honestly wasn't impressed by their honey cinnamon oat latte (~$8) -- not sure if the coffee or the oat milk was watery but the drink itself was. they added too much syrup or honey as well. I could barely taste the coffee

Stopped in after spending a few hours exploring Hotel Del and walking the beach. I loved the variety of the menu. The seating inside is limited to counter style where you can watch the chefs cook up the meals. They have several tables set up outside I ordered an Americano and bottled water. Fish tacos and rolled tacos. They have a full selection of what looked like delicious diner food. Solid menu choices. There's something there for every taste. Our waitress was helpful in helping us order. She brought our order timely and it was fresh. We both forgot about the Americano and she brought it later and said it was on the house. Very thoughtful. The day was gorgeous and the noise level from the street was not bad and or distracting Recommend !!

Stopped by on our way to the beach to get a California burrito (carne asada) and chips/salsa. The staff were super friendly and it was very easy to walk up and order to go. The burritos were extremely flavorful and fresh! I liked that you got a very decent portion and it paired well with chips and salsa which had a bit of a kick. Excited to come back to try additional menu items here!

Food, service and ambience are great! The fish battered tacos are my favorite, the best fish tacos I love coming here for breakfast and dinner, people are always nice and treat you like family! Good job guys!!

Had a nice breakfast/brunch recently at Night and Day Cafe. The food was simple, classic, and exactly what we were in the mood for. The pancake was huge and had that soft, fluffy texture you want from a good diner-style meal. We also had a breakfast burrito with crispy hash browns that hit the spot, plus a plate with bacon, eggs, and hash browns that was satisfying and well cooked. The portions were definitely generous, although the prices felt very Coronado. Still, the food came out fresh and it was an easy, enjoyable brunch overall. One thing to know: on a busy day, if you're sitting outside, be prepared to get a few stares from people waiting for a table. Not the restaurant's fault, just part of the experience when a spot is popular. Nothing overly fancy, just good comfort food done well. Definitely a solid spot when you want a relaxed, no-fuss meal.

Chilaquiles (with carne asada and red guajilo sauce)

A very popular and good restaurant! Be prepared for a wait, as limited seating and again popular. Service was great despite the busy time. Didn't go inside, but looked nice and outdoor seating was lovely. Food was delicious, got the chilaquiles with red guajilo sauce and carne asada, very big portion and sooo good and flavorful. Lots of good options across the menu for classic American and authentic Mexican.

We went for Saturday brunch and had an amazing meal. Sitting at the counter let us watch everything being prepared fresh right in front of us. The jalapeño hollandaise was incredible--honestly, I could eat it as a dip for tortilla chips, it was that good. The omelet was generously filled with fresh shrimp and full of flavor. Service was good overall. My only small complaint is that after waiting a long time for counter seating (by choice), three different parties were seated at the same time and our order was taken last. I wish there had been a little more attention to who was seated first. Aside from that, everything was spot-on. The décor is fun, with a classic diner vibe, and the whole place looked clean and well maintained. I'm excited to go back and try more items from the menu!

We had the best experience and meals. The restaurant has outdoor seating and a counter top bar inside. The staff was fantastic and the chef efficient considering he was the only one behind the counter. The food was was delicious but be aware that the portions are larger enough to share. The mimosa flight YUMMMM. Full menu from breakfast to burgers to salads. I would absolutely eat here again.

Stopped by Night & Day Cafe and had a solid, laid-back experience. It's a small, hole-in-the-wall type spot inside, but I grabbed a table outside at the end of the main street, which was a great way to enjoy the meal. Started with chips and salsa and for my main I ordered the carne asada tacos. Straightforward, enjoyable, and exactly what I was looking for. Nothing fancy, just good food in a relaxed setting. A nice find if you're nearby and want something simple and dependable.

    Coronado Breakfast Burrito
    Caroline K.

Come here with a seriously empty stomach! Came here early on a Sunday morning and walked out feeling more full than Thanksgiving dinner! Wow, the Coronado burrito is delicious. The perfect mix of everything you want for breakfast with perfectly cooked bacon, hashbrowns, avocado, and scrambled eggs in a burrito with the salsa drizzled in you could just go to town on that! Sitting inside at the bar, you get to watch all the food being cooked and it feels like you were transported back to your childhood This tiny and unassuming hole in the wall in Coronado is incredible and worth every penny come eat your heart out and then go for a walk towards the Del

This feels more local than most of the other restaurants along this street. I like it. I mean, it's a homey little breakfast burrito diner. Or maybe it's more dingy than homey? Maybe it depends on your point of view. Plus, the dude is cooking right in front of you; obviously not a classy place. Nice bit of heat on the tortilla and fluffy eggs. Good avocado. No default salsa, but not too dry even without it since it's well made. I kind of like the hash browns too for some reason. It's something about the amount of crisp and the ratio to the softness that feels right somehow. It does feel a bit pricey for what you're getting, but that's everywhere in this neighborhood. Like, that just looks like cheap shredded cheese. Also, the steak was.......okay. The texture was fine, but I did feel that it was a tad bland and generic. The waitress offered coffee to-go, which was great. Although, I have a random nitpick about the cups with the built in sleeves. Ironically, these are not as good and will get too hot in your hand since part of what gives the insulation is the sliver of separation between the detached sleeve and the cup. Anyways, I do like this place, but I'm gonna lose street cred again if I give this five stars. Lol.

The service was excellent so that's all I'm going off of. The menu did look pretty fire though, so I'd be willing to give it another shot cause for all intents and purposes, the other people in the restaurant seemed to be really enjoying the food! But anyways... I'm a skillet cookie connoisseur. Any place that has a skillet cookie, I'm going there SOLEY to order it. If I ever get married, instead of having cake, my guests will be having skillet cookies for dessert instead. Some might say I love skillet cookies even more than Scottie Scheffler. My love for skillet cookies runs deeper than the Mariana trench and I've been to more than (at least) 11 restaurants to exclusively try them out. With that out of the way... I'm horrified to report this is the worst skillet cookie I've ever had in my entire life. It somehow felt overcooked, yet undercooked at the same time. It was also like they cooked it at an angle. Because it awkwardly occupied 3/4ths of the skillet. It had the consistency of a cake but the taste of a cookie? It was like they couldn't decide whether or not they wanted to make a cake or a cookie. So instead, they decided to half bake something that was in between. I couldn't believe it. It was also completely lacking in the chocolate chip department. All in all, this skillet cookie had a worse performance than Michael Jordan during his high school varsity tryouts. I'll admit it too... I completely lied to the waitress when she came over and asked me how the cookie was. Instead of telling her the truth, I gave her two thumbs up and said, " it's good!".... It was not good. It was terrible! I'm a coward.

The bar in the restaurant is great, with a couple of nice TVs for sports, and the somewhat dark, basement-oriented style of the restaurant is really cool and unique. On my most recent visit, I ordered the Grilled Bacon & Blistered Shishito Pepper Burger. While the burger looked delicious, and tasted decent, I had higher hopes for it. I was wanting the burger to be a bit more juicy and spicy. While there is some room for improvement there, it's definitely still a place I'll be back to!

I highly recommend this beer if you are indecisive of what to order from. 5/5 To eat I decided to order an appetizer: Islander Ahi Poke (Ahi tuna in a poke marinade with cucumber & avocado over seaweed slaw. That said, the space can feel a bit chaotic, especially given its size. What you can typically expect is that this isn't the kind of bar where you go to quietly relax. Most of the time it's better suited for a festive mood. It gets packed, movement around the bar can be tight, and finding a stool or seat isn't always easy if you're hoping to sit back and unwind. The house rules--such as the "no phones at the bar" policy--can also feel more like part of the spectacle than a charming quirk, depending on your mood. For example, the bartender may hand you drinks, a bill to sign, a receipt, a clipboard, a pen, and your phone after grabbing it to tap the register for payment--all while you're squeezed between seated patrons, processing your order. In moments like that, it can almost feel like part of the act because it can be quite difficult to keep that phone or any of the other items off of the limited bar space: the chaos fuels the energy of the crowd and the hope for a free round of drinks. If that's the kind of atmosphere you're in the mood for, you'll likely have a great time. The décor, however, is outstanding. The model planes are impressive, and the historic aviation vibe adds a lot to the experience. The Maverick "Hard Deck Bar" from the film was modeled after the I Bar, and there's an enduring urban legend that some people hoped the movie prop would remain as a real bar on base after filming--though it was dismantled. That connection probably drives additional curiosity and visits to the original I Bar, even though it's a different place. Because it's located on a military base, the crowd tends to include regulars passing through on assignment rather than tourists. In fact, it isn't really set up for tourist traffic. So if you happen to get access with someone who has a military ID--and you arrive while the bar is actually open--you'll likely enjoy the experience. But if you're simply looking for a relaxed place to sit and have a drink, you may prefer one of the bars off base where there's a bit more room to breathe.
