And the Mahi Mahi Fish & Chips are so fresh, tender, perfectly battered and lightly fired and delicious. This is the real deal. The fries are seasoned wonderfully with maybe a hint of paprika or Spike seasoning?! The portions are nice...

We came on a Saturday night before our movie- it was pretty busy! My husband ordered for us: for me the macadamia nut mahi mahi plate and for him the Baja fish tacos, and a basket of fries to share. When I saw he had accidentally subbed fresh veggies for the cole slaw so I went up to the register and they immediately went to fix with the kitchen and refund me the up charge (amazing!). Our food was hot, fresh and delicious- I especially loved the sauce on top of my fish. Walls are painted beautifully with Hawaii themed murals and the Hawaiian spirit throughout!

Wow. This place was impressive, not only were the fish tacos really good and delicious but the service was amazing and the owner was super friendly and helpful. The staff were very welcoming as well and paid a lot of attention to our needs and were proactive. We also had the fish and chips and this was so light and crispy and the fries were very good. We sat outdoors in the perfect Arizona spring weather. What really made the visit was the owner's friendliness and hospitality. I will be back to try more items on the menu as the fish was super fresh. This is a must visit!!!

Not cheap. Probably the best Maui Maui tacos I've ever had. The coleslaw was awesome --with a nice pop-up horseradish. This salsa was just right. Highly recommended. They're doing a rebranding to Maui fish house. Will return if in the area again!

Restaurant is very clean. Love the little surf board tables. There were several sauce options (hot sauce, ketchup, soy sauce, etc) The coconut shrimp was delicious. Loved the sauce that came with it but also love dipping in tarter. The macadamia nut mahi was ok. Nothing to rave about. The veggies I got for an up charge were delicious Fish and chips were ok.

5 stars without hesitation. I was in Phoenix visiting family and found this place while searching for an early dinner spot. Honestly, I'm shocked it doesn't already have a perfect rating because it definitely earned one from me. We shared the poke bowl and the fish tacos, and both were so good. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and well made. You can tell they really care about the quality of the food. I'm already planning what to order next time, and the seafood pasta is at the top of my list. Highly recommend if you're in the area and looking for a great meal.

My partner and I stopped by Coconut's Fish Cafe for a quick lunch while out running errands. We went on a Thursday afternoon around 1:30pm and it wasn't busy at all - plenty of tables available. I ordered the Fish & Chips and my partner got the Poke Bowl. The food came out really quickly, within a matter of minutes. I thought my Fish & Chips were great; the fish was moist and flavorful and the fries were hot and crispy. My partner wasn't the biggest fan of his Poke Bowl. He said the poke was sort of mushy and the whole thing was pretty bland. He ended up asking for some poke sauce to put on. It definitely needs it, not sure why it doesn't automatically come with the dish. The employee at the counter was friendly and helpful. She also checked-in after the food arrived, which is excellent customer service for a counter-order restaurant. I would definitely come back for the Fish & Chips. I would also be interested in trying a grilled fish plate next time. Think we'll pass on the Poke.

New name, same incredibly delicious, famous Maui-style Fish Tacos! Brings us back to the beaches of Hawaii every time. You can't find fish tacos like this anywhere else in Arizona - SO authentic! Plus, we love watching the videos on the walls of all the most beautiful slow motion curling waves with the world's top surfers showing HOW it's done! Lots of other mouthwatering fresh delicious fish dishes, too. But, it's the world famous fish tacos which brings us in every time!

One of these days when cooking sounds like a total drag or your taste buds are all meh, just waltz on over to Coconuts. I can basically roll out of bed and get there. The vibe is adorbs, the spot is sparkling clean, the crew is always all smiles, the grub is on point, and the beer? Ice. Cold.

The family and i stopped in for a quick lunch on our first day of spring break. We were welcomed by a nice gentlemen who ended up being one of the owners of the location. He was very friendly and offered us a menu. The place was busy but handled the crowd well. The staff was friendly and it was clear that the team was working well together. The seafood dishes were excellent. My daughter let me sample her fish and chips and the breading was light and crunchy and the cut of mahi was excellent. i highly recommend. The portion size of the chicken pasta my other daughter had was huge so she'll have plenty of leftovers for our stay in Scottsdale. The sauce on the pasta was excellent. i highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner!

Yelp reviews did not disappoint. The fish taco mountain was delicious. The dipping sauce for the coconut shrimp was was different in a good way with a little kick. The surf motif was nice and the videos transported you to the beach watching surfing. NEED to get to Maui. :) read more

The family and I went here for lunch today...YAS! It's everything all the other reviews say and more! My hubby had the 2 fish tacos, which he enjoyed. I had the fish and chips and I left saying it was some of the best I've ever had! There's no mystery, fatty weirdness that some fish and chips may have sometimes. It's all fresh white flakey Mahi Mahi battered to perfection!!! The homemade tarter sauce is tasty and has dill in it, which mixes really nicely with the lemon you squirt on the fish. Yum....the fries are good, but the coleslaw was super average...but who cares! The fish is the star here :) I'll be back Coconut's! read more

Glad I tried this place. They serve very crave-able food so I'm sure I'll be back soon. If you eat tacos as often as I do, I'm sure you will appreciate the Hawaiian flavors and freshness. However, I found the tacos to be a little too large and awkward to eat. The mango salsa is a nice fresh flavor, but it was lacking popping spice and flavor overall. I think I'll go for a salad or poke next time. I also got the coconut shrimp appetizer, which was a delectable treat. read more

Looking for a kid-friendly restaurant on vacation and Coconuts was on the list. I quickly checked to see if it was the same Coconuts I grew to love in Maui a couple years back and discovered it was. Drove there and it was everything I remembered. I had grilled fish over rice and husband had fish tacos and we split both. So delicious. So fresh. Can't wait to have it again soon! The food was good. I liked the fish tacos (they are very big!) and the seafood pasta (with alfredo) was also good. I do think the pasta was overpriced (only 2 pieces of shrimp). Also, they charge a take out fee, fyi. Overall, I would go back but I'm not going to rave about it to everyone. read more

Great fish tacos!! my only issue is that the corn shell is WAY to small for the amount of stuff they put into it...it makes a huge mess!! servers are polite and helpful, however there was one girl just wandering about who looked to maybe be new or something...also, the uniforms were quite inappropriate...there should have been a real uniform for this job instead of short shorts and a tank top, or the one girl who looked like she just rolled out of bed...step up Coconuts and get your staff a proper uniform!! Other than that, I loved the cute surf board tables and atmosphere!! How I managed to skip over this place when I was in Maui is beyond me...maybe next time I'm there Ill check it out. read more

Amazing! Like being back in Maui. Fresh fish and shrimp, lightly breaded so it doesn't overwhelm. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great beer selection. Patio is comfy and setup with heat and air for when the weather changes. Only a parking lot view but hey, the food rocks! read more

Amazing! The atmosphere takes me right back to Maui! Cute surfboard tables and very clean. The staff was very nice, accommodating, and informative. We had their famous fish tacos and it is clear why they have won awards for the tacos. While they are a bit messy being piled high with 17 ingredients it is an experience eating them. They encourage you to eat with your hands although you can't possibly imagine how to get all of that in your hands and into your mouth without spilling out.... But it's possible and well worth it! We had the opportunity to meet Chef Mike, a really nice and informative guy. Chef Mike also recommended the coconut shrimp, they had the sweet taste of coconut with this beautiful crunchiness to them, it's the sauce that makes them and that compliments them so perfectly...its a sweet chilie Thai sauce that is a perfect mix of sweet and spicy. read more

The fish is very fresh here. I started with the seafood chowder which was good, and then fish tacos. When they first brought it out my first reaction was that it was not going to be enough to fill me up but I was wrong! There was a lot of fish and I was starting to get full after the first taco(2 comes in order) . I liked that there were pineapple and avacado in it. My mom got the fish and chips and it was very fresh. The inside is nice and is hawaiian themed with a big screen tv of people surfing and surf board tables. Would recommend! read more

I ordered the fish tacos and thought they were a bit on the pricy side, but then I got my food and the tacos are enormous and really tasty. I was stuffed and definitely happy when I finished them. My boyfriend got the calamari and chips and wasn't nearly as happy with his meal as I was with mine, so I think I'll just be sticking to the tacos. read more

This place is fantastic! This restaurant is fairly decent sized, located between a Mexican restaurant and ironically, a Panda Express (not sure why you would go to Panda when this is MUCH better and equally affordable). The dining room is well lit with about 10 to 12 tables and resembles a chipotle in terms of ordering process that funnels customers to the register. I ordered the smoked salmon roll, the spicy salmon roll, and a poke bowl. And on each one, the amount of ingredients and overall portion sizes far exceed what you typically expect for a sub $10 price point. My Poke Bowl was really exceptional and the purple rice is legit! It did feel and taste a little more starchy than regular white sushi rice but I liked it. Evidently they have two locations, with another location in Central Scottsdale. This will definitely be one of my go to sushi spots in the valley.

I went on Saturday lunch so I suggest maybe going for dinner or mid afternoon so you dont get stuck with eating leftover rice from the night before. Or just dont get rice on your order. Also after eating the whole thing i left still hungry. They could stand to make their burritos a little bigger. Also I got a tuna burrito and it had hot and cold toppings mixed in which made the fish lukewarm when it reaches your mouth which was super unappetizing. The sauce was put on the fish so the toppings like vegetables all get mushed into one spot with no sauce while the fish is soaked with sauce so you have to take a small bite out of each side to get a good combo of sauce. But the toppings were SO dry it was hard to eat. They really should put all the toppings in one bowl and mix it all so everything is mixed well before putting it on rice which further dries out your mouth when you take a bite of the dry toppings. They also dont cover their toppings so the fish is just left in open air all day. Considering fish attracts flies there would be no doubt a fly could have landed on the fish you are eating! I get not covering the toppings, but leaving fish out like that is kind of disgusting. One thing I did appreciate was whoever did the hiring hired 2 workers who altho looked like they didnt want to be there (but who really wants to work at a place like this on the weekend), they were still kind, helpful, and answered questions, as this was my first time here. It was smart to have a camera facing the line so they could go in the back to be on their phone rather than some fast food places where you can see them just sitting on their phones behind the counter. When a customer came in they immediately came out to help them. It was nice to see. Also they have a sign in there that states "local, healthy, raw" which i find misleading as theres no way their ingredients could be locally sourced as theres no body of water for fish to grow in arizona so they would have had to source the fish out of state, making it not local. And the fish does not taste very fresh. If it were local fish it would taste way better than wherever they get their fish from! So i found it odd they would claim to be local. Also the only raw thing in this burrito is the fish and a few of their vegetable toppings. And after all the fried toppings, hot cheetos, and sauces i dont know how healthy this is. Certainly less "healthy" than a normal sushi restaurant. But i guess if you compared it to McDonald's i guess it would be healthy. There are signs in here saying they are part of best of phoenix in 2017 and 2019. I cant imagine a place like this being the "best" in the city as the food was just not good. It must have tasted better back then because today the food was bad. So im assuming they cut costs a lot the last few years to the point of ruining the foods taste. Id come back for the service if all their workers were like this. So ill give a star for that. But I dont think ill come back for the food. The rice really ruined the whole burrito as every bite contained the inedible hard pieces of rice. The food is mediocre at best. I left hungry too.

As for the food, the schnitzel and thick French toast were amazing. Baked eggs was great. Coffee drinks were great. We already decided we would come back to try more items, then Flore came up and handed us a small gift card for our troubles. I honestly didn't expect it. They didn't really do anything wrong, but that was just so sweet of her! We have gone back many times for brunch in the following months. The hype has not died down. The lines are still out the door. Following visits, we tried their cocktails as well and they are all good. We used our gift card for a pastry and coffee. People are always kind and genuinely seem happy here (it's a big thing if you want your day to start off good!) It's always a wonderful experience here. Only thing that's hard... Response back to Kim... This review was for your Shea location - but after your comments - I'll give both a pass because it really doesn't change your comments to me. Calling customer names may help you feel better but probably not the best approach. I've been to both locations in Maui -and often over the years and we heard there was a 3rd location. When you closed your Gilbert location-we thought you just had your Shea location. Kim- I didn't make anything up and in fact it was you I believe that I spoke with who gave me those facts you accused me of making up. The woman I spoke with said she was one of the owners. I also have been to the CA locations that you said didn't make it due to Covid and quality control issues. You also told me you could change the recipe as you noted in your comments to me. it was why given the surprisingly lack of quality/taste we thought maybe you had changed something. Maybe it was an off day in the kitchen- kind of like your attitude - hardly the Aloha Spirit we are used to. Aloha back at you and you sound kind of Karenish that you accused me of... You might think of an attitude adjustment and maybe taste your product to assure it meets your stated standards. We had a terrific experience again tonight. We deliberately set out to dine at Maui Fish House tonight to support Shane and his incredible staff in their "reopening" event. The food is delicious, the service great and really the only changes are some dishes renamed in concert with the new Maui Fish House branding. I encourage you to add Maui Fish House to your dining experience routine soon. We observed a brisk and steady take out stream of customers but I advocate that you treat yourself and sit in their outdoor section! Would give a lesser rating if possible. Have been a regular customer for many years, but will not return. Staff were standing around chatting and food was eventually delivered cold on a dirty plate that looked unwashed. We mentioned to the staff that there was an odor of sewage in the dining area and server looked as us blankly, shrugged and walked away, only to return to chatting with other staff and checking their phone. I had a really poor experience at the Coconut Fish Cafe recently. I ordered fish tacos and a side of shrimp, but unfortunately, the shrimp tasted like rubber, and the taco was tough, with bland fish. Overall, I can't say I'd recommend this place, as it seems that their overall quality has been negatively impacted since COVID. read more

Place was awesome, the fish tacos where great, the best fish tacos I have had in Arizona so far, the only reason I am not giving five stars is because the dining room was so-so, it was lunch rush hours and would have hoped to be able to find a clean seat some place but all the available tables needed cleaning read more

We have loved Coconuts for years so we're pleased to see the menu hasn't changed. I always get fish taco because they are so good! I see other food that looks great but can never seem to pass up the fish tacos. The staff is always friendly, welcoming and there for anything you need. read more

Maui is absolutely GOATED. My rec is to split the shrimp and the steak tacos with your lover for a simple date spot. The shrimp skewers are also fire! Management and staff are also super accommodating and friendly! Sitting outside also makes for a nice touch during the experience. read more

Yummy! The fish tacos here are phenomenal! So tasty and fresh! The mango salsa is so good it should be served on everything. If I had one complaint it would be the parking situation, it is not easy to find parking near the business, but it's not so bad it would keep me away. read more
