    Cream cheese and jalapeño kolache

Great friendly service when I entered. It was quick and easy to place a counter order. A wide variety of options available from sweet to savory. [[HIGHLIGHT]]You can sit indoors or outdoors on the patio.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered the cream cheese and jalapeño cheese. They were both great. My favorite is the cream cheese. It was buttery on top for some extra added indulgence. Enjoyed it!

I missed coming here on the regular for breakfast when I worked in this area. There used to be a Randall's Grocery store that had receipts for BOGO kolaches. But it's now a Spec's. Their savory kolaches are my favorite. I was reminded by their excellence in an Instagram app for National Kolache Day coming up on March 1st. But I got so excited I didn't want to wait. Sausage and gravy is what I went with for today. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I recommend their outdoor seating as it's much nicer than the inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Also they've adopted a rewards app, which I'm excited to try!

One of my favorite if not MY favorite quick stop for a breakfast bite in downtownish Austin. They have sooo many options, from regular normal cheese and sausage kolaches to delicious ones with egg and also sweet tarts/treats and such. They always warm them up for you as well and they taste amazing! And best part is they're only like $2/$3 each, which is so great. Ladies who work there are super sweet as well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's really easy to go in and grab a bite to go or sit at the picnic tables outside and ea5z[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I have come to the realization that this is probably one of the most underrated breakfast/brunch spots. It's tasty, affordable, filling, and very vegetarian friendly! I came here with my vegetarian friend who had suggested it, and our other friend was surprised to hear that she wanted to get kolaches because he thought they all had meat. She put me on the spinach kolache, which was delicious. It is just spinach with some cheese. I also got two breakfast kolaches: potato, egg & cheese and sausage, egg & cheese. They have a large selection of savoury and fruit kolaches. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The patio looked nice, but the chairs had an extensive amount of bird poop on them, so we sat inside instead.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restroom was clean, much to my surprise.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The parking lot only has a few spots, and it was full when we got there. I was very wary of parking in any of the surrounding lots because I felt like I could be booted or towed at any moment, so I parked in the free retail garage by Snooze, and we walked two blocks over.

It's dangerous how close Kolache factory is to me, my wallet may hate it but my stomach loves this place!!! As always this place is a wonderful way to start the morning. The kolaches are always fresh and full of flavor! I always like trying something new and at this point I've had it all. Come here for the taste and you'll never be disappointed. As always, a total 5/5 stars for all the work put into these kolaches

It's a pretty decent kolache place. On par with long star kolaches in my opinion. The only gripe I have is the lack of coffee selection. There was only sugar and a few half and half left. Given, I only stopped in the kill time for my vehicle inspection so I wasn't expecting much. The egg kolaches are quite delicious and that's all that it matters. Definitely a solid place to grab breakfast kolaches to go.

    So good!

I always try to stay away from chains, BUT let me tell you that Kolache Factory does not disappoint. I will say that this location does look a little beat up, the interior (and exterior) needs a bit of some remodeling or new look. But I'm sure that doesn't have any influence on the taste on the kolaches. I do love the variety of kolaches you can order, from sausage to brisket to sweet flavors, it's just yummy to bite into warm bread with filling. This is one of those places where you just order a couple dozen kolaches and leave. There is some seating, but again, it's like stopping into a gas station. Wil definitely come back, but maybe moreso to a different location. But hey! The place may not look Soo appealing, but the kolaches are good!

Kolaches taste great. Honestly my go to for a quick breakfast. I normally come around 1:30 when the kolaches are half off because of the limited selection and I'm always leaving satisfied with my order. Employees are really nice and inside is always clean.

Left: Ham and Swiss Cheese Kolache, top: Sausage, Egg and Cheese Kolache, right: Ranchero Kolache

You can tell a lot about a kolache place by there ranchero. It had flavor, lots of filling, and the bread is so soft and pillowy. Delicious. And the salsa went great with it!

I haven't tried the kolaches yet, but I did get the cinnamon twist, apple Danish, and cream cheese pastry--and they were terrific! Not only did they look fantastic, but they tasted just as good. I'll be coming back to explore more of their menu. I highly recommend this spot to anyone with a sweet tooth!

I hate to leave a negative review so will try to keep this short. The staff was kind and quick to help me. There are a few tables inside to eat and a bathroom right off the main room, which is not my favorite thing to see or smell that close to the food. They do have a number of brewed coffees to choose from, which is a perk you don't see in many places that serve coffee. I ordered the pumpkin cream cheese muffin instead of a kolache. I've had these types of muffins before so I know what they're like. This muffin looked half raw and tasted terrible. I had a few bites and threw it out.

I love the green soft chairs, the tables, and the chef statue greeting you as you pull in front of the building. He's right there in the window. The bistro honestly takes your breath away. I love it! So in the last two weeks, I've been back exactly four times. My first introduction was the Croissant Scramble with chicken and veggies inside, with the Arnold Palmer. My friend got the Croissant Scramble with brisket. The presentation of the croissants when brought to the table blew me away. It was wrapped up in the cutest paper with the ends twisted. The topic of conversation was how good the croissants were. Before we left, we ordered some delicious cookies. The chocolate chips were yummy. So I went the following day and grabbed some pastries! One in particular was the Pecan Bar. The following week, another friend and I stopped in for the Chicken Pesto Omelet. I like that the fire-roasted bell peppers and onions are cooked, if that's the right word. But l have to tell you, the Mexican Hot Chocolate drink brings on the flavor, as does the ice-cold Mocha. Of course, we got the Pecan Bar for dessert. So yes, I went back yesterday for the Almond Croissant. I know, I know!

When I arrived, I was told the cake wasn't ready and was asked if I could come back the next morning--which obviously didn't work given the timing of the event. As a substitute, they offered me a pre-made cake from their display case and assured me it was chocolate like I originally ordered, just with a chocolate mousse filling. They refunded me $15 to account for the difference, and I felt pressured to accept since I needed something for the dinner that night. Unfortunately, the situation got worse from there. When we cut into the cake, it turned out to be confetti--not chocolate. Then, when we tried to eat it, it was clearly stale, dry, and inedible. No one touched it after the first bites. It completely missed the mark for what was supposed to be a special moment. What's especially frustrating is that I ordered from them last year for the same occasion, and everything went perfectly--that's why I trusted them again. This time, however, it was a complete letdown from start to finish. When I called the next day to request a refund, I asked to speak with a manager but was told that wasn't possible. Instead, I was told I would only be offered a partial refund because I accepted the replacement cake. I understand that mistakes happen, but the lack of accountability and quality here was really disappointing--especially for something as important as a birthday celebration.

Unfortunately, I did not like most of the things we took home that day (my husband agreed). A taro egg ball thing -- not fans. A gelatinous rice blob inside a bamboo leaf (believe it's called Zongzi) -- also didn't work for us. Finally, the beef puff (which seemed like a safe bet) fell short of expectations. It's my fault -- I ignored that part that said "beef floss." It had a stringy/processed texture that I just didn't like. I just wasn't a fan of the flavors/textures -- but obviously that's subjective. I did enjoy the garlic bread we also thankfully bought -- it was soft and flavorful. If you're not familiar with the foods, I'd recommend making sure you get a few "safe" items like the cream bread or garlic bread. One important thing to note for first-time visitors: be very careful with parking. The lot next door apparently boots cars almost immediately if they see you park there and walk toward the bakery. It's not the bakery's fault, but it's definitely something customers should be aware of before visiting. Parking headache aside, this place is 100% worth the trip.

Thoroughbread bakery is tucked away in a residential area behind South Lamar. I saw a post on…read moresocial media touting ThoroughBread cookies as the best cookies they have ever eaten. Wow, that was a bold claim! I finally got the opportunity to try ThoroughBread cookies and they were quite yummy. These cookies are like no other cookies I have eaten. I got the chocolate chip cookies with pecans. They had the texture of gingerbread cookies and were huge. They were gooey in the middle, perfectly crisp on the outside, and rich without being eye-squinting sweet. The chocolate chip cookies had welcoming textures and flavors. In addition, my server was kind and patient as I made my selection. You could taste the quality of ingredients, and each mouthful was progressively delicious. Definitely try Thoroughbread cookies for yourself. You're in for a treat.

Would recommend getting here before 9 am if you're looking to grab something specific. Service is a tad slow, but the line moves pretty steadily. In terms of overall space, there's a connected lot with a decent amount of parking spots available which is great. There's also benches/stools outside so you can enjoy your treats while they're fresh. Pink Cake ($7, 4.5/5) - I liked how the "cake" base itself is more hearty (with corn as the main ingredient) - The buttercream is a very pretty pink, which matches the overall aesthetic of Comadre. It's a tad sweet, but works overall. Empanadas ($7 each, 5/5) - Great savory option! The filling consists of stewed chickpeas, poblano chilies, cheddar cheese. - Comes with a side of tomatillo sauce which adds some nice tang. Overall, really enjoyed our experience! I had just recently watched an Austin PBS episode that featured Comadre - would recommend checking the video out as it highlights a lot of the thought/consideration that goes into this business! Excited to come by next time I'm in the area & checking out other items on the menu.

Parking is limited -- only a few narrow spots outside. Okay wow. The ube ice cream here is out-of-this-world. Came here with my hubby and two toddlers and we got one cone to share (the kids just get a little bit). This is usually enough but I felt like I wanted MORE. It was so creamy and flavorful. We kept it simple -- fish cone with nutella and ube soft serve. We had the option of swirling it with a milk tea ice cream but it had a little bit of caffeine so no good. Glad the choice was made for us -- the ube was perfect on its own. Also happy we skipped the toppings since the creaminess really came through. They sell mochi donuts too -- they were pretty good but not as good as the ice cream. Parking is limited but we had no issue snagging a spot at 430pm on a Sunday. Only a few narrow spots outside (no official lot). Full disclosure -- both my daughter and I had tummy aches after eating this ice cream and you know what? I have zero regrets! It was that good.
