Delivery review only: I saw KDS on IG and was totally wow'd that I had to place an order myself to try it out. I spent around $90 on various items such as fried shrimp wontons, bbq pork buns, beef short ribs, beef siu mai (is the beef supposed to be undercooked?), rice noodle with bbq pork, Chinese broccoli, green leek dumpling, and chicken pancake. My honest opinion is that everything was way over salted, to the point where it wasn't even enjoyable. The beef short ribs had a lot of fat. Best part were the BBQ pork buns. read more

Very tasty, very low brow. Food is served on paper plates, but most things I've tried here are worthwhile. The fried meat dumplings were unique to the neighborhood and worth trying. One note of warning: avoid the beef shumai. While everything else I've tried here has been good, this dish was the worst dumpling I've tried in LA. read more

Lots of parking! Very informal dimsum that is more to go than eat in (though there are a few tables). Servings were pretty good for the price and tasty. All served in plastic containers so be prepared for that too. Teas and desserts in counter and we got the iced tea which was fresh tasting. Pretty close to work so getting it on the way home in busy nights. We got pork and leek dumplings, shrimp shumai, rice noodles w scallions and also asked for hot oil to go with soy sauce. The service was a 4/10. We had to get up to order and pay for our food before we received it. It took 20 minutes for our food to start arriving. The only good item was the pork xiao long bao. Do not order the shrimp; it's terrible. The shrimp was so rubbery, it felt like it was fighting back as I chewed. If you ever come here, only get the pork; it's the only thing I can somewhat recommend. The canned soda was great, and it's the only thing I highly recommend. The restaurant was nearly empty, with just a few employees. The place was dark and gloomy, with tables arranged so closely together that it felt like a maze. My friend got water in a coffee cup, even though coffee wasn't on the menu. This is by the weirdest restaurant I've ever eaten at. It's almost as if the dining experience itself is custom designed to deter you from returning. Polystyrene plates. Cheap take-out chop sticks. Little sachets of soy sauce. A waitress with no Chinese at all. A menu as a QR code or pictures on a worn laminated sheet. This where things U-turn. The food is among the best Dim Sum you can get in LA. And it's bizarrely cheap. I've eaten at a 3 star Michelin Dim Sum in Hong Kong that was only marginally better than this place. Elite Dim Sum in Monterey Park is as good but over double the price and 45 minutes from me. All this place needs is a few table cloths, some tea pots and basic cheap cutlery and the lines will still go around the block. I gave it six stars. Knocked one off for presentation. read more

Very nice to have dim sum available not too far away. Ordered the har gow, pork and shrimp shui mai, shrimp wonton with chili oil, turnip cake and bbq pork rice. The shrimp wonton were hands down the best. BBQ was decent and enjoyed the cucumber pickle. Shui Mai we're good as well with large pieces of shrimp. The har gow and turnip cake were disappointing. Flavor on the turnip cake was lacking--it tasted mainly of old oil. Quite unpleasant. The wrapper on the har gow was extremely thick and the shrimp really had no flavor. In general I love hargow even when it's not the most delicate, but this was really unskilled. In future I'll probably stick to things that have a wonton wrapper--guessing those aren't dependent on whom ever is in the kitchen being able to fashion a thin wrapping. Still, happy to have dim sum in the area. Turnip cake is a never again but I loved those shrimp wontons. read more

Its pretty small so i'd say parties of 3 or less would comfortably fit... they did perfect with my delivery thru door dash! It's a good sp for a snack/ quick bite or delivery. The shumai is nice and big portions.. BBQ pork buns are stuffed nicely too with a perfect amount of filling. My favorite are their chicken potstickers.. they're big and pillowy. As for the low reviews...Consider the area before you bring your expectations and appetite...This is a small, basic dim sum spot-- its not going to offer the same options as SGV or more corporate type places like Din Tai Fung. read more

We need more delicious dim sum places around the Hollywood and Burbank areas! I'm so happy to have found this place. Don't come here expecting someone pushing the dim sum carts around like in the traditional SGV dim sum houses or anything fancy at that. Just know this is a no frills place that serves fresh, homemade dim sum! There are only a few tables here, so it's not great for large groups. However, it's located in a shopping plaza with plenty of free parking! I'm not a big red meat or pork person, so I'm happy they have a lot of chicken and seafood options. Now, if they just made more veggie options, that would be perfect! We ordered a variety of the usual dim sum fares. Crab,Shrimp Har Gow; Glutinous rice with chicken; Rice noodle roll with shrimp; my boyfriend also ordered the Pork and Shrimp Siu Mai; the pan fried chicken potstickers; the Char Sue Bao (BBQ pork in a white fluffy bun) and the baked egg tarts. They are served on what looks like a plastic lid from a carry out container but, I think those are just the disposable (not very eco friendly plates, unless they compost but i didn't see anything noting that) We also were given paper plates and utensils (that were just a tad flimsy). One of our friends ordered the Baked Pineapple custard buns, and those are to die for if you're into a runny mess of hot gooey custard in the middle of the bun. haha Everything came out piping hot and just so fresh! We parked in the subterranean garage and walked upstairs first to Norms that's under construction. So we walked back the other way to Kingdom Dim Sum. There were plenty of tables although two were occupied. Today, we ordered via the qr code on the table. As I mentioned in my prior reviews, these dim sum items come out hot enough to burn your mouth. So becareful on taking those first bites. We ordered baked bbq buns, sesame balls, shrimp hargow, pork and shrimp sui mai, baked pineapple bun, pork and shrimp pancakes, a black tea, and bottled water. My friend enjoyed her first time having dim sum. The service was okay, definitely room for improvement. I felt that the wait staff are just winging it. The puddings are good but I remember them from HK being more melt in your mouth puddings versus these which are more gelatin. Still good but not what I was expecting. The food here is delish!!! We came for the first time a month ago and wow it did not disappoint and we had to come back. Everything we had here was so good. I really wanted to like this place. I've been here once before knowing it's more of a take-away joint vs a sit down. So I ordered online through their website for pick up. I received an order confirmation and it charged my card. I gave it about 30-1hr to show up for pick up. When I arrived, the staff could not find my order, even after I showed them the confirmation email. Knowing this place is a bit new, I was patient with them and waited for their direction on next steps. After about 20 mins of politely standing at the register watching them going back and forth and not really reassuring me on what to do, I asked them if I can just re-order with them and they assured me that I wouldn't be charged again. (It was a lot of items on my order that I had to pick through and select again which was also not listed in my email confirmation to just show them.) The staff wasn't rude, but not nice either? Again, me just chalking this up to them being new/green. Once they put my order in again, I left to walk the plaza as to not awkwardly stand there for another 30 mins to wait for my order. Finally, I came back and my order was up. Honestly, just happy to go home and eat at that point. However, the first dumpling I bit into had something hard in it that almost cracked my tooth. I spit it out into the trash immediately. I thought it may be like a bone at first, but after some examination, it was like a piece of rock/pebble. In hindsight, I should've taken a photo (although a partially spit out dumpling in the trash would've been gross to see). I was already so turned off by the whole situation. I thought this would be a good neighborhood option for quick dim sum, but I realize I could've driven to SGV and eaten in that time frame.. I ordered the Baked BBQ Pork Bun and the Pineapple Custard Bun. All of them taste so good and fresh! The pineapple custard bun has custard and real pineapple chunks inside! The top is crunchy and the bread is soft, perfect combination! The Baked BBQ pork bun is soft and not too dry, the BBQ pork inside is juicy and delicious! I am so happy that Kingdom Dim Sum is now part of our Los Feliz community! I went in today for their soft opening and met the owner and his father (he is the chef!!! and so proud of his son). This is a great add for the community because we are awash with the best Thai and Armenian restaurants but few great Chinese with authentic foods. I bought the Har Gow (shrimp dumplings), the rice flour wrapped around crunchy fresh shrimp, the Lo Mei Gai (rice cooked in lotus leaf wrapping with Chinese sausage, pork, and mushrooms) was perfectly steamed and the rice was not "goopy" like other places, each bite was filled with flavors. The best part was finding the coconut dessert my mother made for us when we were kids! It was just as great and brought back so many fond memories. The tables were pretty dirty, and I took it as they focused more on the food coming out. The food itself was mediocre and felt overpriced. Most of it was dry, which was wild to me as a lot of it was steamed. There was a new employee in front that was left to figure it out on their own without much guidance from the veteran employees. It seemed like some of the items would be ok because there was a little stream of people doing carry out orders. Menu was out of date and had items no longer available. It was like playing battleship with food but not fun because I'm hungry. Almost no condiment options.
