The place was starting to get busy at 4pm. By 5pm there was a line. Got the C2 Bulgogi Combo Sliced Rib Eye with plain Seafood Tofu Soup for $29.49. The bulgogi was too sweet that we didn't finish it. The seafood tofu soup was alright. It had 1 shrimp, 2 tiny clams, and 1 mussel. Plain soup was really plain and had barely any flavor. We also go the C8 Yellow Corvina Combo with plain Beef Tofu Soup for $28.49. The yellow corvina was alright, it wasn't as salty as the small side fish. The beef tofu soup had slightly more flavor than the seafood soup. We also go another seafood tofu soup (S3) for $17.99, but mild spiciness. It wasn't spicy and added a bit more flavor. Overall, we felt the quality of the food was not good. The waiters were very fast in taking the order, dropping off the food, and giving us the check. There was a water girl who did refill our water cup frequently. Felt like an assembly line. If you want something fast, be in and out in an hour, then this is your place. BCD in K town LA was packed with a 30 minute wait but it was well worth it. There is an iPad in the front of the store where you can leave your name and then a heated tent to keep you toasty while you wait outside. The side dishes (banchan) are always great, with a personalized fried fish and various types of marinated veggies, savory jelly, potato salad, and squid. The tofu stew combos allowed me to have both dumpling tofu stew and stone pot bibimbap! The stew was delicious with lots of small dumplings and beef inside. The bibimbap had lots of different veggies and the stone pot left the rice extra crispy at the bottom of the bowl. Service was very quick and it helps to speak Korean since all of the serving ladies were fluent in it. Definitely will be back for more next time. read more

We recently stopped by for take out lunch. Lucky they're open earlier which is great in order to have home in time for lunch. We got the Galbi combo with kimchi beef soon tofu. To go portions felt smaller than in person dining. They also charged the dinner price rather than lunch price, so the portions are even smaller than I would have thought since it was the dinner price! My fault for not checking the bill before paying and leaving. Next time I'll request the lunch special rather than the dinner option. They have plenty of tables and large parking lot which is amazing for Ktown plus a security guard making it feel a bit more safe. The Galbi was good and thick! Sauce/marinade is always good! The service was excellent (most especially from the ajummas who were always around to fuss over you). Our drink orders were taken while we perused over the menu (and we only had hot tea all around). The food was good and portions were generous. However that is not what this review is about. This is one of the worst service experiences I have ever had in a sit down restaurant. Four of us ordered individual combos during what was said to be lunch time on the menu and we ordered them as "lunch combos". The food for two of us came out quick but the other two took ages. They also forgot rice for one person and never brought it despite us asking. The most annoying part was the water. We asked for water refills 5 times before getting them, and it wasn't until we were leaving that they came with a pitcher. To top it off, they charged us the dinner price and when I asked why they said they didn't do lunch there (but it was on the menu and advertised). Oh BCD, how you've taken care of me and fed me during many late nights in my youth. I'm always coming back because the food is solid and for the plentiful banchan. The tasty yellow croaker with the bones that stab you in the throat but you keep digging in anyways cuz it's perfectly seasoned and delightful. The last visit on a Sunday evening did require a longer wait. Thankfully, there were heat lamps on the outdoor patio so it wasn't too cold. I ordered the spicy raw crab which has been my new favorite dish at BCD and some veggie soup because ya can't forget to eat some greens. It's a great big portion and enough for me to take home for leftovers. Grateful for the staff for giving me gloves but that crab is messy so expect it to look like a crimson, delicious crime scene. read more

After 16 hours of flights and layovers this was exactly what I needed to hit the spot!! They don't take reservations so you'll need to join their waitlist in person. At 8 pm on a Saturday night I waited about 30 minutes for a table of 2, and as soon as we sat down the server came and took our order so we'd get our food as soon as possible! It was very homey and the waitresses were very attentive in the restaurant, we had our waters/teas/sides refilled easily; the waitress even added tea to our hot stone rice so we could get the last bits of it! The hostess made sure we were taken care of (she picked up a fallen napkin and replaced it with extra without being asked) and was especially easy to contact; we never had to wait more than a few minutes to get the attention of any workers. The bibimbap was amazing-- I finished that entire dish on my own, the sauce and veggies paired exceptionally well with the rice, and the spicy pork bulgogi was a nice add on for an extra bit of meat. It is 24 hours which seems to be a rare gem in LA these days. Food was quick delicious and yes piping hot. Banchan hits the spot with the soju to wash it all down. Plenty of parking which is rare, it is ktown. They actually make the soup spicy here, sometimes they take it easy for the general public. The seats are crammed next to each other but its part of the ktown experience. so thats a point deducted from ambiance unless you were going for that real asia experience! BCD Tofu House is my favorite restaurant for SPICY TOFU STEW (Soondubu Jjigae). BCD is a Korean restaurant chain with 8 locations in Southern California and some locations out of state. Why do I love BCD tofu? BCD adds "beef bone broth" to their tofu stew;therefore, when mixed with their secret anchovy base, aromatics, and high-quality red pepper flakes- the outcome is delicious! Their tofu stews are never fishy! Also, BCD version of KIMCHI is just superb! They add fresh oysters to their signature house kimchi that really makes a difference. Again, never fishy! Their BBQ Beef Kalbi is tender and seasoned well - very Good. Everything is always fresh due to high turn over and their food are consistent in quality. The only downside I can think of is that the menu is not flexible- meaning: no "custom made" orders to add or omit ingredients. -Parking is easy in a huge private lot (rodeo galleria shopping plaza). -Service is always efficient. -Cash/Credit accepted. read more

Came here this past Friday night with some friends after a night out in KTown. It was my first time visiting BCD in a good while, I ordered: Combo (Spicy Chicken w/ Hot Stone Rice + Original Beef Tofu Soup) and Tofu Japchae. -The spicy chicken was good and not as spicy as the waitress said it would be, which was pleasant. The tofu japchae was a bit disappointing because the "tofu cutlets" were very small pieces. I was really excited about this dish but was pretty disappointed to be completely honest. Original beef tofu soup was delicious though, and the banchan (cucumbers, kimchi, and fish cake) were all yummy. The potato salad was quite unique because there were apple bits in it--not horrible, but definitely a unique taste. They were quite busy for a Friday night. The lighting is good inside of this restaurant and there are plenty of tables. Although tables are close to each other, it is easy to get around. BCD tofu house is always a classic! This is my second time here and I have to say that my second time was way better. I really recommend ordering the combo since it's the most worth it instead of ordering the individual entrees and soon tofu. My friend and I both got the bibimbap and it was so good. Most of all we love the Banchan and we threw all that into the bibimbap too. The tofu stew had plenty of tofu and was super flavorful with the perfect amount of mild spice. The veggies in the bibimbap were well seasoned. I would say that their quality of meat is a bit lower than other places but the flavor is definitely there. I would also give the service a 5/5. The servers are super attentive and continuously asked if we wanted more refills of Banchan. For 26 dollars this was definitely a steal. There are countless nights that a bowl of tofu soup and a side of some meats on a skillet totally hit the spot. I have been given the chance to bring other people who has never had a tofu soup experience and BCD should be their first to have a benchmark if they decide to try a different place. This location holds a fair amount of people. I've been on a weeknight and weekend and never had problems finding a seat for immediate service.
