Yesi was out server and she was very attentive, polite and accommodating. The Guacamole was fresh and flavorful. I order the fish n chips from share portion of menu- easily an entree! It came with three huge pieces of fish. The batter was really tasty and I enjoyed the accompanying aioli but the fish itself could have used a little seasoning. Hubby had the Cuban sandwich and no complaints. This was very good. Tasty margarita with tajin season on the rim, a nice touch. Why the plastic cups tho? We came during a World Cup match so most of their draft beers were tapped. Cans and bottles were available. We had a great booth seat with a beach view and they had a large screen playing the match.

The food was great! We ordered the filet sliders, and the caramelized onions really made them stand out. The ambiance was lively, and the huge TV made it a perfect spot to watch the World Cup. Unfortunately, the service was unbelievably bad and completely took away from the experience. Our server never introduced herself or welcomed us she simply walked up and said, "Are you guys ready to order?" and that was the extent of our interaction. After dropping off our order, she essentially disappeared. We sat for what felt like forever trying to order a beer, but she never checked on us. I finally had to ask another server for help, and even they told me, "Your server should be coming," but she still didn't show up. When she eventually returned, she tried to take my beer order, only to tell me they were out. Fine, no big deal--but she still didn't refill our waters or ask if we needed anything else. Our sliders arrived with no napkins, no share plates, no extra ketchup, and no follow-up to see if everything was okay. We finished our meal with empty glasses and had to ask a busser for the check because our server was nowhere to be found. Even then, the check never came until she finally wandered back over to ask how everything was. I understand it was a busy day, but being busy doesn't excuse being completely absent. A little communication and basic attentiveness go a long way. The food and atmosphere were excellent, but the service was so inattentive and impersonal that it overshadowed what could have been a great visit.

Bang was awesome, attentive and checked in several times to make sure our order was on point. The restaurant got busy as the Ghana vs. England match went on. I fully appreciated the drink presentation and our food was pretty good - we had a minor issue with the fries which was quickly resolved without reservation. I'll definitely be back.

Lots of seating and beach views which is nice! Service was slow on the night we came in. We came in on a Tuesday night and it was not busy, but it took about 45 minutes for our food to be brought out. We got the new filet mignon sliders which were very tasty and good flavor, would recommend these! I swapped out the fries for mashed potatoes, but the mashed potatoes were a bit bland for me. Buttery but otherwise did not taste seasoned. The skirt steak sandwich had a nice charred taste and was also tasty and popular, but a bit dry. Wish it came with some chimichurri on the side! Fries were fine, unfortunately cold and not fresh. Salad on the side was served soggy. My fiancé enjoyed his mezcal margarita! The two sandwiches and drinks were a hit, the sides could use some work.

Not so Lobster Roll

I've been back to Gaucho Beach a couple times since my first review and although I'm updating my review to 4 stars for the food, there is still room for improvement. My friends and I do enjoy the vibe here, being right on the beach, outdoor, dog friendly and with old school jams playing. While there's usually a short wait, it's nice that Gaucho Cafe is next door so people can grab a seat, drink and/or snack while waiting. Didn't seem like the lobster roll recipe changed much since my last visit so I opted to try the new Soft Shell Crab Sandwich. The brioche bun was soft, the creamy coleslaw consisted of purple cabbage and added a nice texture with the fried soft shell crab. The fries were done just right too. I would actually get this again since there aren't many places that serve it. Hubby got the Chilaquiles with chicken and we were impressed with the quantity and quality! There was a good amount of grilled chicken breast, eggs and the bowl was loaded with chips that remained crispy in the flavorful red sauce throughout the meal! My friends tried the calamari, which was good and the lobster omelette. My friend liked the omelette but the lobster meat was pretty minced, making it a little difficult to tell if it was really lobster in there. The service was a little hit or miss. We had to track down our server a few times. My hubby was still waiting for his beer when our food came out. Oh, they also don't have hot sauce?! They only have house made chimichurri, which isn't bad but it's not that spicy and doesn't give the heat that any hot sauce does. I'm sure I'm not the only person that asks for Cholula or Tapatío. Nonetheless, the food came out in decent time, we enjoyed our dishes and ambience here overall.

Went to Gaucho Beach for their advertised oldies & funk brunch, and honestly the best thing they have going is the beachfront location and people watching. We were expecting a fun mix of oldies and funk music, but after maybe five oldies songs it basically turned into a Michael Jackson playlist for the rest of brunch. Food-wise: Steak & eggs: steak was good, but the eggs were rubbery and the potatoes lacked flavor. Chilaquiles: tried both the green and red salsa. The green was good, but the red tasted more like regular tomato sauce. Chicken & waffles: was surprised that it was chicken strips but was even more surprised that they tasted good, but the waffles were very dense, although they did have a nice sweetness to them. The drinks were good and the staff was great, which definitely helped the experience. Overall, more of a spot for the view and vibes than the food.

Came with hubby and grandkids. Food plates too big for young teens but they were too old for kids plates. Service was friendly but a bit thin. We had almost finished our plates when the obligatory' how's your food' question came up. Enjoyed the music and decor. Gaucho salad worth a mention for texture and taste but it was heavy on the raisins.

Bang was amazing, I think that if I asked him to donate a kidney he probably would. Every time he came to the table I got lost in his contagious smile.

My gf and I came in for a drink after a walk on the beach. We didn't expect much on a Tuesday afternoon. We tried the signature strawberry basil marg and the Bloody Mary and they were both banging! Also, shout out to Bang, our bartender. We are coming back just for his drinks. He was super nice and my gf loved his playlist.

Yesi our server was amazing.

Being from Long Beach but moving away and seeing all the changes that has taken place throughout the city is quite amazing. Long Beach was not what it's like today. Now it's a place where there's so many things are happening and restaurants and shops are scattered everywhere. Cluster of area are trendy, blocks are full of amazing restaurants, massive new apartments complex replacing empty lots all through downtown. And of course this place. I remember when it was just an empty spot where it's just the beach, the park and parking lot. Now it's a pretty cool beachfront restaurant and bar right on the sand and bike path. It's been so long since I left that I'm not quite sure how long this place has been here. I've seen it often when visiting walking the path or meeting friends for dinner down the street. Plus seeing post about this place and hearing from friends, it was finally something that needed to be done. Friday afternoon, just as happy hour was happening we popped in for drinks. Nothing major just something to have while checking it out. Checked in with the hostess which we mentioned that we wanted drinks and not brunch. She mentioned that the bar area was full but followed her anyways which they did have seat available. There were plenty of open tables but not sure if we were able to have one if we were just having drinks. She never offered it to us. Anyways, bar seating was fine. It wraps around. Menu for happy hour was decent, a good amount of drinks as well as food items. We had to get someone's attention so we could order. Normally you would get acknowledged when seated at the bar but it didn't seemed like they even noticed us. Finally someone, placed our order for some drinks and then some food. Drinks, beer on tap and one of the red sangria on happy hour. Beer, you can't go wrong with it. Sangria's, it was nice and refreshing. Had a few fruit chunks mixed in. Food, we shared an order of the mussels. They brought out the meal but no extra plates for the shells. Also, no utensils which we had to ask someone sitting across from us to pass some down that was sitting there. And shells were placed onto a napkin. Anyways, the mussels were quite nice. They were pretty small in sizes but the broth was very flavorful. The restaurant itself is quite beautiful. Downstairs has the bar with some nice table seating looking out to the bike path and beach. There's also an upstairs which we didn't get to check out. Overall, the place is quite beautiful. Service was a little slow until we got someone's attention. Drinks were good and the mussels were tasty. There's a small parking lot out back but just to the side , a couple minutes walk is a bigger lot.

Our best World Cup experience at Gaucho! Yesi our server was so attentive and always made sure we had drinks full and ready to go. They had great drink specials for the World Cup. Can't wait to keep coming here throughout the World Cup showing. Go Sweden!

Is this place toddler friendly? My little one loves to roam around

Hey Kristina! Of course! You also have a kids' space right next to Gaucho Beach :)

Hi do we have to make a reservation for 10people I called but no answer?

I've seen reviews that you need to tip before ordering on the app. Is that accurate?

Yes it's correct

Are there heat lamps?

Last time I was there they only had a few working heat lamps, and it was a nightmare trying to get one!

Fourth time here, when is the roof top open, pray tell? Only weekends, a waitress just informed me.

I bike almost nightly and it's often open up there. Maybe you go to early ? It was jammin last night lol. Dj I think

Is their outside patio pet friendly? We visit Rosie's dog beach and would love to stop for a bite once our pup is tuckered out from running on the beach!

Yes they are very dog friendly. All dogs and cats are welcome in the outside seating areas.

Since you don' ttake reservations would a party of 13 be able to be seated roof top on a Thursday night about 6:30 pm.?

Not really, it would be a nightmare and they don't really have a way to group enough tables together. Their ordering system is no good. Food comes out at random. Some of your party will be finishing their entrees, while other people will just start… Read more

Another unexpected favorite was the wings. I'm usually not a big wings person, but these were surprisingly good--crispy, flavorful, and definitely worth ordering. The beef itself was a little chewy and in large pieces. I prefer the meat to be cut a little smaller and would like more lettuce and cucumber. I got a little taste of the spicy fried rice, which was really good. Some of us ordered Thai tea and didn't expect what we received, which was the tea with a Thai tea popsicle. What a treat! The Thai tea itself was pretty standard, but that popsicle was like the icing on a cake. The places, modern and clean. Staff is helpful and nice. Training can be a little hectic some times when you're in the service industry and sometimes it can slow service down. Our server Ben was on it. We had the grilled artichoke, chicken piccata, and the cioppino. All very very delightful. During our dining experience I needed to use the restroom. The smell in their bathroom was amazing. Probably one of the best smelling restrooms I had ever. When I was leaving, I politely ask the hostess if she knew what the name of the smell was bc it was so awesome. She wasn't telling me the exact name. She essentially told me the essence. While in the middle of her talking, a female manager aggressively told us that they were not aloud to tell patrons the scent. Hey, I get it, but as a person who was a manager for one of the highest ranking upscale casual dining restaurants, who has worked in 5 star resorts, knowing how to provide kindness to both guests and staff, this manager did not present those skills. This manager was quite frankly disrespectful not only to her staff, but to me. There is a way to handle situations without embarrassing your staff member and making them feel small and showcasing your flex of power to a diner who was about to drop hundreds for a dinner in our volatile economy. This manager did NOT handle this appropriately. Like i said, she was rude, extremely aggressive to respond, and not once smiled and said, "I'm so glad you love it. It's our secret to get you to come back." She did try to say it was a secret, but seriously... with the way she treated her staff.... I think she better focus on hospitality rather than the scent in the bathroom. After this interaction, I actually watched and observed the manager during the remaining time of our dinner. I wanted to see how she interacted with her staff. I wanted to see if she knew how to manage without flexing on her staff bc obviously she doesn't know that words matter and what you say and how you say it can make or break your staff's entire night which can reflect on how they treat their guests. I get this is lengthy over a restroom scent, but as a person who thrives on seeing the beauty in how a management team can make a huge impact on the success of a company, if she's openly rude and aggressive to me and her hostess, how is she with the rest of the staff and guests? Just a little food for thought. I will say, that interaction totally changed my view for the remaining time of our dinner. I truly hope that the female manager who was working last night June 1 reads this and changes the way she handles situations. From what I saw and experienced, she needs to take a step back and regroup. She needs to be retrained on how to treat her staff, how to smile with kindness, and how to kindly make a joke about the scent kindly with laughter rather than an attack on her staff. To the hostess: I'm sorry you had to be treated that way. You were incredibly kind from upon greeting us even to the very end. You're awesome. I'll return back, but I do hope next time, the manager from last night is on a better wave length as the people who help create her position. There are a lot of great managers out there willing to take that place.

Parking is usually very easy with lots of spots. It's a shared lot and it can can full on weekend afternoons / evenings but even so we find parking. Nice large lot.

How about a Wedge Salad with shrimp added? Can't forget a specialty cocktail while sitting at the fire pit!

This place is always amazing! We came with a group of 12 on May 17th for our annual Pride brunch,…read moreand everything was fantastic. The food was exceptional, with every dish coming out fresh and delicious. The atmosphere was lively and perfect for celebrating with friends. And of course, the bottomless rosé didn't hurt either! Great food, great drinks, and great service every time. We always have a wonderful experience here and can't wait to keep coming back!

I visited Ellie's on a Tuesday afternoon around 4 PM and was seated indoors. The restaurant was…read morefairly quiet at that hour, so I expected attentive service, unfortunately, that wasn't the case. I ordered the burger and fries. Visually, the burger was impressive and looked exactly like something you'd want to dig into. However, the salt level was overwhelming to the point where I genuinely could not finish it. What made matters worse was that our server was not attentive with refilling our waters, and when you're working through an extremely salty dish, hydration isn't optional. I left the meal feeling dehydrated and honestly a little frustrated. The bright spot of the visit was the Brussels sprouts, which were genuinely well done and showed some real kitchen care. If I were to return, I'd probably stick to the vegetable sides. For a restaurant with a 4 PM lull and minimal table traffic, there's no excuse for that level of inattentiveness. A simple water refill and a quick check in would have saved the experience. As it stands, the combination of an over salted entrée and absent service made for a tough sell on the value. If you're in the area craving a burger, you might want to save your money and head down the street to Louis Burger instead. Ellie's may shine in other areas; I've heard good things about the pasta, but this particular visit missed the mark.
