order in advance online too. I like getting the fried onion bits and "beer cheese" aka cheese squirts on it when I'm feeling ultra disgusting. They have all these rando hot sauces and none of them are that good and I question how long they've been in their bottles. Yummmmmm! I tried Firehouse subs for the first time today and I was super amazed at how tasty my Turkey sub was. The potato soup was delicious also! I am looking forward to the rest of my order; the Hook and Ladder salad for dinner. Upon entering the restaurant I was immediately greeted by the three young girl's who were working extremely hard up front! The young lady at the register was super sweet and patient with my 91 questions, lol! The restaurant was super clean and organized and their parking garage is extremely convenient! Happened to be in town and decided to stop in for a quick meal. I ordered the beer cheese sub and oh my God it was so amazing. Their sauce that they have on the tables is like a vinegary chunky barbecue sauce and I want to drown in on everything. The sub was actually pretty big and I couldn't finish all of it in one sitting. Rather get the $9.25 Sundown Special at the NoHo diner. I've had fresh sandwiches made at the Pavilions deli that I would choose over this, for less money. I am glad we got to try this for free because now I know. Meat quality nice but overall it's not a great deal. A place that doesn't publish their prices in their pamphlets or website (unless you start an online order) means they probably change them often. They are already high for a mediocre sub. The sub received looked nothing like the piled high examples on the Firehouse website or other yelp pictures- Don't be fooled by the quadruple volume shredded lettuce adds in photos. Without that, ours looked like an empty sub roll. I had to pick a half up to make sure they didn't forget to put anything on it. Third, I don't like that I cannot see the sandwich being made like you can at Jersey Mikes or Subway. Sure the dining area seems clean, service friendly, but what is going on back there? What if I wanted more or less of whatever extra veggies or you drown it in too much sauce? I work at the Hollywood Bowl and was recently introduced to Firehouse Subs by some of my colleagues. This place is fantastic! Great food that contributes to a great cause founded by firefighters. I'm all for it!!! The first time I visited Firehouse Subs, I got a large steak & cheese on white. I was so hungry, taking a photo of it for a review wasn't part of my agenda. This time around I ordered the CLUB ON A SUB! Another great hot sandwich! The bread was toasted to perfection with hearty helpings of fresh veggies & delicious deli meats topped with provolone! It was so bomb! I checked in via Yelp and claimed the free combo upgrade that included a fountain drink & a choice of chips or fresh baked cookies or brownies. CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE FOR THE WIN! I can't speak highly enough of this place. Great wonderful, patient staff. Clean establishment with stellar food! I do recommend one thing to customers. It's that kind of hospitality and service that warrants a 5 star review. Thank you very much Sam! I just left this restaurant 10 minutes ago. I ordered a Hook & Ladder Sandwich on the app, but meant to order a New York Steamer. When I went to pick up the order I informed the cashier I ordered the wrong sandwich. I asked the girl making my sandwich if I could switch to a New York Steamer (which was less expensive). The girl making the sandwich said she couldn't because the sandwich was already made(even though it wasn't ready). I don't eat pork and had to pull the ham off and eat a Turkey sandwich. Decided to stop before heading to Universal Studios since we didn't want to spend hours in line for overpriced food (not that it's not good). We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of sandwiches they offer. We tried the meatball, the steak and cheese, and a turkey. They were all sooo very good and well made using quality meats. I've never had a really bad corned beef sandwich, until today. First, it was fatty, and corned beef is supposed to be lean. Second, corned beef is supposed to be juicy, but this was dry as a bone, and the dryness made the fat stringy and tough, so every bite was gag-worthy. for the price I paid I expected something a thousand times better. I ordered a veggie sandwich via door dash with the standard 3 types of cheeses it comes with, mustard, dressing , and lettuce only. I had such high expectations with this store. I grew up in a deli owning family and definitely appreciate the craft of a good sub. So to begin with, I was assured for 2 weeks in advance, numerous times that this store could do a corporate order via invoice sent to our main office for our college union event and that they have done this very thing for other companies in the past. As it is a union event, I explained that I do not have access to a credit card, and that the store would need to send the invoice to our main office and in turn the main office would make the payment. Assurances where made over that period of time. I spoke with Piere, who claimed to be the manager, and Steve the general manager. I called the night before the order was to be delivered and was once again told, invoice then payment was OK and my $400 order would be delivered by 11am the next morning. Next morning comes around and something told me to call and check on the status of my order. Unfortunately the store opens 1 hour before my delivery was scheduled. I called at 10:02am. Steve picked up the phone and informed me, he spoke to the owner and "since we make our food fresh we want payment up front and the owner dosnt know anything about this invoice or purchase order kind of payment. How do we know you will pay. Money needs to be paid up front" This hostage situation of an event less than an hour away was not cool and the scramble began, as the event was approaching and 50 people where going to be pissed if they didn't get their food. I came out of pocket, with the possibility of no reimbursement, to make sure the event went on without a hitch. I provide a personal debit card, even made sure the driver was tipped heavily to make sure the food would be delivered by 11:00 am. Now for the delivery issue. Even after a hefty tip, the food wasn't delivered until 12pm. The driver seemed chipper and happy, but was still an hour late even though the delivery location is less than 3.5 miles. Now for the food itself. The sandwiches are barely 4 inches long, cookies hard and brownies dry. Very very over rated for a "FRESH" product that had to be paid for in advance. Also, an assortment of different sandwiches where ordered but the delivered product was all the same thing. I'm sorry, I wish I could say more but what we received was definitely not worth the expense, headache or hassle. What's sad, this owner Edward Bedigian, owns the North Hollywood, Van Nuys, Universal city and Simi Valley stores, and I truly hope he doesn't run all of these sites the same. Ed, you need to do better and have left such a foul taste in the mouths of many educational union members, along with the loss of a future relationship of several thousand members of a local, I assure you, we will be spreading the word to our California membership and our national membership of our horrible customer service. Love this chain, but even if ordering through the main website for delivery (which has been great in the past), there are odd issues. This round ordering through the direct website, estimated delivery at 7:01pm, it didn't arrive until 7:28pm. No confirmation texts like in the past, and this time it was delivered from a non-descript vehicle. It's always been the Firehouse Subs vehicle in the past. I had called the eatery at 7:15 asking about the order, and they said that the driver had left awhile ago. I'm only about 10 minutes MAX from the location. With the recent articles regarding delivery drivers and their actions with the food between store and customer, this round made me exceedingly wary about what took so long. That being said, the sandwiches were still superb, but it looks like they skimped on the Mac & Cheese (or something happened to some of it between store and customer). It was less than 3/4 full on the small container (see photo, I honestly thought it looked like someone had taken a "sip" off the edge and replaced the lid, as there was sauce all up the side, but none on the lid). It was my first time here. I came here to redeem a deal for a free sub with any purchase. Got the sub, came back to my car, started to eat it, but was disgusted when a couple bites in had a long hair coming out the sub. I went back kindly to tell the cashier to just tell the workers to tie their hair up. They offered to remake the sub but honestly I lost my appetite after that and also the sub was free so i didn't care at first. I just wanted to let them know to be cautious for future guests. One of the workers comes up and asks me what color was the hair. Told her the color and she said "couldnt be mines I have pink hair." That's not the issue. I'm just letting you know to be careful with your hair. She got bothered that I told her that and continues to not even help but make the situation worse until the cashier sincerley apologized. The Experience: This was my second time at Firehouse Subs, but my first time review. The place is nicely kept with firehouse decor throughout. The customer service is friendly, polite, and overall seems like the employees there are happy. Just a good vibe overall that I felt in the place. I'm personally not much of a spicy (hot) eatter in general, but they had a variety of hot sauces at the end of the counter too. This last time I went with friends, and they encouraged me to give it a shot.. so I gave in and tried it out. I tried one that was not very spicy, but added a nice variation to the taste and I actually really liked it. Highlights: + Deliciously fresh tasting subs (Tried the "Hero" sub last time, and it was great!) + Ample parking in the parking garage and street (entrance through the front and back) + Friendly and happy staff (You'd be surprised how far a smile can go sometimes) Conclusion: I've definitely tried a lot of sub sandwhich locations in Los Angeles, but this is definitely a shining star the universe of sandwhich places. Ordered via mobile just to wait in line to have my drink poured for me when usually the customers there fix their own. This is not sanitary being that the same cashier that's taking cards & cash from different customers without changing gloves in between all of this is the same cashier fixing the drinks with her bare hands all over the cup and straws. Counterproductive for mobile customers who want to just get in & get out. Counterproductive with maintaining sanitary standards.
