Lunch special garlic pepper chicken for takeout - delicious!
    Clarissa A.

Updating my review as I have been lucky to come here several times for lunch and for dinner. Great service from the owner/operator and you can't beat a $9.95 lunch special (before tax and tip so comes out to $12-$13). He's so kind! You can also call in your order as well if you want to takeout and things are packaged just as carefully and nicely as if you're dining in. Casual atmosphere, as typical of Koreatown restaurants but spacious and clean! A rare gem in LA!

I feel like you could never go wrong with hanshin pocha! A great spot to hangout, grab good pocha food and drink. We ordered the chicken feet, diy rice balls to go with the chicken feet, brisket tteokbokki, the whole fried chicken (tongdak) and the stir fry chicken gizzards. All of the items were delicious! Our personal favorite was the whole fried chicken. It came with radish, salt & pepper, and a small side of coleslaw. The chicken was crispy and juicy. The chicken feet wasn't as spicy as it used to be. I was looking forward to the spiciness but they honestly tasted pretty mild. The pieces were also a bit small, but maybe we got an off batch. We received our orders quickly! Service was excellent. We arrived at around 7 pm and it was empty. Started getting more busy at around 8:30. They validate parking! Be sure to have your license plate number handy so that they can validate it. Would recommend!

Food was good and the view was so pretty, but this is getting a 3 due to our rude server. The young girl with black hair and a bun seemed to be intentionally avoiding our table. I am very understanding with servers, as I have worked in customer service & I understand how difficult the job can be. However, it was apparent she had some prejudice against us. After we flagged her down, it took so long to even get a bottle of soju. We had to double ask, and when she did, she would roll her eyes and place the soju on our table. She would give us the menu like she didn't want us to be there. It was to the point where the lady with blonde hair had to take over. She was very nice, we love her. At this point there were only 3 parties, and it was quite early in the night. Therefore, it wasn't busy at all. She would smile at the elders, but to us she would roll her eyes and not even make eye contact. Sad that people treat other people this way.

    Lunch special (#3 beef)

I tried their $10 lunch special (#3 beef). The service is ok (on a work day it took them about 15 min to prep the bento box). On the plus side, the Bento box have quite a few varieties of food mix. They also taste pretty good mostly. The downside one is the portion for the meat is a bit small (welp for 10 dollars these days I cannot whine too much), the other is that they charge extra dollar for take out orders (maybe the bento box itself is expensive) The ambience environment is decent and I think I might come back with some friends for dinner and hangout. They also validate 10 hours parking at the Hmart parking garage. Anyhow, this place seems to be worth a try.

I saw this place on Tiktok as a budget friendly recommendation and had to come try it out! They have a $9.95 lunch special, Monday through Friday and there is a pretty good selection as well. It is on the 3rd floor of the mall and has a great view outside while you eat. #1 Grilled pork lunch box - 9/10, for $10 it's a pretty solid lunchbox and was quite filling. I would definitely get it again! Pork was delicious and I love all the side dishes This is a great deal, it is self service (getting own utensils, grabbing the food when it's ready, placing food back when you're done) and for the price it's worth. I'm looking forward to trying the soups/stews next time!

Called ahead on a Saturday night to ask for a reservation and was told to just come in. Got there around 11:30pm with my brother, and after being greeted by the staff we were seated almost immediately with the option of indoor or outdoor seating, opting for indoor. The dishes were a little pricey, but great in flavor. I got the BBQ Pork w/ cheese, and we shared the whole squid. I wish the BBQ pork was a little crispier, but flavor wise it was yummy, mixed with the cheese it was honestly a dish I'd come back for. The squid was cooked well, though I wish it had a little more flavor through seasoning, the sauce it came with was okay, but in both our opinions didn't fit the dish (tasted similar to a steak sauce). As for the restaurant itself, we didn't check out the outdoor seating, but the inside was nice. Seemed like they were renovating some part of the entrance though at the time. The atmosphere was great, a little loud so you really have to speak up so you can hear your group over others around you. Only negative part of the experience was the bathroom, wasn't the cleanest and the paper towel trash can had piled up. Other than this, it was a fun experience, and I would come back to try other dishes soon!

Hanson pocha is a must try in K-town! There are plenty of parking garages around the area and you enter the restaurant through the mall. Upon entering the vibes give off night life in Asia and is usually packed on the weekends! As far as food, the cheese dumplings are a must try, as well as the cheese pork ribs on the sizzling plate! This is a great place to go with a big group and grab some drinks with some great food to go along! Highly recommend!

This whole lunch special bento box which is approximately 2 meals worth is only $10. The tonkatsu was crispy, the soup was brothy, the tempura was flaky. Nothing on this plate was of amazing quality, but every component worked. Next time, I'll try the other boxes because the tonkatsu one is too heavy on the western influences (the sauce for the tempura was ranch, the 4 banchan that day also leaned creamy a la mac salad) so the only korean acid-y reprieve was the gochujang celery stem. The sauce on the tonkatsu almost tasted like ketchup. A major steal and a smart move for a pocha perched on the top corner of a shopping complex.

My sisters and I went to Hanshin Pocha to get lunch before our appointment at the consulate, the place is nice and casual yet has a cool vibe, the staff are quite friendly and the food - generous, yummy and affordable, unless you are famished and haven't had anything to eat for days, the lunch bento has the perfect amount of goodies to fill you up for your lunch craving. My sisters and I had the Kimchi fried rice bento while my cousin had something else - my Bento box personally was loaded, sausages, kimchi, tempura, kimchi fried rice and all other kinds of small bites, I liked it a lot and it was enough for a satisfying lunch. Overall, Hanshin Pocha is good place to hit especially if you want a quick lunch that won't ding your budget.

Hanshin Pocha does a really wonderful lunch special 11-2. Its only around $10 for a large bento box with lots of food. You can get your own carafe of water. The ambience is nice. Truly a great affordable lunch option. You order at the register and they call your number. Food was plentiful and pretty tasty especially for the price. And there's free parking during the day.

I finally tried Hanshin Pocha over the weekend from Korean celebrity chef Baek Jong-won. I have to say the food here is a notch above other Korean bars in the area, for sure. Found in the corner of the second floor of the City Center on 6th, it's kind of hidden across the street from Chapman Plaza. But since it's hidden, when I went on around midnight on Saturday, it wasn't totally packed to the brim like other KTown spots. The atmosphere was chill with really nice outdoor seating overlooking Wilshire. Service was prompt and friendly, they have the call button for service which is always appreciated. They have drinks and eat galore, but one fun item they have is DIY Rice Balls! Smart idea, fun to make, plus goes well with the other dishes. You can sit there making rice balls while chatting & sipping. In general, Hanshin Pocha focuses on Korean street foods with the most popular dish being the chicken feet. Next time I'm in....definitely getting the chicken or pork cheese fondue. Another fun, indulgent, delicious dish! Open until 2am!

What seemed like a deceptively simple bowl was one of the most delicious and flavorful meals I've had - I'll be thinking about my bowl for a long time. I got the plain kalgaksu, mainly because it included pork potstickers. The anchovy broth isn't fishy (which I was concerned about), it's deep and full in a way that's hard to describe. It penetrates the noodles and potatoes well. The broth is similar if not the same between most bowl types. The cold noodles were also delicious, which a couple of my friends ordered. Quite large portions, as just about everyone had to take some home. They also have bibimbap if you're craving a rice based meal instead. I can't wait to come back - maybe not on a Saturday night next time so I don't have to look so long for parking!

I really wanted authentic Korean food that was not kbbq and not tofu and this place delivered! This restaurant is in a small strip mall. The strip mall has other Korean food options. They have a valet parking system of sorts but we didn't pay, we self parked. The attendant told us we were fine. It was approx 9pm when we arrived and also a week night. I have no idea how much valet parking is here. We were a small party of two. Upon arrival, we were notified they were out of RICE. Um..what?? That's a good problem (for them to have) but not for consumers. I feel this really limited our options to just soup. I honestly didn't want soup but there wasn't much else we could order. The bowls were large and came out piping hot. It was a satisfying meal and not too heavy. The price point was on the pricey side. Our waiter told us business has not been the same post covid. Some dishes are between $40-$60. I asked for a soup and they were able to make it less spicy. My friend got a soup with dumplings in it. He put a good amount of soy sauce to give the broth some life. Also, the banchan is on point. We asked for a refill and devoured the second portions. If you wanna impress friends with Korean food, bring them here! Its a casual place.

If you're searching for some of the city's best pork, then those in the know will bring up Ham Ji Park. For 2 decades, generous platters of pork ribs and pork neck stew decked every table. Now, our Korean friends lament the loss of their favorite pork joint in the city. The Koreatown proper location is located in the Royal Plaza mini-mall, just a few blocks off bustling Wilshire. Discounted parking is available in a lot across the street from the Chevron gas station. From the street, the entrance is flanked by potted plants and an enclosed street-ery. Inside, stainless steel chairs are pressed up against wooden tables, each outfitted with a metal grill. Oppressive fluorescent lighting shines down on the stone grey walls, which are left undecorated apart from a few flatscreens. Multi-lingual chatter blends with the sizzle of platters. I visited with some friends for a weeknight dinner, and about half of the tables were occupied. We shared a spread of grilled platters and sizzling soups. The meal began with a carafe of barley tea and a mostly standard spread of banchan. Across our food, the best dish was the signature Charbroiled Pork Spare Rib. The ribs were flavorful without feeling gamey, and the meat was complemented by sweet caramelized onions. The pork ribs handily outdid the good-not-great Charbroiled Beef Short Rib. Lastly, the Milt and Cod Rose with Vegetables stew was fishy and briny, appropriately flavored for the Korean palate. The service was appropriately attentive, although I would've appreciated more intentional refills of our banchan ramikens. The rib plates cost upward of $35 each, while the soup was just under $30. The portions were hearty; a single entree platter could reasonably feed 2 moderately hungry bellies. It's a shame to hear that Ham Ji Park has closed; I'm kicking myself for not trying their pork neck stew earlier.
