Ikea is like a trip in itself. It's such a large place that gives you so many ideas on your future or current home. It has everything, and while you are there, you might as well grab a bite! I typically plan my Ikea trips to grab breakfast which ends at 11am for $2. Then I get my free coffee or drink using my family ikea card. Don't worry, if you don't have one, you can grab one at the entrance at the kiosk and sign up for free. If I plan to go later, I always grab my Swedish meal balls meal ($6), or if I just want a snack, I get the kids meal ($3). Then once again, use my family card for a free drink. The quality is the food isn't the best, but I like it for the convenience and cheapness. I've tried most of the menu, and I think the only really delicious meal is their Swedish meatballs. Not worth going just to the restaurant. Not a great place for a date, unless you are further along thinking about moving-in together and this is a snack on the way. Came here on a Sunday as we were shopping and stopped by the Ikea restaurant for dinner. It is 6:00pm, and it is still pretty empty. Before, $20-25 would feed a family of 4 along with appetizers and dessert. The restaurant would also be packed. Right now the prices have gone up significantly. The Swedish meatballs cost $9.99 for 8 meatballs, and the chicken thigh costs $11.99. The only reasonable prices were the kids mac and cheese for $2.49 a plate. Our total came out to be $29.72 with no drinks or dessert. They serve the food like how school cafeterias have it. But for close to $30 and still leaving unsatisfied, I didn't think it was reasonable and it makes it our last time to eat here. Positives: The staff was friendly, and we don't have to pay tip since we put away our own plates and utensils. They advertise saying Ikea family members get 5% discount, and they place it all over the tables. However, we showed them our Ikea family card and did not receive any discount eating here. You can never go wrong with food at Ikea. Cheap, yummy, and flavorful. The Swedish meatballs are an absolute must every time I go. Tastes great with the gravy and I always mix the lingonberry sauce with the mashed potatoes and gravy/meatballs and it's a great flavor combination. I remember when Ikea first opened, I used to come for breakfast with my newly retired dad. He loved coming here but I dont know why I stopped coming. Today we came by for a quick couple of items and decided to stop for dinner. I had the salmon fillet dinner and it is very good. I also noticed that they had a vegan hot dog which I also tried. Parking is plentiful and really the food here is ok but I wouldn't consider it super amazing. Recently had their chicken artichoke dinner which was $4.00 but the chicken is very dry and should have some gravy on top of it. The mashed potatoes are pretty tasty and you can add $1.00 a soda or juices from the machine. Also it's unlimited refills for the drink! Linessss... everywhere but they move along. Everything on the menu is super affordable. It is more like cafeteria food than an actual restaurant but can't complain about the food or the taste. If you are an IKEA Family member, you'll receive a coupon in your email for a free birthday meal with your choice of either a slice of almond cake or daim cake. As the worker was restocking the cake display, there was only the almond cake and so I asked if there were any more daim cake in the back. She helpfully went to check in the back and grabbed a tray full of them to restock! So if you are ever saddened that they are out of something, just ask nicely. They may just not have had the time to restock it as they are super busy. Free coffee/tea also if you are an IKEA Family member. They even had a half & half dispenser. They totally understand me, and it cuts down on waste for those individual half & half mini cups. Their tray cart is also ingenuous! Carrying multiple trays of food and drinks around is not the easiest task, especially those with families, but grab yourself a tray cart and you're on your way! IKEA really thinks of everything. Due to the busy-ness of the restaurant, it may take awhile to find an empty table. When you are finished with your meal, make sure to grab your tray (or cup if you only have that) and place it in one of the metal tray holders, in the middle closed off section. read more

Covid Review The Ikea restaurant is perfect for an after maze running shopping spree snack/meal. It's located on the 2nd floor of the store. I'm glad it's open now, as it was closed earlier during the lockdown. It's also very affordable! During these unprecedented times, the restaurant has pivoted to a to go restaurant. You are first provided an order form at the table as you walk in, then you bring it directly to the hot case area to prepare your meal. Finally, you are directed to the restaurant cashier to pay. There is no other food sections available for self serve, only the hot case area) via the order form, they get everything for you. FREE WATER BOTTLES!! They offered free water bottles at the salad bar area before the cashier. There wasn't a posted limit, but got one per person. The order menu is a bit limited but has most of the hot food (Swedish meatball meal, salmon, garlic bread, Mac n cheese), a few desserts and a few sides. Swedish meatball meal - came with 8 meatballs with great texture, seasonal veggies (mushy broccoli) and a scoop of mashed potato with gravy. Chocolate cake - always a fave! This is yummy! A nice sized 3 layer slice. Sometimes I just get the cake! Solid 3.5--not so much for the food but I guess for the affordability. For the price you pay, you definitely can't expect gourmet food but it's not terrible... nonetheless I am still a fan! There's really nowhere else that you can spend $5 or less to sit down and eat a full meal. The Swedish meatballs are about $4, and a plate comes with mashed potatoes and gravy, steamed vegetables, and lingonberry sauce. For $1 more, you can add another 4 meatballs and this is definitely enough food for two people to share if neither are starving. You can get a plate of fries for $2 and these come out hot and slightly crispy. I also quite enjoyed the cheesecake that you can just grab out of the dessert fridge. It wasn't too sweet due to the tartness of the berry swirl. My friends also grabbed some chocolate cake and devoured it so I guess that must be decent as well. I want to come back and try breakfast one day. They have a great selection of sparkling waters, Icees, soft serve, Cinnabon's and many other desserts! If you have kids, be ready for the candy bar (similar to the sweet factory.) This review is more so for the service. I've been to the IKEA in Costa Mesa several times and their lines are always incredibly long and move slowly. While the lines aren't small at the West Covina location, they move fast! The workers were so helpful and quick. On today's visit (a little before 11 am, barely making it before breakfast stopped being served), my husband and I ended up getting: Small Breakfast, $1 prior to tax- This small breakfast comes with a side of potatoes, eggs and 2 chicken sausages. I thought the eggs and potatoes were good. The chicken sausage was just average. But for the price, I can't complain. Swedish American Breakfast, $2 prior to tax- The difference between the Swedish American Breakfast and the Small Breakfast (besides the added $1) is an addition of 2 thin pancakes (very thin like crepes). My husband enjoyed his breakfast and thought everything was good for the most part (but would have preferred pork sausage). If you want strawberry syrup (with actual pieces of strawberries in it), it is on the side that you can add on to your pancakes yourself. Almond Chocolate Cake, $1.99 prior to tax- Found in the refrigerated case, the first thing that you see when you line up for any hot food items. This chocolate cake really caught my eye and decided to get it. I loved how soft this cake was. Eating this cake reminded me of eating a soft candy bar (but there is some texture to the cake with nuts). Nordic Mousse, $1.99 prior to tax- This little dessert also caught my eye because it was just so pretty (eat with your eyes first). I ended up liking this dessert a little more than the almond chocolate cake just because it was a little lighter. Overall, a great deal for a furniture store cafe. Service was fast and easy. Got to the cashier, and only one cashier was attending. There were about 5 parties in line before me. But the line moved fairly fast. Adding one more associate with this line would have been ideal. Overall value, service, and environment, just minus one star. Food is good. I could get a large take home refillable beverage for 99 cents elsewhere, but settled for the 12 Oz glass of bottomless in-house Pepsi products. The cafe downstairs in the market area has 16 ounce to-go cups. Why are those here? They have the option for a plastic water cup, which isn't a sustainable practice. So I highly recommend going to a different washable cup for water service to differentiate who paid for a fountain beverage. I seriously consider driving all the way out to Ikea just to eat here. Their Swedish meatballs are EVERYTHING! they come with a scoop of mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean medley, and that amazing lingonberry sauce. I always get this with a side of mac n cheese, with a piece of cornbread. Yummy! They have a ton of other foods like chicken tenders with fries, wraps, salmon salad, regular salad, cheesecake, chocolate cake, etc. It's a food court setting. So you get in line, grab a tray, grab foods from the refrigerators, order at the counter. Then pay and grab silverware and drinks. Only down side is this place gets super busy on weekends. Finding a table to sit can be annoying... so I tend to end up sharing a table with strangers that have extra seats at their table lol. read more

IKEA, they have everything you need for your home. From the kitchen, bath, living, and bedroom, IKEA has your back. Not only do they have things for your rooms, but they also have things for you! They thought about the consumer! The cafeteria located on the second floor greets you as you enter the store. You can see the large menu prominently displayed inviting you in. Unfortunately the pictures don't match the actual dish at times. Rarely have I ever tried anything other than their meatballs. The Swedish meatballs are definitely my go to choice, but the chicken and vegetable options are nice to have. Their salads seem small and lack the IKEA love. The chicken tenders look really hard, and not nearly as appetizing as one would hope. If you're feeling thirsty, and in need of something to quench your thirst, they offer an array of soft drinks, teas and coffees. The most unique being the lingonberry juice that you must try! It's a strong flavor that is similar to cranberry, but not as tangy! But my love for the Swedish meatballs are strong and pure, thus IKEA, you win the four stars solely for that dish!
