My boyfriend chose Garibaldi's for a Valentine's Day dinner, and we were able to get a table at 6pm without a prior reservation. The interior of the place was very intimate with candlelight at every table and dark surroundings. We were seated in the backroom and I liked the privacy and more quiet ambiance. Our waitress was really nice and welcoming and took our orders shortly after explaining the a la carte Valentine's Day menu. We ordered the bread and butter starter, roasted cauliflower, and oysters off the specials to start. The bread and butter was so good we got another order of the bread to finish out the butter! The warm bread had a great crust with a light texture on the inside and the softened butter was topped with flaky salt. This pairing is always special when the quality of ingredients is good. The roasted cauliflower was tasty, though I think there was almost too much chipotle sauce on top. The pickled onions were much needed to balance the richness of the sauce. The oysters had a good flavor, but they were so tiny that 3 for $15 was not worth it. For mains, I got the winter chopped salad and my boyfriend ordered the dungeness garlic noodles. The salad looked huge and was a great portion as an entrée. I liked the sort of grated hardboiled egg on top, which added a nice touch of protein. I liked the bitterness of the leaves with the light dressing, everything was fresh and balanced. The dungeness crab noodles were to die for, so garlicky, buttery, and with big chunks of crab meat. The waitress said this was a relatively new addition to the menu since dungeness crab season just started, so get it while you can! For dessert, we got the tiramisu which came in a big slice, but we were not complaining. It was perfectly fluffy and light, with kahlua soaked ladyfingers and a delicate cream in between its layers, topped with a nice layer of cocoa powder. Overall, a nice romantic local spot for a fancier dinner!

We had a wonderful dinner last night at this neighborhood gem. We ate at the bar, and Rachel, the bartender, took very good care of us, as she did all of her guests. The place was bustling; the food was excellent (we had the mushroom risotto and the Garibaldi's burger); and the staff was extremely attentive. Highly recommended.

The service was kind of slow which is why I'm giving 4 stars. We sat for almost 15 minutes before anyone even approached our table. But the server who eventually showed up was nice. The chicken Milanese was very good with a generous portion. The steak "frittes" was very good. But the scene stealer was the olive tapenade that accompanied the bread. It was warm and briny with so much flavor! The ambience inside was romantic, upscale and classy without being too stuff. Pretty great neighborhood restaurant.

Really good food, our favorite was the lamb. Steak was cooked well. Also got the caesar salad

Chicken Milanese - delicious and big portion!

Solid option in presidio heights, portion sizes were big, nothing too exciting but everything tasted great! We had heirloom tomatoes, croquettes, burger and chicken Milanese. service was good, friendly host and wait staff, pretty loud but we were seated upstairs due to lack of space and we liked the quieter atmosphere there

Celebrated a friend's birthday here a while ago. Forgot to write a review. Perfect time to catch up now that I'm on a hiatus. So I remember the restaurant being very packed inside, shall we say "intimate"? Food was mostly okay. Our favorite was the Papas Bravas and the Chicken Milanese. The Steak Diane was not to my taste. My husband's French Dip with au jus was okay. This is a nice neighborhood restaurant, so 3.5 stars bumping up.

We came here for our friend's birthday and it ended up being the perfect spot! We had a big round table which I loved it's perfect for conversation. Our server he was wonderful quick and I never had to look for him I consider that all excellent qualities. The wine list here was amazing ahh pricy but amazing none the less. The food was super delicious flavorful not a one of us were unhappy about our orders. I was so busy trying to taste everyone else's dish, I was full before I started my own dish lol The ambience is perfect classy and a little noisy, because they're packed with a huge group of regulars and I know why, because everything is just so delicious. Starting from the perfectly cook rock cod, to the creamy risotto to dye for and then the chicken Milanese melts in your mouth and topping all of that off with the slow braised beef brisket, all these dishes with the amazing wines we ordered, starting with the French Champagne over to Merry Edwards Pinot and all together made for a beautiful evening with much adored friends aka family. We all loved everything oh yes we will be back ASAP! Cheers all SYOY

High ratings, few reviews, but we were adventurous and decided to try it, glad we did. Ingredients is on a corner, looked relatively new from the outside LED "Open" sign prominent in the window. Once we walked in, however, we entered a different world from what we were expecting. Luxurious mustard seats, lots of tables for four, seating with high gray bench banquettes, reminding me of a 70s tune ("Diamonds in the back..."); retro vibe elegantly done with modern lighting and sconces. Not cheesy by any stretch, but in a neighborhood place you could wear sweats or a suit to eat at. Our waiter was Jackie, an enthusiastic young man who seemed like he wasn't just there to wait on tables. Throughout the evening he was easy to chat with while being knowledgeable about his food he served without being condescending. He made someone unfamiliar with the menu feel new-to-us dishes weren't going to be an experiment. We ordered the beet salad, the 8 ounce hamburger with fries, the mushroom risotto, and on Jackie's recommendation the Nepal BBQ ribs. In the meantime they served us house made brioche buns-warm, soft, delicate and chewy, flaky; reminded me of Texas Roadhouse buns, but far better. Served with a little olive oil and balsamic in a separated dish, you could eat them plain and enjoy the craftsmanship of baked excellence. We wanted more but in retrospect we would've been filled up with brioche and not enjoyed the meal. Tough choice. The roasted beet salad, served with shaved fennel, a beet balsamic jus, and an apple-citrus slaw that was fresh, sweet with hints of citrus offset by the fennel so it wasn't cloyingly sweet. The textures were enjoyable-the softness of the beets with the crunch of the fennel slaw, we anxiously cleaned the plate! Next came the risotto and the burger. What was enjoyable was the mushroom risotto-a refreshing presentation of toothsome Arborio, creamy yet firm, interplaying with a variety of mushrooms that immediately became one of the better risotto we've had, texturally excellent, not one note like most risotto, it came out hot but not searing; deft hands created a concoction that kept us going back for more. The burger was simple, cooked medium, but one of the best we've had in a very long time. We should qualify the burger as a cheeseburger as we were given a choice- bleu cheese or cheddar, we chose the bleu cheese and it was a good choice, just the right amount complimenting the veggies that came with burger. Oh, the fries-skinny, perfectly fried they stayed equally crunchy from first to last, served in a mini fry basket that was cute but it also showed they meant business, these fries were better than that Irish fast food place, and aren't they the iconic standard of French fries? IMO Ingredients is now the new standard. They were served with house made ketchup, excellent with or without. The ribs came last originally accompanied by a Mac and cheese but since we ordered risotto they served the ribs separately with a slaw. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone, but a little more savory than sweet , served with just enough sauce to accompany the ribs without being messy, easy enough to eat using knife and fork, the kicker was a hint of five spice, subtle enough if it's in your background, but not an annoyance if it's not. Flavorful, hearty, filling, delicious, We ended our meal with a homemade "apple pie," a creation made of thinly sliced apples, perhaps poached, with cinnamon, cardamom, allspice, along with fresh fruit, and a yummy scoop of "creamy"mango sorbet. Lots of surprising good vibes-no crust, all apple, not heavy; the mix of spices played well with each other; mango sorbet wasn't icy like sorbets tend to be, the fresh fruits added a touch of freshness to the dish that could have been sweet-centric, but not. A delicate yet satisfying end to a delicious meal. We met the chef, Sok, at the end of our meal, who had his culinary training n Kathmandu and expanded his repertoire in his world travels. He definitely knows how to elevate a good meal, and his Nepal and French influences add an understated flair to what he cooks. Sok takes tremendous pride in what he presents to the diner, evidenced by who he hires, and how each dish is presented. Dining in Ingredients is gratifying, from the dining room to the staff to the dishes themselves. More people should give Ingredients a try, a gem of a neighborhood find, a rarity in SF! Thank you so much, we have a new favorite restaurant!

We just made it in time to try out their corn-themed menu! The best part about Trestle was coming with my partner, as the 2 of us were able to order everything on the menu to try! Our dinner consisted of: -Corn soup: one of my favorites from this menu! The corn soup tasted very light and very sweet. Could have licked the bowl on this one. -Caesar salad with cornbread croutons (I repeat - CORNBREAD CROUTONS!!!) -Corn risotto with shrimp: tasted like jambalaya to me -Cornflake-crusted salmon -Pork chop with elote: my second favorite. I usually do not like eating pork, but the way Trestle cooked this pork was insane. I imagined that they used a sous vide, because the meat was so juicy and tender. -Olive oil cake with corn cream -Rich brownie and caramel corn cluster - topped with a birthday candle, so I could make a wish! Customer service was great. Trestle really made us feel like guests of honor, and they were thrilled that we chose Trestle to celebrate my 30th. It was uncomfortably warm in that area, and we were served lukewarm water, which made for a disappointing first impression. After being seated, it took about 15-20 minutes before our order was taken so it felt like we were maybe forgotten. Since there were seven of us, we decided to order family-style. We ordered the Butcher Board, braised short ribs, Brussels sprouts, truffle Mac and cheese, and the Salmon Provençal after learning they were already out of the branzino. Considering the restaurant had just opened for service, it was surprising that this menu item was unavailable. The food arrived much faster than expected, which initially seemed like a positive. However, after tasting everything, I questioned whether some items had been freshly prepared. The fried calamari on the Butcher Board was cold, and several cuts of meat were cooked closer to rare than the requested medium-rare. The other items were ok and didn't really impress the table. The Salmon Provençal was unfortunately overcooked, leaving the fish dry and dense. It ended up being the least enjoyed dish at the table and was barely touched until the end of the meal. The highlights of the evening were the truffle lobster mac and cheese and the braised short ribs both were well-seasoned, served piping hot, and easily the best dishes we ordered. The service was another disappointment. It was difficult to get a server's attention for water refills, additional orders, or even to request the check. While I appreciated that our waitress comped the birthday dessert, the overall level of attentiveness fell short, especially considering the restaurant appeared to be adequately staffed. Overall, both the food and service left my boyfriend and me disappointed. Aside from a couple of standout dishes, the experience did not meet our expectations, and unfortunately, it's not a restaurant we would return to.

CONS: now ok...once again i know this is san francisco but if i'm paying $21 for a shakshuka, i'm expecting it to be at least enough food to feed maybe 4 people. imagine my surprise when this dish came out and the shakshuka was sitting in a bowl that was about the size of a candle jar lid....and like 2 pieces of bread. i'm sorry for $21????? that's criminal. as good as all the food was, NOPA felt like a one time deal for me because i quite literally can't justify the price to portion size ratio. also it was so incredibly loud in there, i could barely hear my husband talk from across the table. those tables are packed TIGHT.

Sure, sometimes it's nice to visit a lesser-known restaurant in hopes of finding a hidden gem, but the reality is -- any eatery worth Yelping about is being Yelped about. Every part of dinner further solidified Memento's status as a one-and-done deal. The mocktail we ordered was so syrupy thick, it needed watering down before we could drink it. Paella with sausage had a thin layer of crisp rice. Oddly enough, the tomatoey elements coupled with the type of sausage used reminded me of pizza. My bf reported that the steak in his surf & turf was undercooked & had a "funny" flavor. 'Nough said. As much as we'd like to support a neighborhood restaurant, it cannot be at the expense of good flavors & basic cooking techniques.
