The first time I came to Nomads was before pandemic, with coworkers. So I was excited to come back here today for an anniversary lunch for my coworker. We arrived around 1145am and were greeted right away and then immediately seated. The staff was attentive and we were able to order our food as soon as our doctor arrived. What I love about Nomads is the family style portion size, so everyone can share . We each ordered off the Lunch specials on the back of the menu. Prices range from $14.50-16.50 and you get the soup day, rice( brown, white, fried for an extra $2) and a nice big entree dish! We ordered the Egg drop soup, scallion pancakes, orange chicken, garlic honey chicken, honey walnut shrimp, sweet and sour chicken, Mongolian beef, beef and broccoli. Our soup arrived first, and our entrees didn't take long to come out after that... maybe 10 min or so. Everything was delicious! I also ordered the jasmine green tea (hot) which went perfectly with the food. It never got really crowded but people were consistently coming in since it was during lunch time. The restaurant is a nice size and never feels like your to close to other tables which is nice. I'm happy we were able to come back here and I'll definitely be back, bringing friends and family! read more

My husband and I have wanted to eat here for years. We finally ate here yesterday. We each ordered the lunch special which came with soup, an entree and a side of rice. The price was reasonable for what things cost these days. The soup came out quick as did the rest of our meal. The food was good although there was a very distinct taste in the beef dish that I didn't care for. Some sort of spice they used. I asked the waitress what it could be but she didn't know... I'm not sure if they are using a lot of MSG or what but during our meal my husband and I immediately started feeling really tired and kind of icky. Not that the food tasted bad/was old but something they put in it got to us. I'm not sure that we will go back due to the reason I mentioned above. If we did, we would definitely try something different. read more

Husband and I met a friend here for lunch. The restaurant looks like it's been here forever and I wouldn't recommend it for its ambiance. We ordered off the regular menu since their lamb dishes weren't on the lunch special selection. We ordered sesame flatbread, which came out warm and was delicious. It's like scallion pie, but a little thicker with sesame seeds. The garlic lamb was also a hit, and probably the best of the dishes that we ordered. The spicy string beans were typical stir fried string beans. The pan fried noodles with shrimp was the least favorite dish. The noodles weren't crispy and the dish was flooded with gravy. One of the waiters brought a wrong pan fried noodle dish, and I suspect they took topping off and then put the shrimp on with more gravy. We had leftovers but none of us wanted to take it home. Service was ok after our friend started speaking Cantonese to the waitress. I've had better food in the South Bay and I'm not sure I'd rush back anytime soon. read more

11/30/25 Have been coming here for years and the food was halal and ok. I came last week and found out the owners had changed, I came again today and again the food was amazing and the portions are great. I used to leave hungry but today was left full with left overs. Came here for company team lunch. This restaurant was close by work so my coworkers and manager decided to come here. They had enough seats for our team of maybe 18 people. I ordered the Tofu with shiitake mushroom with white rice and hot and sour soup. The Tofu with mushroom dish was huge. Portion size was big. Biggest complaint was that the sauce is extremely salty, it's inedible. The hot and sour soup was good. I feel that everything is loaded with MSG. Overall it was okay experience. I have been to this restaurant over 10 times. I can say that this is the best Chinese food that I have ever had. I have pretty much tried everything on their menu, and all items have a lot of flavor. The staff are really nice here and are very helpful and patient with people who are there for the first time. I've never been disappointed when coming to this place. This is a great place to come with your family. The portions are family-sized, so you will have leftovers. The ambiance is not all fancy, but the facility is clean. This is a must-try. Most of the patrons there were of Arab or South Asian descent, so you know the food had to be worth it! The menu was overwhelming with options so we chose many items to try. My favorites were the Fried Rice with Chicken, Sautéed Chinese Broccoli, Basil Eggplant, and the Cumin Lamb. I love how the fried rice came out to be similar in texture to Malaysian/Indonesian fried rice. The rice grains were separate and all covered in the seasoning. The Chinese broccoli had this amazing garlic flavor, I couldn't stop eating it. The Cumin Lamb wasn't as spicy as other Chinese restaurants make it but it had quite a bit of cilantro in it. First things first: family style. All the portions are huge so don't be alarmed when you see prices on the menu. There were four adults in our party and we did an appetizer and 3 dishes. We ordered: Beef rolls Orange chicken Cumin lamb Fried rice Chicken corn soup Each dish was better than the next. The corn soup with a little dash of hot sauce could've been my whole meal. Once the orange chicken came out I knew this was going to be an excellent night. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I don't think we've ever cleared the table that fast. I got the mushroom black pepper chicken and the flavor was good but the food was SWIMMING in oil. There was a normal amount of sauce in the container and then about 1/3 cup of oil. It was hard to tell in the black container, so I poured the sauce out into a clear container and the first half was just pure oil. It was so separated that it feels like they poured the oil on top after putting it in the to go container? The scallion pancake also was COVERED in oil. Way beyond the normal cooking oil. Again, it felt like they lathered it in oil after cooking. However, we ordered through door dash and the food was just as hot as I would expect if I was dining in. I've been here when it was owned my a lady named Jamillah but after she sold it ...it's just has gotten downhill to the point where I hate to say but I will not return. It's exciting when there is a halal restaurant for those of us who only eat Halal. However this place is an incredible disappointment not just because of the vulgar music blasting, the terrible quality of food, but my main concern was the filthy condition of the kitchen. They had left the back door open and I got a glimpse! From the flies dancing and sitting on the "handmade noddles" that were left to air dry by the garbage, to the dirty pile of dishes everywhere, spilled food on the floor, and an open stinky bag of garbage just laying on the floor ...and to top it off there was a sign on the door that they were sited for unsanitary conditions recently. They have the words halal pasted on their doors and menu but when I asked for the certification they couldn't provide me with one. The rotten cherry on top of all this pile of yuck...they unashamedly sell BOYCOTTED products. Never again. read more

Our party of four sat on the patio on a Saturday afternoon. We ordered 8 dishes: beef roll, hot dumpling soup, crispy chicken, chicken cashew, chicken chow fun, assorted vegetables, shrimp walnut, and green beans. The server informed us that we ordered food for eight people, but we wanted to try all of it. The beef roll in a scallion pancake was flavorful; lots of cucumbers and seasonings. The crispy chicken had a nice crispy crust on the outside and flavorful chicken on the inside. The assorted vegetables were not over cooked. The chicken chow fun was delicious! The chicken cashew was a bit different than other chicken with cashew meals I've tasted. Lastly, the green beans were crunchy and had a little kick to it! I don't have many go to Asian spots and I've been wanting to try some out lately. I came here for lunch with my mom. Parking was super easy, got a table right away, the service was a little slow but everyone was extremely friendly. I did like how they brought out a huge pitcher of water for the whole table instead of having to wait for drink refills. Got the broccoli beef, vegetable chow mein and General Tso's Chicken. Nomad has been my place for all things Chinese food. Their menu is clearly labeled with what is and isn't gluten free. Tonight's dinner consisted of: 5/5 Honey Walnut Shrimp Honestly my favorite thing to order at any Chinese restaurant and they do it well! 5/5 Edamame, Shiitake Mushrooms, and Bamboo Shoots (does contain dairy) Loved the differing textures of all 3 vegetables! Comes in a creamy butter sauce. 3.5/5 Kung Pao Chicken This was too spicy for my liking, the flavor was good but it's the type of spice that builds up the more you eat. I love Nomad! This restaurant is on our list of favorite takeout spots. We also order our Christmas lunch here every year. One huge reason we frequent Nomad, is their amazing amount of gluten free options. We love every one of the noodle dishes! My favorite is the chow fun! Tried the Beef Stew with homemade noodles ($18), and it was excellent: very hearty, with nice big chunks of stewed beef (shank) and wonderful homemade noodles. Went yesterday for a late lunch around 2pm. It was much busier than I thought it would be for the time, but our table of 5 was seated right away. Everything we ordered was so good! Generous portions, delicious flavors, and decent pricing. Large tables for all the plates of delicious food. Also, noted a lot of families and large groups, including a couple birthday celebrations. Side note if we arrived just 20 mins later it would have been over an hour wait. I would have waited because this food is delicious. We went for lunch . Quite a dirty mess old looking place. It was empty and the food was horrible, awful and simply nasty. First of all the soup we ordered felt as if it was sitting out on the counter for hours . It was cold not even microwaved warm . Second the sweet and sour CHICKEN smelled so BAD we almost threw up . Smelled like bad fish or rotten shrimp there were few of us we all agreed chicken was rotten. The chowmein looked as if a 2 year old put it together . The staff was rude and didn't care that we were all quite unhappy. They didn't care or even acknowledge what we told them . All they said "you want us to refund." Usually they never refund so I believe they knew it was rotten food and service . As we crossed, I discovered the main entrance and was approached by a man who asked if he could help. I told him we had come in a back door and it was our first time there. He showed us to a table by a window and gave us menus. I ordered walnut shrimp and a small rice. My friend ordered broccoli chicken. We waited a short time, and then our food was delivered. I could not believe the amount of food. There was enough for a family of three. The broccoli was in large pieces, and my friend asked me if I thought we could get a knife. As she said that, the waitress came to our table and asked if we would like to have a knife. We ate our meal and had enough left over to take home. The waiter came over and asked if he could pack the food for us to go. The preparation and taste of the food was excellent and the service was above and beyond. Went today with 4 adults and my 14 month old daughter and 3 year old daughter and with some shi**y service they had the audacity to charge me without my permission a 18% gratuity when they didn't even come to my table even once after we received the food to see if we needed anything or how was our food. With this Shi**y service and rude behavior I wanted to tip less or even 0 but I guess they do whatever they want. Tip if for good service not mandatory when u get bad service.
