So I came here specifically looking for their Raw Marinated Crab and unfortunately they don't have the soy sauce version BUT their marinade was also very tasty and they provide gloves if you're worried about the mess! The portion size is very generous and I recommend coming with a small group of like 3-4 people so that you all can do family style with the dishes. The garlic green beans I enjoyed and my siblings were a fan of the double fried chicken wings with the soy garlic. Definitely a decent option for Korean food in the city! read more

I ordered the crunchy garlic soy fried chicken and HK style chow mein noodles with shrimp ( crispy noodles) and really appreciated the flavors. It's not overly salty or too rich. Try this place out! The owners are so kind and sweet, their food isn't too oily or overly salty which means its very home-style. My only concern for take-out is that they didn't allow the chicken to stay crunchy (maybe let it airout for 3-5 minutes) before packing the food. My order was soggy and the noodles were a half soggy-crisp that also faced the same fate as the chicken. The chicken is said to be double fried? So I'm surprised it got so soggy. I didn't see any condensation on the packaging so maybe it wasn't fried enough to a crisp. I would suggest asking for the noodle's sauce to be on the side. Or using thinner chow mein noodles as typical HK cafe's would do can help getting the noodles crisper. I see so much potential in this business! It smells great inside the restaurant and one day I might eat in for the maximum experience. I can't wait to try the jajjangmyun and tangsuyk. read more

Came here twice and I already can't wait for the next time! What do I say that hasn't already been said?? Food is so delicious and the raw crab makes not only a delectable, but fun, experience as well! Portions did seem to get smaller the second time I came, but still a wonderful meal with decent prices! -garlic green beans: self explanatory! Crunchy and fresh -chicken wings: weren't as crispy as the first time I tried it, but flavor is there and still delicious! -honey walnut shrimp: this shocked all of us as one of our top favorites! Cooked perfectly, thick enough batter (but not too thick!), crunchy, and the right amount of sauce! -raw crab: fresh and so creamy! Love eating this with rice and seaweed -jjamppong : a little too spicy for me, but it was dang good! If you can handle heat, I'd totally recommend! It's so hard to find Korean Chinese fusion restaurants! It's so nostalgic for me and so I love to try every one I find. Especially if it's a small business. I think this place is fairly new? Everything we had tasted really good, the portions are huge, the prices are great especially for the portion, and the service is amazing! The owner even gave us a free side of potstickers! Very sweet lady. What we ordered: 1. Double fried chicken - wished the chicken was more crispy? 4/5 2. Seafood noodle soup - not as spicy as it traditionally is? But my main issue was there were a lot of onions, more than noodles. 3/5 3. Sweet and sour pork - so tender! I wish the sauce was served in the side even though that's not the traditional way to serve this dish. But the sauce makes the batter soften quickly. 5/5 4. It's a small unassuming spot, but is one of the few places that serves spicy raw marinated crab in the bay area! It was fresh and the marinate of green onions and veggies it came in was delicious, and had me eating that with rice after all the crab was gone. Seen this place all over my tiktok and instagram for their raw marinated crab, & it did not disappoint. Everything else on the menu is pretty basic Chinese food. My boyfriend & I ordered the raw marinated crab, chicken fried rice, chicken wings, & the jjajangmen. We both prefer the chicken wings & jjajangmen from San Tung, but if you're interested in trying the raw marinated crab, i would recommend this place. It comes with white rice & seaweed so you can make your own little wrap. My partner and I have gone to Jjamppong maybe 4 times? Each time we get the raw marinated crab and salt and pepper chicken wings. We've also really enjoyed their garlic string beans!! The food here is so delicious and made excellent each time. The service is fast and super friendly. The restaurant is simple and very clean. We came here for our anniversary lunch and it was so crowded. The wait was 30 mins or more but it was the weekend and it was a small place. The owner and workers were really nice to us. We ordered spicy raw crab, black bean noodles and fried chicken with garlic sauce. Everything came out super fast and the food was delicious! They are known for their spicy crab and it was my first time. I love the sauce, enough sweet and spices. They also gave us rice and seaweed to eat with the crab. I highly recommended this place. This is our go to place for Jjamppong (red spicy seafood soup), tangsooyuk (sweet and sour chicken or pork) and jjajangmyun (black bean noodles with veggies and minced pork or beef). Family owned business and their service is AMAZING. One time the owner walked me to my car with my large order of food I picked up. They're very kind and we eat here at least 3 times a month. They have seating and nice tables with space. Not too loud and there's a diversity of people eating here: foodies, local neighbors, older adults, families, and young professionals looking for some good Korean Chinese food. read more

New place (just opened one month ago per restaurant team member) with a Korean flair. Cabbage Kim Chee and marinated radish came with whatever you order. Hot tea. We ordered Jajang noodles (sauce a bit thin), vegetables, and the soy garlic based sauce chicken wings. We were tempted to order the salt and pepper fish or sweet and sour fish, but my daughter wanted the 12 piece double fried chicken wings. The best was the chicken but I forgot to take a photo. Prices are moderate, hospitality and friendly service were good! Their website menu was different than their restaurant menu because we wanted to try their stone pot bibimbap but wasn't available. On my way home from SFO I decided to pick up food from two different places and this was one of them. I saw on instagram that they served raw crab and that's my current obsession. I ordered online through door dash. They had a bunch of different kinds of food which threw me off because they also served Chinese cuisine. But this was the correct place. I ordered the spicy raw crab and the jaja mein noodles. The meal came with a radish and kimchi side dish, rice, and a package of seasoned seaweed. The spicy raw crab was so good. It was spicy, like a kimchi flavor but spicy, the meat was soft, and really really good. The jaja mein was ok. I ordered two today from two different restaurants and the other one tasted better. I still think it wasn't bad though. I would like to come back but for the raw crab though and I think the amount we received was worth $31. read more

Had a delicious dinner at JJamPPong. We were a party of four promptly seated early on a busy Friday night. Hot tea was placed on the table. We ordered crispy garlic shrimp (AMAZING), beef with broccoli, pork with green beans and chicken chow fun. The plates are huge and we had plenty of leftovers which our waiter boxed for us. My friends and I often bemoaned the lack of exceptional Korean eateries in the city, but after eating at JjamPpong we changed our minds. This is it! The food was awesome - authentic, no-frills, homey, and large portions. I got a large hangover soup, which is essentially jjamppong without noodles. It was really tasty and full of clams, mussels, and all the good stuff: they definitely don't skimp on the seafood. My friends got the jjamppong (a HUGE bowl) and salt and pepper fish, which was the special of the day. Super tasty. Oh yeah, and their kimchi + pickled radish were awesome, and we got free oranges for dessert. June, who was serving us, was super attentive and kept refilling our side dishes and tea. She also gave us a side of rice for no extra charge which was so nice. We had come for my friend's birthday, so June brought out some bottles of soju and didn't charge us for them. She also took the time to learn our names and chat with us. We felt incredibly welcomed. Super good vibes. This place rocks. Would 100% recommend this place to anyone. If you can, try to dine in and chat with the owners/staff if they're not too busy. They're super nice and will make you feel cared for. read more

Whatever is in this food is close to crack (because whenever my family and I come here, we can't stop eating.) Wow this place lived up to the tiktok hype! I love that this is a small mom and pop shop and you can tell how much care and energy they put into their food. The male owner made sure to go around each table and explain how to eat the crab and asked if we needed anything additional like extra rice. I love that level of engagement in such a small establishment, I can easily see this as my weekly take out. For our table of 3 we ordered: Jjamppong Jajamyein Spicy Crab Double fried chicken wings Shrimp fried rice Garlic Green beans Everything we ate was so so good. Our favorites were the jjamppong, it was a huge portion and came out super hot. We all agreed that this is the best hot soup we've had in a really long time. Our next favorite was the chicken wings, we agreed that we liked it better than the famous san tungs and again, huge portions. We ended up taking over 50% of it home and was so excited to reheat the leftovers. This is such a hidden gem and will be back very very soon! read more

So good!! One of the more unique food flavours that I've had. The spicy raw crab dish tasted super fresh and loved the spicy profile. It's fun to eat with the seaweed paper and rice. The menu is pretty short which actually makes it much easier to decide. Beside the crab, we also got the fried chicken which had a nice thick crisp layer on the outside with a sticky garlicky coating. Lastly, we got their namesake dish, the jjampong soup. It was also very good, and I can say that it takes great the next day as well if you have leftovers. Never got to take any pictures of the first visit but we ordered the jajangmyeon and the HK style chow mein. SO delicious! I then ordered the spicy raw marinated crab later on through Uber Eats and they hooked me up with some free deep fried dumplings, a LOT of vacuum sealed kimchi & picked radish! If anything, their customer service is definitely a 100/10. They were so sweet and humble when I first dined with them in person and they still extend that same love even through online orders!! They deserve everything and more! read more

Found this spot on Yelp after the kiddos hoop games at CCSF. Found easy street parking IFO the restaurant. Walked inside and there was a good crowd and the Dubs playoff game was on- good so far. We started off with the potstickers, which my kid wanted, and they were round! I took a double take but they were filled with kind of a kinchee infused meat- very good. We had the combo fried rice and chow mein HK-style. Small restaurant on a busy Street! It took a while for us to find parking, but the food was definitely worth the wait! The main dish to order here is the spicy raw crab. Friendly service. Restaurant was clean and has around 10 tables ; we were lucky to arrive at around 730pm on a Friday evening and was seated immediately. Their signature dishes included the spicy raw marinated crabs and fried chicken, which we ordered. I appreciated the gloves they provided because eating the raw crabs can get quite messy. I like spicy food but found them too spicy (disclaimer: that's my personal taste). The chicken was OK although we've had better Korean fried chicken in SF and the South Bay. read more

We're pretty sure that ownership of this restaurant must have changed since then. When we walked in and during the time we were there, we only saw one motorcyclist pick-up an order. There were no other guests. Our table was four adults and two kids. We all had different hunger levels so our order may be considered somewhat odd. Seafood Jun Pan-Fried Mondoo Army Stew Soy & Garlic Wings Mackerel Bibimbop Assortment of 8 Different Banchan (refills were offered) For the duration of our meal, we only saw the gentleman who took our order and served our food. Truffle Bosot Fry - These were fantastic. Each enoki was fried so the stems were splayed out and then dusted in truffle salt. Spicy Tuna Tower - This seemed like a popular item, but it was really disappointing. It was curious that they do not let you do half and half, since the sauces are likely pre-made and that is such a common option at most other KFC spots. The bigger issue was the fry on the chicken as huge pieces of batter were missing from every piece, and it did not have that signature shattering crunch I expect, which suggested the oil was not hot enough and that they did not double fry the chicken. The soy and garlic flavor was actually pretty good, so it was doubly disappointing that the chicken was not fried properly. Hwe-Muchim. - This dish was an absolute disaster. The cubes of fish and salad were absolutely drowning in cho-jang, and it was really unbalanced, so all you tasted was gochujang. The lettuce was so wilted under the sheer amount of liquid that it made the dish difficult to eat. I actually took this home, drained most of the liquid, rinsed off the fish, added fresh greens and a homemade dressing, and it tasted much better. The staff were friendly enough, but this place is clearly targeting a drinking or late-night crowd so I would avoid if your main goal is to enjoy the food itself. Seems like a fun enough place if you were just wanting to stop in and have some snacks with your drinks or as an end of night stop as the 4-cha or 5-cha (IYKYK).

It's great to come back as a tourist to enjoy what the area has to offer. On this day trip we took the Vallejo Ferry straight into Embarcadero. We love the hassle free trip and really enjoy the ride. Once in the city we simply walk throughout Pier 39, Fisherman's Wharf and into North Beach. The Buena Vista is an iconic spot dating back to the mid 1800's. It's great to pop in, have an Irish coffee, and enjoy the vibe. We got seated immediately at the bar. Service was great and everyone was enjoying futbol. San Francisco looks amazing! Shared a few photos to enjoy. Hope you get a chance to try. Highly recommended.

Who goes to Mission area to eat at a Chinese restaurant? Our friends has been paying the Uber to get to the mission district and hopefully after reading this and browsing through the foods, you will too. This isn't like the Chinese restaurants in China Town. Let's put it this way. Some people said they don't even eat at the Chinese restaurants in China Town because of cleanliness issues. Now it's not eating-off-the-floor clean here either, but you won't think twice when you walk in. It looks like it's newly opened. The server recommended the best dish of the day. CHICKEN FRIES (Grade A+) I first tried this dish and was so happy, ordered another to go. Here lightly batters and dry fries this dish to a golden brown. The edges are crispy like the last piece of a corndog -- the piece on the stick. My rookie taste buds detect soy sauce, sugar, garlic. You would think this would make the dish soggy and you would be wrong. Tangsuyuk (Grade A+) Pretty much a sweet and sour pork. You're meant to pour the sauce over the fried pork, but we opted to dip it instead so the sauce isn't over powering it or make it soggy. The coating on the fried pork almost have a chewy texture to it. Despite that, it doesn't have an oily or greasy feeling to it. I definitely recommend getting this dish and sharing it. Jjajangmyeon (Grade A+) Black bean noodles. The sauce was creamy and thick and coated the noodles evenly. The noodles had the perfect amount of chew. The portion was huge, and definitely fills you up. So good! JJamppong (Grade A+) Despite the intimidating fiery red color, it's not really that spicy. It was not fishy at all and the flavor was great. It's a complex balance of savory from the pork & seafood stew, spicy from the chili, and nuanced from the other seasoning like the garlic. I was browsing for a good spot to grab a bite in the area and noticed that Jjamppong is currently closed for the time being. But, well, here's a chance to jot down a review and get excited about their eventual reopening (November 8, 2023). I swung by Jjamppong earlier this year with a group of 10. The place isn't massive, but we managed to snag the biggest table tucked away in the corner. It fit us all comfortably. We may have been the rowdiest crew in the joint, but the staff was super chill and accommodating. Given our sizable group, we went with a family-style approach. While it's been a while, I can give you the lowdown on the dishes that left an impression: - Hot and Sour Soup (5/5): This was probably the best hot and sour soup I've ever had, and I'm not even a big fan of the stuff. - Double Fried Chicken Wings (4/5): They were good, crispy and all, but not exactly mind-blowing. - Jjamppong (5/5): This one surprised me. I usually don't go for it, but this place nailed it. - Jajang Mein (4/5): Pretty solid, but nothing that left a lasting memory. - Sweet & Sour Pork (Tangsuyuk) (4/5): This pairs well with the jajang mein, but I wouldn't say it's extraordinary. - Spicy Raw Crab: Full disclosure, I didn't try this one since it's not my thing, but my friends seemed to like it. I absolutely adore Korean-Chinese food, and I couldn't be happier that the fantastic JJamPPong is right down the block from me. San Tung on Irving had been my favorite for years despite the challenging parking and long drive to the Sunset. One standout dish at JJamPPong is their crispy garlic beef. Imagine tender beef, deep fried for a crispy exterior, tossed in a fragrant garlic sauce. It's my husband's favorite, and we keep ordering it because it is so great! My personal favorite, however, is the mussels with black bean sauce. The mussels are fresh and succulent, swimming in a rich, savory black bean sauce. The sauce is robust, slightly smoky, and deeply satisfying. While I thoroughly enjoy most of their offerings, I found their wontons to be a bit disappointing. Great wontons should be light and airy, with a delicate wrapper encasing a flavorful, well-seasoned filling. Unfortunately, the ones at JJamPPong were dense and heavy, lacking that texture I look forward to in a good wonton. Despite this minor setback, I frequent JJamPPong regularly, ordering takeout from them a few times a month. Their convenient location and exceptional dishes make it a favorite spot. read more

After being seated and placing our orders, we were promptly served hot tea, pickled radish, and kimchi to start our meal. The kimchi stood out with its crunchy texture and slightly sweeter flavor than other kimchi I've had, but it was still delicious! The jajangmyeon, once again, was the star of the show! This being my second visit, I couldn't resist ordering it again. The noodles are cooked perfectly - always al dente, never soggy. However, I did find myself wishing for more noodles, as there was way more sauce than noodles. The sauce itself is incredibly flavorful. The double-fried chicken wings were equally satisfying! My friends raved about the raw marinated crab dish that they are famous for. Unfortunately, I did not try the raw crab since I have a sensitive stomach. The service was impeccable, adding to the overall positive experience. Despite being small, the restaurant provides a cozy atmosphere. I had been craving Korean-style Chinese food for a long time. I found this place on Yelp and finally decided to try it out when we were in San Francisco for a family lunch today. We ordered black bean sauce noodles and spicy noodles soup, double-fried chicken with garlic sauce, green beans, sweet and sour pork, and shrimp fried rice. Wow, all of them were incredibly delicious. The portions were generous, satisfying everyone, and the owner and staff were exceptionally attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. While the restaurant isn't large, it's perfect for a family gathering. I highly recommend it if you're craving delicious Korean-style chinese dishes. Finding parking can be difficult, but we were lucky to get a spot in front of the store. I ordered the seafood jjamppong and fried chicken with garlic sauce, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The seafood jjamppong (4/5) had a perfect blend of fresh seafood and flavorful broth, while the fried chicken (4.5/5) was crispy and paired perfectly with the savory garlic sauce. The main draw for me was the raw crab, but we also ordered a variety of other dishes such as dry chicken wings, jajangmyeon, sweet and sour pork, and veggies.
