First time trying origin. I've been meaning to come here a while but always thought it couldn't beat the og baekjeong. But I was very surprised by how great the quality of the meats were. You can tell the meat is not frozen and served fresh. The staff did a great job cooking our meat and making sure all the side dishes were refilled. The highlight for me was the ramen in the soup. Not a lot of kbbqs, other than ayce, give ramen noodles so it was definitely a pleasant surprise. Definitely want to come back and try the pork menu as this time around I only tried the beef. Plus side is they take reservations so no more waiting to get a table.

    Large Origin Special Set

I have only been to AYCE KBBQ spots in the past, so it was a refreshing experience to get a set amount of food and not feel the "pressure" to eat until you're sick! This was also the first time I have been to a spot where the staff cooks the meat for you, which felt very lux (although part of the fun of kbbq is cooking it)! It wasn't too crowded for lunch on a weekend day. Staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. Easy to make a reservation on Resy and I opted to park in the Equitable Plaza parking structure for only $7.99 on weekends (and I believe weekday evenings). This is cheaper than the lot next to the restaurant. Very clean bathrooms too!! Let's get into the food - I believe we got the large Origin Special Set (says it serves 4 but we think it could've easily served 6). We took lots of leftovers (which is allowed)!! My favorites were the marinated prime bulgogi and the garlic seasoned prime short rib, but honestly everything was really good. The corn cheese comes with the set and it was SO GOOD! It also comes with a brisket soybean paste hotpot with noodles which we did not even read on the menu, and so it was an exciting surprise. The banchan were fresh and they had lettuce to make handheld wraps if you wanted. We also couldn't resist ordering a side of kimchi fried rice (one of my favorite comfort dishes), which was a heaping portion and very tasty! Highly recommend, especially if you're looking for a more upscale experience.

    ORIGIN DUO SPECIAL for two

This was my first time at Origin BBQ in KTown and we went with the ORIGIN DUO SPECIAL for two. Everything we tried tasted fresh and flavorful, and the meat quality was excellent. I absolutely loved the pork belly. Another big plus is that the server helps cook the meat on the grill for you, which makes the whole experience more relaxing -- you can just sit back and enjoy the food instead of managing the grill. The restaurant itself feels clean, modern, and well kept. Parking in the area can be tricky though, so rideshare is probably the easiest option. At the end they bring out a noodle soup, which is a nice touch, but for me it was much too salty and definitely on the high-sodium side. Overall, we had a really enjoyable meal. It's not a budget place, but the quality of the food and the service make it a solid choice if you're in KTown.

What can I say? Absolutely delicious. Everything was perfect! Banchan, corn cheese, ramen, cold noodle! Staff cooks for you, while you stuff your face. We ordered the set for two. The marinated bulgogi is delicious and was my favorite. But I'm a sucker for corn cheese too. The kimchi was also top notch. Could have gone with a tiny bit more funk, but really was good. The staff was really kind and let us store our luggage. It is a tad loud but not too smoky. I'd definitely return. I can't speak to parking as we used a ride share service.

Came here last night to celebrate a birthday party. This place had been on my list ever since Baekjeong closed in this location and moved to 8th St. The restaurant is located in Chapman Plaza on 6th St., which means if you aren't down to pay a 10 dollar self-parking fee, its Uber all the way, since street parking is fairly brutal. We had a reservation for 6:30 and were seated at that time, once everyone arrived. The restaurant was fairly packed with people waiting outside as well. We got the Baekdu set with an additional soybean stew as well. The bathroom was temporarily out of service, so I had to use the one outside of the restaurant and near the parking lot. It was a bit dirty and there was a line everytime I needed to use it. As for the meat itself, it was good but the order everything came out felt a bit strange to me. I would have assumed marinated meats would be the last thing to touch the pan but it was interwoven within the menu. The vibes were definitely there with birthday songs going left and right. The servers were also very attentive, although once the restaurant really got busy, we needed to tend to the meat for a bit to ensure it didn't burn. The kimchi stew that also comes with the set was fairly tiny, each of us only getting about 2 or 3 ladlefuls of stew among 5 of us. I ended up with a couple scraps of kimchi and maybe a sip of the soup, as I served myself last. Overall, it was a good, very standard experience among other Korean BBQ restaurants in the area.

This spot was sooooo delicious! The quality of the meat was excellent. Our favorites were the galbi and boneless short rib, both were super flavorful and tender. The bulgogi was also really good with a nice balance of sweet and savory. everything paired well with the banchan, and we were all completely stuffed by the end. service was a highlight. our server Ryan (a trainee), was very attentive and cooked all of our meats perfectly. He made sure our sides were always refilled and checked in often. It also seems like a really demanding job juggling so many things at once, so we definitely appreciated all his hard work. my whole party had a great experience, and we'd definitely come back

Clean, classy, and has kind servers. We ordered the 2 person set which was a 3-person job so didn't end up enjoying the later rounds of meats. The spiraled pork belly was a standout -- sliced thin, the right amount of fat. Next time, will just order a la carte.

Long over due review: Came here late on a Friday and basically had to order before fast before last call. They were super understanding and patient with us even though we were cutting it close. Food and meat quality were great! It's hard to go wrong with kbbq in the area so add this to your list of places to try. If you don't eat beef, but eat pork like I do, this is another good spot where the pork options don't feel like an afterthought. I'll be back!

Easily became one of my favorite quality KBBQ spots in K-Town! I came in with friends on a Monday for lunch and we were seated right away. The vibe was casual, comfortable, and very clean. We ordered the Baekdu set for five people and it was more than enough food for all of us. It came with cheese corn, which was easily everyone's favorite side dish -- so creamy! The side salad was also super fresh and crisp, and we couldn't stop eating it with the meat. Our favorite meat was definitely the short ribs but everything else tasted high quality anyway! Service really stood out too. Our server was very attentive. Even as the restaurant started getting busy, he kept checking in on us and made sure we never ran out of water or any of the side dishes we wanted. Highly recommend this place and can't wait to bring more friends here next time!

    Dine LA 2026
    Lanny N.

I went to Origin for their Dine LA 2026 set and loved it! It is now on my top restaurants near home list. It included: - Bulgogi Taco (2 pc) - Wagyu Brisket - Garlic Seasoned Prime Short Rib - Premium Thin Pork Belly - Gochujang Spicy Premium Pork Sirloin (kind of like jeyuk bokkeum) - Kimchi Fried Rice - Brisket Soybean Paste Hotpot with Noodle - Ice Cream & Yakgwa I quite enjoyed everything except: - I would replace the bulgogi taco (tastes decent but not memorable) - I thought the kimchi fried rice was mid (very mild flavor and a bit oily). The food was very filling, and meat quality was great. The wagyu brisket was much leaner than expected, so I expected it to be dry, but it turned out to still be yummy and enjoyable. The gochujang pork was *not* that sweet which was a big win for me! And the brisket soybean paste hotpot was a great way to end. I enjoyed it enough to take it home so I could add in additional ingredients and eat it again. An improvement I would suggest is to bring the ice cream out a bit later. We got the ice cream at the same time we got the hot pot and the gochujang pork (last meat) and so that meant we either had to eat the ice cream before end of meal, or finish our other food and let the ice cream melt. Lastly, I love the menu being on a little newspaper. The little creative touch makes the experience more memorable for me! Highly recommend this solid bbq place!

Inside chapman plaza. Parking is $10. I recommend street parking. A la carte kbbq. With super high quality meats. The price is expensive. The service is excellent and top notch, and cook the food well. I would go back. Origin family set serves 4 ($189)- Prime short rib- very soft, cooked well. It's marinade is very light. Boneless short rib- very soft. Beef brisket- good quality brisket thinly sliced Pork belly- it's super thinly sliced. Doesn't feel overly oily Bulgogi- super super good. Perfect marinade, not too sweet. Enough meaty flavor soft meat. Marinated bone in galbi $41- this was the real winner..then meat was super soft, slight sweetness from the marinade. Super super good. I would get this again. 1 Corn cheese included- pretty flavor. Enough for a small sample. Brisket soybean paste hotput- nice complimentary soup. Some soybean taste. Kimchi fried rice $15- super good. Not very dry, slight moisture. Great flavor. Kimchi pancake $15- average flavor. Pancake has nice crispiness. Terra- $10

First time trying Origin Kbbq thru Resy and we are pleasantly impressed by the quality of the meat and the kind services we received. We ordered the duo combo which in my opinion is more than enough for 2 people. The tofu soup pot at the end was a nice surprise (didn't realize it was included in the set at all). My favorite part is that I get to sit back and relax while the meat is cooked to perfection. I'm sure we will keep coming back whenever we crave some good Kbbq. Parking is not too bad...you can park at the H mart across the street and get parking validated if you shop there.

I came for dineLA The menu didn't look a lot but there were a lot of food for two of us. The cheese corn wasn't in the menu but they offered it. I love all the flavorful meats too. The food kept coming out. I didn't finish the noodles at the end. I will definitely come back for dineLA. Make sure to park on Mariposa.

Thanks for the post. Just to be clear, this is the place diagonally across from Quarters? A friend is coming into town and we intended to go Quarters last time he was here but it was taking to long and we went here... I think.

Yes. It's in the same plaza on the opposite side and a store or two down. More across from tiger sugar

Did the name change to this restaurant recently?? I'm getting mixed answers. The restaurant before was the best dang Korean bbq I ever had. I want to be sure.

Same owners. Name and menu change.

    Do they take reservations?

They take reservations on Resy but not sure if you can go there and wait for a table.

Do they have kimchi fried rice?

Yes. It's very good. I tried it on a subsequent visit and it's great. The same kimchi fried rice they serve at Quarters. If you like this dish, I definitely recommend it here

I enjoy how the ambiance is comfy and emulates a home vibe. The service is also amazing and they're very efficient with taking orders. If you go at peak dinner time on the weekends, expect a line. But I would say it moves pretty fast because they let you look at the menu and take your order while you're in line. In the evening of Sunday, August 23rd tonight, I went to Danbi with My Mom for their Dine LA…read moredinner. Danbi has been extremely popular lately, and getting a reservation has been very difficult. I made our reservation about two weeks in advance, but every date and every time slot for the following week was already completely booked. The only times available two weeks later were 7:45 PM or 9:00 PM, so we ended up making a 7:45 PM reservation, which was much later than the time we normally have dinner. I was really curious to see what this restaurant was like since it was so difficult to get a reservation. Some members of my group had also really wanted to try Danbi, but they couldn't get reservations because everything was fully booked. They all asked me to let them know what I thought after I went. Today, we finally got to go. We arrived a little early, around 7:20 PM. I told the hostess that our reservation was for 7:45 PM and that we had arrived early. She said okay and immediately seated us at our table, which I really appreciated. We didn't have to wait at all. We were seated at a table for two. There were also two women sitting at a table for two on our left and another two women sitting at a table for two on our right. Interestingly, both tables were having the exact same Dine LA menu as we were. So before we even ordered, we could actually see the dishes that we were going to be eating right next to us, which was kind of fun. The first dish that came out was the Honey Potato Chips. They were slightly sweet and sticky, probably because honey had been drizzled over them. I ate them with chopsticks because they were so sticky. My Mom initially picked them up with her hands, but her fingers got so sticky that she eventually started eating them with chopsticks too. Next came the Watermelon Kimchi. It looked like the watermelon had been seasoned with pepper or some other kind of seasoning. It was cool, refreshing, and really delicious. I thought it was perfect as a light and refreshing summer dish. Then we had two Cheese Rolls, and they were absolutely delicious. After that came the Spicy Sashimi Noodle. It was basically like spicy mixed soba noodles with a gochujang-based sauce underneath, along with pieces of sashimi. Our server told us to mix everything together really well before eating it, so I mixed it thoroughly with a spoon. It was slightly spicy, but really tasty. Then the Pork Jowl came out with rice and chili crisp. The pork was incredibly tender and soft, and it was delicious. On its own, the pork tasted a little rich and greasy, but when I ate it together with the sauce and the chili crisp, it was really good. For dessert, we had the Goguma Parfait. Our server explained that it was made with strawberries, blueberries, sweet potato, and potato. It wasn't overly sweet, which I really liked, and it was surprisingly delicious. There were also two pieces of chocolate on top, and everything went really well together. After trying everything, I finally understood why this restaurant is so popular and why every date and time slot seems to fill up so quickly. Every dish was incredibly creative, unique, and delicious. It honestly felt like we were experiencing and savoring little works of art through food. After we finished, I asked My Mom which dish she liked the most. She said that every single dish was delicious. Personally, my favorites were the Cheese Rolls, the Watermelon Kimchi, the Spicy Sashimi Noodles, and the Goguma Parfait. I also really liked our server. I can't remember her name, but she was a female server and was extremely kind and attentive. We had some pork and Honey Potato Chips left over and asked for two to-go boxes. She said she would pack them for us herself, and she carefully packed everything into the to-go boxes and brought them back to us in a brown paper bag. I thought that was incredibly kind. The other servers who brought out our food were also very friendly. At one point, I asked for two extra plates, and they brought them to us very quickly. It was also funny and interesting that the two women sitting at the table on our left and the two women sitting at the table on our right were all having the exact same Dine LA menu as us, and they were also just drinking water, just like we were. Overall, I really enjoyed Danbi. All of the food was delicious, the atmosphere was nice, and the staff was extremely friendly and attentive. I definitely want to come back next time and explore their regular menu. I feel like it would be another very creative and unique culinary adventure. There was only one major downside: it was VERY, VERY noisy. I think part of the reason is that the mall itself is a popular place for younger people. I actually used to go to this mall all the time with my friends when I was in my 20s and 30s, so I know how lively it can get.

Packed with so many scallops you'd think they raided Poseidon's personal stash, and crispy enough to audibly annoy your dining companions. But heed this warning: eat it faster than a seagull at a beach picnic, because sogginess waits for no one. The sea urchin rice? A umami bomb that punched my taste buds in the face--in a good way. And the freshwater shrimp? Let's just say they're so good, they almost made me forgive the restaurant for not being located next to an actual river. Now, the cocktail... let's call it "fine." It's the participation trophy of the drink menu. I'm just not a soju person, so it tasted like someone watered down my ambitions and charged me $15 for it. We strolled in around 7:30 on a Sunday and spotted empty tables like they were playing hard to get--but don't be fooled. Make a reservation unless you enjoy living on the edge (and by "edge," I mean the hostess stand). Service? Top-notch. Attentive staff who refill your water so fast you'll think they're training for the Olympics. The dining room itself is so chic it made my apartment feel like a cardboard box. Oh, and parking? That'll be $20--because nothing says "fine dining" like paying the GDP of a small island just to leave your car somewhere. Final take: Come for the seafood, stay for the vibes, and bring $20 in cash unless you want to sell a kidney at the valet.

If you're searching for some of the city's best pork, then those in the know will bring up Ham Ji Park. For 2 decades, generous platters of pork ribs and pork neck stew decked every table. Now, our Korean friends lament the loss of their favorite pork joint in the city. The Koreatown proper location is located in the Royal Plaza mini-mall, just a few blocks off bustling Wilshire. Discounted parking is available in a lot across the street from the Chevron gas station. From the street, the entrance is flanked by potted plants and an enclosed street-ery. Inside, stainless steel chairs are pressed up against wooden tables, each outfitted with a metal grill. Oppressive fluorescent lighting shines down on the stone grey walls, which are left undecorated apart from a few flatscreens. Multi-lingual chatter blends with the sizzle of platters. I visited with some friends for a weeknight dinner, and about half of the tables were occupied. We shared a spread of grilled platters and sizzling soups. The meal began with a carafe of barley tea and a mostly standard spread of banchan. Across our food, the best dish was the signature Charbroiled Pork Spare Rib. The ribs were flavorful without feeling gamey, and the meat was complemented by sweet caramelized onions. The pork ribs handily outdid the good-not-great Charbroiled Beef Short Rib. Lastly, the Milt and Cod Rose with Vegetables stew was fishy and briny, appropriately flavored for the Korean palate. The service was appropriately attentive, although I would've appreciated more intentional refills of our banchan ramikens. The rib plates cost upward of $35 each, while the soup was just under $30. The portions were hearty; a single entree platter could reasonably feed 2 moderately hungry bellies. It's a shame to hear that Ham Ji Park has closed; I'm kicking myself for not trying their pork neck stew earlier.

I also really like their marinated crab but it is quite pricey for the portion. Otherwise, I appreciate that it stays open quite late and has its own parking lot.

Even when we ordered the food, the server said "that's it?" as if she was offended that we didn't order more food (lower sales?) I'm not sure if we misunderstood her attitude but that's kind of how it felt like. The quality and size went down and it was just... not good. This used to be my #1 spot for cold noodles but our other fav place was closed today so we decided to come here. As you can see, the size of the cold noodles became smaller. Everything was packed in this small bowl which made it harder to eat. I think they changed the noodles they use because it wasn't doing anything texture wise. It used to be chewy and had a good buckwheat flavor. The broth tasted.. like water with a splash of bone broth. The quality of galbi was also a disappointing as I feel like it's became less and the meat was burnt with more fat/chewy bits. The leek pancake was ok but again, comparing it to my picture from January, it was bigger in size and more dough-y. Service was decent previously but it felt a bit cold today. Again, super bummed because we still love this place but I probably won't be ordering their combo again. You can see in my pictures how often we used to order the cold noodles from here and you can compare the quality.
