This was my first time eating here, and I must say the food was really good. I came with a group of girlfriends and we enjoyed our service just as much as the food. I ordered the cheese enchiladas with beans and rice. It was amazing! The enchilada sauce is homemade with the right amount if spice to it. The rice was good, not dry or flavor less like most places. We came here because we liked the food the last time. So this time we brought a couple friends with us, the food was pretty good, once I got it! We got the new waitress, oh I swear she should've had somebody shadowing her. I had to order my meal three times before they got it right. How hard is it to get the number eight combo plate which is two taquitos. It's not that difficult! They kept bringing me different orders, I don't know who's they were but it definitely was not mine. I was getting really really frustrated. Also, at the end of the meal when we got the bill we were very clear and told her to put $35 on ours and the rest on the other card. She put $25 on our card and the rest on the other card. No apology for the mixup no apology for the number of times she got my order wrong nothing. This is the best Mexican restaurant in Tucson. The food is amazing here, we had the Molcajete, Breaded Shrimp, Chilaquiles and their delicious Micheladas. On a positive note, the food is very good, competitive prices, and friendly wait staff. So why the low mark? This place has two things wrong with it: appearance and ambience. The first thing noted is all the cigarette butts, trash, unmaintained landscape, and door mats hanging from the handrails at the entry doors. The second thing noted is the apparent policy of this restaurant to wet mop floors with bleach in the entryways; wash and hang out floor mats by the entry doors and leave mop, bucket and bleach out so that customers have to walk around to get to a table. All of this during normal business hours. We've been told that this is the practice with another Taco Giro location but "nobody complains". We've asked the manager of this location these questions and complained a number of times with the same response: they keep doing it. I've been living in Tucson for five years. Very ashamed to say that I've never tried this place until today. Amazing service, the food came out so fast I I was really shocked, granted I did go to this restaurant at 3 PM maybe that has something to do with it. Maybe things are slower during the dinner rush. Anyway, the food was absolutely amazing I got a wet burrito with ground beef and rice with beans absolutely great food. The waitresses are amazing very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. I definitely will be going back to this establishment. This is my second time at this restaurant and both times are memorable. I was greeted and seated immediately. Ana waited on me both times. The two women working the floor really know what they're doing, and they help make your dining experience here very pleasurable. It is very clear that they care about their jobs, and their customers. Late lunch at this eatery today. I had the taquitos with guacamole from the appetizer menu and my companion asked for a bean burrito with some enchilada sauce. My order was great (8.99) It had wonderful salad on the plate that was a nice surprise. How ever my companion's meal was not so great. He was very clear that he wanted a bean burrito with just enchilada sauce, no rice, no guacamole or sour cream and no cheese on top. What came was bean burrito with sauce,cheese on top as well as guacamole and sour cream. He sent it back. When it came back it had even more enchilada sauce and even more cheese! He ate it any way but when our check came we were charged for a wet burrito (which comes with rice and fixings for 9.99 not a bean burrito with sauce which should have been 5.99 and 1.50 for sauce! Convenient and perfectly good food. Don't expect really great housemate sauces and dishes. More like assembled fast dining (a la Panera Bread type place), but good traditional Mexican fare with out the frills. Priced accordingly. A nice last minute stop for a quick meal. read more

I can't understand why anyone likes this place. Chips are stale, cbicken tacos are dry, one of my shredded beef tacos was just a big lump of fat. No thanks. While taco giro has an extensive menu with ever so many options, they definitely value quantity over quality, filling every plate with boring nothing special steeping helpings of rice and beans . What a nice surprise! The service was good and the food was too. Pricing is fair and it looked clean. Two reasons for not giving it 5 stars .....the table tops were "sticky" as if they needed to be cleaned better and the salsa had no kick at all and I'm a wimp when it comes to salsa! I had the taco salad with carnitas and it was VERY good! We ordered carne asada nachos and received a very generous portion that was tasty indeed!! This is a wonderful authentic Mexican restaurant located near the Mount Lemmon highway. It is easily located inside the Safeway shopping center. We ate here the other day for a nice line special for to and we were pleasantly surprised on how good the food was. Our waitress Denise did a great job with their customer service and attentiveness to our needs. We had a wonderful experience here for the price of the food and the portions we deafly can't wait to come back. Taco Giro seemed to come in overnight taking the location of the mediocre neighborhood Mexican restaurant. Thank goodness that it's here now! Delicious food, a varied menu, and friendly service. I have to admit that our first visit (within the first week of opening) was a bit rough with service. Our table was served behind later-arriving tables and our new server was unfamiliar with the system it seemed. The manager took the delay seriously and made adjustments on the bill. The food was good, so we were sure to give it another try. This second time in was just wonderful. Our server was very prompt, though it was easier for her to go into menu detail in Spanish with my husband, who is also a native speaker. The meal starts with house made tortilla chips with a medium-spice fresh salsa and a smooth bean dip. They had a happy hour until 10, but the yummy chamoy margarita wasn't on the HH specials. Two baskets of chips and our food was at the table ( and the place was full). My husband had nothing but compliments for his soup, Carne en su Jugo. It's a beef stew with bacon, beans, cilantro, onion in a hearty yet spicy broth. Being on the NE side of town, he wasn't expecting much, but he was very impressed. The platter-size bowl was huge as well. It came with a side of tortillas, grilled onion and peppers, radishes and limes. I had the Camerones Culichi which was a rich and creamy tomatillo green sauce filled with 12-14 medium shrimp. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and weren't at all over cooked. It came with tortillas, rice, guacamole and French fries. It was decadent and delicious! My two kids had the (big!) carne asada burrito, and off the 'breakfast all day menu' Chilaquilles with three eggs. Of course I got to try their meals and both were very good. The red chilaquilles ( they also have green) had a kick to them and even served at 7 pm, weren't at all soggy (like they can be when sitting a while). I can't believe that we have such tasty chilaquillas so close to home! As you can see, we will be back and from the look of the many full tables in the dining room, the place will be popular! Best Eastside Mexican restaurant by far! First time here arrived just after 8pm and even though the rush was over, we had superior service. Chips and salsa came out quickly and I was pleasantly surprised at not only the salsa with the chips but also a very tasty bean dip (and I'm not usually a been dip fan)! The margaritas were only $2.99 and went down fast! I ordered the chicken enchilada combo and added one more for leftovers. Cooked to perfection and the sauce had a slight lime taste that did not over power at all. Beans and rice were perfect. Going to try this place for breakfast as I love a good Mexican breakfast. They had specials Monday-Friday for $4.99 gotta love that! All in all this is my favorite neighborhood restaurant for those times you just can't live without your chips and salsa or on this case bean dip too and everything else. We decided to give this place a try since we were in the area. We were greeted and given drinks promptly, the waitress was very attentive the whole time. I tried the bean dip and it was barely warm. That's a no for me, I don't want to get sick. Two of us ordered the same combo( which included a tamale) and another ordered a tamale combo. The waitress came back and apologized but they were out of tamales, what would we like instead? The enchiladas and rice in the combo were good. Both of us felt the shredded meat in the taco had no flavor at all. The other person got a chicken torta. It was shredded chicken with pico de Gallo, guacamole spread out. They said the chicken had no flavor and ate about a quarter of the sandwich. The chicken tortas we've had, aren't with shredded chicken. I mentioned where I was to a friend & their response was," do you like it? I've given them a few chances and it's never good." Two stars for the attentive waitress and enchiladas. read more

This place has very good food. The service is fantastic. The only issue or warning I will give is that the bathroom exhaust fans are not working or turned off. Therefore the restaurant smells of bathroom deodorizer, which when you are trying to enjoy a meal can ruin a nice dinner. read more

I've come here a few times and enjoyed the food. The bean dip that they bring out with the complimentary chips is really good and a nice addition to the salsa. I've tried various chicken dishes here, like the flautas and enchiladas and they were all good (not the best in town, but good), but my favorite thing to get here is a breakfast burrito. Called in an order for 2 green chili chimichangas last night and asked for red sauce instead of green. They took my name and number and said it would be ready for pickup in 15 - 20 minutes and hung up. I had looked at the online menu prior to ordering and expected the chimis to be $9.99. When I picked up my order they said it was $30.39! I said " for two chimichangas with rice and beans?" They said that the green chimis were now $10.99 and there was a $5.49 upcharge for the red sauce! I said that should have been explained to me on the phone. Bottom line is, there should never be an upcharge for basically substituting red sauce for the green. Who does that? Nobody! Also, they need to update their online menu if prices change. They never offered to remove the upcharge from the bill for the misunderstanding, and finally, you always advise the customer of any upcharges and tell them the total over the phone before hanging up. I have been a long time patron of this restaurant and I told them...they just lost a customer. Poor customer service...sad to say. 30 BUCKS FOR TWO CHIMIS...REALLY... read more
