What a disaster, and its a shame, because its a prime location with a beautiful eating lounge that you likely spent a fortune on, and your staff and your lack of training them properly is going to run it into the ground. You get two stars for the location and that dining room. First and foremost, this location is backwards. Every Jersey Mike's I've ever been to starts with the slicer on the left. You guys messed up designing this one. Oops? Now, to be fair, I've been a loyal JM's fan for life. I've been eating at the one over at Van Nuys and Burbank for the better part of the last decade. That one is top-notch and 5-star. This one, not so much. I was nearby and noticed it and decided to stop. I almost went behind the dumpster and purged afterwards. The employee slicing seemingly had no idea how to slice, and he almost dropped our sandwiches when moving them to the other side of the slicer (remember that bit about the bar being backwards?). Now, this is where it gets frustrating. We ordered two sandwiches, but being a seasoned customer, know exactly how we like them, and they're both the exact same way. Mayo, spicy mustard, Lettuce, tomato, extra pickles, vinegar, salt and pepper. No, it's not Mike's Way, but it's not friggin rocket science either. It's like if you say anything beside's "Mike's Way," they lose their ability to think and construct and need to be told repeatedly how to do something as simple as making a sandwich. While I'm trying to make sure this guy doesn't mess up the sandwiches (spoiler alert: he did!) another employee is buzzing in my ear about chips, drinks, and totals. While this is happening and I'm being shaken down for another 10-20% peer-pressure tip at the register, guess what? The sandwich maker doesn't put mayo on one, doesn't put spicy mustard on another, puts bacon on the wrong sandwich, all while I'm distracted dealing with the cash register fly. To top things off, the top of one of the sandwiches flipped over with mustard and avocado spread on it, and instead of immediately offering to replace it, he actually ASKED if we still wanted that one. I want that top as much as you want to lick that disgusting countertop that you kids probably never clean properly. But we weren't done, the drama isn't over! As the sandwiches were being wrapped at the end of the line, the person dropped it, quickly scrambled to scoop it all up and roll it into paper. It was at this point that I just had to pay and get out of there, or I was going to hurt someone. I could "taste" how bad this sandwich was. The meat was horrible, the bread was horrible, and of course it wasn't made the way I asked for it to be made. And you kids want $15/hour minimum wage? LOLOLOLOLOL. Why don't you ask a soldier coming back from Afghanistan how much he makes. Spoiler alert: It's not even $15/hr. Horrible service, horrible attitudes, and a horrible sandwich, all while being shaken down for 20% tip on a card at checkout for all of these things. Go to the one on Burbank Blvd at Van Nuys Blvd intersection. It's 5-star and the complete opposite. To the manager/owner of this one, I hope you pull it off, because it really is a nice location and layout with lots of seating. Excellent alternative to Chipotle nextdoor, but it's tanking with smug snotty employees that can't do something as menial as making a sandwich, and don't really want to be there. read more

Man, I don't even know where to start. Customer Service: Terrible. 4 people in uniform, but two people working. Other two were just talking to each other and one of the guys working was multitasking with making food and talking to his friend on outside of the counter, but at least he was still working. Order Accuracy: it was okay. Ordered 3 sandwiches and they gave me the wrong bread on one of them. Now I did not want to drive all the way back there so I dealt with it, but what if I has food allergies? Food: normally good but not at this location. I am a fan of this location. For the most part the workers here are very friendly and the food is always fresh and the really tasty! Way better than subway imo and me and my dad love to order subs from here. Also the chocolate chip cookie they sell is really good!! Place is clean and just overall a nice fast experience. Went there today and ordered a giant turkey sandwich. The gentleman gave me a paper thin layer of turkey. It was ridiculous. This sandwich costs over $14. These turkey slices cost them less than $0.10 per slice. Gelsons gives four times more meat in their sandwiches and costs $4 less than this sandwich. I will not be coming here again. I called today at 1141am to place a phone order with this location it was 3 separate orders and when I arrived 25 mins later for pickup they could not find my order under the name I provided "ANA" then they proceed to read off a quick description of the order which didn't exactly match what I ordered so I said no, then they kept trying diff variations of my order and again were half wrong so I answered "no" then finally the person I supposedly spoke with originally came forward and said I took your order and repeated it was completely wrong, then the employee a man chimed in and started arguing with me because I was not saying yes to the orders they were describing when in fact they were wrong however he tried to make me feel like I was in the wrong by saying "no" to the incorrect order.... meanwhile they didn't even have my name the 3 sandwiches were completely wrong I was on a lunch break that's why I called in and didn't order in person to save time and after what I felt was an attack by one of the employees I didn't have time to sit there and regurgitate the order for the 2nd and wait for it to be corrected I was so appalled at the behavior that I will never return there again. its one thing to make a mistake its another when you're in the wrong and rude on top of it. I would like to start off by saying I enjoy the food and the location. Unfortunately I walked in at a time that was inconvenient. Their grill area was already off when we arrived and all I wanted was a Hot Philly Sub from Jersey Mike's. Well being that it's 830 on ventura Blvd, on a budget, with a friend, I ate there. I got the Roast Beef J.M style. I am just really disappointed that the sandwich was slopped together, and the lack of quality due to these employees that just wanted to get out early. I've worked in food a long time and know the ropes. I hope they acheive better customer service skills to improve the reputation of this fine establishment. read more

Being called "Darling" and "Honey" by the Cashier was a bit much, but fine. It was one of the 3 people making my sandwich. When I asked for mustard, he poured about a half of cup of it on the bread. Obviously too much. I asked if he could remove most of it. He grabbed the piece of bread and went to the back. I assumed he was getting a fresh roll. Instead he appeared to have "Scraped" the mustard off leaving a deep and rather "unappealing" roll. It still had mustard on it, which had spilled on the sides of the bread and they continued to make the sandwich. His facial hair (which did not have a net), was the first thing I noticed, then to actually return a piece of scraped out bread was embarrassing, unprofessional and profoundly unappealing. I tossed the sandwich away and decided they all need a "attitude check". The orders are never ready when I submit them on the app and the staff makes mistakes on pick up orders all the time. I love Jersey Mike's so I continued to give this location a chance however after my most recent visit, my Single #7 sandwich wasn't ready in a full hour after ordering and there was a swarm around the pick up area from slow service so I literally had to walk out of the location. Frustrating and a waste of time. After I had already left, a hour and 15 minutes after placing the order, I call the location to cancel the order and the manager tells me it's ready. Lol. Never going here again. It's pretty clear the management of this location don't look at a single review... or maybe they do and still don't care to improve the service. Really doesn't make sense. I had a horrible experience at this location. I came in with a coupon for a free sub due to a bad experience from another location. Today I order a turkey sandwich and asked for avocado. When I gave my coupon, the girl wanted to charge me more money. I told her I thought it was included, however she began to give me attitude and tell me "are you stupid any place you go they charge you for avocado". WOW! Still being polite, I asked for another sandwich without avocado. She began to make it with such attitude and then I specifically said no salt and she puts salt. Then I tell her only vinegar, yet she goes and drenches my sandwich with oil. Not only is she making my sandwich wrong but all of the other employees begin laughing and insulting me and whispering to each other and making facial gestures. Once I sat down to eat, all I could hear was the employees making fun of me and calling me names and insulting me. As a customer sitting down and trying to eat my food, all I could think about is how much it hurts hearing these people say horrible things about me. I give up on Jersey Mikes. How lucky is Avalon Encino to have Jersey Mike's. I'm a Jerseygirl and I live very close by and I was counting the days for this place to open. I hit the place on the first night and to my amazement it was running like a fine tuned machine. I always get the #13 it's like soul food for me! I order mine Mike's Way plus pickles and hot peppers! I grew up eating subs or pizzas on Fridays nights in my house! This is comfort food! My only problem is resisting eating too many of them....it's not diet food!!! The place is so clean and organized, staff is super friendly...I'm wishing them well. If you never had a Jersey Sub this is the real deal!
