Disappointing service on a special occasion. My girlfriend and I had a 7:30 PM reservation to celebrate her birthday. We arrived early, checked in, and were happy to sit at the bar while we waited for our table. Our bar receipt shows we were already settled there by 6:41 PM, 49 minutes before our reservation, so we gave the restaurant plenty of time and flexibility. From where we were sitting, the restaurant certainly did not appear "slammed," as we had been told. I've included a photo taken while we were at the bar that shows what we could see at the time, along with our receipt showing the 6:41 PM timestamp. We also watched a table for two on the patio sit empty for more than 30 minutes while other guests, including walk-ins, were seated. I checked in with the hostess several times to let her know we were still waiting, but each interaction felt dismissive and unwelcoming. There was very little communication about our reservation or when we could expect to be seated. By 7:36 PM, our reservation time had already passed and no one had come to get us. At that point, we decided to leave. As we walked toward the exit, the hostesses were standing near the front talking and laughing. Only as we were walking out did one of them acknowledge our reservation, at which point I told her to cancel it because we were no longer interested in staying. A staff member followed us outside and asked what had happened. We explained that we had been waiting and had watched the same patio table remain vacant for more than half an hour. She then told us that was actually the table they had been preparing to give us. That made the situation even more frustrating. We had been sitting at the bar for nearly an hour watching the table that was supposedly intended for us remain empty, yet nobody communicated that to us or made an effort to seat us until after our reservation time had passed and we were already walking out. She offered us a complimentary appetizer for the inconvenience, which we appreciated. However, by that point, the experience had already put a damper on what was supposed to be a special birthday dinner, so we politely declined. We have enjoyed this establishment in the past, which is why this experience was especially disappointing. We ended up going to another restaurant down the street, where we were immediately welcomed and received excellent service. I hope management reviews what happened that evening and addresses the lack of communication and hospitality at the front of the restaurant. A reservation, especially for a special occasion, should not leave guests feeling ignored or unwelcome. Unfortunately, after this experience, we won't be returning anytime soon.
Food at Nick's is usually very consistent. I typically order the Bistro Plate or some other Meat dish and it is cooked to perfection every time. Their Asparagus fries are also one of my favorites. Service is always intimate and outstanding, servers always seem well seasoned and experienced. I absolutely love the ambiance at Nick's it's very unique and it seems like the restaurant is kept well. I give it four stars only because I feel like their menu has some strengths, but the rest of the food is alright.
I went to Nick's on 2nd for lunch with family that came up from San Diego for a day visit. I have been to Nick's a few times and the food always hits the mark! I have never had a bad meal here. Today I had Cha Cha's Spicy Rigatoni and asked for blackened chicken on the side (we love protein ). It was so fresh, creamy, and cheesy with some Parmesan on top. I usually have the chicken piccata but decided to try this dish today. We also decided on butter cake for a sweet treat after our meal. Our waiter mentioned a lemon cake so of course we had to try that as well. The lemon cake was HUGE! And incredibly delicious. I am not sure if it is a regular menu item but if they mention it while you're there, it is so worth the try! The restaurant can get a little noisy inside but it's manageable. It is always very clean and the staff is really great at taking care of their customers. I would definitely recommend this spot for lunch, dinner, or even just some drinks at the bar.
I thought the staff was a little robotic but they were helpful and attentive. Everyone's food was delicious and filling! I had the fried chicken sammich with fries that were cooked perfectly!! We were a party of four with two appetizers (artichokes and tartar I think) and four entrees. A couple of us took leftovers so the portions were good. The tables are all very close - someone with a disability needs to be extra careful navigating through safely.
Busy even in a Monday but we got in on a bar table top, not my favorite but the service made up for it. Menu had quite the variety but what stood out was a small combo with a petite filet mignon, salad and soup of the day; perfect proportions for my appetite. My filet was cooked to perfection, with great flavor. Seviped eggs as an appetizer were good not fabulous as I had hoped, tasted like egg potato salad but beautifully plated. Hubby had a sirloin steak and baked potato, nothing stood out in his plate. Butter cake was outstanding for dessert. Simply decorated, sestinf inside and out; large bar seating. I would definitely return!
I can't stop thinking about the Original Ribeye Melt! It's cooked to a perfect medium rare, insanely flavorful, and paired with hot, crispy fries. My friend and I made the mistake of sharing one and immediately regretted it. Lesson learned: order your own. The Baby Back Pork Ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and hefty - big enough for 1-2 people to share. The Pan Seared Chilean Sea Bass was firm, flaky, and a rather small portion. I needed more than just a drizzle of that amazing lemon beurre blanc! Save this spot for your next brunch outing or dinner date! The outdoor patio felt calm and cozy, while the candlelit indoors buzzed with energy. The warm, enthusiastic staff made every visit feel welcoming and fun. Final verdict: Order the Original Ribeye Melt & don't bother sharing!
Whoever said Nick's on 2nd has good food, they lied. I ordered the blackened fish sandwich, and it completely lacked flavor and seasoning. It was so bland I had to add salt just to bring it to life. Now, whoever said Nick's has the best butter cake, they were telling the truth! Ooh wee... that butter cake is GOOD. I've had butter cakes all over, and I've always sworn that Mastro's had the best one. Not anymore. Nick's officially takes the crown. The service was great, so I'll be back, but it'll be for the butter cake, not the food.
Tasty or WasteY??? A bit of both. Our first time in. The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful. Such a great vibe, especially for lunch time. I can only imagine how nice the dinner vibe is. My favorite things here, were the chips, salsa and guacamole. The food itself is a bit too technical! Meaning, they are adding way too many extras to try and make it different. Remember that old saying, Less is more! Try a more simple approach, so people aren't scraping ingredients off their food. There was so much added to my meal that I couldn't quite grasp how delicious the meat must have been. The wait staff was great. Very very attentive. Maybe we'll give it a second try, if we come back to Southern California.
Truly one of my favorites! Food is always amazing and service is top notch. Shrimp taquitos and butter cake are a MUST. We put our name on the waitlist around 5:30pm and was seated around 7:13pm on a Saturday night. Honestly not bad at all as we were able to walk around the area while waiting. Can't wait to come back!
The food was amazing but Evan provided the best service EVER!!! We accidentally ordered something we were allergic to and Evan said he wanted us to enjoy our meal and got us a new plate. THANK YOU SO MUCH EVAN YOU ROCK!!!
Nicks is always a five star experience! We had the Chilean Seabass and the San Francisco style cioppino with the most awesome sourdough garlic bread yummy! We had to get another round of bread just to dip in the soup! We never leave enough room for butter cake. I guess I need to get that sometime maybe just as my entire dinner. lol! Our server, Steven was awesome. He was super attentive and very nice. Did a great job!
With one night in Long Beach, so happy we choose Nick's for our get together. Shrimp Taquitos were delicious as was the Scottish Salmon and the center cut filet. Great Mixologist on staff, the martinis were consistent and "on point". Definitely recommend and encourage a reservation - place was at capacity. While it can obviously get a little loud, we opted for an outside table. In hindsight if conversation is center stage, perhaps inside despite the crowd may have been a better choice - as the roadside noise in Long Beach is not for the faint of heart. Ending with service. Having Jonathan take care of us was like winning the lottery, always present when you needed him - but never around when you didn't. 5-star service / 5-star food - will definitely be back and highly recommend.
I love Nick's so when a friend invited me to go out to Long Beach, I recommended this location. This one is in the heart of Belmont Shores. The parking is like any other metro city...street or parking garage. It's got lots of different shops and restaurants nearby. We had a reservation so we were seated quickly. The server was very nice and friendly. She was helpful with selecting options from their menu. We landed on the fried chicken, prime rib dip and the shrimp taquitos. The chicken was crisp, juicy and flavorful. It came with mashed potatoes, biscuit and gravy. The prime rib dip was also good. The bread was notably fresh and soft. The shrimp taquitos were ok. This restaurant is pretty inside. They had a fireplace at the lobby and a pretty big bar at the front. Enjoyed our time here with friends!

Last year we wanted to try Nick's the waitlist was too long and was told to sit at the bar but after 15 mins of being ignored we left... last week we came back for a simple weekday bday dinner, the waitlist was long again so we sat at the bar, service was good and fast but the food was delicious and phenomenal, ordered deviled eggs, shrimp taquito and a burger and the rigatoni, and the butter cake, everything was sooooo good we will definitely be back to try more stuff on the menu! read more

Had a wonderful meal at Nick's. The spinach dip may have been the best I've ever had. I want more! We tried the rib melt and the spicy rigatoni, both were delicious. We also had the butter cake. It was good, but not necessarily any better than some others I've had. The only downfalls of the restaurant were it was super loud inside, so we'd only ever go if we could get a table outside (which we luckily did), and the kids menu is only told verbally and they don't tell you the price up front, so we were shocked when my kid's dinner was $19. At that price I might as well had ordered her an adult portion. Will definitely go back if I'm ever in the area. read more

Service was great, drinks were delicious, food was solid. The Shrimp Taquitos were a highlight. The steak was done well and seasoned perfectly. The vibe is relaxed, hip & brunch friendly. I've usually come here for dinner in the past but happy to add this to my list of brunch places as well. Will definitely be back! read more

Visited Nicks on 2nd for Easter dinner with my Sisters. The food was fabulous, everything we ordered tasted great and came out pretty quick. Food 10/10 The service from our specific server is the reason we will not return. When we first arrived we ordered drinks right away. Both my sisters ordered the Oaxacan old fashioned and I ordered a glass of wine. When the drinks came out, they were all great. I decided to hold my wine until my steak came out. (We hadn't ordered any food yet.) I decided to also enjoy a Oaxacan old fashioned before my meal. It was delicious. I asked Ben our server & he said No. We all thought he was joking tbh. He said, he couldn't serve me two drinks. I had to finish my wine. I let him know I was going to hold it and have it with my steak dinner. He still said no, & didn't offer any other options or suggestions. I felt very uncomfortable & didn't understand why? I just accepted that he denied me from getting the cocktail. Then later when we ordered our entree's I requested for a substitution & I was also told no. Even though I didn't mind the price change. Nor was I given that option. I ended up going with double salad which worked out. I was really surprised & disappointed that I was not able to order more drinks & make substitutions. I'd understand if I was intoxicated but that wasn't the case. This experience left me & my family with a bad taste of disappointment & will not be returning to Nicks on 2nd unfortunately. It's the little things that go a long way. I really do regret not asking to speak to a manager that night. read more

review from october 2023: the perfect celebration spot! i'm not very familiar with the belmont shore area, so i hadn't heard of nick's previously. my husband (fiancé at the time) received a generous gift card to nick's from a client and we were super excited to try something new. we decided to use the card to splurge on an anniversary dinner (11 years dating, 1 year engaged) so i made a reservation through opentable. we parked a short walk down st joseph ave and were seated within moments. it was a warm october night so we didn't mind sitting outside. 2nd street is a bustling and busy place, so keep that in mind if you don't like that type of atmosphere. the waitstaff was incredibly helpful in offering drinks and appetizers based on our initial picks. my husband chose a pint of the draft honey blonde and i enjoyed the tequini (tequila blanco, passionfruit, lemon, agave) the drink was exactly as excellent as imagined - wonderfully tart passionfruit and lemon with a subtly sweetness. appetizer: our appetizer of choice was a plate of the lightly fried devil eggs. this plate will rate as one of the best things we've ever eaten. the combination of textures, flavors, and temperatures made this dish uniquely interesting and delicious. the egg whites are lightly fried and well seasoned with a hefty pile of cool, creamy yolk on top. each egg half sits perched on a structural piping of the egg yolk mixture so that each piece sits upright. each piece is then finished with a pile of crispy, crumbly bacon and chopped chives - simply divine! we seriously contemplated ordering a second plate. entree: i appreciate that the dinner menu is brief; i believe that this speaks to the confidence of the offerings and the talent of the chef. after mulling over the options, my husband chose the bistro plate consisting of a petite filet mignon and an all-dressed baked potato. i ordered the baby back ribs accompanied by a bistro salad and french fries. these meal choices gave us the best of everything! we shared some of my delectable pork ribs: the meat was fall-off-the-bone tender and basted in a sweet, smoky, sticky barbecue sauce. i sampled some of his filet mignon: perfectly medium and perfectly seasoned. it was tender, juicy, and everything you want in a high-quality filet. he ate my french fries and i ate his baked potato: we were both happy with swapping starches. the baked potato was fluffy inside loaded with butter, cheese, sour cream, and chives tucked into a crispy skin - it reminded me of a jacket potato. the accompanying bistro salad was such a fresh time-out from the rich meats and sides. the ingredients were well chopped and dressed. dessert: to make sure we used every cent of our gift card, we finished our meal with two desserts that each met our personal pleasures: my husband ordered the warm butter cake and i chose a slice of lemon cake. my husband loves warm desserts, especially served à la mode. the warm, sugary cake is dense, indulgent, and so buttery. served with vanilla ice cream and a warm berry compote, you do not want to miss this excellence. the lemon cake is an eight-layered behemoth of tart beauty. each cake layer is nestled between tangy lemon curd with an outer smear of vanilla buttercream. this was the most incredible lemon dessert i've ever had. we might have to come back soon, possibly for our upcoming 1-year wedding anniversary. since eating at nick's in october 2023, we've reminisced about this meal so many times! the staff were so kind the entire night, checking on us and making sure everything was satisfactory. they even gave us a sweet congratulatory card with our dessert. we highly recommend indulging in a delicious and exciting date night at nick's on second! read more

I walked by this place last time I was in town. It seemed to be extremely popular, so I made a reservation the next time I was in town. When I arrived I was quickly seated on the patio. It was a bit bright and warm. Once the sun sat it was much more comfortable. Several things on the menu looked good but I ended up going with the fried chicken. It was enough for two people to share. In fact, most of the plates I saw come out had big portions. My entree was very good, and the chicken and biscuit leftover made a great breakfast sandwich. I had the butter cake for dessert. It was good as well. Definitely enough for two people to share. Overall, I was pleased with my experience. read more

I've been to Nick's in Pasadena before and had a great experience. However, Nick's on 2nd was something else. I came here for a work related lunch with one of my favorite clients and had the best experience with our server, Jonathan. I ordered the Center Cut Filet with mashed potatoes and it was so tasty! It was done right. I also ordered an espresso martini which was great along with some spicy margs. We ended the lunch with dessert which was also good! I would come back here in a heartbeat because of the service we received with Jonathan. He was attentive, knowledgeable of all the entrees and drinks (my client and I were so indecisive on what to get and Jonathan broke it down and gave us recommendations) and was super patient about it! Anytime you come here to celebrate something, they gift you a congratulatory card signed by the staff. It's a simple gesture yet so thoughtful and makes the entire experience even better. My client told Jonathan I just moved into a new place and the card was to wish me a happy housewarming. How cute is that? Lol. I parked in a public parking spot about a block away. You can also park on the street if you find a space. read more

Came in to have brunch with my daughter and sister to celebrate all three of our birthdays. Everyone was so welcoming and greeted us upon walking in. Our server Farahe was so sweet and helpful made our day with our birthday treats we would have been okay with one to share but she was so sweet we each had our own candle and dessert! Thank You for excellent service :) We started with the asparagus fries which were so yummy and crispy. I've always wanted to try Nicks on 2nd. It was perfect timing that my friend who lives in the marina area invited me out to celebrate my ongoing birthday. I'm so glad I'm here and it's such a pretty day! Hosts and staff right off the bat so friendly and courteous. I'm a fan of the old fashioned if you didn't already know so enjoyed their fig old fashioned. Yes! Perfect. We started off with another favorite of mine, spinach dip. It's a large serving and comes with salsa and sour cream. A bowl of chips were brought out before we hit the bottom of the first serving. Chilean sea bass was on my radar. Cooked perfectly and was flaky and buttery. Garlic sautéed spinach and mashed potatoes were good. My friend had the friend chicken and raved about it. I'll have to come back for that since I was getting full. Birthday treat came out a beat after we were done with our meal. The timing of the food coming out was perfect. The restaurant seems a bit dim but I think because it's so bright outside - windows all the way around since there is patio seating. I would love to come back in the evening for the experience of its night service. Parking can be tricky. I found parking in the neighborhood which was free but there's also street metered parking too. Will definitely be back here soon! read more

Our server was great - super friendly and helpful. The service is top notch. The establishment was quite busy for a Tuesday afternoon but the dim candlelit room had a very cozy ambiance and wasn't too loud considering the crowds. There were some big winners on the food side. The butter cake was just as delicious as I had been told before visiting. The berries and ice cream and crunchy bits of sugar really made this dessert a winner. On the appetizer side, the fried asparagus was also delicious. The deviled eggs were not great. They had a heavy breading on the egg whites that was not very pleasant. The filling had lots of chunks which was super weird and unexpected. The bistro plate and cioppino were winners on the entree side. The chicken picatta lacked any seasoning and was just a super greasy slab of fryer oil. The sauce on top was equally flavorless which was super disappointing. All in all, some good dishes and some greasy, bland dishes. We'd return again and make a few different selections. read more

Came here with my girls to celebrate my birthday. We shared a bunch of appetizers and their drinks were so delicious. The service was great. They were quick and friendly. For dinner I got the filet mignon and the meat was so tender and delicious and cooked to my Wish. My friend got the chicken piccata and that serving was huge. She couldn't finish all her food. The food was delicious and the presentation was immaculate as well. Would definitely recommend for a good date option. Get the homemade sourdough bread and butter too!! Mmmm so bomb read more
We're fans of Nick's and this busy-corner location is our absolute favorite -- a must whenever we're in the area... especially sitting at the bar top! We've been fortunate to have Chrissy behind the bar; however, all of the bartenders are great -- everyone offering welcoming, personable, attentive, and efficient service! Love the lively, locals atmosphere; the food (consistent in presentation and taste. We always start with their Asparagus Fries; my husband only orders The Prime Rib Dip); the cocktails (martinis beautifully shaken, with delicate shards of ice, and appreciatively served in chilled glasses); and the consistently excellent and professional service. read more

Overall, good service at Nick's. Our meals came.out pretty quickly despite it being so busy. The hot fudge sundae was ice cream and hot fudge--no cake or brownie. The asparagus fries were good but not great. Reservations are recommended. read more

Nick's is a true staple in Long Beach one of those places you can always count on for consistent quality, great service, and a lively yet comfortable atmosphere. We kicked things off with their bacon deviled eggs, which are always a must when you come here. Creamy, smoky, and perfectly seasoned they never disappoint. For mains, my girlfriend went with her ride or die order the baby back ribs. Fall off the bone tender with a tangy glaze she swears by every time. I decided to venture out and try the prime rib dip with the warm potato salad. The potato salad was a fun twist warm, slightly tangy, and something you don't see every day. The rib dip itself was solid, juicy, and flavorful, but not necessarily a mind blower. Drinks were on point as usual and we ended on an absolute high note with their famous butter cake. If you've been here before, you know this dessert isn't optional it's a must. Warm, rich, and decadent with just the right amount of sweetness the perfect send off. Overall, Nick's remains a go to in Long Beach for a reason. Solid food, consistent execution, and a vibe that always feels like a treat. read more
I visited Nick's on 2nd on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant was quite crowded, as expected, and parking in the area was a challenge. I parked in the residential area behind the restaurant. For appetizers, we ordered fried devil eggs and spinach and artichoke dip. I never seen the bottom of an egg deep fried for devil eggs before but it was delectable. Spinach artichoke was also another hit. It was really good. For lunch, I ordered the Bistro Plate, which included a petite filet mignon, a petite bistro salad, and the soup of the day (French onion). Unfortunately, the steak was poorly seasoned and had an odd taste. The salad was just okay, but the French onion soup was too salty. After two spoonfuls, I couldn't eat any more. Luckily, I don't have high blood pressure because the sodium was extremely high. My brother ordered the center-cut filet and found it similarly disappointing, describing it as bland. However, my father ordered the ribeye melt sandwich, which he absolutely loved, calling it one of the best he's ever had. For drinks, we selected bottle service and went with the Cabernet, Impetuous, which was enjoyable. I ordered their butter cake for dessert to go. However, I had their ice cream and compote there. I usually don't like compote but it was very good and sweet. I warmed the butter cake at home. While the top layer was just average, the bottom layer of the cake was really good. My brother ordered desert wine- Taylor Fladgate. I took a sip and it was actually good. I'm not a fan of sweet wine but it was enjoyable. Overall, the experience was a mix of hits and misses. While the ribeye melt sandwich and dessert stood out, the steaks and soup was not appeasing. Nick's has potential, but the inconsistencies in food quality would make me hesitate to return. read more

Amazing service from the initial phone call to ask about wait times and reservation, Nicks staff went above and beyond during our dinning experience. We had an outaide table, they pulled the shade to block wind and sun. Our sever kayla was awesome, just right amount of details and attention. Food was on point.... Bread out of this world... Havent had garlic bread soo good in a while.... The asparagus fries were good too!! Our toddlers also sample a few items as we celebrated their first birthday... Nicks on 2nd is a nice restaurant in the heart of Belmont Shore. It is located on a corner and has a lot of exterior windows which gives a great view of what is going on outside. Parking can be a challenge but we got lucky and found a metered spot right around the corner a little before 5pm on a weekday. There are also several small public parking lots nearby. They have an outdoor patio as well as seating at the horseshoe shaped bar and booths and tables in the main dining area. There is a lot of nice woodwork inside on the walls and ceiling as well as a small fireplace display right when you enter. There are also interesting lighting fixtures over the bar and dining area. We sat in a comfy booth facing the entrance which gave a great view of the whole restaurant, bar and outside. We skipped appetizers and went straight for entrees. I have been on a mostly carnivore diet for a few months and have been eating 90% red meat so sea bass sounded excellent in order to have something different. I ordered it with the caper mustard beurre blanc sauce on the side, and a double order of the garlic lemon spinach skip skipping the whipped potatoes. It looks like a small piece of fish in the picture, but it was a decent size and cooked perfectly. I dipped a little in the sauce which was excellent. The spinach was also cooked perfectly and tasted great. I ate about half of it, but would have devoured it all if I didn't want to deviate too far from my current diet. My girlfriend ordered the local market salad with a side of salmon to add some protein. The salmon was cooked perfectly well done. The salad was great and had a good variety of ingredients. After having two salads recenly with undercooked bacon, this bacon was perfect and crispy. Our server Christina was friendly and took good care of us. The menu is fairly small but it has a great variety of items. They have a great wine list and plenty of house cocktails. We would definitely return when in the area. read more

Nick's on 2nd is everything you want from a weekend brunch spot--elevated comfort food, great service, and a lively, upscale vibe. We started with the deviled eggs and tomato bisque with grilled sourdough--simple but done right. The soup was creamy and bright, and the deviled eggs were a surprisingly flavorful bite to kick things off. For the main, I had the short rib hash with broccolini and sunny side egg--this was the standout dish. The short rib was tender and rich, and the velvety hollandaise brought it all together perfectly. It came with a fluffy house biscuit that was just chef's kiss. We wrapped it up with the French toast topped with whipped cream and caramelized banana--sweet, soft, and decadent without being too heavy. Everything felt well thought out and made with care. Highly recommend for brunch lovers who want a little indulgence in a beautiful space. read more

Everything! Well, let me start from the beginning. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with an amazing smile from The hostess (obviously with the mostest). Once we were seated our amazing waitress, Lauren stops by to introduce herself and asked what we were wanted to drink. However, we were hungry and ready to order. My husband and I thought we were ready and Lauren provided us with some options and we took a gamble on her recommendation and, YES! They were delicious. I ordered the petite steak, salad and soup (delish) and my husband ordered the rib eye sandwich. Let's just say the conversations minimal because we were busy enjoying our food. Lauren stopped by several times to check on us and we didn't stop chewing but we signaled we were good. After a few deep breaths we thought we were done and Lauren made a final suggestion on dessert. Always the best time at Nick's on 2nd. Vibrant atmosphere, attentive staff, excellent service, and mouthwatering food. It was another great birthday celebration with my friend when I was visiting Long Beach. Must order the wedge salad, Chilean sea bass, and warm butter cake. Oh my gosh! This food was fire! . I had the fish n chips and it was so flavorful and crispy. The best I have ever had. I shared the salad w a friend and it was bursting with flavor. Everyone at the table said the food was amazing. But the presentation... that's what you go for. The ambiance was okay... nothing too special but nice for the area. Parking is rough but makes for a fun walk around 2'nd street. Prices are pretty high but when you eat the food you understand why. Service was great as well. read more

Today is our 11th Wedding Anniversary and we chose Nick's on 2nd. What a wonderful decision. The food was delicious and the service and Ambiance were amazing. The appetizers delicious; fried asparagus with ranch, shrimp taquitos. For the entrees we had top sirloin and filet with baked potato and asparagus. Our waiter and waitress were awesome. Always a consistently great experience! Love the Bistro Plate! A little fillet, salad, and soup! The perfect meal! Their iced tea is good as well as the Black & Blue Mojitos! It's good to be back at Nick's on the 2nd, but this time in Long Beach! The one thing I have to say about Nick's is that they are very consistent every time. The food has always been great, and the service is top-notch. You really can't go wrong dining here unless price is a factor. Two out of the three times I have dined here, there has been a decent wait, but I came at lunch and quickly found a table. I ordered the Prime Rib Dip, and it was terrific. The brioche bun tastes excellent when dipped in the red wine Au Jus sauce, and the prime rib melts in your mouth. I paired it with some fries, which were also great. I highly recommend this spot and its appetizer too. Inside, they have a plenty of seating, including a big bar and outiside covered patio seating. Parking is a little tough but I recommend parking in the neighborhood if you can. I look forward to coming back very much soon. read more

Parking is a challenge so be prepared. I parked about 2 blocks away and walked to the restaurant. The food was good but not worth the price. I apologize to the chef. The ambiance is very nice and trendy. Definitely not my kind of restaurant based on my boring personality. The service was good. The waitress was nice and they smiled. read more

Sometimes it can be difficult during weekend lunch hours, but there are also several public parking lots around the area.

They have an enclosed patio so not completely open to the outdoors but lots of light and air. Also warm!

I believe they don't open till 11:00 each day.

We sat outside along the street. The atmosphere from our seating area was a city scene. We were there at sunset and enjoyed the changing light, but could not actually see the sunset as you might be wanting.

No. Not anymore. They ask you to tie your dog to the fence if you bring your dog with you to dine on the patio
Does Nicks still do complimentary corkage for the first wine bottle?
No they don't offer anymore
Does nicks on second offer vegan options or accommodations? I looked on your menu and couldn't find any fully vegan options available
They don't offer vegan dishes they do have some vegetarian teams you can order but I suggest if your looking for a vegan meal try Seabirds I really like that place and it's a nice place to go for a date....
Is Nick's on 2nd a good place for business dinners for large groups? Is it quiet or noisy?
