When we came by for breakfast I got the Nova Benedict: this was actually humongous! The potato latke was the size of my giant plate and there was so much salmon. It came with greens and then poached eggs & hollandaise, of course. I needed a knife to cut up the latke, though it was good, and the salmon was abundant though just okay. Everything else made up for that, however, and I definitely left full. My buddy had the Matzo Ball Soup and thought it was incredible! There were multiple items I wanted to try, but, knowing I plan to return soon, I started with the chicken and waffle. This is my regular meet-in-the-middle spot for one of my girlfriends and me when we are both in the office and meet for lunch. During the lunch hour, it's always packed, but the service is attentive. I had a good experience at a different Friedman's location a couple years ago so decided to try out this one. Spoiler alert: it was a similarly good experience. I ordered the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes ($19), which were nice and fluffy with 3 decently sized pancakes. To be honest though, there wasn't that much lemon or ricotta flavor in there, but they were still good pancakes nonetheless. There were a few strawberries and a generous helping of whipped cream on top. I also tried the Pastrami Hash ($20), which was a tasty and more unique brunch option. There was a mix of pastrami pieces with hashbrowns and two runny eggs on top. There was also a piece of toast with butter on the side. I appreciated that they didn't make the pastrami too salty and there was a decent amount of it in there. I only had to wait a few minutes for a Saturday brunch for two, which was a bit surprising considering Friedman's is usually pretty busy. While most tables were indeed filled, it did not feel crowded at all and the space felt open and clean. Our waitress was friendly and the service speed was fast. Overall, Friedman's remains a classic NYC brunch spot and for good reason. While it might not have anything particularly unique, its offerings are all solid and will likely not disappoint. read more

They were very busy, but seated us right away. They do seem to try to fit as many people in as small a space as possible. Sadly, service was not that great. Arrived at 10 am on a Saturday and the wait for 2 was not bad at all, around 10 minutes. Once seated, we were offered coffee and drinks right away which was nice. It also didn't seem to take that long for the food to come out which is always good. Everything was really delicious, would definitely come back again! Nova benny: -I was immediately drawn to order this because I love salmon benedicts and love the concept of using potato latke instead of the traditional English muffin. I really enjoyed the crispy edges of the latke, which provided a nice textural element to contrast the creaminess and softness of everything else. The salmon was fresh, and the spinach was a nice vegetable component. The poached eggs were cooked well, the yolk did burst upon cutting but was cooked enough that the yolk didn't completely spill across everything (which I personally enjoy because I don't like everything to be drenched in yolk). The hollandaise had flavor, but was nothing extraordinary--a simple but well done hollandaise. Shakshuka: -very flavorful and I loved how chunky it was. It was delightful dipping the crunchy parts of the bread into the tomato sauce. For my personal preference, I wish I asked the eggs to be cooked more done because the yolk was pretty liquid but I did not want the yolk to mix into the sauce and change the flavor. Overall, very delicious. Korean BBQ wings: -I really enjoyed the flavor of the sauce, and the wings were fried to be really crunchy. While it was really delicious, I prefer wings that are not so fried and have more meat as opposed to batter, so I would probably pass on getting these again in the future. I can't deny however that it was hard to not keep going for another wing. I just wish there was more meat and a thinner layer of batter. Blood orange elderflower spritzer: -Upon sipping it, the only thought I really had was wow it's so pleasantly refreshing. As for flavor, I couldn't really detect anything. I didn't really taste blood orange or elderflower (not that I really know what elderflower should taste like tbh). I tasted prosecco but even the prosecco flavor wasn't prominent.
