I came here on a date and this place was popping. It was crowded but in a fun way. The bar constantly had people rotating and most tables were full. Definitely take out a reservation if you want to come here. This place has a magnificent New Orleans style that seems like out of a movie. My date and I got the crawfish beignets as an appetizer and then for my main I actually had the barbecue shrimp from the appetizers. It is plenty of food for a person's meal. It comes with rice and bread as well as 4 full sized shrimp in a beautiful sauce. My date got what Jack and Harry's is known for the steak and frites. It's been a while since I've found a great new restaurant. Today I had lunch at Jack & Harry's for the first time and it was awesome. It was lunch so I only ordered something light - the crab cake and salad but the crab cake was excellent with huge chunks of crab. The salad and dressing were first class and fresh, delicious ingredients and I'm a guy so I never notice those things. It also came with a whole avocado cut into quarters which I enjoyed. The decor of this restaurant is superb. Lots of brown leather, nice furnishings and decor. There is a classy looking bar along with a lot of seating in the dining area. Service was so welcoming and attentive. This place look to have a lot of steak options so I'll definitely be back for dinner another time to sample the meat. I only have two tips. The after dinner was too diluted, it looks like tea. And the restaurant is very loud so it was hard to hear each other clearly. Otherwise, this is an awesome steakhouse option in the Park Cities when you don't want to drive too far! read more

The ambiance in this place is great! Very well decorated and busy for a week night! Everything started out well, great and quick service. Appetizer of the oysters and our martini were all delivered quick and hot. Both were delicious. Our entrees were also great. The crust on the steak frites and the sauce on top was delicious. The steak frites were great with the exception that I had a long hair in my fries. I was enjoying the meal spectacularly until then. After that it seemed to go downhill. It took a long time for us to be able to order dessert. When we did they brought the wrong one so then we wait for the right dessert to be brought. The cheesecake tasted fantastic! Again, it took us a long time to get our bill and we were charged for that incorrect dessert that they brought out. Throughout the 2nd half night our water glasses were consistently low or empty. The food was great (with an exception) but the service felt lacking. I would return but would likely go somewhere else before I went back here again. read more

Was meeting some friends for dinner but decided to stop in early for the happy hour. Let's start with drinks- I started with the French Martini but didn't like it at all so I switched it out for a lemon drop. I was intrigued by the limoncello foam but, in my opinion, it doesn't really do anything for the drink. The drink itself could've been more balanced by not too bad. The star of the show was definitely the crispy oysters- got both the rockefeller and st. claude and they were nothing short of amazing. They are the best oysters that I've had in a long time and would go back for that. When my friends arrived, I wasn't hungry enough for a meal so i got a spicy little gem and some french fries. I really liked the french fries but as someone who loooveeess caesar salads, it didn't really do it for me. It was definitely spicy though. Had a great time dining at Jack & Harry's. The restaurant is great for a date night or a little group dinner. It can get a little loud though. Our favorite appetizer was the bbq shrimp, it's like a Cajun gravy with huge prawns and rice and bread. The stuffed mushrooms and the truffle Mac and cheese were also good too. The steak frites had a huge pile of horse string fries crisped to perfection. My medium rare steak was amazing and also the sauce on top. For $40 bucks it's a pretty good deal. We ended the night with dessert and the visuals were crazy. The banana foster cheesecake was decent, it's more of a grainy cheesecake compared to a NYC styled one. The ice cream sandwich was far better and reminded me of an adult ice cream sandwich. Service was great and nice. Would come back with friends for sure. read more

Finally got to try this place after reading so many reviews. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary there today with lunch. I must say for us, it was an excellent experience. The food was phenomenal and the service was exceptional. We had reservations and were seated promptly. It was our first time here. Our server Zane surprised us with complimentary champagne for our celebration. Champagne was high quality, cold and bubbly. He gave us some great suggestions from the menu. He was very polite and professional. I recommend asking for him if you want great and attentive service. We ordered sourdough bread with butter and house made strawberry jam. It was served warm melted in butter. Very good. For starters, my husband ordered lobster bisque. He had huge chunks of lobster inside the soup and it was served piping hot. He said it was one of the best he's ever tasted. I ordered seafood gumbo. It was served hot and filled with meat. It was more like a gravy than gumbo, but it was flavorful. For our entree we both ordered the Parmesan crusted snapper with smoked mozzarella ravioli in a butter cream sauce. No salt or pepper needed. The flavor was amazing. It was hot and delicious. I was so happy that everything exceeded expectations. When I go to fine dining restaurants I want to get what I pay for. I want my food served hot, flavorful and delicious. And I want great service. I got everything I wanted and more. Zane also surprised us with a complimentary dessert called the knife and fork chocolate cookie ice cream dish. OMG, it was incredible. It was fantastic. It was fresh, it wasn't something they just happened to get out of the freezer. It was made day of. I'm a true foodie and I know good food. We will definitely be going back. When you walk in it's quite loud but the decor is gorgeous. We were late for our reservation but they were able to seat us in their full dining room. Our server was so sweet and attentive, she helped us through the menu for our first time. Made recommendations and offered us new drinks when we said we didn't enjoy our original choice. We went for our sister's birthday and got a two small salads while our sister went all out with their delicious steak frites. The Harry's Salad was super fresh and delicious! We were obsessed with the white truffle crayfish Mac and cheese that was big enough to share with the 3 of us. Oftentimes restaurants work better when they are full. Had the shrimp PoBoy. Coleslaw is great! Love to have the recipe! PoBoy tasted like a dill pickle PoBoy. I love seeing new restaurants in Snider Plaza! It is such a great community space for all ages and seeing fresh spaces open is always so exciting. The feel is so lounge, classy with an older feel, LOVE! The bar is beautiful, the staff has always been very kind and the food is very good. However, it is not as good as the price demands. The martinis are incredible, and their FRIES are the best. I have been in several times just for those two things and regret nothing. I really hope this place stays! read more

We had an absolutely terrible experience. We arrived at our reservation time only to be told we had to wait for an undetermined amount of time. The bar was packed and there was nowhere to wait. Eventually I went back to check after maybe 20 minutes and the hostess was trying to call me - meaning they didn't even try to come find us. Then we ordered - my husband ordered the wedge salad but it came out as a pile of shredded iceberg - no actual wedge. I ordered the Caesar salad and it was so heavily dressed it was practically inedible. (I said this to the waiter and he said he would let the chef know.) Then we got our entrees and they were both terrible. We asked for the check after one bite and the waiter brought it without even asking us what was wrong or if we wanted to order something else. He didn't even ask if we wanted to-go boxes for the full, uneaten meals on our plates. Mario just left the $200+ check without a word. The martinis were good. But not $19.99 good. read more

Food - I'll focus on two dishes: the BBQ Shrimp and the Steak Frites. The BBQ Shrimp was as good as Emeril's. The shrimp was plump, and the "BBQ" sauce was savory with a hint of smoke and sweet. It was perfectly paired with dirty rice (which I thoroughly mixed together). The delicious dish also came with toast points which my children quickly commandeered so I didn't get a chance to taste them. My main dish was the Steak Frites. This is a tender hanger steak topped with an herb sauce and fries. The steak was perfectly grilled, but the fries. Oh my. Perhaps the best fries ever topped on a steak. Just look at the photos, describing it here won't do it justice. The only knock are the prices. It's not cheap, but it sure is good. 1 1/2 Stars. Will I Return? - Only when I'm craving BBQ Shrimp - which means I'll probably only return about once a year. Jack & Harry's has an amazing atmosphere, service, and food. Ambiance is great. The food was good. The service was lackluster. I always have the opinion that it is not hard to cook a steak. You do not need to be classically French trained to do this. Starting this review by saying this place is so elegant yet cozy and the food was delicious. Upon arrival, our table wasn't quite ready, so my fiancé and I decided to sit at the bar. We ordered dirty martinis, and I can confidently say it was one of the best I've had in Dallas. Our server was exceptional as she was very attentive, knowledgeable about the menu and its ingredients, and offered great recommendations. The steak tartare was a standout, served New Orleans-style with all the right accoutrements. Both of our steaks were cooked to perfection--juicy, flavorful, and exactly as we requested. Although we didn't opt for dessert, the espresso martini was a unique twist that you won't find in many places. Overall, the experience was fantastic, and the prices felt fair for the quality. Took out of town couple several weeks ago. Ladies enjoyed the two different fish offerings, husband had a petite filet, and we all raved about the sourdough bread. Caesar and wedge salads were good although smallish for the price. For a change, I tried the Rigatoni Bolognese. It was honestly the best I have ever enjoyed. It was also so small it was a joke. My friend's wife asked if I had gotten it as an appetizer. We all looked at this and wondered what was going on. I have had lots of experience with Meals on Wheels (volunteer driver) and this would be almost as small as the entree portion of those dinners. At $31 or thereabouts, it now takes my prize for the most overpriced, under served order I have seen. And such a shame as it was excellent. They could have doubled the pasta portion and held firm on the bolognese and it still would have been excellent. Will seriously rethink a return visit. So very disappointed. But as I think about other Vandelay restaurants, this should not really be surprising. read more

Lovely Sunday brunch experience. The atmosphere, service, and food made for a special day. Very relaxing on a Sunday. Not noisy. We conversed easily, even with a fair amount of diners in the establishment. Calamari was tender inside, light and crispy outside. Crab cakes were moist and flaky inside, encased in a delightful crust. The trout dip - very yummy appetizer. Eat with the recommended green Tobasco sauce! .
