Key highlight points; 1) food was delicious 2) ambiance needs work 3) server was mediocre at best 1) Okay so the biggest thing at a restaurant is the food which was quite tasty! After snacking on the pita chip things that come on the table (delicious) and getting the fried calamari (nicely crunchy, a little chewy though), we didn't want big dinners. I got the blt sandwich with fries (very good) and boyfriend got the bacon blue cheese burger (also delicious and tender and juicy). All good stuff. My friend at the table got the Oreo chocolate mousse dessert which was excellent- so good. 2) I hate to say that the vibe we got was that they're trying to be classy/upscale and it's not really working. They had jazzy music and the servers were very well dressed which kind of clashed with the layout of the restaurant. It felt like a regular store front in a strip mall- it could have been a clothing store, but they chose to put in tables and chairs. There was no separations or dividers or anything so it made the space feel small. Not s huge deal though. 3) Not much to say about the server beyond she never introduced herself and then she seemed completely disinterested in helping our table and just wanted us to leave. She would ask if we needed anything but he body language and facial expressions said she didn't want us to say that we did need something, haha. I came to this place for a buffet type party so tried a lot of things. I was very impressed, but I didn't know until I came for a meal how really excellent this place was. It was over a year later that a group of us defaulted to Café Meza when we found the restaurant close by needed us to have a reservation. We were so glad that they did. My favorite thing here is Chicken Kabobs. The Chicken needs no salt or spice. It is perfectly done; a hint of sweet, something unknown and wonderful, yet not sugary; another spice taking over where that hint of sweet left off. Tender, grilled, deliciousness. Surprisingly more tender and flavorful than the steak Kabob which is also great. Everything is very simply prepared, with very natural spicing and cooking methods; achieving flavor from grills and a touch of this and a dash of that that you can;t place, but realize that you must have it again. Vegetables Al-dente alongside my kabobs with a really nice sauce to dip them in. The rice; OH the rice! At first bite, you're thinking that you need something more and then the afterflavors set in; basmati and something (the owner and Chef told me but I won't reveal), that rice is a must and it will surprise you that you may very well eat the entire portion. No borrowed and overdone extravagance in the cooking - just excellent combinations of unique spices and flavors. Very unique. One of my favorites! read more

Five (5) years ago I discovered this wonderful restaurant and became a regular. However, I had one isolated event w/a impolite waiter and a change to my favorite dish and quickly became disenchanted with the place. Management tried to smooth things over, but the damage had been done. Well, I stopped by yesterday and they have been restored to my list of greatness. I have been here numerous times and have never been disappointed with the food or staff. You can't go wrong with the Mango Chicken, Crab Cakes, Fried Calamari or something I just tried as an appetizer called Chipotle Balls (I think). This was one of the most flavorful experiences that I have had the pleasure of tasting. Our waiter Mr. Ricardo service was impeccable. My husband had a pear martini & I had a strawberry & ginger beer mule, both were well balanced with flavor & spirit. The appetizers were more than enough for my family of 4. My husband had the stuffed chicken, my kids has a pasta dish and I had the pecan crusted salmon, they were all exquisite. The portions were so big, we are taking half of it home. We planned on going so many times and I am so mad at myself that i waited so long, this place is AWESOME!!!!! (I could add more exclamations but I wont lol) First, the hostess was so nice, while we waited for our table. The most important part, THE FOOOD (mouth watering) I ordered the Spicy Lamb Rice, it was nothing like I imagined it appearance wise and im glad, this was so much better!! It was a mountain of rice and lamb topped with almond slivers, walnuts, and raisins. Then they hand you a side of the broth the lamb was cooked in so you can pour it over your rice if you want to, which you should, why wouldn't you? Located in a strip mall on Westheimer, but what isn't, this is a great Mediterranean restaurant with some extra flavors thrown in. When you sit down they bring the best pita chips that I've ever had with olive oil and seasoning. Yummy, yummy. We ordered Hummus as an appetizer. It was absolutely delicious. For my entree, I had the falafel sandwich...one of my favorite sandwiches in the world, when done correctly. This one was done correctly, and more! It was flavorful, the falafel was cooked correctly - crispy on the outside and moist in the center, with tahini and fresh veggies in a grilled wheat pita. YUMMY! This is one of my favorite restaurants to go to, bar none. The waitstaff is on top of things, always refilling drinks without asking, regularly checking without overdoing it, and the food is superior to most places. The chicken is juicy and tender and everything tastes fresh. Their signature dish is the mango stuffed chicken breast and it's exquisite! This place is freaking fantastic! Portions are HUGE! 2 people can easily share an entree. First we started off with the almond crusted brie and then I ordered the mango stuffed chicken and my sister ordered the blackened shrimp pasta but substituted chicken apple sausage instead of the shrimp. For a place that isn't on Hillcroft or way out on Westheimer where there are a bunch of other middle eastern places just before you reach Highway 6, I was very impressed with their kebabs. I had their ground beef (kubideh) kebab, and found it to have the right balance of spices to bring more flavor than I've normally found in them. Also, as a fusion restaurant, they make great American foods, such as their delicious tomato basil soup. Despite being close to some very expensive dining options, Cafe Mezza is very reasonably priced for the quality of food you get. I've only been once, but I definitely want to give them another shot soon. read more

Really amazing food. I had mango stuffed chicken and my husband has garlic butter chicken. Food was full of flavor and cooked to perfection. We also had chicken tortilla soup which was delicious. I would have given 5 stars but they should have offered bread with the dishes like most Mediterranean places do. That was the only thing my husband was bummed out about. My husband and I went to Mezza Grille for the first time on Friday and it was phenomenal. I made a reservation the day before, not knowing how busy it would be on a Friday night (especially the Friday before Valentine's Day), and our table was already set and ready to enjoy the complimentary bread/chips with seasoned dipping oil. Surprisingly, the place had a lot of available seating around the time we went, 6:30pm. The ambience is nice with dim lighting. It's perfect for date night. They also have a nice patio area outside to dine at. My husband ordered the Lemon Butter Fish & Shrimp Platter and I ordered the Lemon Butter Chicken Pasta. Both entrees came out quickly and tasted fantastic! The portions are huge and we easily got two meals out of each of our entrees. It was one of the best dinners we've had. Both of my close friends loved the curry chicken pasta, which comes with angel hair. I thought the curry sauce needed a thicker pasta since it was a bit soggy in my opinion. What a awesome little place. I came here on a Friday night and they had a small band playing. Very simple and straight to the point type of place. Nothing over the top and just simply GREAT food. Their stuff from the grill was great I had their hen and a kabob dish. Very well seasoned and the staff was attentive. You can't find a thing wrong with this place.
