Awesome place, awesome food, awesome staff. What more could you want? I've been here a couple times previously and never been disappointed. This time things were just a little defirrent. My friend gotten the two piece I think she ordered two thighs, but looking at it they looked like they weren't fully developed. I've always ordered the chicken wrap with onion rings and Hot Dang, let me tell you I think they upped it a notched because I literally thought smoke was coming out of my ears...lol. I love their onion rings! It's not extra if you wanted rings instead of fries which is always a thumbs up in my book. There is one thing though... They don't really have a wait staff. They'll bring your food and after that you're on your own. The only thing about that is when you need a refill you have to go up to the cashier area and if they are busy it just makes things a bit disorderly. O.K. I love chicken, but it has to be good chicken. Hot Dang! This is good chicken. We had the 3 piece tenders, and the chicken was tender and juicy inside, with a great thinly crisped coating. We had the Buttermilk Ranch, Southern Fried and Crazy Hot. The two basic spices were delicious, and the Crazy Hot (ghost pepper) was spicy as expected, but it was a great flavor and not so hot that it couldn't be enjoyed. The Homemade Chicken Biscuit was delight. The biscuit compliment, rather than overwhelming the chicken, and there was such a thick piece of chicken that you couldn't enjoy the biscuit. I've eaten here quite a few times before covid. I live across town so I haven't been able to visit since then. I loved it so much that the last time my mom visited from NC I brought her here as soon as she got off the plane bc I loved the chicken so much. I decided to eat here today since I haven't had it in a while and I was very disappointed. The had jumbo ranch batter chicken tenders that were mediocre at best. There was sooooo much grease that I had to use a handful of napkins to wipe as they were making my fries soggy. The fries were not all that great either. Got the Nashvillan which was messy but oh so yummy, same with the mac and cheese it wasn't a dry or overdone just a great cheesy mac! I'm very glad that we were able to try Nashbird. I've heard nothing but great things about their entire menu! I've been wanting to try something new and why not start with a great restaurant located in the heart of Oklahoma. The exterior was very beautiful. I decided to get their 3 jumbo wings with a side of fries and a side of their mac and cheese. I did have to pay additional for their mac and cheese so be aware. I got their leve 2 wings, Kickin' -- which left a tingly sensation around my lips. They were very juicy and huge. I was surprised that I finished all 3 of them. The fries had a nice crunch to them and so did the mac and cheese. It was so creamy and smooth, just how I like it. Not pictured was my boyfriends chicken wrap. No A/C. Overpriced mediocre chicken with a fake gluten free menu. They stopped serving gluten free chicken tenders months ago and have yet to update their menu. This left us to have to get an overpriced McDonald's salad with half a chicken breast on it. We left still hungry. The workers complain they work in a sweat shop because the management cannot fix the A/C in the place. Hopefully you guys see this and keep driving to a better spot. Their bone in chicken was some of the best I'd ever had. It makes me sad that they only offer boneless chicken items now. They just don't hit the same. I am going to give this a 5 star review because I had a superb experience that exceeded my expectation. Chef Marc, who is the brains behind this restaurant, has hit a triple that will become a homerun if this place can survive the location. I hope it does!!!!!!! The basic details: I walked in, received a friendly greeting and a menu, and was informed you order at the counter and they bring your food to you. Perfect. I scanned the menu. Easy to understand and not complicated, found what I wanted and ordered. I had a white meat boneless grilled basket with onion rings and mac n cheese. I ordered it the Chirp heat and asked for Kickin' (the next level up) sauce on the side, and paid for an extra side of pickles as I adore dill pickles. It took a little over 5 minutes and my food was brought to me. I drove home (took a little over ten minutes) and could not wait to dive into my meal. I did not check to see if the order was correct. I opened the container and the chicken breasts looked perfectly cooked, the onion rings were spot on with the coating and the mac n cheese was in a separate container. Perfect. And they not only gave me a side of Kickin' sauce, but also the dry rub! Taste: I cannot say enough about the onion rings. They were still crispy. Every bite was perfect. I love onion rings. My favorites are, in no order, The Mule, Johnnie's, and Sonic from the 1990s. These were as good or better. They were fantastic without ketchup, with ketchup, or with mustard. I was shocked at the crispiness of the breading, yet tenderness of the onion. Remember, it was 10-15 minutes old. The chicken - juicy. I think it had been brined. The chirp sauce is not hot so I was glad I got Kickin' and it was great heat that still had flavor. The sauce is oil based which made me glad since I do not like mayo based sauces. Mac n cheese - good. Solid. I only ate one bite since I do not eat carbs. My kid will love it. Pickles - HOLY COW!!!!!!!!!! Every delectable bite was crunchy and the seasoning was perfect. Nashbird- what a fun lil spot! I am not a fried chicken expert, but I thought the "hot dang" chicken was really good! I have tried both the chicken basket and the tenders. I liked the tenders better- no getting the meat off the bone and a better breading:meat ratio in my opinion. The fried pickles were excellent. The pickle ranch was really good as well. They offer enough side dish options that everyone should find something they like. I can't lie- my favorite part about this place are the wine slushies. The moscato is a little too sweet for me, but the rose is great, and if you mix the flavors together the outcome is pretty fantastic! Positives: 1. Tasty food 2. Cute patio 3. Friendly folks Downfalls: 1. I hate places where you order from a counter. Especially when there is a bar. It gets confusing for everyone. Where do I order my drink? Can I open a tab? Do I have to walk to the counter every time to order another drink? It can really take away from the social part of your dining experience. In their defense, the bartenders have been extra helpful and seem to work the room to make sure everyone is happy. But still a confusing part of the concept. Also the counter ordering has lead to some long lines that take up half the restaurant and make it awkward for the people trying to eat with a line of people next to them. 2. They are usually out of half the menu it seems. Hopefully this will improve when they have a better gauge for their demand. I have dined several times with some disappointed friends who couldn't get what they came there for :( I would check their Instagram and/or call ahead if you are looking for something specific! Especially if its late in the day. Also, although it says open til midnight... I've come at 1030 pm and they were closed... 3. The slush machine isn't always as frozen as it should be. I've heard so many good things about this place and my boyfriend and I couldn't wait to try it! Unfortunately we had very high expectations that weren't met. It's in sort of a hidden location and it's so cute! I like the privacy of it. It's a very neat building, it looks like a house and super intriguing! The staff was very nice and helpful. We informed them it was our first time and they did not hesitate to help us and give us suggestions. We decided on the tender basket and the wing basket. We sat outside because it was such a nice day! A few of the tables were dirty but we did find a clean one! There was a little bit of a lengthy wait but it was bearable. A group that ordered after us got their food first which kind of irritated us because we were starving and hangry lol. Our chicken was pretty bland. The flavor was not there. Grabbing dinner with my best friends before I had to work. We all like to try new places so we chose Nashbird. Walking into the establishment it wasn't very busy, a couple table inside and a couple outside. This is another one of the new restaraunt where you walk up order first then find a table. The woman taking our order did promise that they will still wait on us and take care of our drinks. Ms L order a starter of Hot Mac n Cheese poppers (6.00) surprisingly very yummy and the came in this cute little deep fryer basket. We all order the Hot Chicken Basket [white meat breast quarter] (9.95) order mine a moderately spicy, and Mr and Mrs L order their normal, it comes with two sides I picked potato salad and mac&cheese. Unfortunately, I think Nashbird has some kinks to work out...which is okay, considering they just opened. If you're an experienced hot chicken eater, you will likely be as disappointed in Nashbird as I was. I will happily wait several months for them to improve, and then will be back to try. Details below: 1. The location is where Hillbilly Po'boys used to be. Small interior, but cool decor and I love the wood exterior they've done. 2. The staff was SUPER friendly. We interacted with several people and all were very nice and accommodating. 3. Lets get to the food. -We started with the fried pickles, which were excellent. Definitely would order these again. -The beer/drink selection was great. I had the rosè slushee, which was not very slushee. Would have liked to have this more icey and not so thin. Great flavor and a nice kick to it, though. -The sides. Fries and onion rings looked standard, nothing special or unique. The macaroni and cheese was very rich and creamy, but quite bland. It almost tasted like white sauce without much cheese or saltiness. The cucumber and watermelon salad perplexed me. It was very heavy on the vinegar and almost tasted like pickled cukes and w'melon, not a refreshing light salad. -Most importantly, THE CHICKEN!!!! It was juicy and crispy, but in no way "hot chicken." There was very little spice and the breading was actually sweet, as if sugar or syrup is used in the seasoning. We were offered a shaker of extra seasoning, but it was never brought. I did see the cook using a brush to coat the chicken and bread (if a sandwich was ordered), but I'm not sure what was in the mix, because the chicken wasn't saucy. Anyway, not hot chicken, especially not Nashville or Memphis hot chicken as it's known. I would call it regular southern fried chicken. Nashbird should take some pointers from Gus's in Tennessee or Fort Worth, because THAT is true, authentic hot chicken. I've had Nashbird a few times since they opened and each experience has gotten better! Right when Nashbird opened I had just returned from a trip Nashville and trying hot chicken there for the first time. Nashbird stacks up well to those places and is very similar. The chicken is very good, I just have to be careful to order it too hot that I won't enjoy. The sides, fries, onion rings and Mac are good. We checked Nashbird out when it first opened and honestly, it wasn't that great. However, not long after, they revamped their recipe and menu and it's absolutely amazing!! I know that they are known for their Nashville hot chicken but if you're trying to be somewhat healthy, their grilled chicken salad is absolutely amazing as well!!! One of my faves. They have cheap beer selections, as well as their delicious frozen drinks. Although they are a smaller restaurant, they are more than willing to accommodate larger groups as well. In fact, they decided to sponsor multiple Tottenham soccer watch parties for my boyfriend and his friends, and are so friendly to everyone they meet.
