Was staying at the hospital at CHLA, craving dim sum since our pho was sub par. Ordered, baked bbq pork buns, shrimp and pork shu mai, chicken wings, egg custard tart, almond jello, and egg fried rice. Egg fried rice was bland- again we know what bland is when you're eating hospital food and staying there. The rest of the food was good, not the best dim sum we've had better but we appreciate getting our food delivered to the hospital. Plenty of parking below the restaurant :) A few tables inside. I ordered a lot so here's the orders and the don't orders: Do: Deep Fried Meat Balls (Space is intentional. They're not meatballs, rather crunchy, glutenous dough balls stuffed with slippery meat, deep fried crispy.) Chicken Rice Roll - most places just do this as pork or shrimp, so a chicken version was delightful. Iced coffee: I accidentally added it, took it off, changed my mind and got it (Poor clerk), but that was seriously delicious, lovely blend of cream, sugar, acid, definitely worth the price of admission. Don't: Beef Shu Mai: off flavor and not enough balance of other flavors, just like a steamed meatball. Crab and Shrimp Hargow: Weird wrapper, like a greyish beige, lacked flavor with a weird texture. Chinese Broccoli: I didn't see my dim sum fave of garlic greenbeans, but thought I'd attempt to be healthy and order the Chinese broccoli. It was served cold, very little seasoning. I love leftovers but as server was clearing my empties, she asked if I wanted a lid for the green mess in front of me. I said, "No, that was a terrible dish." She laughed and said, "I know, you should have gotten the pickled cucumbers." Right, good to know, let me just hop in that time machine over there :) Service is friendly and helpful, but definitely order at the front, I had issues with QR code adding dishes and messing with quantities. To the environmental diners, be advised, everything is served on Styrofoam or plastic, no silverware, all single serve disposable, so that might be an issue for some. A true gem of a find. As a Canton descendent, I can vouch for the authenticity of the food. Of course I had to order the chicken feet, as that is the marker of quality dim sum after all. Delectable. The crab and shrimp dumplings were huge. The chunks in the turnip cake, perfection. Portions were healthy and meant to be shared. I did appreciate how they extended the kitchen and reception area for staff yet still had plenty of tables for guests. Came across this spot after a shopping trip at the nearby Ikea in Burbank. What a gem!! Came on a Friday afternoon and there was no wait. Order by scanning the QR code at the table. Dim sum arrived promptly and the food was delicious. The shu mai was nice and plump, the egg tarts were warm and toasted, the seasme red bean balls had a good amount of red bean in the center! Most food and drinks were served in or on paper products. (Probably a result of covid) I usually go to Lunasia Pasadena for my dim sum fix but this place definitely hits the spot for those lazy weekends when I don't want to drive the extra 15 mins to Pasadena. There's about ~100 above ground parking and an underground parking garage with additional parking. Diaso and Ralph's are in the same plaza if you need to run errands or if you have to wait for a table. Will definitely return!! read more

I decided to try a different place for dim sum in Los Angeles. I usually go to Bao Dim Sum near Beverly Hills but thought I drive further to Hollywood. I was able to find parking in the shopping plaza before noon. I ordered steamed shrimp dumplings, beef dumplings, rice noodle filled with BBQ pork, fried pork dumplings, egg custard tarts, baked BBQ buns and fried sesame seed balls. The steamed shrimp dumplings and baked BBQ buns were delicious. The rice noodle filled with BBQ pork was tasty but it would've been better if the temperature was steaming hot. This dim sum restaurant is a good bang for your buck option. The dim sum pieces are large and packed with filling. Don't expect the highest quality ingredients but there will be a lot of it. Overall, a decent option if you're in a 15 min radius with no traffic and need a fix. You scan the QR code and order from the website and submit the order. The food comes out quick. Service is prompt. The interior is modest and clean with black tables and chairs. Parking is in the mall and was busy during the off lunch hour, around 130pm. read more

Glad to have found this place! Been looking for more dim sum restaurants in LA that wouldn't require a long wait and this spot really does it. Went in on a Sunday afternoon and got our food fairly quick. Compared to bigger restaurants, Kingdom does not have the carts and the menu's not as expansive but overall the food is really good! I only recently discovered Kingdom Dim Sum, located in Hollywood on Western and Hollywood in the same mall as the Ralphs Supermarket. On the surface, it's kind of a sketchy area but for what it offers and it's variety and execution, it's a nice destination for dim sum without traveling across the city to the San Gabriel Valley. There are a few dim sum locations in Hollywood and the Westside and like those location the cost of dim sum at Kingdom Dim Sum is more expensive than what you would get in the SGV, but is it worth the price of convenience? Let's take a look at that. For the money the standard items are on par with you would expect to get from the big dim sum halls like NBC Seafood or Atlantic Seafood. The Ha Gow has a couple of different varieties. The pork and shrimp was on point with my expectations. The pork shui mai was larger in size with the exception of maybe Lunasia. They offered a nice variety of rice rolls, even including chicken rice rolls which I don't believe I've ever had before. The pan fried turnip cake had a nice consistency and held it's form picking it up. The pineapple bun or boro bun actually had chunks of pineapples in it and for me I felt like that was the star of the show at Kingdom. It's unique in its flavors and texture and definitely a twist from the norm of expectations. Overall, you really have to ask the question if it's worth the price premium to dine here or drive further east? For me, if you're located nearby or it's on your way home, it's good for takeout, but I don't think I would make a special trip to this part of Hollywood just to dine here. However, for what they're offering I feel like they're a better value proposition than say iXLB located down the street on Sunset Blvd. read more

My sister and i are the ultimate foodies! We are French and Laos. When i say this is the best Dim sum I've had i mean it! Everything is made pretty fresh! Pretty shockingly bad - makes me think they must have used a review farm to get these good reviews. The dumplings were hard and chewy on the outside, and tasted spoiled on the inside - the chicken pancake was straight up nasty, greasy and tough. When I asked if I could get a refund on half my 90% uneaten order, the guy said if I hadn't touched it he could refund me. Godawful, esp when there are so many great places to be found in Thai Town. All the basic items are available, but items like chicken feet and braised tripe have been left off. The food itself was sort of bland. Definitely nothing to write home about. The price point, to me, is a little higher than I would have expected given the vibe of the restaurant. It's on par with places like Lunasia, but with none of the vibes and like half of the flavor. There's limited seating. And when dining in, you're served with foam/paper plates, and takeout sauce packets. You order through your phone and the whole vibe is very cafeteria-esque. I'm very picky when it comes to chinese food and wow, this place brought Alhambra and SGV to Hollywood, a much needed cuisine in this area. They definitely stole my taste buds and I will always be coming here for my dimsum fix from now on. The owners are super nice, which was such a pleasant welcome on top of their already amazing food. This is legit authentic dim sum! We found this gem at the Ralphs' shopping center and thought it was time for an afternoon snack. Being huge fans of dimsum, it was a no brainer for us to try this spot. I figured if the food was good, it would be my local go-to instead of driving to Glendale and standing in line at Din Tai Fung. We ordered the shrimp&pork shiu mai, xiao long bao, steamed pork bun and egg tart. My kids LOVES dimsum so him giving it a thumbs up- is a thumbs up. The shui mai was juicy and you actually taste chunks of shrimp. The xlb was soupy and flavorful. The pork in the pork buns literally reminded of home. And the egg tarts were soooooooo good!!! The tasty scallion pork shrimp siu mai were huge (about triple the size of average ones)! This was the first time I tried a Golden crust BBQ pork bun and it did not disappoint.
