The servers were very polite, and knowledgeable. They informed us that this restaurant has been around for almost 100 years!! The place looked comfy, indoor seating, and outdoor seating as well. The decorations they had were interesting, gave it a unique experience into the history around the area. Once they started preparing the food you could tell it was going to be good. After having not been in the San Diego area in love 6 years, Night and Day didn't disappoint! They're known for their portions and delicious food. My husband and I went in on a Sunday morning and there was a long line. I would say we waited to sit for around 20 minutes, but it's typical here. The establishment is fairly small, they have a wrap around bar to sit at and a few tables. I would say no more than 25 people would fit inside, but it's worth the wait! The servers are professional and very busy, but are always very attentive when you need something. You also can watch as they cook your food, which I think is cool. Definitely recommend! read more

He got the Coronado breakfast burrito with sauce on the side. I got the French toast special. We got to sit outside (there is only one outside table) enjoy the breeze, while listening to Queen and other laid back chill music. Inside there are 2 bars. One in front of the cook and one against the wall. Pretty much Side by side seating only but for the environment and vibe it's great. Our server wasn't the 'best'. She bright the wrong drink, I had to get up to ask for a new one because she never came back. And once we got our food, we never saw her again. However the kid (I say kid because he was young and adorable dermal piercings and diamonds in his teeth) was more than helpful. He talked wit us about our food, helped us pay our check, and even RAN DOWN THE STREET to find me because I left my purse behind. He's truly a gem. Good honest business and AMAZING food. My husband is super French today picky and likes well rounded meals. And some places you order French toast or pancakes and that's I'll you get. But with mine I also got bacon and eggs. And the French toast was thick and sweet but not too sweet and delicious. We were both completely full for most of the day. Very reasonably priced and we will likely go back. I had then Coronado breakfast burrito with a side of their homemade salsa and my husband had the chorizo burrito. The burritos are big so we ended up taking the other half back to the room. Wowee, wowee, I love diners! Night and Day rocked our late brunch today at around noon. One party was seated at the one table outside and we had the inside pretty much to ourselves. Several people came and went with to-go orders, but there was no dine-in crowed while we were there. We were seated at a tiny round table right at the entrance, although we had our choice of stools at the counter. The menu consisted pretty much of the standard diner fare. What I love most about counter diners is being able to watch the hash slinger sling hash right in front of you. I ordered eggs and chorizo which comes with rice and beans, but I subbed for extra crispy hash browns. The little lady ordered eggs over medium, served with extra crispy bacon and extra crispy hash browns. Well, what can I say? It's pretty hard to screw that stuff up, right? They didn't. I don't know how I can love stuff that I can easily make at home just as well, but when someone else is making it FOR you, it's just soooooo much better! The people here were super nice to us. Service was great. How could it not be? You can spit from one end to the other. The food was prepped right in front of us, fresh ingredients served hot and as efficiently as you can prepare food from scratch. Warning: You cannot come here with a group, unless you're lucky enough to grab the table outside that looks to seat six or so. But if you're by yourself or one or two others, mozy on up to the bar and enjoy great diner food prepared from scratch. The food is similar in quality to Clayton's diner down the street, but this is much, much smaller and cozier. Spoiler alert: Clayton's is building a bakery and bisto right next door, to open late summer of 2019. I've been coming to Coronado for nearly 30 years and have never been here before. I almost always go to Clayton's, but now I have a fall back when Clayton's has a long wait, especially if there's room at the counter here. I hope In and Out is here for 30 years to come. read more

Well it was our first time at this little Cafe. It was our anniversary and wanted to go somewhere new we've never been. First we were seated at a table that still had spilled milk or coffee on the table. The table was filthy. But no one cleaned it until about 10 minutes later when I asked the server to clean it. Then she asked what I wanted to drink. I said coffee and water. She only brought my coffee but she never asked my husband what he wanted to drink. And it took another 10 minutes to get my coffee. We order and automatically tried to upsell us. Not an honest way of doing things. She asked my husband if he wanted bacon or sausage, he said he didn't want those sides. Well, out comes his sandwich with bacon. She also asked me how I want my eggs. My meal doesn't come with eggs. So another opportunity to upsell eggs I didn't even want. Then when it's time to pay she gives us a total. Doesn't give us a receipt so no way of disputing the extra charges. Unfortunately we chose the wrong restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. $50 for biscuits and gravy and an egg sandwich. Plus bad service. Never again. Perfect local place to grab a burger, fries and a drink. Really good buns on the burgers, I normally don't eat the buns but this is worth it. Since the food is prepared right in front of you and served pronto, be careful as it will be hot. Breakfast, or burrito are also yummy. Coronado Island is one of my favorite places in the entire United States. While I haven't been to many restaurants here I've been to The Night and Day Cafe once before. Per usual in search of the most delicious breakfast burrito I could find I decided to try course exactly that. This is a very tiny place ,sit at the counter or outside .... an old school griddle whipping up breakfast and lunch comfort foods. I'm honestly surprised Guy & Diner's Drive Inns and Dives hasn't been here because it's at that level without a doubt. There's multiple burritos to choose for breakfast and they're massive and as tasty as they are big. I went with the regular breakfast burrito add avocado with a side of extra crispy hash browns. A cold mug of orange juice or at least orange drink and a hot cup o' coffee in a mug made this a fantastic brunch experience overall. The service is fast and efficient too...I love sitting at the counter inside and watching the short order cooks put together impressive looking dishes, for a guy named Big John, this is the kind of place that I like to go. Very old school ...clearly been here for a long time. Now, parking's a bit tough but you'll probably find something on the street. It is definitely worth a trip to the Night and Day Cafe if you are lucky enough to be on the island. read more
