We made a reservation on a Sunday morning but definitely didn't need to. There were plenty of tables open when we got there. This was our first time for brunch so we took our time reviewing the menu and made our hard decision. We got the breakfast pizza and the American breakfast along with drinks. I will say- this place is not cheap! Be prepared! The breakfast pizza was definitely spicy and I could have used less spice but the remainder of the meal was great. Was in this area, never heard of Matchbox so came in on a whim and what a great experience. I loved the options as they offered a brunch menu. When I walked in I saw a picture of mini burger (sliders, I couldn't think of the name) and I said I want that. They were delicious and I could have been satisfied with that but decided to order other things since I don't live in this area - the Scramble from the brunch menu; the fish and chips; the cheese pizza (no I wasn't by myself ordering all of this). Everything was delicious. Service was top notch. David did an excellent job and his co workers were kind as well from the host to other servers. I wouldn't suggest it, well definitely not for social hour, just come for regular dine in. $45 social hour with no drinks. Don't get me wrong on a warm fall day I thought this would be an amazing location Nope I should have driven past and gone to the yard house where the entire restaurant is a "happy" hour (no specific location for deals) with great deals, epic energy and amazing service from the moment you arrive. The only highlight was that the bartender was very friendly but the poor lady looked overworked, I truly appreciated her smiling and being professional although I could see she was holding her area down alone. Visit Details I arrived to no hostess. I waited only to continue waiting, time is ticking social hour is limited. I was hoping to find out where the social hour was located and if it was only at the bar area or through the restaurant, after a while I just walked to the bar and ended up passing the hostess who I saw walking up laughing with staff in the back when I asked her If she could tell me if I just go to the bar or just wait, she got very snappy as if I was bothering her. I alerted her that it wasn't a hostess so I wasn't sure what to do, she walked away saying you just go outside. I go to the patio for the waitress to tell me I have to wait to sit outside and I would need to see the hostess... I just sat in the semi outside bar, to get bar service. Then the next kill joy, the sad new social hour menu. It's been cut down or maybe the outdoor bar menu is different from the indoor bar menu idk, I do know it was just disappointing. The burger and onion rings were not great, a bunch of over cooking onion straws over sliders ‍ however the pizza we got looked over cooked but actually was really good. Sigh just not the best social hour environment after a very stressful day complete mood kill. Weird when you get to a social hour and change your mind on wanting a drink... We hadn't been here in a while and went for brunch today. I loved my 'ultimate breakfast sandwich' that had bacon and sausage, soft scrambled eggs, and a nice tangy dressing- all in a large brioche bun. My hubs had the all American breakfast that they serve with French toast instead of regular toast- which he loved!! I took off one star because our server didn't check on us until after we were done eating, and didn't offer a refill on coffee. read more

Our server Kyle was friendly and greeted us shortly after we sat down. It took a while before we were ready to place an order and he was patient and didn't rush us. We started with come cocktails and table bread that came out fast and were perfect. The drinks were tasty and the bread was delicately crisp. For my entree, I ordered the crispy half chicken and it was incredibly fresh and juicy. The mashed potatoes and asparagus that came with it was also delicious. My sister ordered the chicken avocado sandwich and side of fries. She loved it but could only eat half the serving was so generous. 10/10 the food and service were amazing and we will be back! read more

The good news is, the pesto part of the chicken pesto pizza tastes great. Nice textured bread, juicy tomatoes, classic taste. The unfortunate part is they left the chicken off (I definitely didn't select 'no chicken' on my online order, but that's what the order slip from the restaurant that they put on the box says). So I'm torn here because what I'm eating *is* good, and I cooked some of my own chicken to put on top so it's not like my craving didn't get met, but this is also not what I ordered. If the kitchen was out of chicken, can I suggest calling and saying that next time? Likely would've ordered something else, or not at all, since after the delivery fees & the tip that's about $30 for something missing the meat. read more

You can never go wrong eating here. Minutes away from home, the best staff and service in town. They have a roof top for parties, spacious bar area and huge dinning area, two floors to be exact. My favorite is always the pizza the crust is made to perfection just the way I like it. I also had the chicken tortilla soups it was so delicious, the tuna tartar tacos were made to perfection. One of my favorite drinks here is my special pear drop martini, even though us isn't on the menu anymore our waiter was able to have the bartender make it for me. I am not sure what experience the people who gave this restaurant a 1-star rating had. I have never had a bad meal at Matchbox!! My photos are from the Washington, DC, location but the Rockville location is also amazing. Yes, you've had wood-fired pizza before. However, Matchbox makes it in such a way that you feel like you are eating it for the first time. Don't just order the pizza, everything on the menu is FANTASTIC!! I mean just check out my pics. I've eaten here for lunch with a friend & even on a date night. Love the vibe of this place. It always reminds me of an upscale NY restaurant, very sexy. The service is fast & wonderful. They have a full bar and enough items on the menu that everyone will find a dish. But not so many that they can't all be achieved beautifully. Highly recommend Matchbox. Food was good nothing to rave or even to be like we coming back for that but it was good. Prices are too high in my opinion for the quality of steak they use but it was prepared nicely. Restrooms could use some cleaning and over the restaurants floor and tables were sticky. Now this place would of also been better If the service wasn't so horrible. Our waiter didn't even bring us our drinks. When placing our order he was annoyed that we were going to share a plate. But mind you we still got an appetizer and the total bill was about $90. I set up a simple 8-person Sunday birthday dinner party the other nite. Wow what a confusing event. First, 2 different waiters came to our table, which were set aside in the back of their Barrel Room. The food was good but 3 of our guests waited another 30+ minutes to get their food. And two of the 8 meals had to be sent back for lack of direction in proper prep and a cold salmon salad offering. At the end, another $20 was added to my particular billing for drinks we never recd.
