What's not to love at Oregano's? Nothing... it's all delish! I've been a customer for over 20-years beginning at the Tempe location when I was attending ASU. Although the menu has changed a little, the food and the experience is still top notch. Now that my brother lives in Surprise, this location will certainly become a regular stop. We stopped in on a Thursday night and got seated right away. Service was phenomenal as was the food - I had the Riga Tony, my brother had a meatball sandwich. Go here! read more

Second food stop in AZ! Had a family dinner here and both the service and food were amazing! We started off with the zucchini fries appetizer, and then ordered our entrees. My dad got the Lady is a Scampi (shrimp scampi), my mom got the Zany Ziti (baked ziti), and my eyes were set on one of their panned pizzas (which takes 45 mins to cook, btw). Zucchini fries: You really can't go wrong with zucchini fries. It comes with ranch dipping sauce! Shrimp Scampi: Lots of shrimp! Which is just the way a shrimp scampi should be. The chipotle garlic sauce hit all the right spots. Baked Ziti: Comes in a baked bread bowl. You can get it with either sausage, chicken, or meatballs. Pepperoni Pan Pizza: I think I made it through 2 slices before I tapped out. Lol. The pizza was incredible, but wayyyy to much for 1 person. However, it was perfect for my lunch the next day. All the food was great and we all had leftovers. We even managed to fit in a dessert chocolate chip pizza cookie with ice cream, which was really the perfect ending to our meal. read more

I wish I could write a good review but I can't. I'd like to say that the waiter was friendly, I'd like to say that the food was good, I'd like to say the ambiance is great, but I can't. We sat down ordered dinner and waited for one hour for it to arrive. The waiter gave many excuses but still no food. When the food finally came out, it was cold. There were four dishes that we ordered and all four dishes were cold. How do you do that in a kitchen? Clearly there is no accountability back there and during this entire hour, we never got silverware set ups. So when I felt my cold waffle fries, I couldn't even wipe the grease off of my hand because I did not have a napkin! More waffle fries came out, you guessed it, cold again. One of the pasta dish was ice cold, not cool, but ice cold, as in not cooked. Terrible experience and it seems they didn't really have a response. Oh yeah, they offered a single dessert for the 4 of us to compensate. When we asked if we were each going to get a a dessert, he said, "wow I've never seen management give that much away" We knew that this wasn't going right. Our neighbor ladies went to lunch there and several of us order their Oregano salad. It was horrible!! The lettuce was limp and looked days old. Nothing was fresh. So disappointed!! The service was slow and it was very noisy. read more

3:00 there was a 20 minutes wait for a table in the dining room, we went outside and got a table right away, but no one waited on us so we went to the bar. Lexi at the bar is the sweetest and most friendly person we've met in a long time. Not to mention very knowledgeable and attentive. read more

This was our 3rd time to this restaurant. We went on a weekend joined the waitlist told the person we were there and if my son had not heard the hostess say we had not checked in we probably would have waited for longer than needed. Service was slow my husband never got a second beer we did not pay for it thankfully. Appetizer was good of spinach dip. Actual dinner items a pizza and kid's entrees were just mid. Took forever for dessert the cookie it was good if it's too take forever would be nice to indicate that. Refills took a bit too. Just have decided not a place for us. read more

I was in the same party as Ross M. (review posted 4/16/23), and I share his disappointment. Because we had a larger party of 9, and because one person in our party has some health limitations, we contacted the restaurant in advance to see if they could accommodate us with minimal wait. We were told that they appreciated the heads-up, and we were instructed to contact the restaurant about 45 minutes before our intended arrival so they could prepare for us. When we called back as instructed, we were told that the first person had misinformed us, and that there was no intent to make preparations beyond their customary first-come first-served approach to guest management. We spoke with a manager who communicated in a patronizing manner, repeatedly asking who we had first spoken with (which, of course, we did not recall). But he said that he would do his best to take care of us and our situation. However, when we arrived, the hostess repeated their policy and disregarded the instructions we had been previously given. We ended up waiting outside for almost an hour. Once seated, our server (Isaac) was terrific. Really top-notch service! Unfortunately, the meal itself was a disappointment. The pizza was okay, albeit with a somewhat soggy crust. But soup and salads were inconsistently delivered (with one guest's soup arriving with the main meal). Isaac informed us that there was little he could do because the kitchen had its own time-table for food preparation and expected delivery. One salad had a small black bug in it. Pasta was dry and overcooked. Bread was served cold (and we were told that it isn't made fresh on-site so there's little they can do). We had chosen Oregano's for a special occasion based on one of our party's desires. In the end, it was a very disappointing experience -- certainly not worth the long wait considering all the other dining options in the area. Hungry guests are better off looking elsewhere for a place with higher food quality and greater customer respect & service from management. read more

This spot was a complete disappointing today. From food to service everything was just horrible. The cheesy bread didn't have the cheese on it. Waited 40 mins in between appetizer to entrée. The waitress checked on all the tables around us except us, almost felt discriminated by her. Pasta was salty, Desert had a taste of garlic in it. Check in went smoothly however the food took forever to come out and when it did it was cold! Pasta cold is awful. One meal was redone but we were under a time constraint we just went with "semi warm pasta) The garlic bread was chewy which meant it was sitting for awhile. read more

It makes me sad to leave a bad review for a restaurant I once loved. Our first time at this location was a nightmare- the wait was over 45 minutes and we waited even longer to get our food that came out cold. They made things right by not charging us- and admitted they didn't have the proper staff for how busy they were. Knowing how good Oreganos CAN be, we opted to give it another chance. Mistake- we will not go back. We were seated quickly which was the only positive to this review. Both myself and my son's noodles were crunchy and not fully cooked. The meat sauce has no meat. The fried raviolis were way over fried. We usually love to share a pazooki at the end of dinner, but this time we wanted to just get out. The food was so so awful. read more

I've driven by Oregano's (Surprise, AZ) literally hundreds of times but today I decided I was going to try it. I ordered the pizza and picked it up and it was ready a couple of minutes early, which was nice. It smelled and looked good, which was even better. UNFORTUNATELY, the taste was not good. Not even close. I ordered their thin crust pizza, and boy was it thin. Think cracker thin. I guess that's fine if that is what you want, but I wanted a "traditional" thin crust pizza, not a cracker with cheese and sauce. Speaking of the sauce, it was so incredibly sweet, in an UNPLEASANT way. It was like eating tomato candy. YUCK. I was so disappointed. If you are looking for a savory pizza sauce, you aren't going to find it here. Honestly, for the price I paid for this pie, I could have had 3 pizzas from Domino's and they would have tasted much better! Basically... don't bother with Oregano's thin pizza... or anything on their menu that uses that sickly sweet tomato sauce. Again, yuck. read more

I had to ask my grandson to help me create a yelp account to leave a review at this location. I was blown away by Oregano's! Me and and my gals went here after our weekly book club. We were greeted by the sweetest young lady named bri. We were sat quickly and we had the most amazing woman named Danielle serve us. The food came out very quickly and hot. This has always been one of my favorite restaurants so much so I had my birthday dinner here. We went this evening around 5ish. Ordered an appetizer and our meals. Our meals came out and we still hadn't received our appetizer. I got up spoke with the manager and got that resolved. We ordered drinks....I got up after a while and asked for refills, asked for the pizza dough for my daughter 3 time and finally it came but by then she was eating. Asked for the cheese for the appetizer...got it once the appetizer was half gone. Asked for 2 plates for our salad several times then finally I got up and finally had to get them myself. You see where this is going. I started to feel like I was working there myself. I felt like any minute someone was going to jump out and say I was on candid camera. At one point the manager said he was going to buy us the appetizer (guacatony)and take it off the bill. That never happened. Then the manager came over and we had a very nice conversation and I appreciated his attempt. While he spoke with us he offered us a dessert. We were full and said no thank you. He said "you can take it home" I then said ok, thank you, you can give it to my parents, my father loves cannolis (the new desert they have) the manager even said oh that one is the best to take home. We got the bill, no appetizer was taken off, no dessert was given. I wasn't looking for a hand out, the manager offered but then never did it. For over 10 years Oregano's was my staple favorite go to restaurant. I even brought everyone to dinner here after my daughters adoption. With all the restaurants around and all the prices being jacked up (my drink here went up by $3) I think I can definitely find better service for the price we paid. It was just so disappointing and to offer things and not follow through is just again bad service.
