Good neighborhood Thai place. The atmosphere: awesome! Great updated Americanized thai place (if there is such a thing and you are into it). There is a nice bar area with tvs which is cool. It has a very modern feel to it and the place is huge. The food: A bit of a downfall here. I had the combo pad see ew and there was sooooo much salt in there. Portions were average. Good amount of meat. Pretty much every bite had meat but again a bit salty. A good variety of food was available as well. The drinks: wine and beer. Standard restaurant prices. So, my standard line that I'd say when going to a Thai restaurant is "Let's Thai one on" and at Natalee Thai, this holds true. We had been shopping at one of my favorite Los Angeles restaurant supply store in the area and when we passed this modern-looking building, I had to check it out on Yelp. Several of my Yelp Friends had dined here before and so I felt that even with a 3+1/2 star average, it would be worthwhile to check it out. We parked in their private lot (left side of building if facing it from Venice Blvd) and entered through their front door. The brightly colored décor somehow reminded me of the 60's with its green, orange, fuchsia and molded plastic chairs. Service was friendly and slow-paced. Although, our server seemed like she hurried us to place our order and ignored our request to have the kitchen prepare a dish for take out toward the end of our meal. The take out dish was soggy by the time we were ready to leave and they didn't even offer to remake it. We started with sharing a couple of big bottles of Singha Thai beer and then ordered a couple of glasses of sweetened iced Thai tea. THE FOOD: - Golden Wings: Chicken wings stuffed with silver noodles, mushrooms, cabbage and deep fried until golden. Served with sweet and sour Thai sauce. The wings were quite tasty but, the stuffing wasn't what I have seen before as it seemed to be more like a forcemeat spreckled with cabbage and mushrooms. It was almost spongy in texture. $7.95 - Pad See Ew: Wok-fried chicken with egg and broccoli with Natalee Thai brown sauce over flat rice noodles. This dish was okay and was sort of bland to our taste buds as we kicked it up with some Sriracha. The noodles appeared to be more broken and sort of gummy. $10.50 - Curry Beef Panang: Sliced beef cooked tender in a Panang coconut curry sauce with kaffir-lime leaves. This curry was denoted as spicy but even for my chili sensitive palate, I didn't even taste or feel any spiciness. There was a light layer of oiliness sitting on top of the curry. However, it went well with the steamed white rice. $11.25 - Duck Delight: Steamed half duck infused with ginger and green onions then rubbed in Chinese herb-soy sauce. To seal in the flavors and juiciness, the half duck was deep fried. We liked this dish while it was served hot from the kitchen, but as it cooled, the meat became dry. $14.50 Natalee Thai offered good or average tasting Thai food. Service was a tad bit slow and we were dismayed that our server seemed unconcerned about putting in our take out order along with our lunch order. read more

Not bad. This is one of those places where maybe 40% of the dishes are fantastic, 40% are "meh", and 20% are "no thanks". So do yourself a favor, and read the meaningful reviews for the reliable dishes before ordering. For example, can't stand the satay. Satay shifts by the region of Southeast Asia, and I'm used to a more curry-flavored Thai style. However, theirs simply sucks. There's no profundity to the flavor, and it just tastes wrong. The Siam spring rolls, on the other hand, were very decent. I had one of their fish curries, I believe it's called the "Kaeng Tai Pla", which was very, very good. I'd come back for this alone. The coconut rice dessert was mixed for me. First of all, I don't think it goes well at all with the longan (think miniature lychees) that garnish the plate, and the presentation looks like someone vomited cream of wheat onto a plate. It looked horrible. However, the coconut rice portion of it was excellent.... but here was simply too much of it. Dessert is great when it's portioned as a finisher, but this thing was portioned as a prisoner's last entree. Too much! I'll definitely give it another try, but for now, I consider it just fair. read more

LA is home to a lot of Thai restaurants, and after awhile they all seem to blend together. So I definitely noticed that Natalee Thai is different. It's ALWAYS packed, while across the street the very well known Thai Original BBQ, an LA chain that has several locations is nearly empty. Natalee Thai is also kitty corner from another Thai restaurant, Treehouse Thai, that specializes in vegetarian cuisine. Both the times I visited recently, the dining room was packed with several people waiting and stacks of takeout orders at the front counter. The staff work exceptionally fast, so that your phone-in order pretty much is ready in 10-15 minutes. I also walk by at least 3 times a week since it's in my neighborhood and see the place is always full. One taste of Natalee Thai and I could see why this place was out besting the other Thai restaurants on the same block. I always go for pad see ew noodles and theirs wasn't oily, had great flavor, and a hefty portion for $10. The Thai Original BBQ version I had weeks prior couldn't compare with the flavor. I returned to Natalee Thai to try their pad Thai, since they make their own pad Thai sauce from scratch here. It was pretty darn good as well, but not as impressive to me as the pad see ew. Pretty good! I ordered the spicy monsoon noodles for takeout and asked for it extra extra spicy. Most restaurants are hesitant to actually make their dishes super spicy when asked, but this place delivered. I will note that the portion is smaller and the price more expensive than what I'd get back home. Overall I'm happy with the dish and the spice level, and looking forward to trying their curries next. read more

As far as Thai food goes, this place takes the cake! I first came accross this place when I ate dinner here with friends from undergrad. Ever since, I've been coming back. My favorite dish is the seafood soup, with a side of white rice. Another great dish is the chicken pad thai, it comes with a peanut sauce that's delicious. There are other dishes that come out in elaborate displays, such as the chicken that's served to you while still on fire. I will be trying that next, so stay tuned for an update. read more

Cute little outdoor space. Only thing missing was heat lamps. It was cold af last night. The food was delish. We ordered Kha moo and the piece of meat was bigger than my head! I definitely recommend it if you plan on sharing it and there will be leftovers because it's A LOT. The sauce gave it a lot of flavor and the meat fell right off the bone. Pad see ew was good. Geez this place is busy! I guess that's expected for a popular place. We had to wait a bit for a table to open up during a late lunch. Because it was so busy, one of the first things I noticed was how noisy this place gets. But I think there is something going on with the acoustics of the building that amplifies the noise. Ever since I moved to the Palms/Culver City area, my boyfriend and I have been passing by Natalee Thai a lot. We eventually came here on a Sunday night for dinner. The place was pretty busy when we arrived. I like how this restaurant looks very modern compared to other Thai restaurants. We ordered the Pad See Ew and Jade Curry. The Pad See Ew was okay--the sauce wasn't as sweet as it should've been. The curry was flavorful and had a nice spiciness to it, but I would've preferred it to be a bit creamier. Overall, the food was good, but not great. We also ordered a glass of Thai Iced Tea, which was delicious. Service was okay. The staff was friendly enough and the food came out pretty fast. Parking was easy because they have a decent-sized parking lot. This wouldn't be my go-to restaurant for Thai food, but I wouldn't mind coming back again since the food and prices are decent, and it's close to where I live. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would! We sat down to eat and my friend suddenly sees a giant cockroach crawling near our table and then moved up the wall along side our table. They told us "that's not a cockroach, it's a water bug!" They at least gave us 50% off the bill but I will NEVER go back there again. Not a favorite. I got their version of a red curry, was very oily, to the point that I couldn't finish it. I feel overall the portions are not worth their price (red curry, chicken pad Thai, and chicken sate). We came here many years ago, liked the food, but the acoustics are pretty bad, and we couldn't carry on a decent conversation. We never came back, until last week. Looking for a place to get good takeout for a special occasion. There are a few tables outside, and that would have been our preference, but all were occupied, so we ate inside. The tables were spaced well, and they took covid precautions by leaving some tables unoccupied. We ordered chicken panang curry, pad thai with chicken, and the lunch special with a quarter BBQ chicken (they only have white meat) and BBQ ribs. Service was good. All of the food was great. My favorite was the falling off the bone ribs. Portions were generous, and we decided that we had found what we were looking for. On 6-5-20, I ordered food from Natalee Thai, a restaurant where I've eaten many times. The food was delivered warm and on time (early) by Grub Hub. However, the coating on the Orange Chicken was soggy, the dish lacked the usual amount of chicken and vegetables and was generally dry, as was the Pad Thai, which also lacked the usual garnish of peanuts and had almost nothing in it. The meal tasted as if it had been sitting around for some time and warmed up just prior to delivery. We started eating it but ended up throwing it away. I find it pretty appalling than any restaurant would serve a soggy, warmed up meal to a loyal customer--or to anyone. Had this happened at any other time, I would have returned the meal and requested a freshly cooked meal. I feel that Natalee has taken advantage of customers who were trying to support their business during this difficult time, knowing that customers are not willing to go inside the store and are counting on no-contact delivery. Shame on you, Natalee! And, yes, I did contact Natalee, waited a week, and never received a reply. Thus, this review... By the way, we had the opposite experience with Emerald Thai, just down the block from Natalee on Venice Bl. Emerald's no-contact delivery food was freshly prepared and thoroughly excellent! Never again. Absolutely disgusting. I should have listened to the other bad reviews. Ordered the chow Mein with chicken and the Natalee Delight. Chow Mein was the closest thing to being edible. However, no flavor just tasted like salt and the noodles were over cooked. The Natalee Delight was down right gross. I can't even explain the taste of the beef sate. The Siam spring roll wasn't crunchy as all and was very chewy as if it's been sitting out all day. Thailand shrimp cake... don't even get me started. The Westside Wontons.. the wrapper itself was chewy and the filling was HARD, like it was completely dried out. So beyond disappointed. Threw everything out after I tried each item. I feel so entirely gross just for eating that much. I don't know who these people are who gave great reviews. They must not have tastebuds. I wouldn't eat here again if you actually paid me. Wonderful, yet slightly loud atmosphere, but the flavors in the foods were rather bland. The thai iced tea wasn't really sweet, which was fine with me, but several of us didn't enjoy it as much. This place serves drinks, which is a plus, and it will make the bland food taste uh... not bland? Although Thai is in the name of this restaurant, they serve sushi and rolls. Quite interesting.. trying too hard to make it quite the hip place, huh? Oh, also their lunch special menu is on a separate page than its regular menu, and we got that page on a weekend, which totally tricked us at first. Lunch specials here aren't applicable over the weekend, so receiving that page with the main menu was rather annoying. They also give almond cookies and fortune cookies here. read more

The food portions are always decent. My biggest issue comes ordering the Hi-yo Silver and the Pad Thai. I have been a regular customer for years, 4-6 times a month. The dishes are $14-$15 dollars. Which is fine when ordering take out. BUT! They literally ONLY give you 4! Yes! 4 small shrimps, and what seems to be dark meat chicken for these particular dishes. I'm sure they add "some" chicken breast, but for the most part it's dark meat. Each time I order from here it's close to $40 bucks after the service fee, delivery fee, tax and food. Not including the tip. So yes, it would be nice to get more shrimp. Do I recommend this place... yes! The food is always tasty and the staff is always nice. Tip tip tip! They deserve it. read more

Although I got extremely sick last time I ate there I am giving it 3 stars because I have been a regular there for many years. So much so that I come from Orange County just to eat there. I must say that last time I got so sick after eating there if I even think of the place now I get nauseated. The food there is really delicious. We love it but last time it was horrible. The friend rice was good but I'm sure it was the chicken appetizer that got me sick. It wasn't even hot when we got it and something seemed off but I ate it anyway, I think it was old. Anyway, after I ate there my stomach started to viciously cramp and I was nauseated worse than I have ever been in my life. I didn't think I would make it home. It was such a long drive with traffic and my stomach was so bad that I couldn't tell if I needed to throw up or use the restroom. I went straight to bed when I got home and my husband who ate with me said his stomach was uneasy too. I should have known better because looking back when I got there I had to use the restroom. Their restroom reeked of urine, it was not clean and I thought to myself if any worker comes out of here and not wash their hands only god knows... but my rule of thumb is usually if the restroom isn't clean then usually the kitchen isn't either. I started to think I wondered what Gordon Ramsey would find here if he ransacked the kitchen, probably the old chicken I ate. If a place does not care to have a clean restroom then then probably doesn't care much about the kitchen. I sadly doubt I'll go back after all these years. So, the business left a response here on Yelp that the issue was handled on the night of and would I update my review. No, not it was not. It took my husband forever to get there that night, so he chose not to drive back just to get the brown rice he ordered, and they had no idea I had a used lime in my meal until I left this review after the fact (certainly no one called to deliver a fresh meal for me). So, I have absolutely NO idea what they are talking about with this already resolved/handled/whatever on the night of. Completely and totally untrue.
