Stopped by the IKEA Restaurant because we were craving their famous Swedish meatballs. We went on a Friday and we had heard that they did 50% off for members but unfortunately they only offer it with student ID now. We did have a student id with us but it is a bummer that it no longer is offered for everyone. All of the staff were nice and the service is cafeteria style so you get your food quick. We went midday and unfortauneyly some items like their side salads were gone and didn't get restocked. We ended up ordering Swedish meatballs, fish balls, and Mac and cheese. This was my very first time trying out this restaurant. What is wrong with me? I've lived here for almost 25 years and I only always check out the furniture, not the food. I regret it! But now that I've tried it out, I'm very much aware of what I missed out on. The food is priced almost like it was in the early 2000s. Swedish meatballs for $3.99? My husband and I got the lox salad (forgot the cost) but it all came to a little over $20. Not bad! We left full. The whole place is so clean and inviting. My expectations weren't too high so I was pleasantly surprised by the texture. Not too mushy and the flavor itself was fine but obviously better when dipped in the gravy and jam. This was paired with a scoop of mashed potatoes and green peas. I also tried a bite of the smoked salmon salad. I did not like the smoked salmon - and this is coming from someone who enjoys sushi. The texture was way too slimy for me and it was incredibly fishy-tasting. Maybe the squeeze of lemon would've saved it but I did not want to try it again after that first initial piece. I got the 12 pc meatball, which came with mash potatoes, peas, and a jelly sauce. The mash potatoes and peas were okay. The meatballs were definitely the highlight of the dish. Every day: Get 15% off Swedish Restaurant purchases after 5 p.m. I took my daughters one time on Wednesday after school for afternoon tea and both of them were free and I only bought one adult entree (only on Wednesday). We also went there on a Friday because they were off school. I always like their Swedish meatballs with gravy and lingonberry sauce (I like sweet & savory taste), and mashed potatoes with a lot of gravy. Chicken tenders were big and crispy. Mac N Cheese was also pretty good. However, we all didn't like their rainbow cake. It looked attractive but tasted not good and it was way too sweet. It's also nice to take a walk after eating. You need to walk around and around just to find the exit and build an appetite. Parents, bring the strollers and water bottles. Be prepared to see fun toys. The store itself was clean for 6 pm at night. The bathrooms were ok. But do appreciate the family oriented details like seating area with projected games. Located inside of the IKEA store, on Barranca. Lots of available parking. We haven't been to IKEA in years, what is new addition to us is the Swedish restaurant. Yes, it's been a long time since we've been back, but we wanted to try dinner here since our friends told us about it. The line wasn't too long. You get the little cart to help carry all your food items. Our family picked two Swedish (8) meatball meals, which comes with gravy on top of the mashed potatoes and meatballs, peas and jam/jelly, then a plant based very for my husband who is on lent and the salmon meal which comes with a different version of mashed potatoes on the side shaped into a circle. Plus, the unlimited sodas, which we got Sierra Mist cola and raspberry tea. The seating are seem opened with the wide windows overlooking the city.
