Came in here a few weeks ago--when it was freezing-- and was greeted by Second Streets finest, Izzy and Janeth. The cold didn't stop the two from being so sweet, nice, energetic, and welcoming. Izzy sat us at a amazing table & our waiter, Achrista was fantastic. I love coming in here and seeing every single employee smiling and hard at work. I've been a customer at George's for some time, though it has been a while since I'd been last. I ordered take out this time. They forgot the dressing for my chicken gyro salad (which is really annoying when you order a salad as an entree), the chicken gyro was dry and tasted "eh", and the portions seemed much smaller than I remember--lots of rice and less meat (I ordered three entrees). I hate to give this place 3-stars, but that's what it is in my opinion, at least based on my most recent experience. read more

Usually I would give 5 stars but I was disappointed with the lack of effort from our server. I have family visiting from out of state and we decided to come here for dinner not realizing it was the stroll and savor of Belmont Shore. We got to the restaurant and it was a little noiser than usual because of the live music outside and the live music inside...I have an 11 year old daughter with anxiety and all of the noise was a little too much...even for me I must say. We asked our server if we could sit in the back and he said no. That the back and upstairs is not available. He didn't even check with anyone to see what he could do after telling him that my daughter suffers from anxiety. I feel a little more effort could've been displayed on his part. read more

I came here on several different occasions and everytime I come the food is very consistent and good. Ive tried the gyro's, lamb, chicken, beef and theyre all good. I am in love with George's Greek Cafe! Their selection of Mediterranean food is amazing and there's a lot to choose from! I would suggest trying the hummus with their fresh baked pita bread for starters. For lunch I usually get the soup and salad combo which comes with a small traditional Greek salad and your choice of soup (the lentil soup is really good) AND more fresh hot pita bread. If your there for dinner, then I suggest the falafel sandwich with fries, the tahini sauce adds the perfect touch. This has definitely become a regular spot for me! read more

What a great find. My husband, our son and his girlfriend and myself happened by this place and decided to eat there. We ordered about five appetizers, a bottle of wine, and some baklavah. Came in on a Thursday afternoon for lunch based on the high Yelp reviews and I must say, George's Greek Cafe failed to disappoint! From the moment I was seated, my server, Nadine, ensured that I would have an excellent dining experience, accommodating my every need from deciding between fries and salad as my side ("just split it half and half") to providing the wifi password. Let's get to the food. I started with the dolmathes, a warm stuffed grape leaves dish with rice and ground beef and a yogurt sauce. While they kind of fell apart after the first bite, they tasted amazing. Definitely a good start to the meal. I followed that up with a lamb gyro sandwich with a side of garlic and feta fries and a Greek salad. The gyro was very tasty with tender, moist lamb and the sides were, like everything else I had eaten, delicious. I can't overstate how pleasant the atmosphere was. The open, airy layout leant itself perfectly to yet another beautiful day in Long Beach and the pleasant, helpful staff made me want to stay long after my meal was done. If I had the time, I would have loved to drink wine on the patio and enjoy the 2nd St people watching. Alas, real life awaits. I will certainly be recommending George's to my friends and will be back in the future. read more

Went here with the boyfriend for a date night. The food came in really large portions and was very delicious! Our waitress was nice but kind of intense. Upon being seated and opening the menu she came up to the table 3 times within 5-7 minuets to ask if we were ready to order. The whole meal was like this. We shared the spanakopita appetizer, then the calamari salad and if I remember correctly the keftethes with rice and veggies. I try to avoid dairy since I'm lactose intolerant, but spanakopita is my weakness, and George's does not disappoint. I'm tempted to go back and just order ten servings of this, and die happy. The Calamari was good, and it came with tasty pita bread. My bf had the keftethes, and was more than satisfied, but especially impressed with the rice. And our waiter - I believe his name was Francisco - was an attentive, patient and funny guy, so the overall experience was really nice. Tables were grouped fairly closely together where we were, so I had a faceful of butt a couple of times, when the waiters reached over to hand dishes to the neighboring table, but they're in shape so it wasn't the worst. (but seriously... I don't know if the configuration was an unusual thing but if it isn't, please consider separating the tables a tad on the second floor). read more

Every single time I come to this location I sit on the patio (can't beat the people watching) the food is always phenomenal, I get falafel and the garlic hummus to start with. The service is ALWAYS perfect. The staff are so attentive and friendly. My cup never goes empty. We came in on a Tuesday night and had Niles as our server. He was great! And there was also live music. Simply beautiful. The portions are huge and very filling. The wine is delicious and the ambiance is wonderful. I love George's!!!!! read more
