Came through town with the fam and stopped here for lunch. Have kids menu and great selection. Chicken sammich was great. I had the habanero hot with slaw. Chicken was fresh, delicious crisp on the outside. Slaw added freshness and bun was light and didn't detract from the main attraction. Decor was neat. Downstairs room was really cool. I dig their location. They have a very cool patio and even have trivia out there some days. They make pretty decent drinks too! They even have a frose... which is random but great for when we come with the guys but don't want to drink a bunch of beers with them. But the food... the inconsistency on their spice levels makes me not want to eat here. I love spicy food, but I don't feel like I should have to roll the dice on what my chicken is going to taste like. If I ordere level 3 I don't want it to be worried if it is going to be a 4 or a 2 today when I just really wanted some LEVEL 3 chicken. I'm not sure if their spice is in a shaker, and they can't get their employees trained on this... or if they really don't care. I ordered the Hot Dang salad and thought the chicken was delicious. I love spicy food so I decided to get the third hottest out of four levels. I've seen some others say that it wasn't as spicy as they would have hoped, but mine certainly was. It seems that management listened to feedback and upped the ante on us. It was a level of spiciness I would expect from a 3/4 spiciness rating. It was delicious, but was not the long lasting, making you cry for days on end kind of spicy. It was gone after a drink of water and a bite of something else. I actually prefer it this way and think it's perfect as is, or else it would be inedible. I love spiciness for flavor, not pain. If you're in it for the masochism, you might want to go somewhere else. Flavor wise, they got it right. I suggest getting some of their pickle ranch for your chicken, just in case you need a little something to cool it down. They definitely have quite a few options to choose from, but I personally feel as if they need to add more gluten free options beyond just a salad. As far as sides go, I would say that their potato salad, coleslaw, fries, and macaroni need improvement, but their onion rings are awesome. Sides have to be purchased separately, so until these are improved I would recommend opting out for everything except the onion rings. Overall their building is super cute and homey, making for a good date spot. We chose the "Kickin" Heat Level and honestly could have gone up a Level or two! We also chose the pickle Ranch as our dipping sauce. Pretty good combo with the chicken! I thought the Mac N Cheese Sticks could easily have been something from the State Fair...which is always good! All I have to say is YUM! My husband and I visited Nashbird on a Saturday around 2:30pm so it wasn't very busy and we didn't have to wait in line to order which was awesome. I was hungry but not starving so I ordered 2 ala carte tenders "kickin" which is the 2nd level of hotness. To my surprise they were fairy large pieces of chicken each served with a piece of white bread and a pickle chip on top, this was actually a lot of for for $5! I thought the "kickin" heat level was perfect for me, slightly spicy but not leaving my mouth on fire. The pickle ranch was a great accompaniment! I also tried the honey mustard which wasn't as thick of a dipping sauce, it was more of a vinaigrette with a tang from apple cider vinegar. The HM was good but if you cant decide go with the ranch. My husband ordered the hot chicken sandwich fried "hot dang" or level 3 and dang was it hot! The chicken was perfectly crispy and the slaw and pickles helped cut through the heat and added another texture to the sandwich. I thought it was yummy but don't think I could handle eating the whole thing at the "hot dang" level, my husband was totally sweating while eating it too but he loves spicy food so he didn't complain! We shared the onion rings and the mac and cheese as well. The onion rings were lightly fried and crispy and the mac was creamy and cheesy just as it should be! I also had a dry rosé slushie which was surprisingly not super sweet and actually pretty strong! I am normally a one and one frozen drink girl because of the sweetness and although this wasn't immediately sweet it would be hard for me to drink more than one. Lovely location on the train tracks the train is currently going by an you can't feel it as much as you would expect . It has a lovely urban feel, super calming . The people at the POS's talk slow aN are very relaxed . Not saying that's a bad thing but maybe a quicker pace to move the line on quicker ? The restaurant is located in a renovated house offering both indoor and outdoor seating, which gives Nashbird a unique and fun atmosphere. They have a decent amount of meal choices as well as a drink menu. I ordered the buttermilk grilled chicken sandwich with mac 'n cheese, and it was delicious. The sandwich had a lot of toppings on it and it was marinated really well. I was pleasantly surprised by the large quantity of the mac that came as a side as well. My friends ordered the hot chicken sandwich and got the second level (out of four levels) of heat. Our waitress warned us that they just recently got some new cayenne peppers for their sandwiches, as previous customers had complained that the sandwiches weren't spicy enough. But not heeding her warning, they stuck with the second level of heat. And they said that it was very very hot. Like so hot that they almost couldn't eat it. Heat level (it's made with ghost pepper). But moving on from my self deprivation lifestyle via spicy food. Get here early if you're eyeing the chicken biscuit sandwich because the biscuits are limited aka made fresh daily. But if you are a late arriving, fear not! For this menu is just smothered in delicious chicken options. To start, the classic fried chicken (bone in or tenders) is second to none and the jumbo tenders are truly jumbo. It's not the "jumbo tenders" that are just extra breaded and have Crusties all over these are the real deal! Next let's talk sides, the fries are classic thick cut but the real eye catcher is the Mac n cheese. It's so gooey and thick yet smooth and topped with shredded cheese and bread crumbs that are quite figuratively the icing on the cake. This was my last meal in Oklahoma City, and boy was it a good one. Stopped here today for lunch around 1pm and got the Jumbo Tenders ($10.25) at the Hot Dang level of spice. I think this is the perfect level to get if you're looking for a good kick with a bit of burn but not really ready to go overboard with discomfort. I was very satisfied with the level of spice and had some minor discomfort/burn but it was the right amount haha. Aside from that, this is just some really good hot chicken! I've only had hot chicken one other time prior to this in Nashville and I have to say Nashbird did not disappoint - it pretty much lived up to how good I remember Nashville hot chicken being. The jumbo tenders came along with 2 sides and I got french fries and mac & cheese. Both didn't blow me away, but both the fries and mac & cheese were solid side choices. The space was super nice, there was plenty of seating at 1pm while still having a good amount of people eating, and the service was great. Found this place near the OU Medical Center area as I am always open to great chicken and this place didn't disappoint. It's definitely a twist to regular fried chicken fingers as they do a Nashville hot chicken rendition on their tenders, wings, and chicken. I ordered the Jumbo Tenders with XXX rating and though it was really hot it was tolerable through their organic cayenne pepper and habanero rub. 3 tenders is definitely enough as they are pretty big. The environment is nice as well with inside and outside seating and the music in there was jamming too! Not a loud music but in undertone to the environment. The chicken is definitely 5 stars. I had the fries as my side and they were just regular same old fries hence the 4 star rating, they may have other sides that could be delicious. After finally acquiescing to my girlfriend's pleas and heading to the spot (right next to Iguana Lounge across from S&B's) we ordered a bucket at the Chirp level of spice. My gf had been told that anything more could be very spicy and was a bit nervous. The chirp level really wasn't spicy at all to my taste, but man was that chicken delicious. Skin is just the right amount of crispy and the meat is tender and juicy. I found myself returning no more than a week later for a solo lunch. Had a basket at the kickin' spice level which was just a bit spicy, not overwhelming to my taste, and just as delicious as the time before. Order at the counter service works because the staff remained attentive. Add to all of this a kick ass happy hour, above average bar selection, and the best fried pickles in OKC. 5 stars read more
