Yummy and fair priced. Dimsum starts at 5.88 and portions are good. Chicken feet, pan fried turnip, pineapple bun, tripe, beef ball noodle with beef. We will definitely be back when we are in the 626 area. We came on a week day lunch and place was packed. Service was good.

I heard great things about this place so I decided that it was time to give it a try. Came here to try their dim sum which was not too shabby. Their prices are similar to other dim sum places in the area. The dim sum is decent. I especially enjoyed their steamed rice noodle rolls. This restaurant is located inside of Holiday Inn but there is an entrance to the restaurant off to the side. I will say that when it gets super busy for dinner, they close that side entrance so you would need to enter through the hotel entrance instead.

Ambiance: it's a popular Cantonese restaurant located on the ground level of the hotel, shared parking lot, packed and limited seating inside the restaurant Service: so disorganized and very unprofessional. First of all, no accurate estimate over their waiting lines, I was told about thirty minutes wait, but it turned out to be more than one hour and twenty minutes; second, I witnessed one customer dropped a red envelop to bribe the front door host in order to skip the long line Food: variety choices on their menu, classic Cantonese dim sum and cuisines Shrimp & Pork Siu-Mai - *** barely tasted any shrimp, nearly any visible pieces Pan Fried Chives Dumpling - **** tasty, recommend Deep Fried Sesame Ball - *** served barely warm, sitting in kitchen for long, average Beef & Cilantro Rice Noodle Roll - *** average Shrimp & Onion Rice Noodle Roll - *** average Roasted Duck - ** fatty and tasted old Soy Sauce Chicken - *** average Roasted Pork - **** crispy skin, recommend Price: modern portions and mediocre quality, not quite worth $35+ per person

Happy Together in El Monte seriously exceeded expectations. Everything we ordered was on point, but a few dishes really stood out. The shrimp dumplings were fresh juicy, and definitely a must-have. The coconut crispy chicken had that amazing crunch on the outside with coconut favor while staying tender and flavorful inside. But the highlight of the meal was the roasted duck. Super crispy skin, and rich flavor. It had the little candles underneath the plate to keep the duck warm. It's easily one of the best I've had in the area. Great food. Highly recommend if you're craving quality Chinese dim sum.

Connected to the Hilton Mall, this place has really good Chinese food. The food doesn't feel greasy at all. Came here during Chinese New Year and other times for Dim Sum. The roasted pig was super delicious, the skin was crunchy, and the meat was moist and cooked to perfection. During dim sum, the food is ordered via paper. I would recommend the rice noodle with soy sauce (it was so so fresh, I ordered it a second time). Service is good! Everyone is friendly and fulfills requests pretty fast. Lots of seating as well!

This restaurant is located inside the Holiday Inn and parking can be extremely challenging especially on the weekends They're open daily 10am-3pm & 5pm-9pm Dim sum is $6-7/dish and $2.50/person for tea (there's an option to bring your own tea for $1.50/person) Inside was spacious with plenty of seating but wished there was more room in the lobby for those waiting to be seated NOTE: my pics are of takeout I've gotten there. However, I have dined there before but just didn't take any pics! I came on for Sunday brunch and got there around 11am so wait time was over an hour Service was not very attentive since they were busy The dim sum was very delicious. The siu mai were huge and consisted of 4 pieces. Each piece was stuffed with plenty of pork that wasn't too fatty and shrimp. It wasn't too salty but not too bland. Definitely recommend! The tripe was slightly spicy but very good. It was packed with flavor and was very tender. The Coconut Crispy Chicken ($16.88) was so crispy and the chicken was so good. The meat was tender and the skin had a hint of coconut taste in every bite. Definitely a must get! Overall, the food was very delicious but the service could use some improvement.

One of the few dim sum restaurants left that serve great food that isn't from frozen manufactured brands. Pork Siu Mai has a great meaty flavor and texture with nice size pieces of mushroom and shrimp. 9 out of 10. The Shrimp Har Gow has a nice bite and the wrapper is wonderfully light and great texture 8 out of 10. Steamed Rice Noodles will always be a childhood favorite and the shrimp and sauce is top notch. 10 out of 10. Accidentally ordered tue BBQ Pork instead of the Roast Pork and was unable to send it back. The edges looked dryer than I cared for but the BBQ sauce made up for it. 7 out of 10. Besides the food, expect to wait 30-40 minutes for a table and be patient looking for a parking spot. It would be nice if they had carts, but this place is small and tight and a cart isn't going to fit. Maybe if they expanded to a larger location, it would be something to consider.

Came in to Happy Together with my girlfriend for dim sum with another meetup group. We arrived early and were able to find parking quickly. Others struggled to find a space. There was a serious line well before they opened their doors at 10AM. Fortunately there are some benches and chairs for people to sit in while they wait. Service was slow but the food was probably the best dim sum I've ever had. Pretty good selection of items and reasonably priced. For 8 of us our bill came out to $35 per person including tip. We even had some leftovers that a few people took home with them. I'll definitely return, like I mentioned above this was a very tasty dim sum experience for me. While Happy Together doesn't have carts that they push around from table to table they take your order to the kitchen and return with your food. In a way the relatively slow service worked out for us as most of the meal was paced such that we were able to eat most dishes while they were hot.

One of the better spots in SGV for dim sum! My party of 5 came on a Saturday afternoon 15 minutes after they opened and had to wait about an hour and a half before finally getting seated. They have an online waitlist which made it convenient to check on our queue placement. The interior is pretty clean and spacious. Because it's shared with the Holiday Inn hotel parking lot there was very limited parking and it was difficult to find since it was busy. There is parking on the street or the McDonald's lot. We ordered 8 items totaling to about $100 and the food was fresh and really tasty! My favorite items were the shrimp rice noodle roll (cheung fun) which was really chewy, the half steamed chicken which they gave a generous portion of, and the baked bbq pork bun which had a flaky top and bits of corn flakes on for a nice crunch. In terms of service, specific workers are really attentive and nice, filling up our teas and clearing items but some of the waiters were okay with service. One of the waiters had brought out the wrong chicken item and the waiter bringing it out pretty much dismissed/ignored it, but upon calling the manager, they were able to take back the wrong order and bring out the right item. Overall I enjoyed the food a lot and it was worth the wait considering I had company to talk to. If you come on the weekend be prepared for long waits and get on the waitlist as soon as they open!

We came here for our first time and the food was good. Only the chicken was a bit dry, in my opinion. Service was awesome. Staff was very attentive. I made a reservation a week in advance and good thing I did. Looked quite pack during dinner time. Easy parking. Saw they have dim sum in the morning. Will be back to try dim sum next time.

    Amaya P.

The food is really good. Got the lamb pot and it has bamboo and it wasn't games! Very rare combo. The chicken was crispy and juicy, not dry. Clams were on the small side. The pumpkin with fried salted egg yolk could be crisper and better batter. All the food overall is really good. The AC was on and cold enough instead of being stuffy. Area of Improvement is the staff. I asked for a fork and spoon for my kids and it took more than 3 times...all differently waiters. For the crab, no utensil shell cracker was provided or wet towels. No desserts like red bean was provided or oranges even after ordering live seafood (crab). Overall I'll come again for easy free parking and the good and tasty quality of food

Come early or be ready to wait! We came on a Saturday at 10:07am and barely got seated since people were waiting since before they opened at 10am. Food was so delicious! In particular, their cheung fun is phenomenal... super thin and full of ribbons, not the thick layers that most places have. We unexpectedly found out that they had a promo BOGO on Steamed Ginger Chicken and Soy Sauce Chicken. If you order half a chicken, they'll serve you the whole chicken. For four people, we ordered 7 dim sum items and 1 steamed chicken (half), it came out to $100 including tax and tip. We had leftover chicken! That's a great price for delicious dim sum and good service. Although, I hate when dim sum places charge for tea per person nowadays (it's $2.50/pp). Of the many, many dim sum options around the SGV area, this is my current favorite for their BBQ meats quality and superior cheung fun.

    Tony Y.

I really like happy together, despite the long wait times. I guess that's how you know if a spot is really popping or not. They do really have some of the best churng fun's out here in the 626, and their crispy noodles with that gravy is pretty legit. This time around, I was able to get a picture of their amazing coconut chicken. Come early or come late, but come on time, you'll have to wait lol. Parking also get pretty packed, but i always just park on the street and walk.

They have a lot of tables inside so it is great for small and large groups. The waiters were also fast even though they were busy. We ordered their Kung Pao Chicken, Fried Tofu, Beef Noodle, Shrimp w Walnut, and Vegetable w Garlic. We decided not to get lobster since it was pricey. They took our order pretty fast and gave tea to drink. The pot of white rice is extra $1 if you order though. And their menu book doesn't have prices for some reason. Only the to-go menu has prices. Food was served in a decent amount of time, around 15 minutes. And all dishes arrived close together so we didn't have to wait long. The kung pao chicken is so good! Not spicy at all and very nice and crispy with good seasoning. It tasted delicious with some rice. The beef noodles were also delicious! It had good wok taste and was very flavorful. The tofu and shrimp were also good. None of the dishes were too salty and all were seasoned well and in pretty big portions, though I don't remember the exact price since they took the receipt away when we paid. But the meal was very worth and we had leftovers for lunch the next day. Such a yummy meal! I really enjoyed it! I am definitely coming back again!

My family and I used to religiously eat lobster noodles whenever we made a trip down to SoCal. The pick of the bunch was 100% Newport Seafood- no negotiations, no contemplations. Unfortunately, the last handful of times have left me extremely disappointed and heavily annoyed. The cost and wait times do not reflect what is actually being provided and most of our food ends up being left behind because it simply isn't worth the calories. In all honestly, I've grown a phobia w/ that specific restaurant at this point because of the countless letdowns. My initial taste of Boston Lobster was about 3 years ago and I had the most enjoyable meal. Due to our LA trip coming to an end, my BD thought we should do it big with some lobster noodles- for good old time's sake. I absolutely refused to go anywhere unless we would be giving Boston Lobster a visit! Sure enough, they did not disappoint! Dinner for 3 adults and 1 toddler consisted of: *Boston House Special Lobster [no spice] + Garlic Noodles for an additional fee. Medium Size 5-6lbs minimally. *French Style Beef Cube *Sauteed Snow Pea Leaves We ate like mf'n KINGS!! Each and every dish was spectacular- even the greens! While we should have gone with the small sized lobster, I'm proud to say we went down with an honorable fight. Lmao!! The lobster was cooked to perfection- meat was sweet, succulent, and so darn tender. The garlic noodles soaked up all of the delicious lobster flavors and were not overcooked and mush. The bo luc lac was flavorful, juicy, and complimented the bed of lettuce, onions, & tomatoes so well. The snow pea leaves weren't tough and old- this truly was a simply yet magical dish. Service was on point and the staff continually came by to swap out our plates full of lobster shells. Above all, there was no wait with our initial arrival. Parking is easy given the fact that BL has a pretty big parking lot specifically for them. 5/5 stars!! We dropped over 3 bills here and it didn't even hurt. Lmao- this place is that damn good! Don't sleep on this joint, y'all. Boston Lobster is the real deal when it comes to authentic Chinese/Vietnamese cuisine. This spot should be so much more hyped than it actually is!

However, if you want to try something a little different, there are some "traditional" Kaiping specialties that I haven't seen on menus anywhere else. I've always come with my family and have received great service because my dad knows the staff. They speak my home dialect so I'm sure there's some bias there. Foodwise, I've tried quite a bit and haven't had any dishes that didn't hit the mark for me. Standouts for me are the big claypot yellow eel rice, their specialty roast goose (the 2 dishes just listed may require a preorder but again, my dad usually handles all the ordering), their beansprout with pig intestine, and their egg plant with salted fish. The claypot rice is ordered by the kilo so really is a big party dish but has nice succulent pieces of eel, really well cooked rice, and then of course the crispy rice at the bottom. The goose is very flavorful and not super gamey, it has more of a meaty texture and bite than the younger poultry an American pallette may be used to so word of warning. I really like the beansprout with pig intestine, again not really gamey but very savory with very tender, fatty pieces of intestine (highly recommend even if you're hesitant with intestine). The eggplant with salted fish is also intensely savory with a pungency from the salted fish that may seem like a lot but melds really well with the sauce and overall flavor of the dish. Though I haven't tried every dish on their menu, I've tried quite a bit and can confidently say they'll bring out some tasty Chinese dishes.

The dishes are as follows: Winter Melon Soup Sautéed Sole Fillet with Crispy Bone Peking Duck Crispy Fried Chicken String Beans with Minced Pork Braised Bean Curd with Brown Sauce Peking Style Pork Chop Fried Fish Fillet w Sweet Corn Sauce Minced Chicken and Salted Fish with Bean Curd Chicken and Salted Fish Fried Rice The grand total was about $270 plus I gave a $55.00 tips. The total charge was $330.00. I was happy. We go to other places for a thousand dollars a table, and I do not know what we ate that justified the charge. This place is packed for Saturday lunch. Beware since this place is in a strip mall, the parking is limited. That is why we always eat at 11:00 am just when they open their doors. Good foods, good value always bring loyal customers. My parents have been talking about how good this place is and usually I'm skeptical about their tastes, but they were right for once. We ordered a lot, but here's what I ate since I didn't eat everything at the table. Westlake beef soup: One of my favorite soups. Really good! Clean tasting (as in no funky meaty gamey flavors). Perfect consistency. Beef chow fun (with gravy): Normally I like the dry version only, but my brother wanted the gravy version and honestly it was really tasty. The beef was velveted perfectly, the gravy/sauce was silky, and the distinct taste of wok hei shined through. Might consider doing the gravy version more often now. French style beef: Wow, this was SO good. They stir in thai basil with it so it's extra aromatic. Again, perfectly seasoned and cooked cuts of beef. This is definitely a must order. Salt and pepper squid: One of my must-haves at any Cantonese spot. It was really good, but me being nitpicky, I've had better elsewhere. With that being said, I would still order this here for sure. Seafood chow mein: Not a fan of chow mein, but it was honestly pretty good. If you're like chow mein, I would definitely recommend this even as someone who doesn't care for it. The flavor is all there, the chow mein was crunchy, the gravy was nice. No complaints, tbh. Sweet deep fried pork chops: Not really sure what to call this, but I did not like this at all. I don't care for sweet and sour pork chops and this is pretty similar to that minus the Red 40. Minor complaints: The dinnerware was a little greasy which was kinda gross. I saw a thin film of oil in my tea cup, so I grabbed a new one. Service was slow, but friendly. I guess they didn't anticipate getting that busy in the middle of the week. Overall it was a very satisfying and delicious meal. As everyone has already stated, the portions here are big and the prices are reasonable. Would I come back? It's a bit far, so I don't think I would on my own. However, if my family wanted to dine here, I personally wouldn't have any apprehensions about coming back.

During the day they serve dim sum, and at night they switch over to Cantonese seafood dishes. I've eaten here many times for dim sum. They offer both traditional sit down service and a takeout counter in the front if you're in a hurry. The dim sum is solid and definitely hits the spot. Since I live nearby, it's one of those convenient spots I find myself coming back to. This visit was for dinner. We ordered a fish dish that was pretty interesting (honestly not sure what the exact name was), an oyster omelet, and clams with basil. Everything was tasty and definitely made me go through a couple bowls of rice. One thing I always appreciate is that they still give complimentary dessert at the end of the meal. We got green bean soup and some ma lai gao, which was a nice way to finish dinner. Overall, Ocean Bo is one of those neighborhood gems that has stood the test of time. It may not be the trendiest restaurant around, but it's reliable, serves good Cantonese food, and keeps the locals coming back.

We arrive around 2pm and there was no wait. You order off a form and the food arrives quickly because they have most of it pre-made and ready for take out in the back. Here are my thoughts on the following: - har gow: decent and STUFFED with shrimp - siu mai: super juicy and probably the best siu mai I've ever had - shrimp rice roll: decent, nothing to write home about - ham sui gok (deep fried meat dumpling): good, but not as airy as I like them, but still good - soy sauce chow mein: super bland - egg tarts: one of them was perfect, the other two were too runny like they hadn't been set properly, but the custard was sweet and balanced perfectly with the flaky crust - egg yolk bun: my bf really liked these, but I thought the filling was a tad too grainy for my liking All in all, I was pretty impressed with Ocean Bo and would recommend.
